My thoughts on the news about The Long Walk's film adaption
I have very little faith that The Long Walk will be a good adaption but maybe I'll be wrong! I can dream, and I've been wrong before. Here are my thoughts on the casting announcements and set pictures.
Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson are the leads, according to Deadline, which means they're presumably Garraty and McVries. Jonsson seems like a good actor but an awful fit for either character, and with Hoffman (presumably Garraty) it comes down to how good an actor he is, I guess, because I can see it working if I squint but I haven't seen anything from Hoffman to suggest he can do Garraty. And I reaaaaally doubt he could do McVries. McVries has a bite to him.
Joshua Odjick is Native American so he's presumably Joe or Mike (not to say that a different character couldn't theoretically be Native American in the adaption, but it's key to Joe and Mike that none of the other Walkers understand their culture at all, and only Baker defends their parents). It's odd that either of those two would have a prominent enough role to be cast already, so I wonder if either one of their roles is beefed up, or if Mike and Scramm will be a composite character and Joe won't feature at all. Alternatively, Odjick isn't playing a Native American character (or he is but Mike and Joe are adapted out), in which case I'd guess Parker.
Roman Griffin Davis is someone I've only ever seen in Jojo Rabbit so I don't know how much range he has. I think he'd fit best as Barkovitch but I wouldn't be surprised if he's been cast as Baker or Olson.
Charlie Plummer is Stebbins. I say this almost entirely because he's a long-haired blonde. If McVries is black then book descriptions (and characterizations, let's be honest, you can't make McVries a black kid in the 70s and keep his character the same) are thrown out the door already, but google Charlie Plummer and tell me he's not been cast as Stebbins. Also, take a look at this.
Ben Wang is Asian American and there are no explicitly Asian American characters, so we've gotta guess this one purely on Vibes (Olson and Barkovitch could both be canonically Asian American, but Barkovitch is openly racist, so). From Wang's YouTube channel and some clips of Chinese Born American I found, he's a nice and playful guy (hmu Ben let's get a lemonade, also tell me who you're playing), so I'd assume Baker or Olson or Abraham because they fit that the closest, I guess? But this is unfortunately a flawed way of guessing because actors playing lunatics are sometimes normal people in real life, walking among us, going almost undetected.
Tut Nyuot's a young, sweet-looking kid. I'd assume Percy? Again, weird to cast Percy already because he doesn't even have any lines in the book, but I can't imagine Nyuout playing a character who's supposed to be the same age as Charlie Plummer's character. Maybe he's unexpectedly good at playing deranged assholes like Barkovitch? We'll see.
For Garrett Wareing I'd say Olson, looking through clips and interviews.
Jordan Gonzalez gives me no strong impression. Sorry, Jordan. Feel free to give me a stronger one over lemonade (and tell me who you're playing). If I'm held at gunpoint then I'll say Abraham.
Mark Hamill is presumably playing the Major. He's absolutely not who I would have picked because he overflows with character and I always pictured the Major as a stoic, empty Big Brother type figure, whose moments of charisma and friendliness were obviously just an act. And I guess Hamill could play that, but I think the Major will more likely have a lot more personality and vim and vigor in the movie, if Hamill was cast - he's easily the biggest draw in the cast. Not necessarily a bad way to portray the Major, but easier to mess up. We'll wait and see.
Judy Greer as presumably Mrs. Garraty will presumably be fine.
Set photos look promising, aesthetically. No half-track, though. And there's a tank. Why is there a tank?
There's a Deadline article suggesting that there are only 50 kids and the pace limit is 3mph. But there's also an article suggesting it's still 100 kids so it might be a mistake? If it's 50 kids then that's presumably done for practicality but it's a bad change, the number will either get too low too fast or it'll drop too slowly (and also no 47 and 61 which would be weird but that's not significant). 3mph isn't necessarily bad, it's more feasible, but it does mean the "first into Massachusetts in seventeen years" can't happen. Maybe they'll make New Hampshire the record instead.

Reblog with your thoughts! We've got news, people, and I'm sure someone somewhere is more excited about that than I am. Let's get some discussion going on in here.
