@feijoaaas; wait what actually is manhattan?? isn’t it the whole chunk of land up until where there’s a canal or what it is? i googled now it says like 1,6 million people live in manhattan but i thought it was like 5 million easily?

manhattan is just the main hub of nyc. there are four other boroughs, just as huge: the bronx, brooklyn, queens and staten island, and we all hate each other lol. collectively they all hate manhattan. outside of nyc, the city refers to any one of these boroughs. within nyc, manhattan is considered “the city.”  tho here no one really identifies with their borough but their neighborhood.

this is totally random but not something i ever see brought up in nyc posts, but it should be bc it would explain all those hilarious nyc tweets. nyc’s unofficial sister city is florida! florida men tend to move up here and new yorkers tend to move down there. immigrants from the caribbean (dominican republic and cuba in particular) have a strong historical presence in manhattan and miami so there’s tons of exchange between nyc and florida lol.

oh my fucking god, mika. everything is clear. everything. i can't believe how much i missed. i spent this tuesday just walking around the city and looking at everything, even the floor. at peoples faces. at billboards. it was so difficult walking around at night because it was all a mix match of black of the pavement and the colors of the building lights and streetlights and advertisments. one big blur. i wasn't able to differentiate shadows from physical shapes. it was so hard being out at night. i can't stop looking at everything. at the subway trains, at the tracks. at trash!

i read the first pages of twenty books and almost cried. my friends took me to the movies. it was boring as fuck (nightmare alley) but it was beautiful. everything is lovely. tumblr is lovely and sleek and pretty and i can see everyone's icons and pretty gifs, actually make them out, sit back without squinting. i used to just scroll and scroll, especially long text posts, because it was just impossible to go through without my eyes hurting. it's just nice and yupppp no migraines!
