i know a lot of people say mingyu is so boyfriend coded, but i like pain and i want to challenge that idea by saying; mingyu is so ex-boyfriend coded.

he was the boyfriend you dated when you two were far too young to understand how relationships should be - maybe even first loves.

it was a relationship that ended because love isn't enough – because when you date someone that young, you two were still figuring out who you were and what part you played in the world.

mingyu was the ex boyfriend that you broke up with under the terms of 'mutual understanding', but god does it fucking hurt every now and then. especially the very first time you heard of him moving on.

she's amazing, by the way. the girl that he showed hints of on his instagram posts. and from what you've heard, she's everything he has ever asked for in a partner... maybe even more.

but that's besides the point. it's not like you want him back.

mingyu's the ex boyfriend you would occasionally check up on social media and see how much his features has matured – his cheekbones and jaw are much more prominent. he also gained that muscle mass he had always talked about when you two dated.

it was strange seeing him now, because although he looked familiar – pieces of the boy you once loved still very much evident whenever he posted images or videos of him smiling and laughing, he was nothing but a stranger.

his taste of music has changed, so has his style... the way he posted was no longer carefree.

you would occasionally watch the vlogs he posted, just to hear his voice again. not in a way where you missed him as a boyfriend... but as a friend.

his laugh still sounded the same, the way he got excited for meals was still very much how you remembered – but there was something different and you can't quite put a finger on what it was.

in the moments stillness, when you couldn't help but think back at how life was before you had reached your goals – your mind would wander back to mingyu. in moments when you are unable to get a full grasp of reality, you allow yourself back to the sense of familiarity – the one that once had him present.

seeing your past in the eyes of someone who you only knew behind your screen is a weird sensation but when the days felt long, and the world felt cold, he somehow made that uneasiness you felt at the pit of your stomach feel like home.

you don't dare to reach out, you two have grown past that.

the occasional updates from mutual friends in passing was more than enough.

mingyu was all just a part of your past after all.

To me, Machete kind of has the energy of a secondary villain/coldhearted side character in someone else's story that a lot of fans latch onto, moreso than the protagonist. Question is, would he be the villain in anyone's story?

Why, thank you! I'm actually glad to hear he gives off that vibe. I don't think he set out to become a villain but a lot of people certainly view him as one.

Guild Wars 2 OC stuff: So I finally figured out the full body design for Vallotash (Mordremoth's Scion a.k.a. who Mourynn actually is) They're more or less the same person, but it's complicated, but leans more to Vall believing she's Mourynn and kind of is since she inhabits her body and memories, but is technically an imposter and is very depressed and in denial about it. Inspiration from Jahai Bluffs: "Are you a dragon dreaming that it's a hero? If you were, how would you know?" (also it's my tumblr banner lol) I'm still sketching out the origin story to explain how this happens, but for now here is this sketch bc I am happy with how this turned out and wanted to post it early. It's basically self preservation turned to parasitism to accidental death of host to unintentional identity theft out of guilt/tribute + memory absorption to make her think she's the sapling + amnesia about the whole event taking place over the span of a year stuck in the dream (to super condense her origin lore). I'll finish these sketches once I'm done her origin story pages, or if I get possessed to do it earlier bc I'm still happy with how this turned out and might want to keep working on it sooner, hehe.

She has some simpler looks for when she's flattened down. She looks SO SILLY but I love it. Beware the Scion of Mordremoth: This freaking wiggly silly noodle thing. A terrifying menace!! Beloathed parasite daughter vine of the mighty Jungle Elder Dragon!! /does a snake blep (Also the first two head sketches I did of her from last year when she still didn't have a body designed yet lmao. I still have to figure out how large she actually is, as well as her colouration. She'll have to match Mourynn's, so she's gonna be a funny mix of the colours in the cool spectrum, which doesn't look very plant-like, but sylvari can be all different colours, and she has the whole poisonous/hallucinogenic thing going on, as well as some Soo-won influence bc she's based off a leafy sea dragon and is very attuned to water, so it kinda works yeah????) I also have no idea what her large chin whisker things are supposed to be. I just kind of made them up on the spot and fell in love with them, so they're STAYING, even if they make no sense. I mostly just love that they'd look so cool underwater and while glowing in the dark, and they are vaguely alien and jellyfish-like.

Went to my favorite bog yesterday but oh no! There was actually enough water there to warrant boots (last time I visited it was just a bit muddy). Good news, I brought my boots, bad news, I ripped a hole in my boots while I was on an island. I did get to finally do something on my wishlist: actually touch a blooming western swamp laurel (my beloved).
