people give all the credit to fontaine for being the “best region” (and they’re not wrong tbh) but why does everyone forget that genshin really started to glow up in sumeru?? like story flow, exploration, multi-layered map, character bursts/gameplay, not to mention the addition of dendro, a whole new element???
granted, sumeru still had plenty of flaws and i’m still not over the fact that they absolutely FUCKED dehya’s shit up so bad (she was the one sumeru character i wanted more than anyone else when it came out) but sumeru was peak in my opinion and im still not over the fact that it’s over. :(
some of my favorite things from sumeru IF you care:
- the relationship progression and teamwork between dehya, cyno and alhaitham. like they all started off super untrusting and unwilling to work with each other but were forced to make it work and ended up making a great team
- the archon quest in general had me so hooked the whole time i loved it (even the annoying ass samsara repetition at the beginning lol)
- Nilou’s burst, gameplay, and design. prettiest character in the whole game imo. (i still wish she had more potential as a dps rather than strictly a bloom/hydro applicator but oh well)
- Nahida’s writing. basically her whole character and development was so good, such a great archon
- literally everything to do with scaramouche/wanderer but if you guys are following me you already know i love him so do i really need to explain?
- absolutely BEAUTIFUL landscape even if it sucks to explore
- coolest looking enemies and bosses in the game i think (especially the eremites like what?? they literally look like they should be playable)
- the music in vorukasha oasis/ basically that whole area in general. the vocals are so pretty i literally stay there for hours just listening to the music, it’s my favorite area in the whole game i go there all the time when im bored
anyways that’s it now it’s y’all’s turn to tell me about your favorite nation and your favorite things in it!!!

Yandere Wriothesley encountering his escaped darling (normalized yandere AU)
Connecting with the Yandere Neuvillette and Wriothesley series- Yandere Neuvillette & Wriothesly’s darling thoughts, Nothing You Can Take From Me Was Worth Keeping , I’m Bad But Then Your No Prize Either , post story headcannons, Pankration ring rules, Heartbreaking comparisons, Wriothesley’s darling escaping
took inspiration from this scene from Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes
Tumblr media
Wriothesley’s darling escaped with the help of her mother to Natlan, having nothing but the clothes on her back, a bag of food, her vision, and her father’s guitar. There she encountered a group of traveling musicians, like her, some of them on the run, others just didn’t have a family outside of this chosen on, no where else to go. She joins them and becomes apart of this family, spending nights under the open sky, looking at the stars above as they sing around the camp fire and sleep by each other for warmth, and the days, traveling from town to town, and doing the only thing they know how to, preforming. With them she went from angry, stubborn, and depressed from when she was with the Duke to strong, joyful, and sassy in the best way possible with this family.
Meanwhile for the Duke of Meropide it has been years since he has seen his darling and it was draining on him. He missed her snide comments, he missed her voice, he missed how she would bite at his lips when he tried to kiss her, it was still her touch. While the Duke is draining away his darling is thriving, finding family, and perhaps even love as she opens her heart again to one of her band members, a cello player, and a brilliant young man. So while Sigewinne is worrying about Wriothesley’s health, his darling is miles away kissing another man who actually treats her like a person, who doesn’t kidnap her, but gives her freedom.
It has been years and call them stupid but their groups decides it’s time they explored the world outside of Natlan. So they set out from region to region, Mondstadt (stopping to say hello to the darling’s family who fled there after helping her escape) Liyue, Sumeru, and so on, until they reach Fontaine. The group agreed to only stay there a few days and only give one performance, specifically in one of the poorer parts of the city, as to not draw the attention of the wealthier crowd, they’ll earn the keep plus some and then leave. Then on the night of the performance the darling sits down with her new lover and tells him of the put in her stomach, this feeling she has of something horrible happening. He tells her it’s just nerves and not to worry but she makes him promise that is something does happen that he’ll take the rest of the crew and run, don’t look back.
At the same time as all this Wriothesley gets forced out by the head nurse to get out of the Fortress and to go get some fresh air. So he sets out into the Court of Fontaine and hears whispers as he goes to a tea parlor that a traveling band is passing through. The wealthy women he is listening to scoff at the idea, such lowlife they say, but Wriothesley has nothing to loose so he decides to go watch since it may take his mind off his missing darling.
The performance buzzing with people, families, couples, children, the old, men, women, it’s just a lively environment. Then he hears whispers about how they can wait to hear her sing again, and how it’s been so long since she left Fontaine, let alone preform. The is a feeling of hope in the duke’s mind at this, a foreign feeling to him now and one what he cannot place. He shakes those thoughts away as he stands in the back and watches…
That’s when his heart stopped…
It was her…
Her dusty skirt twirling as she stepped onto the old stage, guitar in hand. She spoke to the crowd in that charismatic manner that she did to everyone, everyone but him. She was talking to her home again, a place she hasn’t been in what feels like forever. He watched as she held her guitar and began to sing, oh the first time he had heard her sing since she taken to the fortress and it was beautiful. His eyes were fixed on her as she sang, the lyrics should be like knifes to him with their meaning but he didn’t care…
Then she saw him, his heart soared…
and her heart sank…
she wanted to vomit when she saw the Duke, wanted to run, to scream, but she couldn’t…
Wriothesley watched as she trembled on her words but pushed on with the song and she looked away from him, her gaze shifting to another man, the cello player beside her, stepping over and pausing her singing to lean over and kiss the musician on the cheek which made the crowd cheer. The Duke felt his blood boil, but he could only silently grit his teeth and watch, starting a scene here would cause a panic…
for now he would let her enjoy her last preformance…
and don’t worry she won’t be dragged to the fortress alone now…
no her whole group broke the law, crossing the boarder without documentation…
is that not a law? Don’t worry he’ll talk to the Iudex of Fontaine about that, the man who’s darling was the singer’s best friend, who she ran with in the beginning and who she would share the same fate with in the end.

