i really do genuinely think that a lot of the hate towards billy comes down to jealousy
jealousy over him being one of the only characters with a backstory, jealousy that his backstory is so rich, jealousy because his trauma and abuse isn’t something up for debate, that it was shown on screen, jealousy because he isn’t a one dimensional character, jealousy because he’s so interesting

i can kinda understand being annoyed at the new layout on the principle that unique is more fun, but also like.
the new layout isnt particularly annoying or difficult to use. i mean, it's popular for a reason, it's a very simple and functional layout. i do wish websites had a bit more individual personality still, but this doesnt really feel like a hill worth dying on imo. it works just fine.

Jensen's ass is EXACTLY what I expected, and I don't understand the ridiculous wank rn. It isn't flat, y'all just don't understand that he is a white man how bodies work. Most people with Jensen's physique aren't gonna get cake when they bulk out. Thick thigh muscles and worked glutes make butts look smaller in comparison, especially if you don't have a tiny waist and the angle is almost directly from the back.
His ass was proportional, and I'm appalled at the types of comments and memes Jensen could potentially see, comparing it to Hank Hill and the like. Y'all don't deserve to see anyone's ass, truly.
And as for the clenching jokes... thinking about that post about men having to fast and dehydrate and suck in to show muscle definition for the camera, plus thinking what's going on canonically in that scene, and thinking it's just fucking natural to have his backend tightened like the rest of his muscles.
I think Kripke shouldn't have built up the hype, but I also think people that are disappointed about Jensen's perfectly-proportional (and grabbable) ass, studied that "the slope of Jensen's ass" post so much they forgot: that was from softboy season 1!! He never had a bubble butt. He just had a soft, still-developing, 26-year-old body, and the camera angle on that pose was deliberate.
I also simply don't understand the people expecting the butt shot to be sexy--but maybe that's an ace thing idk. Nudity in The Boys is typically comical or gory, not aesthetic. 🙄
Anyway, I love butts but I'm an ARMS girl and I am THRIVING. ☺️😘

Something that's really crystallized for me in recent months is that the kind of performative hype (or pre-emptive disappointment) that goes on in social media spaces is simply not something I can be heavily party to if I want to have an honest experience with a game.
Rumor-mongers, streamers, influencers-- what are they to me? What is their opinion to me? They are not me. They have not lived my life nor do they have my specific set of biases. They are not possessed of the specific lens through which I would naturally experience the story and mechanics. They cannot give me my opinion, nor am I motivated in any way to adopt theirs because of that whole authenticity issue.
But if I try to divine what the "acceptable" or most common opinions are, it does little but destroy my ability to enjoy anything at all. It makes me want to hide it if I do enjoy it for fear of punishment. And let's be real here--there's a metric fuckton of poison and faux anticipation out there that's generated for no other reason than engagement.
Truth lies in the one on one experience with the game, relatively free of influence or the social pressure to agree to anyone's take.

I wanted Cordell and Cassie to work more cases solo like Cordell and Micki did season 1, but then people started shipping them more seriously and now I’m glad Kevin arrived and Trey is now a Ranger. I am intensely against following the too well worn trope of different gender partners ending up together. I really like that Walker has stayed away from that and hope the show continues to. Jared likes to tell stories untold. He liked that about SPN focusing on the brothers and not romance. And I hope he chooses platonic work partners over romantic partners again.
Yeah I wish we'd gotten more of a chance to see Cassie and Cordell grow as partners but seeing them grow as friends has been fun
Jared seems determined to stay away from that tired trope. Maybe we'll see a partner shakeup in the future. I'm hoping for a Cordell & Trey teamup personally

Do you think it’s wrong for Upstead’s to hold out hope for a happy ending? The last thing I would want for a ship that has meant the world to me is for it to turn into what L*nsteads have become.
No, I don't think it's wrong to hold out hope. Especially right now when the season isn't over and everything is fresh. And it's true going into next season as well if Tracy is indeed sticking around.
Another thing that can't be denied is the situations are very different. Jesse has said that he's open to coming back. That is something that was made abundantly clear was not going to happen when SB left the show. So there's far more of an open door here.
All that being said, I don't think it's right to lump all Linsteads into the bitter camp. Yes, some have moved on and become Upstead fans. Great. Some have done that but still have a little candle for Jay and Erin. Also fine. Others still watch the show and are fine/understanding of where the story has gone because they know people, fictional or otherwise, have to move on. But they still prefer Linstead. They still write fanfics, make edits, gif sets and whatnot for them. Good for them. That's the ship that's spoken to them, and they still feel inspired by it, and there's nothing wrong with that. And others still do all that, who create that content and haven't watched the show since the season 4 finale (maybe a little into season 5). And there is nothing wrong with that, either.
Bitter fans exist in all ships. All of them. Both while a ship is alive and well and after it's over and one or both characters have moved on. Upstead is no exception to that. No ship on PD (or any other show or movie) is. Asshats being Asshats are as predictable as death and taxes. The only thing you can do is what's best for you.

If you're looking for a really fun game, go to r asoiaf and take a shot every time someone mentions Dany going mad/being powerhungry/a tyrant/awful boring character/white saviour
Guaranteed death in 30mins or less

I try to avoid seeing and seeking out anti dany bs cause I’m the type of person when I see someone being mean to something I love I take it as a personal attack (i know but I’m sensitive lmao) so for my mental health I really don’t go searching for antis comments about her or really anything I love. Clearly you’re just being funny and making fun of them being so…. Obsessed with her… so that does sound like a very fast way to keel over LMAO

Ok, so what I’m seeing out there on the birdie app is that authors who generate enough interest in their fanfic that they’re able to sign with publishers...
who understand that in this day and age the average reader in their target audience who is going to be purchasing books does not have the time/energy/inclination to stand around trying to decide if they want to spend $15 on a book that is meant to be the literary equivalent to a bowl of popcorn or a glass of milk right before bed, that they might not even like, when they can snag something that looks like it checks several of their favorite ticky boxes in a minute and a half or less...
and who finds an artist they like and work well with to create their cover art (which is also the visual equivalent of a shiny piece of candy and not meant to be the next ‘The Birth of Venus’)...
is bad?
What I’m getting out of this is A) people who read romcoms/YA novels/horror stories/quick read books that aren’t meant to be High Art are Not Getting It.  And the authors who recognize and lean into those genres and have found a good way to market those books are somehow lowering the standards of literature because they aren’t... what, working hard enough?
Sounds like elitist borderline-classist bullshit to me, but what do I know.

Idk if I'll ever say a fandom "needs" more fics. I think over 500 works over the course of 2 years and 3 seasons is pretty impressive, especially after only having one serious event. We also have to consider that the fandom (at least the portion interested in creating content) isn't that large, we're all adults with lives and responsibilities beyond fandom, and that the last couple years have been a little crazy for everyone
I'd like more fics for sure but usually my solution to that is to just write them (if I have the time). If you want more fics, write them, start events, or at least engage more with the fics you have and give writers a reason to keep plugging along
I'm just rambling but yeah I've seen a couple of comments about us "needing" more fics and idk it's got me feeling a certain type of way :/
