Sometimes I do a Fanfic Roulette in which I pay no attention to the tags and only to the summary. Note, I have my absolute NOPES blacklisted so it’s not as dangerous as it sounds regarding that context.

The issue is you can very easily get me into ships.  

Essentially, I may or may have gotten into a few Rarepairs in the past *checks* sixteen days because of this.

Suggested rules: There are many ways to play this game. This program generates four fanfiction tags from a list of random tags for you to use.

Game 1: Use three out of four of the tags and write a crack ficlet for any pairing of your choosing for ten minutes. Then read your concoctions to your friends. The tags can be fully expanded on or used as a throwaway reference in the fic.

Game 2: Use the tags to start a fic, setting the timer to 3 minutes. Pass your fic off to the next person, who has three minutes to write more for it. Continue around the group, until everyone has added on to each fic. Time recommended for a game with five people. Adjust for different amounts of players.

Fic Roulette

Here's the rules.

1. Go here and generate a random number between 1,000,000 and 10,000,000. There are some id's beyond this range, but I just use this one.

2. Append said number to the following URL in the address box of your web browser and then hit Enter or Return or whatever:

3. Even if you don't think you'll be interested in the story, you don't much care for the fandom, or it's written lolterrible, play the game. You are only "allowed" to have a do-over if:

a.) You get an error message, probably Code 1 which means there's no story with that id.

b.) The story is in a language you can't read.

c.) The summary/fandom/warnings/anything involved triggers you. (obvi)

d.) You really don't want to be spoiled for a certain thing and there's a spoiler warning.

3.5. If you have no goddamn clue what the fandom is or who the characters are or what the fuck is going on, do some wiki research at your discretion. All spoilers are at your own risk.

4. Read the whole damn thing all the way through no matter how long it is. Even if you get that massive Smash Bros. opus monstrosity. But you'll probably just get a one-shot.

5. Leave the author a nice message, review, whatever. Long. Thoughtful. Constructive criticism.

6. Play again if you want to.

Harry prided himself on having a strong sense of smell, probably an acquired skill from his dogfather, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin, two of his dad’s closest friends. The dog animagus and werewolf had probably passed on their noses to Harry through osmosis, considering how much time they had spent around Harry. (A lot. The answer was a lot.) That strong sense of smell was picking up something that seemed a little out of place. The smell of ink, parchment and old leather surrounded him, and he could pick out rosemary and a tint of chocolate and strawberry from Hermione’s perfume. But under all those, there was a lingering scent of something darker than the witch’s light, bright spritz. Something muskier and bloodier, something that smelled a little forbidden, something that smelled a lot like... Tom Riddle.

😯😯 a great question!! i’m pretty open to anything while reading fics, but from all the ones i’ve recced, i’m sure there’s a secret pattern i am not privy to 😂😂😂

for the roulette, i’m randomly going through bookmark pages with my eyes shut or picking one of the tabs i have open on my phone 🤣🤣 someone let me know if they notice a pattern, please, because it would explain so much
