"But in the end, I... still think... it's so unfair," Yin Yu sobbed. "If I wasn't destined to be perfect, I at least wanted to be perfectly kind. But... I couldn't even manage that. It's really... so unfair. And to tell you the truth, I can't get over it, even now. I can't swallow the fact that I'm dying for this little bonehead, Yizhen. I can't even let go and die without resentment or regrets. What the heck..." "Better than most people huh?" Yin Yu gave a small, arduous chuckle. Then he sighed, and the sound of his last regret passed along with his soul as he mumbled, "But I wanted to be a god..."

thinking, thinking about this so hard im going to throw up:
Tumblr media
Prospector Saloon, so quiet so dim; Courier Six seated at the bar, flipping through a magazine, Trudy cleaning wine glasses, both complaining about the weather. Courier Six with his hand-me-down boots, holding a Varmint rifle, an old gift from an old friend, hunting geckos and coyotes. Courier Six, watching windmills spin in the distance, sitting on his own grave, smoking over it like that checkered-coated man did years ago. In his fuzzy daydreams, in his restless nights sometimes he sees him: in dusty memories so distant, so ancient now.
Courier Six, touching the small scar on his forehead, smiling with a mouth full of yellowed teeth.
Courier Six, who has only heard of the Legion in campfire stories, Courier Six who changes stations when the news sing about that antebellum giant held in Legion hands. Old World far away, unknown and redundant; Hoover Dam painted in crimson, so what?
Courier Six who does not know, who does not care about the bones of the Republic displayed on crosses, the martyrs buried in the sand, all that was lost, all that could have been- Courier Six who does not know because Trudy's beer is cold enough, the water is clean enough, home comfortable enough. Doc Mitchell holds ice over his bruises after a long day and his bed is warm in the afternoon. He watches from his window, his fate asleep, nothing but lone and level sand to be seen, streching for miles and miles, the wasteland resting soundlessly under the lazy autumn sun.
Courier Six in Goodsprings, small and familiar world, hunting geckos and coyotes. Courier Six in Goodsprings, holding an old friend's gift.
He, the nomad who has finally come home. He, who have doomed Mojave with his passivity, his absence. He, growing old in ignorance.
Sometimes, a familiar voice crackles through the saloon's radio, telling tales of a dam bathed in crimson hues, of a war long lost. Tales of twelve-year-old desert boys wearing uniforms too big for them, of bloodstains on the walls of Californian clinics, of red-clad soldiers dying in their twenties for a man who has burned their futures so that his own torch could blaze over New Vegas.
But Courier Six in his little hut, his little town... A simple life of a simple man closing his eyes under a starless sky and into a dreamless night.

this doesn't really have anything to do with anything, but i can't get over how pleased/happy/proud ms chief doctor landon looked here. giddy with delight and relief that her son snagged himself a marriageable gentleman. and a neurosurgeon at that!

anyway can you imagine the sheer number of "everybody lives/nobody dies" claudeleine fics there would be if they were men and not women. the sheer number of fics dedicated to the month or two they spend living together away from the coven.

The thing about the Hubologists in Fallout is that they've never been particularly well-integrated into the setting from a worldbuilding perspective; they were introduced in Fallout 2 as a very 90s-flavored swipe at the topical punching bag that was Scientology, one of many ways in which that game was much more about 1990s culture than 1950s culture. In Fallout 4 they're just kind of there, and they're depicted as terminally collectively out-to-lunch in a way that heads off any analysis of how sinister and robust of a power structure the referent organization is.
But the thing is that they do very thoroughly belong in the setting in some form, because if you're going to set a game in the ruins of the just-below-the-surface insanity of mid-century Americana, you can't not talk about the Scientologists, about the cults and the rest of the new-wave woo. You can't not talk about Jack "Rocket-Wizard" Parsons. You can't not talk about America's centuries-long track-record of spawning wackadoodle religious movements and doomsday cults in the face of social upheaval. They somehow wrote an entire DLC about Mormons without touching on that subtext once, so it would be nice if the Hubologists could be leveraged for a do-over.

Yeah yeah we've talked about how Adrien is fundamentally someone who hides behind lies and performances and how he has no real sense of self beneath that, but have we ever talked about how maybe said lying is a love language to him?
Maybe all he could ever want is someone who hides behind a mask, who refuses to show him their true self the way he refuses to show his. Maybe he'll be told a lie—a blatant, horribly-told lie, one he can see through instantly—and instead of being betrayed or hurt he'll feel understood.
If he's accepted that living and being part of the world is just cycling through masks (and everyone that denies this is just too good at the game to admit it, too cowardly to admit they're just a collection of falsehoods the way he is)... who better to love than someone who will cycle through masks with him?

