What about quinn x herding dog hybrid Darling who is growling and snarling at Quinn but then look! Sheep 🐑 and just starts herding them, they still glare at quinn from afar but again 🐑, maybe they even start herding quinn, quinn would definitely get jealous if darling starts herding the workers who come in to help harvest

That’s soooo cute 😭

You’d swear on your life that Quinn was secretly a wolf or coyote. She doesn’t look or smell like one, but something about her— maybe her smile?— raises your hackles like no-one else could.

You can’t help growling and snapping at her whenever she gets a little too close to you or the sheep you’d begun to look after at her suggestion. You were high-energy, and needed something to do, after all.

Of course, Quinn loves to lean on the fences around the pastures and watch you care for the sheep from afar. She could spend hours like that, laying her head atop her arms and smiling as you gently nudge the sheep into the right directions, and spend the rest of the time scanning the trees and brush around the property for threats. When you make eye contact with her and glare, Quinn only smiles wider, maybe waving or blowing a kiss just to watch you snarl.

Quinn does her best to keep you and your little flock of sheep away from anybody she hires to help out around the farm, but sometimes there’s no avoiding it— like when the sheep need shearing, and you can’t stand to leave them. Watching you banter playfully with the shearer, tail practically wagging, has Quinn’s blood boiling. She has to step away and take a breather to keep from leaping over and beating the pulp out of them in front of you.

Later, you find Quinn to ask her about it— you saw the look in her eye as she walked away from the pens. You’d slowly been acclimating to her presence and taking to her more, a bright spot in Quinn’s days.

“I didn’t like seein’ how scared the lil baby sheep were.” Quinn says. It wasn’t the truth, but also not a lie— the first shear can be frightening for some sheep.

“I didn’t either,” you admit.

“You didn’t? Seemed like you were real nice and cozy in there, chattin away’n all. Almost felt like you’d forgotten alllll about the sheep.”

“No,” your mouth twitches angrily, and Quinn can hear the faint growl you try to suppress rumbling in the back of your throat. “I didn’t like that guy you hired. Too rough on the babies.”

Quinn scoffs. “Then why were you all over him?”

“Sometimes it’s better to stay close to a threat. I was gonna rip their throat out if they so much as nicked one of my babies.”

Oh. Quinn blushes a little at the thought of you covered in someone else’s blood.

“Wait… ‘s that why you’ve been ‘round me more?”

Your nose wrinkles and you wave your hand dismissively, walking back out to the sheep pens to check on your babies. “You can think whatever you want.”

Quinn adores it when you finally warm up enough to her to try and herd her, too. Your constant nudges and physical affection make her feel so warm and content, even though she usually doesn’t go where you want her to. Unless you want to herd her to the couch or bed for some cuddles— you’ll probably win that particular battle of wills more often than not 🥰

as i'm workin on my Ancient stuff- i've got to say that it is really interesting and neat (read: nasty) that there's a good chance most of the Ancient population probably didn't actually wear masks. but We think they did cuz the only really solid evidence of what they looked like at all all comes from places of the higher social circles. and those strived for religious... superiority, i guess. brownie points, not actual dedication to the religion for the sake of its teachings but either because it made them look good, put them higher in the social hierarchy or whatever manipulation have you (or the flawed look upon the religion aka "we gotta get out of this cycle no matter what")

all we are left with are the bastards. the simple people and their cultures that were left to weather the Iterators' rains were simply washed away. nobody cared for their way of life- as long as it served the higher circles well and they stayed submissive (enough so that at the end everyone would take a dip in the void), nobody had to give a singular shit

just how much do we not know about the Ancients' *everything* because of this disregard? how much do we think we are right about, when such is true only for the small but privileged piece of the species?
