hi how do you make so many famazing friends and meet like minded people 🥺 I know I need to work on my vibes in general but like I'm such an anxious hermit and I hate it, I come out of my shell on drugs but I also don't have any social media except Tumblr and I feel like that's just how people keep in contact and maintain friendship these days And like Facebook is where you get invited to parties and events. Is it true?

Hi sweetheart ❤︎ I was very anxious for years too, all through my teens and 20s. I had a really difficult time making new friendships and maintaining them, and i felt super lonely for a long time. Traveling and moving around to different parts of my city helped me come out of my shell, and forced me to be more adaptive and outgoing. i think one thing that has helped me maintain new friendships is following up with people, and not categorizing people as real friends vs aquaintainces who might reject me. Idk why i had this idea for a long time of not being able to talk to someone if i had just met them, or feeling like i would be percieved as weird for trying to strike up a conversation with someone i just met through a mutual friend. A lot of people also feel lonely and want more friends, so rekindling older relationships (former coworkers, classmates, etc) was one way i made closer friends as an adult. A simple text "How have you been? I thought of you because of ____" could mean a lot to someone! It's the best way to deepen a friendship with someone who you may not consider to be a close friend yet.

as far as social media goes, i did use it to meet my bf, but beyond that i would say i havent made any real friendships, outside of being a passive tumblr mutual lol. I doubt the importance of social media, especially when you compare it to meeting people irl. I definitely abused Facebook's event section when i was looking for underground parties to go to right after i had been dumped. I did meet people that way, but the funny thing is i only see those people again at parties.

The most common way i make friends is through music and work. i'm a pastry chef, and i've made lifelong friends with other chefs i've worked with over the years. I'm in a band, and i often host jam sessions with my bf and our friends. We encourage everyone to bring anyone who might be interested in joining us and making music for the evening. Maybe there's something you love doing that you could share with others, and meet more people that way. It could be art classes, sports, dance, video games... idk you but i know there is something that you love doing, and that is probably the best way to make friends. i really hope this made sense and wasn't too long!