Hello!!I want to start off with the fact that i ABSOLUTELY LOVE your art!!The way you draw characters is amazing, you draw them nearly the same as i hc them
I was scrolling through your blog (the art is beautiful please dont ever stop) and i saw some anons complaining and insulting you for drawing some characters (mainly characters from natlan and sumeru) with different shades of skin. While i dont know much about this topic i just wanted to share my opinion.
Sumeru is based off of middle east, the majority of which has tanned skin (but its very mixed from what i know!).Natlan is based off of a lot of places (which is honestly another sign of racism in my opinion)I myself am from Turkey which can count as both middle east AND Europe (even turkish people dont know what we count as).I have a lot of middle eastern friends as well (Iran,Iraq,Sauda Arabia,Syria…) and they are brown or tanned and one of them is white!
i saw a lot of people say that “not every character needs to be black/brown” and i answer this with not every character has to be white.White, brown, black, asian, native american and every other race exists and every race deserves to be respected. No race should be insulted for wanting representation. No race should be seen as outcasts either.Wether that be white or black,no one deserves to feel like they are not fine the way they are.
I myself hc Zhongli as pale as a ghost to indicate that he is a god (as being pale is associated with being a superior being in chinese culture).I hc Xiao as tanned due to him spending all his time, day and night, fighting monsters.I hc Neuvilette has slightly blue-ish skin bc hes the hydro sovereign.I hc as black bc i like him that way.I hc Alhaitham as brown and so many more characters.Nobody would want to play a game in which there is no diversity.Diversity helpes the characters feel more real and gives them character depth.Diversity helps make Teyvat feel more real, like Earth itself.
But anyways this is just my opinion,i would love to learn more and hear everyone’s opinions. And if someone doesnt like your art they should just block you if they dont want to see it🤷‍♀️ Your art is amazing though so please dont mind those buffoons 🙏
Sorry it this got too long or complicated.English isnt my first language and im still learning
And dont even get me started on the body shapes of the characters
Hii !! Thank you so much ! 😭😭🙏
Yesss I completely agree with you !
And if I can be honest, I wasn't aware of this question of representation and diversity before Genshin Impact. Once, I saw a fanart with someone making a white character black, and in all of my ignorance, I was wondering why (a genuine question). So I asked my friend her thought (because I love hearing her opinions) and she makes me aware about representation in media, and issues they are facing to. And, wow, I learnt a lot ! Maybe it is a bit silly but, I always tend to focus on canon content, and all my HC was around interactions or their behaviour, and I never thought about their body appearance HC. And since I learnt that, my creativity developed a new skill ! So it is only recently I put HC on their physical appearance (like Sethos with dimples KKGEKDJS it ain't that much but it is fun, I guess HC on physical appearance is not my domain)
But it is thanks to Genshin, a game about exploring a whole world with diversity lore in each region, and what representation Hoyoverse used for making their game that I started to be into it. So yes, there is a lot of problem in genshin, making some rep worst. But without this, I wouldn't be able to learn more about SWANA culture with a thread I read on Dehya Nilou Tighnari Faruzan, Japan with Wanderer, Chinese with Yun Jin or recently on Hawai'i with Mualani and even on France United Kingdom with Emilie (i think I also read a thread about GaMing too...?). And what a surprise, I am close to France and UK but I never knew about Emilie's inspiration. Not only on character but also lore, and how some desert name in genshin is also part of culture (I don't remember where I read it tho !! Gosh i wish to reread it again).
I love genshin for its diversity whatever on region or lore but even on gameplay it offers us in our adventure. But I also agree on those who complain about character design ! Not only about representation, but about storytelling in character design (for example, you can't guess Xilonen is someone who forges ; her nails, accessories and hair would be on her way). And it happens that I receive some hate message (on tumblr and twitter. Mostly twitter) saying "this game is not for you, just leave" with some insults that I prefer to not share lol
I agree and also disagree. What do you mean this game is NOT for me ?? Searching our lost sibling, tragic lore, wholesome encounter, satisfying gameplay, vivid color landscape, with great characters, ALBEDO ??? Not for me ?! 🤨 My love for genshin is immense. But, I agree on the fact that.. yes. Indeed, I am not the target for genshin character design. I played a lot of gacha game, and it is mostly based on collectioning waifu with big boobs and big ass (you were a great game, Epic Seven...). When I look at hater's account on twitter, there is a pattern : throwaway account, account full of problematic opinion, or full of porn 2d woman with the basic hourglasses morphology big boobs big butt even on characters who are flat. It is undeniable that most of genshin characters are sexualised, and this, for sell them better. And, making them white is one of criteria to sell them better to those type of client 🙂‍↕️
I study sociology (i am a newbie tho, nothing deep) and I can extend this light analyse on what I learn : the success of Genshin, why there is such a contrast between Genshin players and their different profiles, the benefits Hoyoverse do and how difficult it is to satisfy all players (and so sacrifices are made, like characters design). It is all supposition tho BGKEJGJS but maybe if I do my last year of sociology and still into genshin, why not making my essay on it bahahaha
BACK TO THE TOPIC !!! (SORRY I HAD A LOT TO SAY) don't worry, since this anon hate, I tend to block everyone who try to argue or insult 😭 and just mostly shock how people are openly racist when they are behind a screen WOW lucky me I am not affected by those words ☠️ and all of this just because I draw Kinich black skin or Xilonen with a bit more textured hair...? That's so crazy ! Anywaaaay diversity is great and it works also on creativity too !! World is boring if everything looks the same, and it is also the same in Genshin ! Imagine in 4 years, genshin only released mondstadt 1, mondstadt 2, mondstadt 3.... I believe the game would be dead sooner if it was the case bahaha
And thank you again for all your compliments about my art anon !! I love drawing so much, and it is my source of fun and happinness <3 There is in some drawings I thought "wow !!! I improve !!" And i am so happy when people notice it too! 😭🙏
Don't worry abt your english, mine isn't the best neither BAHTVZJHGJZGAA

Why I believe Natlan's technologies aren't "out-of-place."