Easter is a big day in my family because I have a young nephew and my mom has always loved putting together Easter baskets. She asked him if he thought he’d been good enough for the Easter Bunny to visit him. “I don’t have to be good, Grandma!” he said patiently. “He’s not Santa.” Me, I’m hoping to get a visit from the Easter Wolf. At any rate, this week on my end was mostly Hot Lady reblogs while I was out at the garden shop (fresh pictures next week).

Could you please offer some more lore on your monkees glam verse? 🤲I love it so deeply
(also you mentioned the solution is polyamory… how would they go about that or how would it come to be?👀)
This ask couldn’t have come with better timing cause I was legit Drawing Glam rock Davy when I got the notification ✨
Im gonna be leaving to do shit soon so I’ll do the polyamory response now and lore later.
So first a recap: Davy & Peter date and then Peter goes back to the village and it becomes Davy & Micky and then when Peter comes back Davy realizes he still loves Peter but doesn’t want to hurt Micky so he goes to Mike to seek advice only to fall in love with his caring and amazing friend Mike. Davy doesn’t know what to do, he loves them all but doesn’t want to get hurt/hurt any of them.
The solution: Ultimately the solution is communication. However when you’ve got Mike (Texan and repressed) and Davy (English and emotionally repressed) trying to help each other navigate romance is difficult. At first Davy ends up pulling away from Micky because he’s afraid he’ll accidentally reveal he’s got a crush on someone else and he doesn’t want to hurt Micky but emotionally pulling away in an attempt not to hurt Micky hurts him anyway. All this while Peter is trying to convince his friends he’s not a bad person and what ends up happening is Mike gives davy a piece of really solid advice and Davy, in an emotional fit, kisses him and he’s so distraught he goes to tell Micky and Micky is upset at first and since he feels betrayed by Mike and can’t talk to Davy about Davy he finally relents and has a meaningful conversation with Peter and Peter (a village Hippy) has all this like knowledge about the sexual revolution which the other Monkees didn’t pick up on. The main one being non-monogamous relationships. (The topic comes up because Micky reveals that he’s also had a crush on Mike this whole time and never did anything about it so why did Davy? Did Davy just not love him enough to stay faithful? no) Micky and Davy have a conversation about this where Micky brings Peter to help him explain polyamory and they talk about boundaries and other stuff and when Micky and Davy have their rules in place and they’re doing much better Mike goes to apologize to Micky (because he feels guilty about kissing his bf and especially that he liked it) and Micky and Mike have a sort of spur of the moment discussion and Mike isn’t quick to jump on having 2 bfs when he’s not even ready to deal with enjoying kissing 1 boy. Now that they have the rules in place the next time Davy and Peter end up alone together Peter asks about trying again and basically it’s a lot of Davy and Micky and Mike learning how to navigate a polyamorous relationship and Peter trying to write the wrongs of his youth.
honestly byler side of the fandom (specifically mike fans most of the time) made me realize it can be really racist without intention especially regarding how they ignore lucas's character often times in favor of propping mike or mike's relationship with other characters. idk i don't even think the ga does this. if you asked them what is the relation btwn mike and max will be in the next season they'd say mike is gonna support lucas and el emotionally, like as a friend. no one with their mind would think mike's gonna interact with max or will be able to find or save her like wtf.
i know like lucas doesn't get that much in canon you're gonna take what little he has from him and make it about mike instead? lmao. i remember last summer someone on sttwt said they couldn't love lucas and max's relationship because it felt one-sided and everyone was like how dare you say this worry about byler instead etc etc but they were literally RIGHT, billy abuses max and dies, they have lucas comfort her and her dealing with her complicated feelings surrounding its death its own (great) storyline, billy assaults lucas and is racist to him and he gets...nothing? okay, he gets a blink and you'll miss it hug. you know how people are always like "has el ever said she liked anything about mike?" and stuff like that? is a single heartfelt lumax moment about lucas and not about max? and i'm not implying max doesn't have as much affection for him or saying he should have done less for her and i totally understand her situation in s4, i'm saying that the writers center max and sideline lucas in his own relationship. when they literally invented lucas first. they don't think about him. it's like @/googoogagaeyes said a few weeks ago:
Anyways, the fact that Mr. Davies "made up more stuff than [he] took from the show," for a character that has existed since S1, should signal that there is a writing problem. Although Lucas is lovely, he is also underwritten. That is the result of the Duffers and the writers room.
