JustJenah as Annette Culligan!

Jenah (they/them) loves stories in all forms but most especially audio dramas. When they are not actively falling in love with nearly every short lived queer tv show they can get their hands on, you can find them geeking out over their favorite podcasts, attempting to increase their deadlifts over 200lbs, flailing their hands at every jump scare as they play survival horror games, tempting friends to play Settlers of Catan, and grilling up pizzas in all weather.

Gem Aydın (they/them) is an intersectionality lawyer and a human rights activist. As big nerd with academic hearts, they love to learn, explore, and teach in their unique way. Ever since they listened to their first audio drama, they wanted to express their art in this medium and created 400 Words A Horror with friends to learn to make an audio drama. May i offer some mer au during these trying times?

SO- i've been rambling a whole lot with @thedemonsurfer and @basilbots about an au where Eclipse 3.0 is a fisherman who rescues a mer Ruin after being caught by poachers (more info under the cut!)

So like my runaways au this is set in the main fnaf verse instead of the sams one. Eclipse was a dca model that got decommissioned but reactivated to be sold as a work robot so a lot of his memory is very janky.

He was bought and made to work for a shady fishing company (borderline pirates) where the boat he is on catches a roughed up little mer with a crooked tail and missing fins. Eclipse is made to guard the mer whom he sort of befriends over time and once they reach the shipping warehouse he has a change of heart when he realises this fish is sentient (and shaking hands in trapped and alone)

He sets Ruin free (burning down the company in the process) and finds a new home and life working as a free robot for a smaller but more legit fishing business in an out of the way fishing town. However Ruin turns up at his new home some months later and- they were roommates!

I have a few oneshots drafted and planned for this already! Butters (demonsurfer) already wrote a oneshot for it which you can read here! (Please go read it it gives me so much soul sustenance)

Zora May: Create a Zora OC (or flesh one out in my case >.<)

General Headcanons for the area (this AU maybe)

There are actually several small-ish statues of different things that happened, in both ancient and recent Zora history. These are dotted around the domain, especially important moments such as King Dorephan vs the Guardian, Sidon vs the Octorok, Mipha discovering Vah Ruta, and Selatoh driving back a hoard of Lizalfos.

Mipha’s Court has not only Mipha’s statue, but also a statue of Selatoh, Sidon, and King Dorephan (all holding a Lightscale Trident). King Dorephan is at the lowest point of the court pointing the trident up the stairs while Selatoh and Sidon are positioned just in front of Mipha like an honor guard with their tridents pointed inward. There is a specific spot where one could get a picture of the three siblings with their tridents pointing inward to each other.

Selatoh General Headcanons/Facts:

Sidon was born (hatched? Feesh!) a few moments first, making him the second in line for the throne just after Mipha. Selatoh isn’t particularly jealous over this, but it does make a few things awkward once they grow into adulthood.

As small children, Selatoh was the taller of the two, but once their adult growth spurt hit, Sidon began the taller sibling. Though Selatoh is still a little taller than other female Zora (by maybe a couple inches, not that much taller)

Selatoh is the biter of the two. Sidon still bites things on occasion, but Selatoh bites so much more often. (Even having bitten Sidon a few times when he sneaks up on her, accidental or otherwise)

When it came to climbing waterfalls, Selatoh caught on a good bit before Sidon did. Not because of some unique ability, she just caught on to Mipha’s training quicker than Sidon did.

She has a “fan club” of mostly Male Zora of the domain. All of whom attempt to court Selatoh, but only Ledo and Tottika manage to make any progress (because Selatoh doesn’t like how most of her courters overly compliment her to a point that it sounds ingenuine).

Selatoh doesn’t have potent water magic abilities like Mipha or Sidon. She can manipulate water/purify it if needed, just not on the same scale as Sidon or Mipha.

Her main goal is to retrieve Mipha’s Lightscale Trident. When Link brings it back, she and Dento make a replica for Link (Link willingly gave it back to her and Sidon in a ceremony. Link had to present it to Sidon as the crowned prince, then Sidon presented it to Selatoh because he knew how much it meant to her.)

After the Upheaval rusts all the weapons, Selatoh refuses to use the Lightscale Trident because of how much easier it can break now, switching to Zora Spears in addition to her usual Zora Longswords and Silver Bows.

Selatoh often goes on walks up to the artistic rendition of an ancestral Zora Princess falling for a Hylian when she can’t stand the feeling of missing Mipha.

She knew how Mipha felt about Link but doesn’t know how to express that same feeling toward anyone else

When Zelda came back (end of BotW), Selatoh is a little suspicious of her. Partly due to a lack of memories with Zelda, partly because Link’s story was provable but Zelda’s feels like a bit of a stretch.