Just because Natlan isn't considered "technologically advanced" doesn't mean they would not be able to create or possess technologies that just seem "too modern" for the previously seen nations.
Natlan's technologies may not be considered "advanced" because most of their creations are solely for recreational purposes. Xilonen's DJ board, rollerskates, and Mualani's surfboard are all mainly for ease of use to to influence of their environments. (Kinich is an exception as he isn't really powered by technology nor is Ajaw.)
Even when most of the technologies seem too advanced, like Kachina's drill, and Chasca's gun, they were both originally created to imitate the Saurian counterparts. If all a piece of technology does is just provide ease of access and combine simple regional solutions, its likely not worth too much note to outside nations. which would likely happen with inventors like Xilonen experimenting with phlogiston and forging.
Xilonen is an extremely important factor to note. She has proven herself to be one of the most intelligent inventors in Natlan. Her skill with harnessing Phlogiston energy is crucial to how all these technologies' existence. It makes sense that learning how to create traditional works with Phlogiston would overlap into accidental new discoveries that Xilonen uses to her advantage.
This is further explored in the new Flower-Feather Clan Tribal Chronicles quest chain. Phlogiston Wings are specifically created to supplant and replace their saurians. However, it's not too far off to think that it would be a rather common idea, especially since Elemental Manipulation exists in the world.
Phlogiston and Ochkanatlan relics are the main power sources used in Natlan tech. With an abundance of phlogiston and the (suggested) immense power of the relics, creating their technology isn't that far-fetched. They put their resources and time into the arts, music, and changing traditions more than orderly improvements to the nation, and it shows.
Other nations definitely will beat out Natlan in their technological advancements; the ones that don't beat Natlan have reasons. Mondstadt is a poor anarchist state with no emphasis on any actual governing organization. The nation isn't very wealthy so it makes sense they wouldn't have much innovation and trade occurring within the nation. Liyue harnesses a special material called Plaustrite in the Jade Chamber, which enables it to fly. Inazuma doesn't have an abundance of technology due to the Shogun's rule effectively trying to stop evolution and innovation within the nation, as a pursuit of eternity. However, a number of innovations still happened before the Shogun's rule, like the Tatarasuna accident and the creation of a puppet for Ei. Sumeru and Fontaine is where differences really start to show. All of the desert's tech as well as the Akademiya's research shows what happens if a nation pours their innovation into education, not the arts. The existence of Akasha terminals, dreamscapes, mind control, and digital storage all exist in the game, yet no one seems to call it out. Fontaine isn't much better. Literal androids roam the streets, motorized boats sail around the harbor, and guns are a popular weapon.
Guns are already known throughout Teyvat, just Xilonen imitated their function while adding a custom one from Chasca.
Then there comes the big issue. Mavuika's motorcycle. However this argument is instantly able to be countered. It's said that Xianyun/Cloud Retainer has created a similar vehicle, a powered two wheel vehicle. Mavuika's simply takes the idea (which is probably also not a very hard concept to think up,) and gives it a Natlan remodel. The aesthetics are just a Natlan revamp, with the power source just being Phlogiston. (I can't speak for her bike fighting animations. They just look kinda goofy, but I like them anyways lol.)
All in all, I think people complain too much and you shouldn't nitpick something you don't like simply because you don't like it. (Especially if your argument can be countered.) Even if it is a little off-putting, with a little thinking, mostly everything can be explained or proven possible to exist.
If anyone has any objections to reasonings or information I've missed please tell me!!

「 ✦ Unexpected Traveler Pt. 1 ✦ 」
↳ You were once a world traveler alongside the twins—one being your lover...but that was until you had disappeared from their side not too long after their run in with the heavenly principles. So...what a coincidence would it be if a certain unexpected traveler showed up.
Tags:
──────⋆⋅☆⋅⋆──────
You flopped onto your bed—nothing seemed better than to just be unconscious in a world of bliss and nothingness.
Earlier you had to deal with a stuck up local who commissioned you. Fortunately you were saved by the artistic consultant de Fontaine who graciously invited you for a quick tea and sandwich but it was cut short as your food and drink splattered on your outfit by a bumping local.
So here you were, splat across your mattress, staring at nothingness in contemplation of your life.
How you wished you could go back to your old life..
You started to reminiscence of your previous adventures with the blonde twins—hopping different worlds, exploring their vast lands and fighting off unique and exquisite monsters.
Your eyebrows furrow as your mind drifts to that day—the day where you lost everything, lost them—him.
You remember it so clearly, the night sky with it's stars shining down upon the world, the moon's glow cascading over the nourishing life, though..it all turned red so quickly. Fire spreading, smoke arising from every corner. The world was crumbling, you, yourself included.
You remember, you could still feel it, the way your hand slowly crumbled away into ash. You remember the horrified faces of the twins as the realization sank in. You remember the last time you saw his face as he cradled you before the only thing left was ashes and darkness.
But then..you woke up here. The burning sensation that filled your eyes from the salt, how the world around you felt light yet heavy at the same time..that was until you felt movement from yourself and another. And that's where you met Furina—well, Focalors, the God of justice and the Archon of hydro. Overall throughout your years here, the two of you had gotten close, practically family at this point.
..
Your time of reminiscing was interrupted with knocking from your door.
Quickly getting up you opened the door and were greeted by one of Furina's servants.
"Lady {Y/N}, Lady Furina wishes to speak to you quickly."
.
.
.
"HE'S HERE!?"
Your shouts bounced off the walls of the court room, Furina swore the whole city of Fontaine heard.
She shook her head. "Well, yes and no. Aether's here on Teyvat, yes, but he's not in this region." She corrected placing her head on her hand with intrugement.
"B-but he's here! Holy shit!" You cussed, both hands at the side of your head as you paced nervously. But you briefly stopped, your brows furrowing, "wait..he's here..? Where's Lumine?" You questioned.
Furina raised her brow in confusion, "His sister?" She paused, hesitating as she thought..She shook her head, "{Y/N}...She—...she isn't here, theres no records of her existence here physically, the only thing of her being is words from the traveler." She stated as her brows furrowed in sympathy.
