What’s a podfic? I saw something related to countdown abt it
In reference to this post
A podfic is basically like an audiobook for fanfic. (Think ‘podcast’ but fic). Where amazing creators take a fic and read it aloud often with voices. As a long time audiobook addict since the days of books on tape, I think it’s a wonderful addition to fandom and was incredibly honored when @your-dose-of-obidala asked to do one for Countdown. The idea that someone would like something I wrote enough to spend the time doing that is just … I can’t even begin to describe it.
I listened to it the other day and her 15 year old Padme is a lovely mix of imperious and innocent. If you like audiobooks or podcasts give podfic a go. People never cease to impress me with all the different talents they bring to fandom.

This might be a kinda weird thing to say but I’m actually really relieved that the sfth fandom doesn’t emasculate Luke. I’ve seen other fandoms where the smaller people/characters are constantly called “schmol bwean 🥺” by the fandom and it’s always so uncomfortable (especially when it’s real people, like that is a grown ass man that you’re babying). And like I know that this is technically not a huge deal but it’s always been a big fandom culture pet peeve of mine.
Anyways I just find it so lovely that this fandom able to appreciate Luke’s cute moments (which there absolutely are don’t get me wrong) without treating a 30-something year old man as a child.

Would you have any thoughts about the Gaang in a modern au (either with or without bending), especially jobs? I legit love how there’s never been a consensus of how they’d live, especially job wise, in the fandom — except for Katara, she is absolutely a doctor, surgeon, ER badass. Personally, I love the thought of Zuko as a child protective agent, and Sokka as a high school teacher, not just for the dramatic Zukka potential lol haha either way, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
aaa ok i love and adore to see how their roles get translated in modern au’s in such clever ways, i loveee your ideas for zukka workplace drama that’s so 🥺 ok i’ll list some of my faves but feel free to add
-doctor katara SO TRUE and activist katara also so true either way she’s helping people and giving all she’s got
-aang also activist monk-turned *insert job that has to do with flying?? or meteorology??* AND i love the silly little headcanon he and zuko are lion dance partners dkfjdj
-toph wwe champion. without question
- jet could also work with kids tbh as either a child protective agent too or teaching martial arts classes for kids as some sort of social program he zuko and toph have an underground fight club every tuesday he and iroh have a wholesome breaking bad situationship going on with banger edibles
- zuko the guy with 294737 job options tbh either as jasmine dragon clerk, firefighter, historian / khon expert and standing authority on the ramakien, parkour guy, sword guy, guy who goes to business school just to learn how to efficiently dismantle dad’s financial empire, and i am extremely partial on muai thay champion-instructor zuko who has like a post-injury gym program just for the zukka of it all of him helping sokka with his leg during rehab 😌
- sokka also guy that can do anything tbh wether working as inventor or in tech/mechanic fixing things, working at a science museum (hi robin), marine biologist (hi kath) working as an astronomer or at the planetarium bc he’s always been fascinated by the night sky and the moon, artist, poet, mythbuster, sword guy as well, all of these at once. most importantly he has an insanely popular food blog on the side
- suki kendo captain of an all-girl club
- florist mai. (specifically ikebana artist) which is comic canon and in context made little sense but i love it it’s beautiful bc it brings me to
- tattoo artist ty-lee 💕
- and azula uhhh nepobaby electrician

i think i wouldn’t hate disco elysium’s collage mode nearly as much if it weren’t for 1) the way that it was marketed in such a tasteless, soulless manner, let alone the fact that it was a last ditch distraction from a dead on its feet studio piloted by dumbass thieving execs and released on the day of the court declaration, and 2) those dumbass fucking stickers
like if it had been included with the base game from the start and had been titled something a bit more tasteful and in-line with how i would have liked the feature to be marketed as— something like “exploration mode”, something that perhaps could only be unlocked after completing the game for the first time, AND didn’t have those stupid as hell visually and tonally incongruent with the artstyle stickers, i would have applauded it as a nice little bonus for being able to study and appreciate the 3d models and environments for reference.

Oh Frigga No!
She'd been handling it fairly well up to this point (admittedly all she had to beat in the Parental Helpfulness Olympics was 'fainting at the worst possible moment,' but still). She'd said Odin lied so their son wouldn't feel different, and that they are his family. So far so not-just-fainting!
But then she tries to reassure him on the topic of Thor with this little zinger and oh well done, Frigga, now he's going to wonder forever...
I like that Frigga's mistake is an inadvertant truth at the wrong time, because what annoys me in this scene is the 'why did he lie?' and her answer which also completely sidesteps the issue of 'why did she lie?' Probably with good intentions, and even the son she lied to his entire life doesn't think to hold her responsible for that, perhaps because everyone trusts Frigga and always assumes the best of her. The opposite of how weirdly only half the characters on Asgard the audience who knows who the baddy of this movie is going to be her people view her little lied-to son.
Frigga's a liar but she knows how not to look like one and apparently she is great at it. Maybe she was lying about why Odin (and herself) lied to Loki, clever enough to conceal it if there really was an ulterior motive there. And then she immediately gives the game away, or - worse! - maybe she doesn't give anything away but manages to give the impression that she has when she tells the truth about her other son (who, we should not forget, has also been constantly lied to about all of this).
Loki moves away because it seems like it must be the truth, because he trusts her. Dad must have been lying because Mum never would. Except she did, without any loss of reputation, often and apparently well, but not this one time when complete concealment of what she knew might actually have been the wisest option.
Oh well, at least her little boy is at last about to graduate from Frigga's School of Lying Like a Liar Who Lies and go out into the big wide world! I'm sure that will go well for everyone!

(my other thing is that like, in many cases the queerbait hoyay ships were more fun BECAUSE canon was more willing to make them be Fucking Weird about each other under the guise of hetero male friendship)

Qui gon would've been so proud to see his once so impulsive and feisty padawan a menace to his nerves, becoming the orders greatest pride.
Their most reliable jedi and litteral incarnation of the ultimate jedi. One of the most wise and powerful masters in the entire order at his time and a member of the high council, a victorious war hero and General. Respected and admired, someone the other knights and younglings go to for advice, to hear all his teachings, practics and advices from his experiences, the other masters seeking his opinion on important matters from time to time. The very first jedi to kill a sith in 1000 years. Yes the pure source of the light side of the force itself.
