The hen on the right with the red chest is the only fav/Dom cross girl that made it. She is a boss. There are two fav/Dom cross roosters around too!

Mama's doing well and hatching now. She's up to three chicks now, one looks to be a rooster or a cross, not sure yet!

It's chick season!

Another issue is about Faverolles: if to Google one can find many Faverolles in France but WHICH ONE? In lm 2012 it is Faverolles of Aisne (as is written), however it should be Faverolles d'Eure-et-Loir, referring to:

Merry is the black and white one, a barred rock. She is sassy and full of opinions and will peck calves when she’s upsetti. But she lays eggs once a day and will fly up on my shoulder for walks around the yard.

Sam and Frodo are the bearded gals (salmon faverolles) and they sound like clown car honking when they talk. They also lay little pink eggs!

So recently my family got some new chicks; 3 buff orpingtons and 3 salmon faverolles.

One of the faverolle chicks has 4 toes on both feet, one has 5 toes on one foot and 4 on the other, and one has 5 toes on both feet!

sound is the soft peeping of 10 week old faverolles and Dominique pullets and cockerels. seriously, try it on repeat. so soothing.

There's been some rearranging of the roosts since first placement didn't work out. If the little is roosting (which she is) then the others might follow suit. She seems to drive the formation of piles, cause she has protectors that want to keep her warm.

They're big and happy though!

Chickies in the snow! Yesterday we got the first big snowstorm of the year, around 8-12”. For Peach and Plum, it’s the first time they’ve ever seen more than a dusting of snow!