She knew your relationships with the twins. She didn't want to be the barrier of bad news but better to say it now than let it be found later. Right?
She watched as you stood in silence before sighing. "Do you know where he is now?" You asked as she hummed in thought before nodding, "I believe he's somewhere in Sumeru, I heard there was quite a big event there."
You furrowed your brows before shaking your head, "thank you Furina, I need a bit of time to uhh figure all this out." You smiled as she nodded in understanding.
....
Two weeks have passed, you haven't heard much about the Aether only a few mummers and mumbles every once in a while.
You still had hope and your were ecstatic to see him for the first time in how many years? Right..4 years.
You wondered if he changed at all or if he was still the same—like his looks, or persona. Maybe even his relationships? Would that also mean his relationship with you would've changed..? What if he didn't like you anymore—moved on, found someone else? What if-
You shook your head, not wanting to sink deeper into that abyss.
You walked along the shore of Fontaine, your brows furrowed as you tried calming your gearing mind.
"AGH! Why couldn't I have just not turn to dust!?" You complained, throwing your head back as you pressed your nails into your head in irritation but quickly let go as you heard something behind you.
"{Y/N}..?"

Thoughts on Natlan
Tumblr media
I want to preface this by saying my entire Genshin map is 100%, I have completed all hangouts and character quests including all the new ones for Natlan and I'm someone who has played Genshin since 1.0 so these thoughts are coming from a longterm and dedicated player.
Music
I think that once again Hoyoverse has done an excellent job with the soundtrack of the new region. I would say the music is on par with Sumeru's which is by far my favorite genshin nation by far.
Environmental Design
Going to be honest, I don't really like the design of the new region. I think Ochkanatlan is the most interesting region visually out of what has been released so far. Many of the other areas bleed together so closely that there's not very much distinction between them, while in past nations there were clearer 'zones' and areas of interest. In Natlan it feels like the only areas of true interest are the Tribes themselves but those are such limited areas that it's not very satisfying to explore.
Also, I'm not really a fan of making the area difficult to traverse in order to push players to pull the limited characters but I'll get to that in a bit.
Another criticism I have of the region is the "Yellow Paint" direction they have used heavy handedly in the region. While past regions used more subtle ways to direct the player or used lighting and the environment to guide players in the wanted direction, Natlan uses what's commonly described as 'Yellow Paint' in Natlan but quite literally. As you traverse the area there will be actual painted arrows to direct the player towards the end goal.
As one of the core aspects of the game is exploration and puzzle solving, I feel it's rather lazy of the design team (Rather than using good environmental design such as lighting and spacing) and also takes away the magic and satisfaction of solving puzzles.
Chests/Puzzles in Natlan
On the topic of puzzles, there's a distinct lack of them in this region. Judging from the Genshin survey we got in the mail last week where one of the key items it asked it seems they're wanting to move away from puzzles and exploration in general which is sorely felt in this region.
Overall it felt like the chests were fewer in number or required no puzzle solving skills in general. With the way tribe reputation was set up for this region, the treasure compass is extremely accessible.
In other regions I would have felt that this was a non issue as the areas felt larger and more complex, thus the treasure compass would have been nice to have earlier. Natlan would be the first region where I 100% completed the exploration aspect before even getting the compass.
As someone who heavily enjoys exploration in Genshin, this was somewhat disappointing for me.
Exploration in Natlan
I think Exploration is okay. I enjoy the use of the saurians in order to explore the region. What I dislike about it is the fact that this is a core mechanic implemented only to sell the limited characters.
Some might disagree and say that you can complete the content without the use of the new Natlan characters, and I agree that it is doable as I have not pulled any of the Natlan characters. Outside of having Kachina who is free, that is.
However, the saurians are more frustrating to use compared to the limited characters as anything involving combat means having to exit the Saurian while being attacked, etc. You're also prevented from exiting them while in the air and if you want to climb or use your glider you are also prevented from doing so which is annoying.
I also feel there's not as much intrigue as past areas and areas that do have interesting ties to the lore have their exploration obstructed by NPC's guiding the player rather than having you explore yourself which I find frustrating.
Natlan Lore/Questlines
The Lore? Good. The Questlines? Could be better.
We're getting a lot of information from the characters themselves which is nice. Ochkanatlan also had a lot of interesting lore provided to us and in a rather straightforward way.
I appreciate that the character quests are built into the reputation quests and they seem to focus more on the characters themselves with less dialogue bloat compared to past regions. As someone who played all character quests this is a large improvement I feel was sorely needed. For once I didn't feel like doing these character quests was wasting any time and included the player in a way that let us experience the world of the limited characters quite well.
My main criticism so far is actually for the archon quests. So far they have been some of the most lackluster parts of the update for me. While there have been some cool moments I'm not very attached to Mavuika. This is the first time I have found an Archon so boring. I also feel like the way they delivered the aspect of war was poorly done and though in theory the air balloon thing was okay, I feel that there was not enough emotional investment.
It would have had a stronger delivery if those dying were characters we had more attachment to. Unfortunately, those that died were NPC's that only shared a few lines of voiceless dialogue with the player only minutes before their deaths. If Genshin had used the PC's to kill off after we had spent multiple updates getting to know them, then that on top of seeing the numbers of deaths would have had more gravity to it. The closest we had to this was Chasca's sister.
In general, I feel like they have gotten somewhat better with this over time. Where more and more we see PC's actually being involved and seen together more but there's still a heavy reliance on NPC's in even important world quests. It's as if they're scared to use the PC's to deliver actual lore sometimes.
Character Designs (Skip if you don't want to see my opinions lol)
They're not my favorite. I do feel there's a lot of 'misses' in the current lineup of characters.
The colorism is something that has been heavily discussed and we all know it's an issue. I'm not an expert on the cultures referenced for Natlan, but even if I were to only talk about the character designs divorced of the cultural references, they're unappealing to me still.
