Day 82
Hello hello I finished botw and apologies, but zelda is the only thing in my head now. Anyways, i thought it’d be fun to try and design Pearl as a zelda. In a little AU of mine that riffs off of the idea that Grian was once a Link, Pearl was still his sister and also a Zelda. I based her outfit off of her farmer queen dress because i thought it was fitting. I think she looks Zelda enough :D
Also botw link Pearl because why not. Separate pics under the cut because im not letting that sick pose go to waste im very proud that i managed to make it work

I'm on mobile so I don't trust myself to be able to do it without messing up, but I'm absolutely seething because I've got half a dozen ideas & drabbles for Empires 2, and this awful little thing stands between me and creation.

little things to feel softer
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Being kind to mean people
Teas with honey and sleeping early
A fun collection of cute mugs from little antique stores
Pearls and dainty jewellery
Buying flowers for yourself or a loved one, not just on special occasions.
being kind just because you want to, with no hidden motives, just genuine kindness
Reading and writing poetry
Self-care nights and long bubble baths
Going to the farmer's market to buy fresh fruits
No phone in the morning
Paying attention to the little things: changing seasons, moon phases, blooming flowers, etc...
Calm hobbies like painting, knitting, reading, baking
Matcha and tea over coffee
Being kind to stray animals and befriending them
Sending handwritten letters to your friends
Try cooking from scratch, make some jam, maybe attempt a sourdough... (nara smith my queen)
Flower prints and sundresses
Lacy tops and light colours
Taking time to appreciate art, listen to music, visit museums and art exhibitions, go to concerts, the theatre, cinema, etc..
Wearing only natural fabrics
Vanilla scented EVERYTHING
not sure how I feel about the title, but this all leans into the "softer/calmer life" thing; you guys get me lol. <3
As always, please feel free to share your own suggestions and tips in the comments!! ♡
love ya ・:*₊‧౨ৎ

i love pearl pearlescentmoon. shes a humble farmer but she wont stop challenging people to deathmatches. shes pointedly ignoring the fact that shes the goddess of sunflowers. shes a cleaning lady but her side gig is as the queen of a frozen citadel. she committed quadruple homicide including her oldest two allies and then paused, looked at the camera, and said "i dont feel any remorse! :D" she makes her friends soup that poisons them. she and her girlfriends keep killing each other. she even runs a post office.

Empires Headcanon: the reason Pearl's Kingdom has no subjects and Pearl doesn't act like a ruler in any way is because she isn't one.
She's just a farmer the others befriended and they started calling her a queen to have an excuse to invite her out to royalty only gatherings

More of my parent/family musings about the empire characters! Got inspired and finished off my ideas for the season 1 cast!
vvv Links to other musings below vvv [Shrub here | Scott, Sausage, & Seablings here | Joel, Joey, & Katherine here]
Anyways, my art style slipped out of the cartoonish way it had been doing the others in this series so these are more normal sketches than the others.
under the cut I'll drop some quick ideas I have about the parents, like I have on previous posts for those interested :] Enjoy!
First up are LeeryDoe and KeenBronze! I'm sure the Grimland's naming scheme is making a bit of sense seeing the family all next to one another. Both the twins parents are Grimland's engineers, while LeeryDoe specializes more in concept and planning vs KeenBronze expertise in metalworking they make a pretty good team! They're a pretty normal family with their ups and downs. Not perfect by any means but there is care even when they don't necessarily fit together well. I could take about them ages but we see glimpses of them in my fic War on our Shores so I won't blab here lol.
Quick Note on Fwhips name, "Fwhip" is a nickname for FailWhip which google tells me is his old username. I have translated this to mean that the idea of "failing" isn't a bad thing in the Grimland and it has more associations with the idea of learning and perseverance or progress which is why its not a miserable baby name lol.
Pearl and her parents! I had some trouble with them since my Pinterest board for Helianthians is a bit difficult for me. But I managed! Her mum is guardian of Helianthia before Pearl inherits the title. She may be called the farmer queen by other nations, but Guardian is her official title. I don't have too many thoughts about them, they're farmers, they do politics when they need to, they're pretty chill mostly. Baby Pearl was difficult to design tho.
Pix was by far the most difficult child to design just because a big thing about identifying Pix's character in art for me is his age and especially his beard and taking that tire and age away really makes him hard to identify. I managed though lol.
Pix's parent I don't have many thoughts for outside of the idea of them being very haunted. Very tired haunted eyes, between being queen and being the keeper of the vigil I think they're a rather mourning duo and Pix's childhood was kinda emotionally weird because of that.
anyway that's all i got, so long till i figure out my season 2 cast maybe! :] feel free to ask questions about this i love my fanon lore a lot lol