and i would love to have faith in them on this topic and to think that It's All Intentional or to let myself hope that they'll do better in season 5 but they won't! and not hoping for it might sound counterproductive because it's like letting them off the hook right, if no one wants white writers to do better how could you expect them to do better, but also i'm just me lmao. they won't do better or they would've done better already.
so yeahh that (black) sttwt user who got jumped by (mostly white) lumax stans DEFINITELY had a point and that incident made me stop seeing lumax stans as "the most peaceful and mature part of the fandom" lol. stans all the same at the end of the day. disregarding valid criticism because you think it's ship hate is crazy. all that to say that yeah, when people look at max, whose most meaningful connection in the show is lucas by a mile and go hm...what about mike? it does come off as "racist without intention". which is how racism tends to manifest unless you're like a white supremacist who proudly admits to being a racist lol. what about mike? while everyone's free to like some dynamics better than others and while lumax, ship so often hailed as the best one of the show, the one without flaws (even if you ignore everything i'm saying, it's not flawless, they're 14-15 and obviously struggling, if they were perfect they wouldn't be interesting), definitely has flaws, most of which can be traced back to the racist writing...looking at them and being like but what if max's most meaningful connection was MIKE, with whom most of her interactions are fights. they're best friends. don't they just NEED to bond, don't they just HAVE to be best friends, woulnd't it be SO GREAT for him to fight to get her back in s5? never mind that she has someone reading at her bedside and hoping she'll wake up any minute whose priority in season 5 is definitely gonna be to get her back. will said mike's the heart of the party so god forbid he's not the most important person in the room at all times. idk, maybe i'm just being mean right now. you're so right in saying that most of the ga would definitely never do this, they'd probably exaggerate their worst moments and say that they hate each other but i couldn't blame them when we see them argue wayyy more than we see them be bffs. because we don't see them being bffs at all.
people thought the writers had forgotten how to write mike and stopped paying attention to his character for a second after volume 2 and then realized that they haven't and that they didn't but they never knew to write lucas with all the complexity, depth and nuance they allow their white characters to have. when mike gets a conformity storyline about queerness it hits because he can technically choose for himself, either pretend to be straight and be miserable or be himself by accepting and admitting that he's queer because it'll make his life harder in a lot of ways but it'll make it worth living. lucas gets a conformity storyline that ends with a banger line, normal's just a raging psychopath. but it's not like lucas can exactly be a racist society's version of normal in the way jason is, right? he can be popular but being black isn't exactly something you can hide. being accused of trying to act white is definitely a thing when black people are seen as betraying their culture in an attempt to succeed in a predominantly white society but that's...not something i'd trust the writers to portray, especially because the thing lucas does to try to blend in, be more popular and lessen the bullying is join the basketball team, which is literally a racial stereotype. his storyline in season 4 leaves a bad taste in my mouth because their version of telling lucas to keep being a himself and a nerd sounds like having him learn to know his place. it's not the intention but him saying he "never should've knocked" literally gives that impression. and while we're on the topic of lucas in season 4, you should definitely read The Antagonism of Blackness in Netflix's Stranger Things, it's a shame this article came out in june of last year because i would have loved to read their thoughts on volume 2.
you would have to be very naive to trust them to do lucas (a character that's been here since day one!) justice, and with the fandom it's kind of like the classic "women are badly written that's why i don't care about any of them" excuse but for black characters instead. imagine this max scenario but instead of her black (ex-)boyfriend who held her as she died being intent on saving her, it's...mike? is just so "racist without intention". what is lucas doing in the meantime. the (byler/mike fans side of the) fandom is definitely not better than the writers in that regard. are fandoms ever better than the writers they love to claim aren't as progressive as them?
"Lady's Baby" (Tork) alternate vocal [More on YouTube.] Photo 1 in this video by Nurit Wilde, photo 2 by Bridgeman Images.