I acknowledge that all the characters have some issues with their design. That said, so far the characters I like the least are Mavuika, Kinich, Chasca, and Ororon. Though I dislike most of the Natlan cast for one reason or another, these characters stick out to me the most. I should say that personality wise, I don't hate most of them, it's mostly their designs that irk me.
Mavuika: I'm sorry, I'm on the team that thinks the motorcycle is completely immersion breaking for me. If they had made it some kind of actual dragon type saurian I would have liked it a lot more and it would have tied in more with the use of saurians in Natlan. I understand that it's technology passed down from the dragons. However, Waxaklahun Ubah Kan the DRAGON SAGE who showed how to use phlogiston to humans doesn't even have legs!!! WHY WOULD THE DRAGONS INVENT MOTORCYCLES. Sorry, it's just so absurd to me. I won't even get into the whole Mavuika's nipple rings on her biker onesie or the crotch to ass zipper. I just hate this design.
Kinich: He's supposed to be a rock climber/bungie jumper which is interesting in theory but I can't stand Ajaw. I think that there's only room enough for one annoying floating companion. But the fact that Ajaw is actual pixels is really odd to me. I get they were maybe trying to modernize the sharp historical artstyle but it's just so... out of place for me.
Chasca: I just think her design is bad. I don't think the color palette goes very well with her skintone, I think that the long purple bangs clashes with the fact that her hat already covers that part of her face, I think the one bare leg facing the camera while using her is both blinding and jarring. The flying gun is so damn stupid. Once again, like at least there's an explanation for Mavuika's stupid bike, but the gun is also just... stupid. At least make her ride one of the birds that shoots out elemental attacks....
Ororon: I quite like this character's personality and story... but I do feel he was a 'gap moe' type character that took the gap too far. I also think his design is just bizarre. The design on his scarf and cloak are so crisp and modern AND BRIGHT that it's hard to look at. I feel like if they had taken a more painted or woven aesthetic it would have looked more natural for the area they're in. The ripped jeans... well, if Xilonen can have jean shorts it's whatever, I do think it's a bit weird but at the very least some characters from Flower Feather Clan wear them so it's not exclusive to him... except he's not even in that clan.
The Natlan Gimmicks
Overall, I can't lie. It's leaving a bad taste in my mouth.
I really dislike how 'exclusive' Natlan characters are to the region. The fact that they basically has an expiration date is quite bad, and the fact that the Archon only works really well but only with Natlan characters means that she will be unable to fit in with future teams in the future. It also means that for a long time her best team with stay static in nature as fewer and fewer Natlan characters will be released after we leave the region.
As a core feature of the game is team building, the fact that her longevity relies so heavily on her region is... bad. Not to mention it's not even limited to the characters, but the artifacts as well. Some artifact sets from 1.0 are still BIS for a lot of characters, however in Natlan this is the first time where the sets are only good for the region.
I even pointed out to some people in discord that even the limited weapons aren't worth pulling on because they're nearly only good for Natlan characters. The low crit stat is built into Mavuika's weapon because they made a crit artifact set that's expected to be used together with it, therefore making these weapons lose significant value if not paired with Natlan characters.
Weapon banner is already enough of a scam as it is, but if I pull for a weapon, you better believe I will be pulling for one that I think has longterm use not for one that is going to be unusable outside of anyone but the signature character its designed for.
The characters also lose much of their key selling point, mobility, outside of their region. Are they still usable? Yes. But now they're practically worse than older units outside of Natlan if you compare the distances they can traverse with other units.
They've significantly lowered the rewards in terms of Mora in Natlan. Not only do you not get mora from bounties, but now they effectively cut you off from getting rewards once reputation is capped. The "tree" also gives very little mora compared to older regions. The only good sources of Mora are now through the paid battlepass and from doing leylines.
Fishing was delayed heavily in Natlan, but has little rewards to it this time. Fishing to get the rod doesn't mean anything because there's literally only one thing to buy besides the fishing rod and it's so cheap and doesn't even use the same fish as the rod meaning you don't need the rod to grind any fish at all.
It just feels like a lot of content was overly simplified or removed entirely in Natlan and the design of the limited characters just gives a lackluster feeling.
For some people I'm sure they're enjoying Natlan because it is "easier" but as a longterm player it feels like some of the aspects I loved so much in Genshin are being gutted to appeal to short term goals and players. MHY gets to make characters they can comfortably market knowing the longevity of the characters is limited therefor not worrying about how these characters will behave in the meta longterm, and casual players can complete all the content with little to no effort.
However, I'm still rather disappointed and I really hope Snezhnaya isn't like this.

what is genshin impact? (sorry for such an open question-)
(It’s alright. I should be the one apologizing for you have made a mistake-)
:0 I thought you’d never ask~
Genshin Impact is an rpg that takes place in a world called Teyvat. There are seven nations/regions based on the seven elements that each player can use: Mondstadt based on Anemo (air), Liyue based on Geo (rocks and shit), Inazuma based on Electro, Sumeru based on Dendro (plants and shit), Fontaine based on Hydro, Natlan based on Pyro, and Shneznaya based on Cryo (ice). I’ve listed the regions in order of the story.
The game begins with you traveling with your sibling through different worlds, and you choose one to play as: Aether or Lumine.
After that you begin your journey by traveling to Mondstadt and obtaining your first element, Anemo. In each region you will help the people there with one thing or another, then you’ll meet their Archon.
An Archon is basically a god of the region that they’re from. There’s Venti/Barbatos (Anemo), Zhongli/Morax/Rex Lapis (Geo), Raiden (electro), Nahida/Kusanali (Dendro), Furina (Hydro), Mavuika (Pyro), and the Tsaritsa (Cryo). Some of them rule their nation themselves, while others have decided to let their people rule themselves. There are statues throughout the regions that give you the ability to weild the element of that region’s Archon.
There’s a lot of lore and stuff that I won’t go too into since I think that’s plenty.
