Steven Universe Future Recap (Spoilers)

1. Okay, so Jasper is sort of Post-Cell Vegeta - not an outright antagonist, but not really an ally either. I do kinda like that Steven blows up at her for being a bitch for no reason when all he’s trying to do is help her, and I like that they ended the fight and went their separate ways not as friends, but still with more peace of mind than they had at the start of the episode.

2. Steven tries to help other Gems get out of their comfort zone by trying new things but does so by making them quick jobs that they were already happy with and do things that they have no experience with and without real instruction on how to do said jobs, resulting in chaos. Amethyst is now the Most Mature Gem, and that Ice Gem is freaking adorable. You know which one.

3. Rose Quartz gems unbubbled. Everything’s super awkward, and then they and Steven bond over how they were blamed for shit Rose did. Also the Zoomans are still salty over Greg dumping them and it’s hilarious.

4. So it turns out PD is responsible for Pink Pearl’s eyecrack. We basically learn shit we already knew - that Pre-Earth Pink Diamond was a spoiled brat and not a good person. And just like with everything else Rose/Pink related, the situation with Pink Pearl (or Volleyball, as she is now named) can be summed up with one sentence: “She may not have meant to hurt anyone, but she still did, and now everyone she left behind has to deal with her mess.” Steven is, understandably, sick and tired of hearing how his mother was a shitty person (much like half the fandom), and in his anger activates his new Pink powers, which results in a situation where Volleyball and Pearl fuse into Utena and Anthy’s love child.

Ok, so I noticed something

Pink pearls reaction to stevens outburst was really telling to me about exactly what her life was like with pink diamond, and I didn't see anyone else mentioning it so I figured I'd post for once.

PD never hit or intentionally hit p-pearl, but she was still abusive because she made her life terrifying.

Because of the layout of the way p-pearl told her story, it seemed like the damage to her eye was because of a single outburst. But because of her cowering in fear from steven and her acceptance that pink was just like that, I'm pretty sure it isnt.

Just imagine, you are p-pearl. You love your diamond, and she loves you. You go about your life serving your diamond, and being her friend (partner?) In private when the other diamonds aren't looking.

But it as not all sunshine and rainbows. Pink is in a bad situation, anger issues stemming from an era of emotional abuse. Combined with her powers being tied to her emotions, that's a very volatile enviroment. It's likely that everytime pink got angry, she would have huge blowouts, and she got angry a lot.

So time and time again, p-pearl would have to cower and try to stay out of the line of fire. PD rampaging and destroying everything from being frustrated by something. Constantly walking on eggshells to keep from setting her off again. It was dangerous, terrifying, and painful. P-pearl may have been hurt a couple times before the psychological crack manifested.

PD was a loving person, but she was also volatile and dangerous. P-pearl wasn't wrong to love her, but their situation didn't give either of them an escape route or way to resolve the issue. P-pearl couldn't leave or put her foot down, and PD couldn't distance herself or deal with her issues via therapy or something.

P-pearls life was volatile and terrifying, she was a slave to a dangerous timebomb. But that time bomb was just as scared as she was and was so sweet when they weren't exploding.

It was probably just easiest to mentally seperate PD in her mind. To just accept that was how she was and try to ignore that part of her.

PD probably wanted to stop, but didn't know how. Her unhappiness and neglect manifested in anger. The way the diamonds treated her didn't show her how to deal with it at all. Especially considering it would get her what she wanted, so she learned to do it even more when she was being selfish. It's incredibly hard to give up the one thing that gets you what you want when your whole world is what you don't want and the absence of affection.

The only reason PD finally stopped was because of the eyecrack and having her taken away just traumatized her so much she shut down. Being shut down probably gave her enough space to self reflect, though probably in a negative way. She figured she should hide her emotions and never let anyone get too close again. Maybe that's why the diamonds gave her spinel, she had fallen into a deep depression and they were trying to help. It worked for a while but when she had to "grow up" she probably thought it was for the best so she couldn't hurt spinel anymore.

Growing up with a stepfather who had outbursts all the time but never hit anyone, I can see a lot of similarities ( though PD was at her core a lot more loving) it's a way to control people and get what you want but your also out of control and create a lot of pain.

The important thing is rose tried, it's not like she could go to therapy or even talk to anyone about this, cut her some slack. She made mistakes and learned from them. She eventually did have a healthy relationship with greg. Which makes me curious why she chose a suicide maternity. Self destructive tendencies? Didn't know at first but then didn't wanna/couldn't abort? Who knows.

Either way, everyone was stuck in a rigid unhealthy system. Is it any suprise their development got warped? They didn't pop out the crust with fully developed ethics and their world didnt give them anything healthy to strive for.

Jasper said the same thing when we met , but this eyecracks are the manifastantion of my rage when i was pink diamond´s gems emerging manager , she made me suffer as hell , saying that my gems were trash , that i couldn´t even execute a good jobe and etc , one day she punched my face full of rage and made this eyecrack , since that day i felt so many wrath towards her , and i just want to destroy her ...which makes my powers go incredibly unstable ......and now i live with jasper ...she´s doing so well to treat me good buti know one day she would be nice .....i mean nice but in her way