"[At the Troubadour, Peter] sang one of his new songs, ‘Lady’s Baby,’ and was called back for an encore." - Disc and Music Echo, May 18, 1968 (x)
“Peter isn’t sure what he’s going to do now [that he has left The Monkees], but he’s feeling free for the first time in months. Toward the end of the Monkees’ run at Screen Gems, Peter said they’d go into recording sessions and not even speak to each other much less play together.” - Circus, June 1969
“[Davy] got sick of banging the tambourine all day long. And [Micky] lost faith in himself. He never did believe he was a decent drummer, so he didn't want to do it anymore. Mike wanted to produce his own records. He wanted to have total control. I was the only one who believed in the group per se, and so there I was all by myself, wanting a group, with nobody to be a group with.” - Peter Tork, When The Music Mattered (1984)
“Taking the expression of following one’s muse quite literally, [Peter] sought to re-create in the studio the very environment that inspired him to compose the song. This endeavor included having a recording engineer crawl on the ground after young Justin to capture real-life ‘smiles and coos’ (as in the song’s lyrics). Both lady and baby giggled and squeaked through hours of expensive recording time, which seemed to infuriate some members of the band and their musical coordinator, the late Lester Sill.
‘“Lady’s Baby” was a very weird and ridiculous situation,’ recalls engineer Hank Cicalo. ‘To accommodate Peter at the time, he wanted to do this thing and he wanted it to be real spacey. So what we did was we set up the studio and brought rugs in and made a little room with pillows. He would bring his friends in and they’d sit around and he’d play a little bit. It was pretty outrageous: days and days of doing the same piece of material.
‘They would just sit around for hours and drink wine and carry on, and try to get takes of this tune. Maybe we would make one or two takes. It was OK for me as an engineer because it was like taxi time. But he wouldn’t take any help from anybody. At this point in time I thought my communication with the guys was pretty good, and I could talk to them and whatever else. There were a couple of times he got a little hot about doing this. I’d say, ‘Hey, you’re wasting a lot of time. Either we do this track, or we get on with it.’ We must have done a hundred takes on that thing. He sort of went off on his own in a lot of ways. And there was a little resentment between the guys in not working together.’” - The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees box set liner notes
“Hey listen, fair is fair. They laugh and joke about that [‘Lady’s Baby’]. OK, it cost as much to do I think as ‘Good Vibrations.’ They were laughing about Peter Tork, but that [song] is a true-to-life thing. He was living with a woman [Karen Harvey] at the time and she had a little baby [Justin Hammer] and that changed his life, you know? That gave him something to think about. He was being downtrodden by the studio in regard to his recording and his playing and his songs and everything else, but the guy was the salt of the earth. It wasn’t just Hare Krishna, waterbeds and brown rice. That guy was a very, very accomplished musician. He needed magic to be able to get in and do ‘Lady’s Baby.’ It’s a nice song. It’s true. It’s got the warmth and everything of what he was living. ‘Lady’s Baby’ touches me, lets me know that I am free, whatever it is. I remember it so well. It’s a real tune, you know? I love it.” - Davy Jones, The Monkees: The Day-By-Day Story of the '60s TV Pop Sensation (2005) (x)
"[M]y darling Karen, with whom I am still very good friends all these years later.” - Peter Tork during his My Life In The Monkees & So Much More tour, 2013 (x)
"We’re still very, very good friends." - Karen Harvey, The News Journal, July 16, 1989 (x)
Q: “The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees sessions was a productive time in the studio for The Monkees. However, none of your stuff like ‘Lady’s Baby’ and ‘Tear The Top Right Off My Head’ made it to the album. How come?”