After her passing, Queen Pearl’s armor was buried in the gardens outside of her house. A gravemarker was made from granite, a sun and a goose carved into the stone face along with her name.
But, well, there was a kingdom to rebuild and burnt hones and scorched crops didn’t repair themselves for a queen’s death. The people banded together to figure out some form of government and then set out to fix up their kingdom.
The first harvest after the fires was bountiful.
The Helanthians would give Queen Pearl’s spirit the credit for that. Her soul had returned to the lands and was helping them flourish even after death.
It became custom then, over the years, to ask the spirit of Queen Pearl for advice or assistance or for good crops. Usually, she delivered. Several generations went, and the new Helanthians hadn’t known Queen Pearl outside of the history books, but her deeds were written down dutifully. They knew she was someone who really deserved a little acknowledgment every here and again.
Years passed. It became tradition to leave out small offerings in your fields to thank Queen Pearl for her help. Roasted sunflower seeds, cups of ale, fresh baked bread, turkey legs, whatever you could spare and was good. Eventually this expanded to add small golden trinkets, flowers, things around the house you didn’t mind giving up and were good. People started building small temples in their fields to house these offerings without getting them dirty and attracting all sorts of scavenger birds.
Generations passed. The people and culture spread as it tends to do. New history books are written.
Queen Pearl is very often interpreted as a god or a metaphor rather than a once-living spirit. After all, what sort of human can laugh off a demon’s attacks or find their soul connected with the soils of her kingdom? She’s given other names, mostly translation error. They call her Peril, Mother of Sunflowers, Harvestqueen, War-Maiden, and more.
Stories of her deeds are spread as myths and folklore. They say she challenged a demon twice and won both times. They say nobody could defeat her in battle. They say she was the fires that burnt down Old Helanthia. They say she took a champion who never left her side, a nameless king from an ancient kingdom. They say she gained her power from the moon or from the sun or from both. They say she could wield a scythe as well as a sword.
Her image is, quite frankly, never the same from place to place. There were portraits of her, but they’re ancient and in need of restoration. Some give her a vulture’s wings to symbolize her brutal nature. Some give her a halo of sunlight to show her affinity for farming. They all dress her in green and surround her in sunflowers.
Whatever name or face she is given, she is spread along with the descendants of the people who walked and talked with her. She stays in the hearts of the Helanthians. Whether she is the Harvestqueen bringing prosperity to the farmers, or Peril charging into battle with the bravest of soldiers. They know her and tell her mythos to their children and paint her legends to hang in temples or museums.
And this is how a woman becomes a god.

Shaking esmp!Pearl around she’s the blorbo ever
In life, Pearl is the farmer queen, responsible for much of the server’s food supply. She is quietly powerful in this sense; no one thinks about the farmers in the field but their absence is felt in every rumble of an empty stomach.
She is a warrior, protecting her kingdom with a grin as sharp as her blade. She held her own against a demon with practically limitless power; he had to essentially blind and freeze her to finally kill her. Those who are her allies are grateful for her, those who are not know not to go against her.
Her very lifeblood is intertwined with the fields of wheat and crops she so carefully tended over. When her empire went up in flames, her body, too, burned; the queen and kingdom died alike. Her soul was not lost, and she rose as a saint.
Santa Pearla is a warrior goddess, her name one blacksmiths whisper over their blades and archers ask to land their arrow true. Her spirit can be felt on battlefields and in spars, both in the wild celebration of a win and the courage to get back up, draw your weapon once more, and try again after being knocked down.
She is a goddess of crop, often hailed as the patron goddess of farmers, and by extension all those who work thankless jobs that society would ultimately collapse at the loss of. Sunflowers are often planted at the edges of fields as tribute to Pearl.
She is a goddess of light after death, offering a strong, steady hand to those who need it. She knows when someone has played the game well, and greets soldiers with a warrior’s camaraderie, workers with solidarity, lost children with comfort. She is proud of the fighters and the resolute, admires the preservering glint in a player’s eyes. Strength in many different forms.
Also she’s very silly and a little murderous. And I love her