A lot of the game involves fighting different enemies and exploring this new world you’ve been put in. However, you can also play as characters from different regions that also wield different elements. Not every character has the element of the region they’re from; there’s a lot of factors that go into what element one gets. These special characters have a thing called a Vision, which they obtain by having a strong enough desire aligned with a certain Archon. They’re basically just artifacts that give people a little bit of an Archon’s power. Every character can be obtained by wishing.
I’m gonna stop myself here before I write an entire novel. But if you want me to explain anything I’ve said here or anything I haven’t, please let me know <3

The Traveller
Have you noticed how the Traveler’s elemental powers in “Genshin Impact” align with their journey and the essence of each region?
• Anemo (Mondstadt): We first acquire Anemo powers after losing our sibling. This reflects Mondstadt’s core values of freedom and exploration, mirroring our quest to search for answers.
• Geo (Liyue): Following our efforts in Mondstadt, we gain Geo powers in Liyue. This is appropriate, as Liyue stands for hard work, stability, and the strength of the earth, embodying our growing resilience and determination.
• Electro (Inazuma): In Inazuma, we are seen as unique for wielding elemental powers without a Vision. Gaining Electro here ties into the region’s themes of identity and the pursuit of eternity, emphasizing our distinctiveness and the tumultuous nature of our journey.
• Dendro (Sumeru): Upon reaching Sumeru, our ambition to learn about our sibling intensifies, and we gain Dendro powers. This aligns with Sumeru’s focus on wisdom and knowledge, reflecting our intellectual and emotional growth.
• Hydro (Fontaine): By the time we arrive in Fontaine, our desire to protect its people strengthens, and we receive Hydro powers. This is in harmony with Fontaine’s themes of justice and emotional depth, symbolizing our deepening empathy and commitment.
Each element we gain not only matches our personal growth but also the unique characteristics and struggles of the regions we visit, demonstrating the intricate storytelling of Genshin Impact.
Can’t wait for the new regions!!!

I’m pretty sure I like it more than most people, judging by the internet’s reaction.
I’ve always seen the nations in genshin has places Hoyo were inspired off of and then attached a time period to further an aesthetic. So Natlan being a bit more on the modern side never threw me off because logically speaking, it’s not any weirder than steampunk Victorian France boarding with ancient China and medieval Germany. I think most people were put off cause many of us actually around for earlier 2000’s so the contrast feels sharper in conjunction with the idea of historical tribal cultures living vividly in such an era.
Even the more “modern” technology in lore isn’t in abundance. It’s Xilonen tinkering as a hobby and other sources outside of her are typically questioned or simply asked if they fundamentally mess traditional practices or could harm the way of life created; like in Chasca or Kinich’s quest so I kinda like the balance and commentary on it. I never had the opinion Natlan doesn’t feel like Genshin because of the direction they took.
There hasn’t been a character I hated in Natlan. They’ve all been pretty endearing but I do wish we saw Iansan more. She feels the most disconnected from events after Act 2 which sucks considering she’s the first Natlan character we ever saw. This might be copium but I kinda feel like Mavukia has a slight case of second life crisis. She’s the most modern looking out of everyone and though they never bring up why, I can’t help but think her full on doubling down with these new advancements helps her not think about how she’s 500 years out of time.
The only reason I think the world building works as well as it does is because the nation is cut off from how the rest of the world in a lot of ways, so many rules and set ups make sense in this environment, but would be less solid if their Ley Lines, Night Kingdom, and a few other things existed alongside the rest of Teyvat from the beginning. I don’t hate it and they took their time explaining the how and why of concepts, but it was definitely a weird learning curve.
It’s one of my favorite places to explore. I wish it was bigger and expanded more often. It’s top five favorite places for me to explore and will probably go up if we get Mare Javari. I’m one of those freaks that actually liked the exploration of Sumeru, Enkanomiya, Chasm, and Fontaine’s water. The details and areas not actually advertised is insane. There’s an ancient sky kingdom. That’s awesome and you can fall from it. It reminded me of learning there’s a route in the desert from 3.7 underground that will lead you from north to south down but to the 3.1 area.
Yeah i like Natlan. It might be my third favorite region overall.

SMOOCHES!!! Hii my dove!! ໒꒰ྀི´ ˘ ` ꒱ྀིა
OKay so! Since fragile!reader was in a coma for like a really reallyyyy long time, it means Dottore didn’t really have anybody to cook for him. 😭I’m glad we all agree this man probably can’t/couldn’t cook well, so you were the one always cooking his meals before you got sick. And sure ! Maybe you did teach him a few recipes but they won’t taste the same! Or how he wasn’t able to enjoy the sweets you would bake for him before whenever he would stay up working on his experiments in your dorm. I Can just imagine that while you’re in your coma, he probably tries baking/cooking so that when you do wake up from your coma, he can treat you to perhaps some food he made. Would it be burnt? Obviously…but I feel like whenever he does have free time and you’re baking/cooking, he would try to help you instead of Zandy helping you. He probably shoo’s the child away LMAO. I really enjoy that one HC that someone made about him taking an hour out of his day. Since just the both of you baking and talking over simple things </3 I’m very delulu as you can see. I just wanna bake chocolate chip cookies with my love and talk about the most generic things while we wait for the cookies to bake. 😭
Anyways I hope you’ve been enjoying Fontaine! I was able to finish the archon quests and plan on starting exploration the day I’m writing this. I really think Fontaine is my fav region bc of how gorgeous and fun it is. But have a wonderful day my love! Lots of cuddles and chu chus
-from your dear boo boo bear 🎐 anon ೀ
🎐 ANON!!! MY LOVE <3 THANK YOU FOR THIS BRAINROT!
Yup yup, do NOT let Dottore cook 😭 It will not go well. The first time you let him cook dinner in the dorm was also the last time. From then you tried to teach him some basics so everything he knows is from you, but even still it's not the best... only the bare minimum. So Zandik had always left the kitchen stuff to you which he had no problem with. He never admitted defeat... but in this particular skill he had to.