Ulysses obsession with the Courier is a special type of sad to me cause the Courier’s part was so important but so unwitting. They had no idea what was in the package they delivered and neither did he. Neither had an idea of what it could’ve done and the Courier was only caring out their job (mind you the Courier could be killed via notes in the express contract if they don’t). To them it was just another regular delivery to the divide and one that they likely thought would help, just like all the ones before.
It’s so tragic for Ulysses to hold so much ire to the Courier when it really was the case of it could’ve been anyone. Anyone could have delivered that package but they did and so he focused the blame on them and it destroys what he is trying to instill in the courier on a fundamental level.
#like yeah the courier delivered the package but in the end that’s a job#any random courier could’ve delivered it especially since we know in the past the factions were farther apart and this travel was a smidge#safer but courier six got it and this Ulysses blamed them#like I don’t care much for Ulysses because I think lonesome road embodies don’t shoot the messenger at it core#and what people focus on doesn’t focus on the fact that in the bigger picture#everything went wrong because two factions were at war and at some point the codes would have been delivered#and the divide destroyed cause with how close it is to NCR territory it would of been found#like there is an inevitable and too many people treat Ulysses as if he knows more or is more aware of the idiosyncrasies of conflict#when he’s like fundamentally flawed just at the standard of being a legion apologist STILL and just how focused he is on one persons#involvement cause yeah choices matter even the small one but I think Veronica’s quest says it best with a line from the courier#you can’t control what they do#like the courier couldn’t and can’t control what they deliver and yet it’s got them in hot water multiple times#like do you think they enjoy being shot or knowing they are indirectly responsible for activating the annihilation of a community#to me it’s hypocrisy to be willing to end the world or one world to prove a point and whatever argument made that only military factions#suffer forget there are innocent civilians suffering that had no part and Ulysses is no better than the Courier#I don’t like devils advocate and a lot of the dlc just feels like that but idk I know people love it but the depth is just not there for mr#ulysses fnv#fallout#fallout new vegas#courier six#the courier#lonesome road#the courier has very little personality outside what we give them but some lines and delivery paint a picture#like uhhhh undertale deltarune rules ig

what fucks me up about the bear dinner scene in s2e6 is the NOISE.
the constant cacophony of arguing and yelling and proclaiming everything's fine and all is good and i love you and merry christmas and its so nice being together and oh how amazing to get together and oh-
the editing is so frantic, its like you're actually in that tiny kitchen, your eyes and ears trying to keep up with the five different conversations going on
10/10, recommend, its been so long since a show made me physically ill like that

What if. What if I made my sole survivor trans. House wife lawyer turned themself in the wasteland. What if. What if I did that.
Like you’re no longer burdened by your pre-war self. A miserable person, though loving of her husband, who never got to be who they wanted to be. Or maybe never thought about it to begin with. But the wasteland? well all the structures of society that held her back before aren’t there anymore. No one knows who you are, only that you’re someone looking for your lost son and maybe that you were cryogenically frozen. Your husband is dead. Your kid wouldn’t know whether or not you’re his mom or dad, he’s a baby! It’s a clean slate isn’t it? Codsworth wouldn’t give a damn, if anything he’d put on that cheery voice qnd be proud of you…
Might make you seem less frail to the people who stole your son? Maybe they don’t recognize you, or rather, maybe they see the wasteland hasn’t killed you so much as hardened you to a fine point. I mean there’s a film noir detective running around, a zombie as mayor of an entire town, huge green dudes, and giant fucking murder lizards around. You’re only going to be half the freakiest thing around. Besides! People are getting swapped out for fakes, you’re all starving and dehydrated, radiation poisoning is constant threat, and people constantly attack each other to get any resources they can. You’re hardly their biggest worry at the moment, right?
Now that I think about it, the sole survivor is a fun character to make trans. Hmmmm.
#also as an aside why the fuck does Nora have power armor training. the game didn’t think too hard about that.#MacCready needs a boyfriend#and Kieran. well Kieran would make an excellent man#fo4#fallout 4#the sole survivor#sole survivor#fuck you. makes your house wife a man#also as an extra aside#I get why people don’t like it#but I do like the theory that the sole survivor is a synth#like inevitably it is entirely your personal preference wether or not you like the idea#but I got it started in my head when I saw some of the skeletons in vault 111 are in the same place they were as you entered#and some of your neighbors are already in the vault. despite the fact that elevator is too slow for it to have made two whole trips#the entire other section of the vault is full of dead frozen people ! how the fuck did they get there#you were in a rush to get down there as soon as it started happening#like I KNOW Bethesda isn’t that thought out#and that there are just as many weird details with that line of thinking as a plain old human sole survivor#but it’s a really fun concept#don’t know if it fits Kieran but y’know#like I know there’s not many reasons for the institute to do that#but they also don’t really get a defined#reasons for sending synths out in the first place as far as I remember#all I remember is tinker Tom talking about terraforming and maybe being right???#whatever#I like it. I’m having fun. even if I don’t super buy into it#I love the idea of it#anyways#I’m done#fallout

Y'know the fact there's only up t' 12 options on polls really kills an idea I 'ad... is what I would say if I hadn't the vision t' make my idea 'appen anyway! We're gonna do 'Favourite Group Patient of Vault 22'!
Split into 3 categories. 1 poll for Case 164, 2 polls for Case 173, the 14 split evenly into 2 polls of 7 names. Same order as on the Terminals, in the same format too (I will however remove the semicolon typo in 173). Just pick the soon-to-be Spore Carriers you like the most on each of the 3 polls.
An' if y'am gonna vote, vote in all 3, yeah? Or at least both 173 polls, I want a Top 173 Patient. I can only do 1 poll per reblog, so find '173 Group 2' go t' there an' all 3 polls'll be available for ya. Or don't, I car actually tell ya what t' do after all.

I loved the hbomb plagarism and roblox oof videos but I do think putting him on a pedestal and praising him for being the guy that destroys the careers of shitty ppl is a weird reaction to have to a video where a good chunk of the message is "any youtuber you watch ever needs to not be simply trusted by default and you should be fact checking constantly, because blind trust gives them a lot of power over the narrative of whatever they're explaining"
