Destroyed by accident on oct.11th 2018
A technician accidently fired the gun of a parked plane.
FA-128 was hit and destroyed in the following fire
Early variants of the General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon came with black paint over the radome, this in order to not interfere with the radar system behind them, as the color, a product of a rubber-based compound , was deemed the least likely to mess with radar signals.
It was eventually changed to lighter tones after development in paints allowed for different hues, this after pilots actively complained the color made the aircraft easier to spot in the air.
