I’m rewatching every Star Trek episode starting from the Original Series, and I’d forgotten how in “Balance of Terror” everyone’s whispering. Like, Kirk tells Spock to work quietly, and the Romulan commander is shushing his crew. Are they afraid the sound (from INSIDE their ships mind you!) is going to travel across the nigh vacuum of space and tip the other off to their location? I feel like if their sensors were that incredibly sensitive they’d first catch the sound of the hundreds of other folks in the ship going about their business. Love it.
