installed a new faucet in my parents kitchen today and wanted to use the opportunity to re-caulk (surge rates fucko) the sink which means i had to take apart the drain in order to get it out and well actually turns out we didnt have the right caulk so i ripped the whole thing apart for no reason based on misinformation from my (less handy) stepdad, but then i used THAT opportunity to clean out the drain pipe and oh my god. P-traps exist for a reason. had a shower immediately afterwards. washed my hands about a million times. can still smell the summery sewer 🫶

Took a nap and had the wildest dream where I found an entire animated video of some sort -- probably on VHS, because I'm old, but format doesn't really matter -- fully done out in passable hand-drawn animation (think afterschool cartoons in episodes where the characters are basically on-model), fully voice acted by at least passable actors, all playing out some manner of fantasy story with a princess and magic and such...

And I knew it was my story.

Like, I'd written it. And there was an accompanying partial manuscript of a prose version, which was seemingly written in three hands (signed on the cover as "Jack", "Peter", and something illegible), but one looked like mine and the others looked like me faking different handwriting (which is something I did all the time when I was younger, did anyone else do that?). One of the voices in the video was plainly mine. But also there were multiple male-coded voices that I could not possibly fake even if I'd faked all the others, so I knew it wasn't like I could have done everything myself. And how could I have coordinated all these other people to do it? Every actor delivered every line exactly the way I thought it should sound! That would have required so many takes and I certainly did not remember spending hundreds of hours in the control room of a recording studio!

Because that was the thing. I didn't remember creating any part of this artifact at all. Phrasing that sounded like mine in what looked like my handwriting -- a voice that sounded like mine in the recorded version -- no memory of doing any of that. None. The story mostly felt like something I could see myself writing, other than a few weird details that I felt extremely defensive and awkward about (even though they were super unimportant details). But as far as I could recall, I had never so much as jotted down an outline.

And then I woke up. Kinda wish I remembered more details about the story, because then I could have maybe actually written it, thus manifesting it in real life like some kinda SCP shit XD