But he only realizes the extent of his ineptitude when you're not here anymore. I feel like his lab wouldn't even have a kitchen a first lol he only got it put in since he knows you'll want to cook when you wake up from your coma. And even though he gets it for you he avoids the room like a plague because it somehow reminds him of you cooking in that cramped dorm kitchen from long ago.
Until finally after a long period of time and no signs of you waking up Dottore bites the bullet and tries his hand at your forte. Truthfully he never understand why he wasn't good, he thought of cooking as a sort of experimental procedure, just follow the directions in the cookbook and surely the food would turn out fine, right? Wrong! No matter how much he follows the directions down to the wire it turns out horribly. Even if he wings it, it's much worse. He swore he could hear you laughing and making fun of him... even though you had been asleep for centuries.
UGH YES ZANDIK HELPING YOU 😭 Hey, he may not be able to do all of the actual cooking but he can still slice and cut things up pretty good (he has experience if yk what i mean) which is quite helpful to you since your hands are shaky. You have to comfort bb Zandy that you'll hang with him later before hugging him (he throws the meanest look and sticks his tongue out at Dottore)
Oh yes that was 💌 anon's hc !! <33 Sometimes you feel guilty for "wasting" his time so you try to not make it a habit but he always lectures you for thinking that way. I mean surely he has more important things to do than doing some silly little baking with you but he always reassures you in his gruff to the point way of speaking that he likes it.
Yup, I've been loving Fontaine very very much! The story has been my fav part and I also love the underwater scenery 💖 Good luck on your exploration! I think it is a lot of fun doing stuff in the sea, it feels so new and unique ❤️ (Sumeru desert flashbacks)

Out of curiosity. Do you have any idea/theories on why genshin sales has been flopping recently?
I have to agree with thestarsafterdark comment on another post regarding Yelan/Emilie banner. There could be a chance that people are saving for Natlan. I understand why everyone was pulling for Sumeru because of the long-awaited Dendro element. But after that, sales went down.
You would've thought that sales would've gone up with the release with Fontaine, but that wasn't the likely case. The only outlier is Furia bc of her kit after her no one else. The only possible reason why genshin failed during Fontaine was HSR. However, I went to the statistics website where the person got the stats on Genshin Revenue and even HSR is suffering badly
https://www.statista.com/statistics/1403891/honkai-star-rail-player-revenue-app/
It only peaked when it was first released, but after that, it is nowhere near the same amount Revenue it making when compared to Genshin
For genshin, the reason is simply both sumeru, and the fact that genshin hasn’t introduced any fun new game mechanics.
Genshin peaks with new mechanics, cause that’s something they actually do well- dendro is a good new mechanic, furina has a kit that opens a lot of gateways, and that’s what players want- because otherwise the combat especially feels very tiring and monotonous, and the gameplay is why people spend money for the most part.
Then sumeru is also the reason because a LOT of players dropped genshin during sumeru, even though it was a big spending region for other people. Or likely players also dropped the game after sumeru as well, or just are like me and went “eughhhhhh” after sumeru and felt no-no about spending too much money, if any money.
Honkai Star rail however? I don’t know why the sales have been low. Likely because they give actually decent rewards so players can actually save without spending any money (and likely because the meta is so specific in hsr so meta slaves are boring)- like right now I’m saving for feixiao and moze since the start of the current update and I already have 60+ wishes. Which isn’t really something you can easily do in genshin BAHAHAH, also because the way genshin works vs how hsr works- is a lot of the pulls you get in hsr is from events and quests, while with genshin is exploration based, which can get much more tiring much faster. So people just spend instead in genshin.
And I feel because genshin has a much larger audience than hsr, because while hsr is good it is also appealing to different people. Genshin is fantasy where the boobs jiggle, hsr is sci-fi fantasy where mans boobs also jiggle, totally different /s

xdinary impact au - introduction !
wc : 1.8k | genre : headcanon, au, lowkey sad idk | a/n : HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!
ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ
Gunil - Geo claymore
An Inazuman blacksmith, who works as Hajime’s apprentice. He had suddenly received his Geo vision while he was mining for ores alone, and ended up not being able to work because of the Vision Hunt Decree.
During the few months where he quietly lived on Inazuma, he became good friends with Kazuha, who is now one of his best friends.
When he was suddenly caught by a Kujou Clan member, Gunil had to fend for himself while trying to run away to not get more attention.
But, when the soldier ended up yelling for his troops, more people came, and Gunil was starting to struggle.
That’s when Gorou and a few other Resistance soldiers helped him fend off the soldiers, coming out on top.
After cleaning themselves up, Gorou asked him if he wanted to come to Watatsumi Island to potentially join the Resistance. But Gunil politely declined, as he wanted to stay with Hajime, since he still had lots more to learn.
Not being able to go to work for months at a time became daunting, so Gunil would go to work and hide his vision in hopes that he wouldn’t be caught.
Nowadays, since the Decree has been abolished, he spends his time learning and delivering weapons and goods to the Sangonomiya Shrine for the Resistance as a thanks for what they did for him.
Jungsu - Hydro sword
A traveling musician, but is from Liyue. He had received news of when Dr. Baizhu had told his family that his sister had a mysterious disease that could potentially be incurable, so he now seeks to find a cure.
And when he was out looking for herbs one day, he found a shiny “gem” at the bottom of a pond with lotuses in it, and pulled it out to find a vision.
Ever since he told his family he wanted to go out and try and find a cure, they wanted him to defend himself, so he had gotten training from Xingqiu, who helped him get a hang of the sword.
As a way to get quick money on the road, he tends to sing and perform to make people happier.
So far, he has been to Mondstadt, Fontaine, and Natlan. But, he has been unsuccessful in all of them.
When he was visiting Sumeru, he bumped into Al Haitham going to the Akademiya when he was performing on the street, and stopped him.
Al Haitham had invited him to the Akademiya to look through books in hopes to find some clue, but there hasn’t been any luck so far. When he goes back to Liyue, he always brings regional specialties for his family so they can all have a taste from a different part of the world.