Peter Tork: “To tell you truth… I… I never was able in those days particularly — I’m getting better at it these days — but in those days I was almost entirely unable to fight for what I saw as quality. If I didn’t get somebody fighting on my behalf then it didn’t, just didn’t come to pass. And none of the other guys was much interested in supporting my sense of quality, they had their own agendas and each one of them… I mean, not that I was left out in this regard, no one of us really supported any of the others except that, that I like to think that I tried to support Micky in a way which, for some reason, he never did pick up on. I mean, I think that Micky has a certain kind of genius that he was never able to acknowledge in himself. But be any of that as it may, I just basically think that I wasn’t feeling a part of it anymore already by that point, I’d already felt like I was odd man out, and of course I quit almost immediately thereafter. In fact, I think it’s The Birds, The Bees & The Monkees that has some tunes that were recorded after I quit.” - Headquarters radio, September 1989 (x)

So basically, here are who I feel would fit perfectly alongside the Animorph gang (Ax, Cassie, Jake, Marco, Rachel and the Auxiliary Animorphs)
*This is a mixture of what I like/are interested in and what other people like/are interested in. So just because I mention them doesn't necessarily mean I'm a fan of the work they are from*
Lastly, I'm adding what I personally feel would fit, however feel free to add onto this if you see something that I might have missed. Also, if I get anything wrong, feel free to correct me. (I'm doing my best to put research into this)

#22 - …in a rush of adrenaline - Micky/Mike
“Micky, are you sure you’re gonna be alright?”
“I’ll be fine Mike, stop worrying! Worry about yourself - you can barely stand.”
Folding his arms, Mike huffed and pursed his lips into a concerned and flat line, adjusting the way his injured foot was propped up on the bench he sat on. “I should never have entered this race in the first place. What was I thinkin’?”
Micky sat next to him and knocked their shoulders together. “Mike, stop worrying about it. It’s happening now, and they said I could be your second, didn’t they?”
“Yeah, but I know I could win this. No offense, Micky,” Mike sighed, “but you ain’t ever raced in your life.”
“Mike, you’ve got too little faith in little ol’ George here. I’ll win this. What’s the worst that could happen?”
Mike stared at him blankly. “We lose the car, Micky.”
“Ah, yeah. That. Well, other than that?”
Shaking his head, Mike put his head in his hands. “Please don’t screw this up, Mick. Please.”
Standing and patting down the racing suit he’d taken from Mike - he was lucky the two of them could share clothes, or this race would have been a lot more uncomfortable than it already was. “Mike, I won’t. I’ll win this and we’ll be driving home not as men, but as champions.”
Mike peered at him through his fingers. “You promise?”
Raking a hand through his hair and picking his helmet up off the ground, wedging it under his arm, Micky grinned at Mike. “Cross my heart and hope to die, Mikey. I got this. I’ll win it for you.”
He was about to branch off into another line of conversation when he heard someone shouting loudly that the race was due to begin in five minutes. Glancing at Mike, Micky ruffled his hair and let his palm linger on the side of Mike’s face for a moment before rushing off to the start line where Peter and Davy were waiting for him, leaning against the Monkeemobile.
Mike wasn’t wrong, really - he shouldn’t have agreed to race against some random guys they’d only known for ten or so minutes, even if they were challenging the honour of the state of Texas (in all honesty, Mike hadn’t been that irritated by the guys mocking his accent, he was more riled up at them proceeding to insult the rest of the guys, honing in on Davy’s height and voice, and Micky’s hair in particular - Peter somehow managed to avoid their line of fire by simply wandering off conveniently at the right time after being distracted by a small flock of ducks). Micky could hand it to him, though: Mike absolutely would have decimated them all in a race, even if it was in the Monkeemobile, so the man having the gall to bet the entire car on winning the race wasn’t really much of a threat.
…That was until Mike ‘tripped over’ when inspecting the race-track, falling to the ground and twisting his ankle.
It didn’t take a genius to see that the whole injury was rigged - the suspiciously large rope across the floor leading to an alley was bold enough - but it was embarrassing that Mike of all people had fallen for such a lame trap, and he was letting himself know big time. Usually for these kinds of scenarios, they’d nominate Davy next - he’d raced for them once and won, so doing it again felt like the natural thing to do, but it turns out Davy had been unofficially taken as the other group’s hostage to ensure Mike didn’t back out. Next was Peter, who was similar stature to Mike and an infinitely more reckless driver, but he’d been roped into playing referee.
