He had met Isaac on V-J Day, the last day of WWII and the same day that Peter had died and Derek had become an Alpha. At exactly 10:25 in the evening, Derek had been standing on base at Guadalcanal, when he had heard a ringing in his ears, like artillery shells in the distance, and looked at his watch to log the time. There had been a pressure behind his eyes and his vision had gone red and started fading in and out as he concentrated on the watchface. The second hand kept slowing down and speeding up and he had been having trouble differentiating between the minutes and the hours. Then something had popped, like a glass jar under the wheels of a truck, and he had been sick all over his boots before passing out cold in the dirt.

Derek comes back from WWII to his family home in Fairbanks, Alaska with his newly turned Beta, Isaac, in tow. What he finds is a burned-out house, a newly turned Beta, Scott, and Scott's annoyingly stubborn human friend, Stiles.

The One You Choose by Livinginfictions (Sterek)

Stiles hadn’t seen Scott in over a week, except for glances he caught during school hours.

One of my favorites! 13.4k of so much hurt/comfort it makes me weep with joy.

Nothing Improper by Bunnywest (Steter)

“How long since someone touched you, sweet boy?” Peter asks, his voice barely a breath in Stiles’ ear. “Days? Weeks? Months?” Stiles nods imperceptibly at that last one.

“After…after everything, after Allison,” is all Stiles manages to get out.

A post-nogitsune fic, but it's so soft I want to curl up and take a nap with it.

Good Touch by ksalterego (Sterek)

Derek notices that Stiles doesn't have a pack, so Stiles doesn't get pack hugs. Stiles clearly wants pack hugs. Also, Stiles smells far too much like Scott, far too often.

Derek decides to do something about it all.

In which Stiles woos Derek without realizing it by requesting his explicit consent again and again.

Touch-averse Derek with low-key touch-starved Stiles. I throw it on here because I'm also touch-averse, but starved at the same time so that's how I read this fic. Plus, it's just beautiful, with so much consensual touching (consent is s e x y, okay?).

Look, Derek is the worst. Everyone knows that. Their fearless leader is a total and complete failwolf.

Which means the rest of them? Are kind of the worst too. They’re a ramshackle, slap dashed, sorry excuse for a pack that’s about a half second away from getting one of them killed. And this is a problem, because Stiles would really like to survive high school. Thanks.

Still, no one deserves what Derek has gone through. Nobody.

And it’s about time somebody told him that.

Omg, I love this one more every time I read it. I am weak for 'pack coming together because Derek is starting to heal' fics. PLUS! Bonus Stackson BroTP!

Radio Tower by HyperLittleNori (Shiguresan) (Sterek)

Everything was different. The world he knew was gone. It’d been a long time since he’d started thinking he was probably one of the last humans on earth, that out there the only sentient beings were those that would devour him whole. He wasn’t sure why he continued with the radio broadcasts, continued to talk into nothingness. The only explanation was that there was a spark of hope in him yet that he wasn’t alone. The lonely safety Stiles has built around an old radio tower in the middle of nowhere is about to be broken. Stiles isn’t sure if Derek is a harbinger of chaos or hope at the end of the world.

The world building in this is just.. *chef kiss* And the writing? I was feeling every single emotion right alongside Stiles.

I can think of at least one, but it keeps getting pushed back because every time I work on it, Stiles feels like he’s off so I get annoyed and move to something else. I... might? -squints- I guess I never really thought about how people feel about touch-starved fics so I’ve never worked much on it, but I might have like, 2 in my WIP folder?
