What is color? Color is the characteristic of visual perception described through color categories, with names such as red, orange, yellow, green, blue, or purple. This perception of color derives from the stimulation of photoreceptor cells by electromagnetic radiation. -Wikipedia Color, a major part in design, is undoubtedly a psychological notion taken from the vision that is a mix of ration and perception.

In continuation with the previous post, today's post is about the color choice and personality traits.

An already well-established notion, color psychology looks at the moods, qualities and emotions associated with each shade.

Let us now discuss the color theory with respect to fashion design!

PINK Qualities and themes: Playful, youthful, fun, exciting, feminine. Wear: For a party or social event to tap into a more playful and laid-back energy.

What is color psychology is all about?

Color psychology is the psychological influence of colors on the functioning of a person. In simpler words, color psychology can be defined as the study of hues as a determinant of human behavior. There are a lot of things that colors affect. This includes perception, placebo, moods, nature etc.

Let us first discuss the color theory with respect to Interior design.

Art therapy says that colors have mental and emotional effects on sighted people in different facets of life. Some places can irritate you, while others can make you calm and relaxed, it’s all because of the colors. Here’s a brief description of how colors are responsible for affecting a person’s emotions or behavior:

White symbolizes purity and innocence.

Black symbolizes evil or unhappiness.

Green stands for envy.

Pink address the shades of romance and kindness.

Yellow radiates warmth and energy.

Red depicts love and excitement.

Blue is all about calmness and sadness.

Purple is an indication of wealth, mystery and wisdom.

Whereas Orange shows enthusiasm and attention.

Guide to be fashionably festive is here. A guide to drape your dupattas in different ways. It goes by many names- dupatta, chunari, odhni. It has been an integral part of the traditional trio-salwar-kameez-dupatta. Now designers are experimenting with its width, length, shape, structure.

In the recent years, K-pop and K-drama have enthralled the hearts of many admirers across the globe. Hallyu, when translated, literally means “Korean Wave”. It refers to the phenomenal growth in appreciation and recognition of Korean culture encompassing everything from music, movies, drama to online games and Korean cuisine just to name a few.

Conte de Vogue- The story of 'Blue Jeans'

While we've discussed about the 'Evolution of clothing' and 'The 20 Year rule' of fashion, let's dig into the adaptation of a particular garment- the Blue Jeans.

This clothing component merely started off as a functional garb for miners and workers of the sort. It was Levi Strauss and Davis Jacob who were credited for designing the first ever pair of riveted jeans. Their brand became so popular within a period of 17 years and the component was then called the 'denim overalls'. The brand Levi's still continues to be the most preferred label for denim clothing.

Since then, the denim clothing has taken various forms to become what they are today. They've been a symbol of rebellion, an iconic statement of clothing in Hollywood and a now, considered the most preferred casual clothing by consumers due to its durability and versatility, both in terms of form and function.

Today, a pair of blue jeans is the most widely used staple piece of clothing that is owned by individuals of all categories. It is indeed the best example to show how clothing adapts based on its social, political and economic environment. Now, the need for sustainability calls for following practices such as recycling and upcycling in denim industry, also not compromising on its aesthetics.