And so, they were left with Micky - Micky who’d only passed his driving test based on personality alone, somehow. When they told Mike, they were positive he was going to start weeping.
Squeezing his head into the helmet, Micky felt Davy pat him on the back. “You feeling alright?”
Micky flipped the visor up and shrugged. “I’ve felt worse. It’ll either go well or it won’t - no sense in worrying over it.”
Peter whined. “Micky, we might lose the car!”
Rubbing Peter’s shoulder, Davy exhaled. “Peter, it’s alright. Micky won’t lose.” Turning back to face Micky, keeping his voice low so Peter couldn’t hear, Davy spoke: “How’s Mike holding up?”
Micky winced before deflating. “He doesn’t have much faith in me, but I think he’s stopped panicking for the most part. His foot looks real beaten up. Don’t imagine he’ll be moving much.”
“Well, you’d best get in the car before someone else comes to make sure you’re beaten up. In you get,” Davy ordered, opening the door to the driver’s side of the car and ushering Micky inside.
As the two cars waited on the start line, Micky looked around himself and spotted Mike sat on the bench near to where Davy was being held captive. He looked grumpy, but when he spotted Micky looking at him he managed to muster up a smile for him, giving Micky a small wave. Micky reciprocated the wave, lost in his own thoughts when Peter appeared very suddenly next to him and scaring the living daylights out of him.
Peter leaned against the side of the car. “Micky, the race is starting soon. Are you waving at Mike?”
“Yeah, I think he’s fearing for my life, though. To be fair, I’m fearing for my life if I lose this race,” Micky squeaked, looking at Peter through his visor, “if the race doesn’t kill me, Mike will.”
“He won’t, Micky. He cares too much about you to do that. He has faith in you.”
Micky laughed. “You sure?”
“Of course. He’s looking at you now even though you’re talking to me. He cares,” Peter reassured, making Micky turn around and look at Mike again. He was, indeed, still looking at him. “I had to tell him to not hobble over here to lecture you on how to drive.”
“Hey, ref! Away from the car! We got a race to start here,” someone yelled, and Peter flinched before waving Micky goodbye and taking his place on the start line.
-
As soon as the pistol went off, Peter raced back to where Mike and Davy were sat, his walkie-talkie issuing updates on the race buzzing in his hand. Throwing himself at the bench, he narrowly avoided Mike’s injured ankle and put the walkie-talkie between the three of them, listening to the updates as and when they came through.
“He’s past the first checkpoint now,” Davy hummed, brow furrowed, “I think he’s behind.”
“Oh good lord…” Mike whined, covering his eyes with his hand.
Peter shook his head. “It’s only the start, Mike, he’ll bring it back.”
“I.. I hope so.”
-
“Are they at the half-way point yet, Davy?” Peter asked.
“Only just. Micky’s still behind - I think they said something about him swerving in the road?”
Mike let out a small sobbing sound.
-
The walkie-talkie buzzed some more, and Peter jumped to his feet. “They’re in the final quarter now, they’ll be coming around the corner any minute now.”
Just as Peter finished his sentence, a long black car screeched as it turned the corner, coming into view and throwing up dust into the air. The three of them watched on in fear, but soon let out a sigh of brief relief when their garishly red car followed swiftly behind, almost spinning out as it turned the corner.
“There’s Micky! Come on Micky!” Davy hollered, standing on the bench where they were stationed.
Mike pushed himself up and craned his neck around Davy, watching as the cars grew closer - the Monkeemobile was gaining on the black car little by little. “C’mon, Mick! Floor it!”
The cars continued speeding down the final stretch, and soon they were neck-and-neck, Micky managing to have pulled it back. He had a chance of winning, but the black car revved some more and released another small burst of speed, sending it just that bit further ahead. MIke, Peter, and Davy all watched in horror and the Monkeemobile started getting further and further away from the other car the closer to the finish they got. For the umpteenth time that day, Mike put his head in his hands and tried to control his breathing. They were going to lose the car. It was his fault they were going to lose the car.