With a little tinkering from Purah, Zelda had the Sheikah Slate upgraded to have a rapid shudder function, capturing Selatoh’s Leap of Faith from the closest edge to Shatterback Mountain. Link tracked down Pinkano and suggested to Zelda to have some of the shots painted and gifted to Selatoh as a sign of friendship

^This works to a degree, showing a knowledge of Zora culture and helping Selatoh realize that even if this isn’t the Zelda from 100 years ago, she is at least trying to be a decent royal ambassador.

Selatoh is not above platonic cuddling, but is very picky about who she lets touch her and why. For the longest time its only Link, Sidon, and King Dorephan who can.

She doesn't like playful slapping at all because of her reservations of touching, everything is very deliberate for her.

However she has no problems diving and leaping out of the water in grand displays, to the point she and Sidon have gone entire weeks egging each other on to leap off high cliffs around the Domain.

Finally did some art I wanna share!

It's May, meaning it's MerMay month! Meaning I have a valid excuse (not that I need one but HAHAH!) to draw Leviathan tale a bunch! So of course, I'm gonna be joining in this year! Starting off with stamping off the goldfish one! I really love Dream's design in this AU, he's just too cute and pretty! So I couldn't resist drawing him sunbathing in the shallower waters! Quite happy with how this piece turned out too!

Hope you're all okay with the amount of feesh that's gonna show up this month, because it'll be a lot! >:3

Meet Kligekylk!

He’s an original kaiju I’ll be using in a story idea I’m working on (Placeholder name: Kaijuwatching. It has influences from the early MonsterVerse, The Kaiju Preservation Society, Pacific Rim, Godzilla (2000) and Cloverfield. It’s based off of a concept called kaijuwatching, which functions as being similar to a combo of birdwatching and storm chasing).

As for Kligekylk, he’s the main antagonist kaiju. Since kaiju in this story will be of ambiguous sentience, it’s not sure why he’s rampaging, but it’s heavily implied that he’s sapient and just being a jerk to us little bugs ‘cause he can (not at all inspired by a childhood bully who would step on bugs in front of me because he knew it would upset me /s)

Klige is based off of hagfish, olms, viperfish, frilled sharks, and so on! Earlier concepts included insp from chimaeras and some of Beebe’s unidentified bathysphere fish, especially the “pallid sailfin” and “giant dragonfish”. Kaiju who went into him include Shin Godzilla’s earlier forms, Zilla’98, some of the Pacific Rim kaiju, and the Cloverfield monster. His name (which is a placeholder I may end up keeping) is a combo of the German word for “blade” and the Russian for “tooth”. Allegedly. A friend got that off Google Translate when I was asking around for name ideas.

The bird monster up in the upper right corner that he’s fighting is named Nauhanokka as a placeholder name (yes I know that’s Finnish for ribbon-beak and makes little sense, but it sounds nice for now). She’s the protag kaiju, based off of secretary birds, herons, hoatzins, Rodan, Mothra, and Litra. More on her later if people show interest. She was designed first, and Klige was designed to contrast her.

As for Klige’s abilities, he has hagfish slime (not sure if I wanna make it toxic or not). This makes him incredibly hard to grab or bite down on, and grants him some protection from fire and heat based attacks! He’s a slippery lil guy :D his teeth are also sharp, and he’s a very fast and agile swimmer. Slower on land, though. His biggest drawback is not having any ranged attacks (yet). He also has a standard kaiju’s durability, and seems to be immune to depressurization/the Blobfish Effect, allowing him to function at surface-level waters and even on land, even if he prefers the deep. His weaknesses include bright light (blinds him) and getting dried out if he’s out of the water for too long!

Location: Cafe

Yuuta: Anyways, moving on. Point is, when we all meet up, we’ll eventually be able to see the producer, right?

At that time, I’ll pretend to be “Aoi Byakuya” instead of “Aoi Yuuta”.

Shinobu: So, what’s the reason to do that…?

Yuuta: To make the producer have to guess who I am.

I or rather, Aoi Byakuya, plan to be chummy with him the whole time. I’ll put on a flawless performance of being “Hinata’s older brother, Byakuya”!

Not that a person like that actually exists. If that producer takes a look at me and exclaims “Who is Aoi Byakuya!?” just like you did, Shinobu-kun… He passes.

We can avoid repercussions by saying something like, “Do excuse us! It was just a little prank! That’s just how our characters are, we’re little punks who often misbehave!”

However, if the meeting ends without him sensing anything was up… If he never realizes that there’s no such person as Aoi Byakuya…

If he doesn’t even know that 2wink is “Aoi Hinata and Aoi Yuuta”, and not “Aoi Byakuya and Aoi Hinata”…

Then we’ll know that guy doesn’t actually have interest in us, and that he’s an enemy.

