Alicole was underwhelming, but B&C takes the cake as the worst adaptation of a single asoiaf/f&b event so far:

It was so rushed and whitewashed and did not focus on Helaena at all. Where is Helaena pleading for her son's life and offering up her own life instead? Where is Maelor whom Helaena was coerced to offer up as a sacrifice and does not bear to look at? Where is Heleana being forced to make a decision that haunts her entire life? She is obviously traumatized by what happened, but having her just say "they killed the boy" does not do her character and her grief justice. I really hope we get to see more of Helaena in episode 2 because it would be really upsetting if the show just brushes her off.

Not to mention Alicent's absence from the events of B&C. Alicent was really there, worried for her daughter's and grandchildren's lives, and was the first person to offer Helaena some comfort and consolation. The more I think about it the more mad I get because we got robbed of what could have been a truly harrowing and distressing scene that would do the events and the characters justice. Book!B&C was about two mothers and their shared agony, pain, and grief. It could have been powerful and shocking from an acting perspective alone if they had followed the events of the book.

fire and blood exists in this weird place for me where theres some storylines that are cool and all but it’s mainly interesting to me as the call and response for asoiaf. unlike dunk and egg which I think stands well on its own, i vibe with f&b like a warped mirror or an alt history of what could have been in the main series. what if ned stark (cregan) came south but with an army and this time he did everything right and was super OP at southron politics. what if cersei still had three bastard kids (and named one joffrey!!) but she had a dragon this time. and an ugly ass quartered sigil. what if littlefinger (larys) was asexual and had greensight this time (he still gets harrenhal though). what if catelyn had something freudian going on with robb and he becomes a king and rides off to war and she still isn’t able to save him and all her children die before her and she sees everything she loves crumble before her and still dies a husk of her former self. what if jaime had a dragon and killed himself

i just can't relate to people who want the targaryens to look like models bc in my mind they look like gods which i consider to be a very very different vibe and one that emma d'arcy in particular just encapsulates perfectly

i know that targ incest is very normal in westeros but at the same time i cant help but imagine all the non targ wives being brought in and looking down at their little babies and just grimacing. Like do you think they just spend their kids whole childhoods hyping themselves up and trying to make themselves okay with it like "yes theyre mine but theyre also targaryens. theyre my children they belong to the kingdom. theyre my kids i love my kids, this is the best thing that could happen to my kids..." kind of choking on that last sentence lol. anyways.