Mike was just shy of letting a genuine sob escape his lips when he heard a large bang! Sound, his head shooting up towards the race. Moving Davy to the side for a better view, Mike watched as the black car swerved slightly, losing speed and allowing Micky to catch back up with it. Mike analysed the black car and spotted the source of the noise - the tyre had burst, sending the driver into a panic. He felt Peter wrap his arms around his neck and Davy’s legs as they all watched closely -when the vehicles were mere metres away from the line, Mike closed his eyes. He couldn’t watch.
When he felt Peter essentially put him into a chokehold, Davy yelling, he opened his eyes again, the cars racing past him having passed the finish. “What happened? Did we lose? Peter, who won?”
“Who won?” Peter asked, screeching. “Mike, Micky won!”
“He… Micky won?!”
Davy jumped down from the bench and grabbed Mike’s shoulders. “Micky won!”
Mike felt a giant grin creep onto his face, his arms reaching out to hold Davy as well. “Micky won!”
“Here he comes now,” Peter spoke excitedly, pointing over to where the cars had pulled up - Micky was sprinting over to them at speed, tripping over his feet as he went. Peter and Davy ran over to meet him half-way, Peter essentially tackling him and Davy hopping up and clinging onto his back like a koala. It still hadn’t completely registered in Mike’s brain that Micky had, indeed, won.
As the three of them walked slowly over to where Mike was, they all stopped part-way to talk, and Mike was becoming more and more aware of the situation. He needed to talk to Micky. He needed to see Micky. Micky won.
“-and I came around the corner and this guy tried to ram me off the cliff, and I managed to swerve out of his way, but he was out to kill me!” Micky explained with energy, his hands all over the place as he gesticulated.
“Well that’s not very sportsmanlike behaviour, is it?” Peter observed.
“Not at all, you could probably get him done for that, you know,” Davy added.
“I could, but it’s too much of a hassle - I’ve already proven myself to that bozo, I-”
“Mick, you won!”
Micky turned his head to see Mike hopping over to where they were all stood, the man obviously in a bit of pain but powering through it to come and greet his friend. Micky rushed over to meet Mike half-way, and Mike essentially fell into him, the taller man using Micky as a crutch as soon as he was physically able to. As soon as they were both confident Mike wasn’t going to collapse, Micky pulled the helmet from his head and threw it aside, his curls slightly plastered down to his head from sweat. Mike stared at him, wide-eyed.
“Micky,” the Texan breathed, “you did it!”
Micky grinned at him. “I did it! I told you I wouldn’t let you down, Mike. Said I’d win it for ya!”
Micky watched as Mike was trying to find the right words to articulate his gratitude, but also watched as he found none, the man just blinking repeatedly with a giant smile plastered on his face as he stared at Micky with pride and excitement. Without warning, Mike grabbed Micky by the front of his racing suit and pulled him down into a kiss, Micky’s hands flailing as he tried to keep both of them balanced. When Mike pulled away, he still had a smile on his face, but it lessened in confidence the longer Micky stared at him in shock.
Micky saw Mike go to speak again but decided that whatever he was going to say could wait, pushing himself forwards and kissing Mike again, one arm wrapping around the back of Mike’s neck and the other snaking around his waist (both suggestively and in an attempt to maintain their balance). They only pulled apart when they heard someone who was unmistakably Davy start whistling at them and whooping, the two of them turning to face the Brit and Peter as they approached.
“Things getting interesting over here, fellas?” Davy taunted, folding his arms and smirking.
“Mike’s just showing me his gratitude, I think. Is that right, Mike?” Micky queried, quirking an eyebrow at Mike as he turned to face him.
Mike’s face was pink and he looked like he’d zoned out, just staring at Micky lovingly. Micky laughed.
“Verdict’s still out, Davy. I think he’s happy, though,” Micky offered, drawing small circles into the shirt material at Mike’s waist.
“We still have a car!” Peter cheered, hugging Davy and hopping up and down. Davy chuckled as he clinged onto Peter’s waist, the two of them glancing at Mike as he was off in his own little world.
“And you know what we can do with a car, Peter? We can drive home,” Davy pointed out, guiding everyone back to the car.
“You alright to hop over Mike?” Micky asked the dark haired man who was still grinning to himself.