The producer sent us a letter this time claiming he regrets his previous request and wants to apologize.

I wanna see if it’s just lip service, or if he seriously feels bad.

If he feels nothing off with the existence of Aoi Byakuya, he’s guilty as charged.

It’ll mean that he never knew a thing. He’d have never seen anything.

He’s probably just pretending to be sorry to appease our bad mood, with no real thought put into it.

It’d just be to put us in a good mood so he can use us to his heart’s content, since 2wink’s been rather successful lately…

In other words, he’d be looking down on us—making fools out of us.

And if that’s the case, I’ll make him pay for it no matter what.

I’ll ruin both of them—the meeting and the program. Just in a clever way that won’t backfire on us.

I’ll make him suffer the same humiliation I did by any means necessary.

Shinobu: W-why would you…

Yuuta: …I’ve run into his kind countless times, even back when I lived alone alongside Aniki.

Yuuta: Every time we came across someone like that, I swore at the bottom of my heart—

That one day, I’d teach all of them a lesson.

Those who turned a blind eye to a starving child, who pretended they saw nothing…

I refuse to let those deceive us and exploit what little we have to their convenience—not our labor or our money. None of it.

I’ll show them… At the very least, I’ll let them take a bite of the poisoned apple.[1]

To all those people who didn’t see us as humans like themselves… I’ll make them regret it.

To all those who have done so much harm, all while remaining blissfully ignorant.

I will get my revenge. I’ll make them pay. I’ll at least give them the same amount of scars.

…We’ve grown a little, and we’re a bit stronger now.

Hinata: I know, I know~, but I don’t have anyone else to talk to. If Sakuma-senpai hadn’t graduated from Yumenosaki, I would’ve gone to him instead.

Koga: S’cuse me? It ain’t like he’s disappeared or dead. If you wanna see him, why don’tcha go to ES?

What, is it ‘cuz it’s too tricky to sneak in without bein’ seen, ‘cause he’s from a different agency?

Hinata: Do I look like someone who cares about something like that?

How should I put it… Well, I won’t beat around the bush. If you ask Sakuma-senpai for advice, he’ll deal with the problem himself instead of actually advising you.

But when he does that, we end up never figuring out what was up in the first place…

Because of that, we’re never able to improve ourselves or grow, and then we’re doomed to repeat ourselves sooner or later, y’know?

Koga: I get what’cha mean. Nobita-kun doesn’t end up growin’ from his problems when Doraemon takes the lead and goes around solvin’ them for him.[2]

Hinata: Ooh, it’s rare to hear you talking about manga, Oogami-senpai!

Koga: Cuz doin’ anything in BB Band will get’cha Forehead pointlessly recommending manga. Then you guys’ll hop on that bandwagon and then that’s all you guys talk ‘bout.

Hinata: Ohhh. So you felt left out not being able to join our conversation and started reading manga for beginners, huh?

Koga: Shaddup… You got a problem with that, you bastard?

Hinata: Not at allll! ♪ I’m actually pretty happy that you’re tryna approach us like that!

Koga: It’s too late for me to approach him now, though.

No… I didn’t even have to approach him. I should have already been beside Yuuta, but I couldn’t even see his face.

I should’ve been able to understand what had been hurtin’ him and makin’ him angry more than anyone else.

It wasn’t until my hind legs got stuck in the sand did I realize that he was hurtin’.

I hurt him a lot, puttin’ on airs actin’ like some guardian there to protect him.

Even if I did try gettin’ close now, he’s not gonna like it. He’ll just run away.

In Doraemon, each story’s formula basically goes: Nobita runs into a trivial problem → Doraemon presents a super-powered tool that’ll fix Nobita’s problem magically → Because this “fix-all” never allowed Nobita to learn how to navigate the problem, it all backfires and they’re back to square one.

World: Final Fantasy 14

Theme: Hollow Knight - Greenpath

It was finally time to take his boy out into the Black Shroud for his first ever hunt. The sun was starting to set and there was a thick fog rolling through the forest, with news of a storm coming soon; if he wanted to show Nolas how to track beasts without simply following its scent, now was the time to do it. Leo was constantly looking over his shoulder, always overestimating how slow the one year old was with his stubby legs, or more accurately, how much distance he was covering with his long strides. He had to be careful out here– plenty of arial, terrestrial, and amphibious predators wouldn’t think twice about snatching up such an easy meal, and nothing these beasts would do to him could compare to the wrath of his wife. “Are you doing okay, Noly?” He asked, calling out to his son.