Taking advantage of the time he has at home, he talks to Xingqiu and Baizhu if they have found anything, but nothing for now.
Xiangling was told by Xingqiu about Jungsu’s sister, and likes to cook them meals whenever she has the chance. With special and “interesting” ingredients, of course.
Jungsu and Xinyan also both enjoy practicing and performing together, and look at each other as mentors, as well as “bandmates.”
Gaon - Dendro polearm
A Sumerian scholar who resides in the Masters of the Night Wind in hopes to learn about the Mare Jivari.
When his family went to Natlan when he was younger, he overheard some people talking about it, and it has piqued his interest since.
Ever since he heard the little information about it, he strived to become a scholar at the Akademiya, and ended up topping all his classes in school. The Grand Sage had seen his talent, and immediately asked him about it, to which he happily obliged.
During an interview that Gaon was having with the Grand Sage Azar, he was asked why he wanted to become a scholar. This is when he talked about the Mare Jivari, and how he would like to study there to find out more about it.
Though the Grand Sage was hesitant to let him go at first, he eventually gave in, because he wanted more knowledge.Since then, he has been in Natlan.
While exploring the land, he met Ororon, and took him to meet Citlali/Granny Itzli, and is now one of her grandsons. One day, while she was helping Gaon with his polearm, he felt a powerful surge of Dendro energy flow through him and his spear, and that’s when he got his vision.
Though he doesn’t visit his family, he sends packages pretty often. Usually they contain some cooking ingredients, and messages that he is doing okay and learning a lot.
Ode - Anemo catalyst
The current Captain of the Magic Company of the Knights of Favonious.
Ever since he was a child, he’d always been interested in magic and because his father was an entertainer for children.
Whenever he played with his friends in the city, they always pretended they were wizards. If they ever saw Lisa walking around, they would always ask her questions about magic, to which she would happily answer them.
One day when they were playing around, as Ode pretended to chant a spell to lift his friends off the ground, he closed his eyes, and saw them start floating. When they all came back to the ground and caught their breaths, there was a shiny orb on the ground, which happened to be his vision.
Since then, his friends had helped him practice and hone his skills, until Ode eventually joined the Knights when he was 17.
Even though he wasn’t as good with an actual weapon like everyone else, Lisa recognized him from when he was younger, and pulled him aside. The first time this happened, the two of them caught up for a bit until she noticed his vision on his belt. This piqued her interest, and that’s when he told her about when he received the vision.
Lisa then took this as an opportunity to train him, because he had a lot of potential. Eventually, she asked him if he wanted to be Captain of the Magic Company.
Ode was confused, obviously because she was a better fit. But, she didn’t want the position, and was content with being the librarian.Soon enough, Ode, Lisa, Jean, Kaeya, Amber, Albedo, and all the other captains were sat down in a meeting room, with the hopes of Ode becoming one of them by the end of it.
After the long meeting, Jean decided that it would be a good idea, and declared him the Captain of the Magic Company.
Sadly, shortly after his declaration, his father had passed, but that was when he promised that every mission he was assigned would be dedicated to him.
Junhan - Electro bow
A Fontainian electro vision holder who writes for The Steambird, and is also a frequent goer of the Opera House.
Junhan works closely with Charlotte, so he is knowledgeable about the big shots in Fontaine.
Most of the time he is found walking around the Court of Fontaine writing down any local or big music events that are happening, so they can be put into the paper.
Ever since he was a kid, he’d always been interested in music, playing the guitar as often as he could. Sometimes he would put off his school work.
This caused his parents to worry about his education, even after Junhan had shown them that he was doing perfectly fine. Sure, a few 80’s every now and then, but very good overall grades nonetheless.
Seeing his parents still worried, he decided to stop playing the guitar for a few years to be able to focus on his studies.
Junhan was always good at writing in school, and his teachers always pointed it out to him, some even suggesting he work at The Steambird when he’s older.
When he was old enough to find a job, that’s the first thing he did. He did have a passion for writing, and he hoped that it was good enough for the paper.
After a few weeks of applying for other jobs, he had gotten a letter in the mail that he had gotten accepted as one of the writers!
The first articles that he had written were mostly about minor things, but that was until Charlotte had noticed his disinterest whenever given a new assignment. That was when she asked him what he wanted to write about, and he said music.
One time while he was walking around the Court of Fontaine, he found a shiny purple rock on the ground near a poster of an upcoming performance. After closer inspection, he found it was a vision.
When he brought it back to his office, Charlotte asked about it, and wrote an article about it, interviewing him like he was a celebrity. Since then, the two of them are now good friends in and out of the workplace and have matching keychains for their visions to symbolize their friendship.
Jooyeon - Cryo catalyst
A person of Natlan who is from the Scions of Canopy, known for helping people train their Saurians.
He isn't super close with Kinich, but the two are on good terms. Kinich says they're “acquaintances at best.”
When helping someone train their aggressive Saurian, he was given an empty vision as a thank you gift. For a while he kept it on his bedside table, not thinking that he'd be able to awaken it one day.
That was until Kinich came up to him one day and asked him to be his group mate for the Pilgrimage. Somehow he'd found out about the empty vision given to him, so he told him to bring it on the day of the Pilgrimage.
So on the day of, he brought his vision. During the group round, he was about to be stabbed by someone, before he suddenly shot an icicle from his finger, making him live.
While Kinich saw him come back, he pointed out Jooyeon’s awakened vision. When his group passed the first round, Jooyeon had also passed the individual round. So, now he was going into the 1v1s.
He had never gotten this far in the Pilgrimage before, so he didn't know what to expect. But, his other team members gave him encouraging words.
Sadly, he wasn't one of the four warriors to go fight in the Night Kingdom, but he didn't mind. He tried his best, and that's what counts!
Now, he sometimes helps hunt Saurians with Kinich every once in a while.
(sorry joo's is slightly shorter, natlan aq isn't done yet + i'm not caught up ㅠㅠ)