He twisted his mouth. “Dunno Mick, this ankle here’s hurtin’ like a bitch. Is there any way you can drive the car up here?”
Micky shook his head aggressively. “I am not getting back behind the wheel of that car. I’ve had my trauma for the year, maybe Peter can-” Micky turned his head to speak to Peter, but he’d already made his way over to the car with Davy. “Ah, shoot.”
Mike sighed and straightened his posture. “It’s alright, Mick, I’ll try hop over.”
Micky eyed him. “No you won’t.”
“What? Of course I will - hey, what are you doin’?”
Micky made his way behind Mike and stretched his arms briefly before smiling at Mike. “Helping.”
“Helping how- Jesus!-”
Mid-sentence, Micky scooped Mike up in his arms and held him bridal-style, hugging the lanky man close to his chest. Mike very-nearly squealed at the sudden movement.
“Man, you’re heavier than you look - how’s a toothpick like you so weighty?” Micky asked as he started walking them back to the car.
“Oh, thanks Mick. Flattering, really. You use these pick-up lines on all the girls you meet?”
“Dunno,” the curly haired man hummed before eyeing Mike, “ are you a girl?”
Mike glared at him for a moment before going pink. “...Shut up and walk.”
“Anything for you, m’lady,” Micky snickered, cuddling Mike closer; the man quietly rested his head against Micky’s chest.
sometimes as im learning i tend to forget some really important aspects of the zodiacs that end up making placements make so much more sense to me.
one of these that i keep forgetting is that Capricorn is hella closed off, and will make the person closed off from expressing their actual self -- depending on where Capricorn lands in the chart, that is. this makes sense for Mike, and even Davy is some ways (although his feels like more against his will if anything, being a poster child for teen idols n' all). i would know: Capricorn Moon. and who else has a Capricorn Moon? Minky!!! ❤✨
while mine is in the 5H, his is in the 10H; we've gone over his 10H Moon before, but remembering this important fact is starting to make sense to me as to why Micky tends to be private about his life. 10H deals with the public life, careers, professions, high ranks and positions; with his Moon, an emotional & nurturing planet, there's an emotional need to be recognized, and with Capricorn in its domicile house here it's comfortable, and as Capricorn is a serious sign he take's these emotional seriously, which could explain why sometimes he might come off superficially.
we've talked about his Moon opposite to Saturn before (emotional needs going against familial responsibilities), but other aspects to his Moon are squares to both his 1H Mercury and 7H Neptune; emotional needs are battling against what other people want him to be and to present himself in a certain way, even though he just wants to be himself and also being recognized for his abilities -- the first wave of Monkeemania under Bob and Bert's control will change a mf'er, and then-on. however, i do think overtime he found a good balance of both so that he doesn't have to compromise his individuality in sake of his career.
though, his Moon does trine his 2H Venus! that get-up-and-go Aries spirit within Venus' love for the arts flowing together with his emotional needs towards his career of his Moon has brought him loads of abundance time after time! this is definetly i would say, in my astrological opinion, his most important aspect to his entire natal chart. tapping into this part of him is what has made him successful! and with his Taurus POF in it's, another, domicile house, it's comfortable and works as it's intended.
but one more thing: any placements within the 2H will make them insecure -- meaning that he'll often put himself & his own abilities down because he may not feel confident in them at times. Micky constantly does this. i'm begging for him to understand is that his abilities are what got him to where he is, and thanking everyone who helped you, while very kind, doesn't diminish the efforts he's put in! he has got to work on patting himself on the back every now and then, if he hasn't already. or else i'm gonna do it for him.
since it's Aries season and Taurus is coming on up, he's got himself in the right position for success within this tour. our transiting Jupiter, the planet of expansion, faith and abundance, will enter Aries soon and Taurus then after, which will transit along his 2H. so whatever he's trying to accomplish he's for sure going to do it. and, as i've said previously, hopefully gives him any closure he's been looking for.
did i mention i love micky ❣💕💓💗💖 just in case you didn't know :3
kale you have once again so eloquently summed up everything i have ever thought about micky ever and i love it and love you for it so SO MUCH!!!! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
