AND WE GOT LORE!!!

Starlet was born from a shooting star and he gets power from, get this, STARS! Revolutionary, I know.

He is a 'Stardrop' fairy, him and other Stardrop fairies help to guide the lost to safety by lighting themselves aflame and leading them. While most of these fairies are not malicious, some of them have grown a hatred towards humanity and often lead them astray becoming what humans call "will-o-whisps"

Stardrop fairies are completely flame retardant

You can tell the age of a Stardrop fairy by the color of their skin. Like actual stars they change colors depending on their age, blue being the oldest while red is the youngest.

Starlet is the youngest of 12 siblings, and is considered a runt as he is quite smaller than the rest of his family, being half the size of a regular fairy. Possibly a few inches smaller than Lunar.

He's very adventurous and LOVES to run around on the ground from time to time, sure, flying is fun but so is exploring the dirt!

Also I wanted to infodump about the ConVex in this AU:

Fairies become Vexes when directly exposed to large amounts of corrupted magic which changes them both physically and mentally, making them vicious and blood thirsty

The process is reversible, but requires restraining the Vex which can be quite the challenge. And even when cured, the Vex magic will leave permanent changes to the fairy’s body, like lingering blue pigmentation, slightly sharpened teeth and altered wing shape

Neither Cub nor Scar will tell anyone how exactly they managed to expose themselves to enough corrupted magic to get turned into Vexes

But based on the faces they make when asked, it probably happened because they were doing something very, very stupid.

Karkat acts like he’s really put out with helping Dave and rolls his eyes any time Dave comes by his place and sneaks through the window, but he secretly likes the visits and makes it a point to make sure there’s stuff that Dave would like in the kitchen.

Also trolls typically treat fairies pretty poorly and fairy wings have medicinal properties that make fairy poaching an issue. So Karkat also is relieved to see Dave come by so he knows he’s okay.

Might start writing little tidbits about the AU on tumblr :)

…I need to change the story of Sea Siblings AU, after “A Mermaid’s Tale” lore is dropped..

So.. What we have:

White/Black Pearl Cookie is corrupt herself by wrath and hatred. But also is “betrayed” by Lord Oyster (but he is not).. And “death” of Frilled Jellyfish Cookie..

Sea Fairy Cookie is wanted to reach the moon. BUT somehow the frozen curse is appeared, I still don’t know, how is that’s happened.. But I know, that’s not fault of her au brother-

The Gem Mermaids, who is leaves for new waters and we don’t know, where is it.. That’s means, they’re possibly still alive.

Now, I need to create from this new lore for my AU..

And September 1st is coming..

Fun fact that's more obvious in the fic than it is in random art I share here, but Finders Keepers is a partially fantasy-inspired AU! I lump things like Werewolves and the Death Bird stuff in with that, but here's some more classical mythical creatures as they'd appear in the AU! In fact, the forest that's the story's main setting is chock full of magic stuff, more concentrated the deeper into it you go. Uzi and N live nearish to the edge, for reference. So they probably won't interact with this stuff particularly often, but not never. I've got a few scenes planned.

Firstly, Dragons. I'm a dragon guy more than anything so I wanted to do something unique. They live in subterranean caves, both naturally occurring and made by them via digging. The yellow bumps are bioluminescent, and they don't have particularly good eyesight.

Fairies! Halfway between 'little pixie who's covered in fairy dust' and 'vindictive fae who will curse your bloodline', FK!Fairies are physically frail and reclusive but mischievous to a startling degree, and they're out of touch with mortality to the point that you have to be very careful around them lest their pranks turn deadly.

Out of these four, Unicorns are the ones you'll see first as you go deeper into the wood, being the least outlandish. They have above-human level intelligence but lack either desire or capability to communicate with them. They can't actually cast anything close to a spell, to the surprise of most. But any who interact with them find themselves feeling incredibly unsettled as long as they're in eyeshot, so there isn't as much poaching as you'd think.

And finally, the most divergent I think from most common depictions, Cockatrices! They've evolved past the need for their wings, and are smaller than you'd expect. The obnoxiously bright colored spots are a two-purpose natural defense. It's both the classic 'don't eat me I'm poisonous' and also 'hey look at my spots and get distracted' because yes, they can turn you to stone. The spots attract your attention so they can do it more easily.

Like N, they all have multiple soul baubles. All Magic/supernatural creatures do. The more powerful the soul, the more baubles. Of the ones here, from most to least: Fairies, Dragons, Cockatrices, then Unicorns.

Obviously there's more magic stuff in the forest than just these four. These are just the four I've settled on designs for.

I've been thinking about what place fairies would have in Null's Stardew Valley AU, and I imagine them being as varied in shape, size, and temperament as they are in real life folklore. Also picturing them having a unanimous agreement on one thing: staying neutral about any elemental conflicts if they aren't put in danger. The dwarf reacts to Null with a wary tolerance, since they know what he is and that he isn't inherently a threat, but keeping sharp because he's a fairy and some fairies are really sneaky and cruel.

Oddly enough I imagine shadow people actually reacting with increased aggression at the sight of him, because he's also got the power of darkness in his hands yet he defies what they believe in, as well as not being on their side and willingly living among humans. Null frequently gets attacked by shadow brutes at his farm at night so he's no stranger to throwing down on the spot.