“Yeah..!” The boy followed his father like a duckling, occasionally hopping into the footsteps he left behind. Blissfully ignorant of the dangers around him, Nolas kept his eyes on his father’s legs as best as he could– but he could only make it a few paces before stopping to gaze at something else. “Papa look!” He excitedly pointed out into the distance. Leo looked to see a small critter darting across an open field and straight up a tree. “What is thaaaat?”

“A squirrel.” Leo almost forgot there were no squirrels in the Lavender Beds. The boy, satisfied with the answer, maybe took four more steps before pointing excitedly at something else. 

“Wuuhhh! What is thaaaat?” 

“... a ladybug.” Leo decided to walk up and scoop the boy into his arms; it put his mind at ease over the boy’s safety and they were never going to get to their destination at this rate otherwise. Nolas kept squirming in his arms, sometimes looking over his shoulder, sometimes twisting around to look ahead, and occasionally even leaning all the way back to look directly above them. “We’re almost there~” He smiled, noticing his boy’s eyes were filled with wonder. It was nice to see him so happy at everything. Nolas’ joy was contagious and he was more than happy to let his imagination flourish.

Unlike Coroh, these weren’t his woods. His hunting grounds were malms away– out in the searing heat of Thanalan. His wife was born under these trees, as was their son Nolas, as was their daughter Avanta– deep down he still felt like an outsider, but his family did everything they could to make him feel welcomed and included. Just thinking about them made him feel better about himself. He felt a burning gaze drilling into the side of his face. He glanced down to see his son staring at him with his mother’s big purple eyes. “Are you sad?” He asked, reaching up to touch his cheek in the same way he’s seen Leo comfort his mother.

He planted a kiss on Nolas’ forehead and gave him a reassuring smile. “Of course not! Come on, let’s go see if our fish traps worked!”

“Feesh feesh feesh!”

They came down by the side of a stream. Sure it was harmless and perfectly safe for Leo, but Nolas could easily lose his footing and be swept away if he wasn’t careful– and he was anything but careful. Leo lifted him up and placed him on his shoulders, letting the boy grip at his hair for balance. With his hands now free, he was able to check the traps he had set earlier this morning. “No luck, Noly…” He lifted the traps out of the water for the boy to see for himself. “No fish.” None of the traps were even triggered but all of the bait was gone– Black Shroud fish are far more craftier than their Thanalan cousins it seems.

“No feesh!” Nolas started drumming on the top of his head; either he didn’t understand or he didn’t care. “No feesh feesh feesh.” Although he was disappointed his wife wouldn’t be making dinner with his catch this time, he couldn’t help but smile at the carefree drum solo his son was doing on his head. There were a few more traps further down the river they could check but his confidence in caught fish were next to nil. Holding onto one of the boy’s legs as he rose to his feet, he decided to turn back early and head home before Coroh and Avanta woke up. “No feesh?” Nolas asked again, twisting his body to look down at the stream.

“No fish.” Leo repeated, smiling; but his smile vanished once he felt the ground quaking under his boots. Something was coming this way and that something was gigantic! He looked around for some cover and found a thin tree to hide behind. Plucking his boy off his shoulders and interrupting his drum solo, Leo tucked him into his lap as he sat down, hoping whatever it was would pass by them unnoticed.

Leo leaned out and saw the biggest boar in his entire life. The beast lumbered out of the darkness, flesh like armor and tusks so old and yellow that they surpassed his scarred snout. The head alone was as big as a chocobo, with arrows and spears sticking out from his thick hide– some of which could possibly be older than Leo himself. The old bull stopped in the middle of the stream and sniffed at the air inquisitively, before immediately turning to look in Leo and Nolas’ direction!

“Shit!” Leo had the wherewithal and forethought to think it instead of saying it. He clamped his hand over Nolas’ mouth and slowed his own breath, hoping not to give away their position. However Leo was smart enough to know better, but for some reason this gigantic beast didn’t charge them. How easily a boar of that size could run them down! Any sudden movements might have pissed the old bull off, so instead of trying to make a break for it, he remained as still as stone.

Suddenly a dozen more boar came trouncing out from the wilderness, a mother boar and her eleven children. Just like Nolas a few of them seemed blissfully unaware, eagerly lapping up the stream water or running around, eager to play– that is until a short grunt from their mother spooked the joy and splendor from their bleating snouts. The family drank their fill of water and started to depart to the other side of the stream, with the old bull keeping his watchful gaze on the closest thing to a threat to his mate and children; it wasn’t until the coast was clear did the beast slowly look away and follow them.

“Piggie.” Nolas mumbled against his father’s hand. Relief washed over Leo once they were gone, now that his son was no longer in danger. With a pounding heart he rose to his feet, scooping up Nolas and sliding him under an arm. It was time to return to civilization.

Coroh will never hear of this.
