Hey, not sure if you’ve answered a similar question. How does one come to terms with the situations they are in and learn to move on to a better and successful life? This also includes feeling behind in life, when compared to friends and family or even dealing with jealousy. Sorry for the long ask.

Learn to respect yourself, your time and your journey. Learn to be gentle with yourself, to understand that you have had a life that’s unique to you. Where you started, what support you have or haven’t had alongside opportunities are vastly different from your those around you.

Learn to work with what you have, create the goal and stick to it, not through hardship but love. Get better for you because you belive you deserve better. Success is whatever you decide is sucess. To me, any woman making it past 25 without a child is sucessfull because at some point we didn’t have choices. Zoom out and look at your life in conjunction to your ancestors. Where you came from, your parents, and what’s available to you now. You can be and do whatever you want - please belive me when I say this. Comparison isn’t only a thief of joy, it’s a robber of relationships. Instead of envy, jealousy or comparison within the negatives, find inspiration. Someone succeeds, think to yourself wow, they did it despite it all, so can I. The pie will never get too small, you will never be too late for anything, you will never miss out because you’re in your own race. So please, take your time to get to know yourself, your why’s, what needs to change in order for you to get there (discipline, dedication, motivation, less distractions, more support, more money, more mental stability — and then go get it)

I had a thought and I won't be able to finish the fic any time soon, but have an intro ficlet :) pre-Berena, bit AU

Bernie takes the card from the ticket agent with a similar and makes her way towards the small theatre hall.

Her daughter's youth group are putting on Shakespeare's Romeo&Juliet with apparently some kind of modern twist. Charlotte had written her about it while Bernie had been abroad, and she had promised to come watch the show if she could be home in time for it, so here she was.

No matter what Marcus might think about it.

Bernie's smile turns a little strained, though she tries to keep looking friendly as she holds out her ticket for the person at the doors.

Bloody Marcus. What does he even care that Bernie is watching the show? It's not like they'd have to sit next to each other or anything. They're adults, for god's sake, even if they can't avoid each other entirely in the small theatre they could have still ignored each other or something!

But no, Marcus had to throw a tantrum that culminated in the point that if Bernie was going, he wouldn't be. Maybe he had hoped Bernie would back down at this point, but she had promised Charlotte she'd be there, and if Marcus didn't want to show up that was on him.

Finding a seat near the middle isle, Bernie settled in to wait for the play to start. She had arrived quite early so there's be no risk of missing the beginning, and the theatre was still quite empty, but as she waited more and more people arrived. A father with a group of smaller children took the row behind her, one of the boys leans forward to play with the fringe on Bernie's chair until the dad notices, chastises him and apologizes, Bernie just smiles. "Don't worry about it." The kid didn't mean anything bad by it after all, and the play hasn't started yet.

A group of adults comes in with no children in sight, possibly the parents of children in the play? One of them sets up a camera in the middle isle, convincing Bernie of that further. She looks at the three women and four men, wonders whether she'd know them, be part of their group, if she had been around for Charlotte's practice sessions. Then she realizes Marcus might know them, and that anything he told them about her couldn't have been good. Maybe that's why he didn't want her to show up - if there have been outright lies in his tales, they're bound to come out sooner or later.

Bernie decides to go talk to them during the intermission if possible when someone settles in the seat in front of her. A woman, about her age, short hair showing a dark grey colour, clear gemstones glinting in her earlobe, and a mischievous smile on her face as she chats with her companion, another woman who Bernie barely notes has longer hair, she's so transfixed by the woman in front of her.

When the bell reminding people to find their seat rings and startles her out of it, Bernie is glad that the woman never turned around to catch her staring.
