who tf do ketu men frequently date? 🧍🏼
so i decided to check the charts of ex/current partners of some selected well known ketu men.
See, Timothee Chalamat having dated Rahu and Jupiter girls kinda validates my theory of Ketu men going for these planetary archetypes. I also see Moon and Mercury nakshatra women.
He dated Shatabhisha ASC, Vishakha Moon Lourdes Leon. Was with Eiza Gonzalez who has Shravana Sun & a possible Purva Bhadrapada Moon. His iconic pairing with Lily Rose Depp who's Rohini Sun & Swati Moon and Vishakha ASC. And finally Kylie Jenner -- Ashlesha Sun, Swati Moon.
Avan Jogia, who is Ashwini Moon, is dating Punarvasu Moon Halsey -- and she also has Hasta Sun AND Swati ASC. He's also dated Zoey Deutch who is a Vishakha Sun. He dated Swati Sun Cleopatra Coleman. He had a thing with Vishakha Moon Miley Cyrus 💀
Ben Barnes, who is Ashwini Moon & Magha Sun, dated Ardra Moon Tamsin Egerton. Then Shatabhisha Moon Felicity Jones. And also Vishakha ASC AND Hasta Moon Julianna Hough.
Possible Magha Moon Robert Sheehan with his long-time girlfriend Revati Sun Sofia Boutella.
Idris Elba's -- who's Magha Moon -- current wife is a Punarvasu Sun AND a Jyestha Moon mwahaha.
Ashwini Moon Benedict Cumberbatch's wife is a Purva Bhadrapada Sun AND Rohini Moon.
Ashwini Moon Michael C. Hall's first wife had Revati Moon, name's Amy Spanger. Then he married Jyestha Sun Jennifer Carpenter who ALSO has Punarvasu Moon and a Hasta ASC.
Ashwini Moon Matt Dillion had dated Vishakha Moon Denise Richards. Also Punarvasu native Cameron Diaz. And I believe his recent partner is Vishakha Moon Roberta Mastromichele. He'd dated Ashlesha ASC, Swati Moon and Shravana Sun Heather Graham.
Magha Moon Paul Wesley was married to Hasta Moon Torrey DeVitto. He was also engaged to Punarvasu native Phoebe Tonkin.
Ashwini Sun Machine Gun Kelly (who also dated Punarvasu native Halsey), was with Ashlesha Moon Megan Fox. Daniel Day Lewis' wife is a Revati Moon. Cilian Murphy, who I also believe to be Ketuvian, is married to a Jyestha Moon woman. Christian Bale's -- who's Ashwini Moon -- wife may have Revati Sun (she may also be Ashwini Sun if she was born past noon).
And Ketu men also go for Ketu women. Justin Trudeau's wife is an Ashwini Sun. Machine Gun Kelly dated Ashwini native Amber Rose.
Ashwini Moon Milo Ventimiglia's wife, Jarah Mariano, is a Jyestha Moon. He's dated Ashwini Moon Alexis Bledel and also Hayden Panettiere who's also an Ashwini Moon with Magha Sun.
Ashwini Moon Boris Kodjoe's wife, Nichole Ari Parker, is a Mula Moon with a Hasta Sun.
Magha Sun Andrew Garfield was with Magha ASC, Swati Sun and Hasta Moon Emma Stone. He also dated Mula Sun Shannon Woodward. He'd been with Ashwini Sun and Vishakha Moon Phoebe Dynevor. Also Ardra Sun Alyssa Miller. He got on with Ashlesha Asc & Purva Bhadrapada Moon Rita Ora too.
Mula Sun, and confirmed Ashwini Moon, Jared Leto, had dated Vishakha Moon Scarlett Johansson. Then Ashley Olsen who is literally a Magha Moon with Ashlesha ASC. He'd been with Punarvasu ASC Cameron Diaz. He was also linked with Ardra Sun Lindsey Lohan. Had an iconic love struck moment with Shatabhisha Sun, Hasta Moon Lupita Nyong'o. I think Valery Kauffman too who's Rohini Sun and Shravana Moon. Reminder that he's a Krittika Asc, he's a Sun nakshatra and my god he's got a running list of hookups I can't deal with right now so Valery is where it ends. It's honestly giving Leonardo DiCaprio lmfao who's also a Sun nakshatra (can't stand solar males💀).
If I stumble on more Ketu men, I'll probably keep editing this post. But there's a pattern here. It's Rahu, Moon, Mercury, Jupiter and Ketu nakshatras that frequently pop up in the women they date. Honorable mentions are Sun and Mars nakshatras. Seriously, I find this fascinating.

The Hero We Didn't Know We Needed
By Kenshiro
Tumblr media
Tonight we said goodbye to Oliver Queen. Technically, we’ve done that already in Crisis on Inifite Earths but it’s for real this time. Oliver’s tale has finally come to an end with the final episode of Arrow that aired on the CW. For 8 years we’ve seen the growth of a character from D-list hero in the DC Universe pantheon, to a character that came to be the central figure in the greatest superhero tv universe created.
Were it not for Stephen Amell, it would never have happened.
From Jouneyman to Icon
Amell was a journeyman actor, who had yet to last anywhere outside of some guest appearances. He appeared on hit shows like Hung on HBO and Fox’s New Girl; had recurring roles on The Vampire Diaries and Private Practice. Amell also won a Gemini Award, Canada’s equivalent of an Emmy. His career turning point was being cast as Oliver Queen, and he killed it. Its now near impossible to think of anyone else playing him.
Tumblr media
Amell on the salmon ladder was a staple throughout early seasons of Arrow
Amell was effective because he embraced the role so much. His social media account posted videos of him doing the legendary salmon ladder. It sold fans on his dedication to the role, showcasing his physicality. The guy was legit! Up till 2012, the though of playing a superhero on TV was viewed as a novelty or a joke. Amell changed all of that through his earnest portrayal of the vengeful Oliver Queen in Season one.
Growing a Universe and connecting with fans
A lot of credit goes to Marc Guggenheim, Beth Schwartz and Greg Berlanti. They cast Amell as Oliver and then surrounded him with a cast of unknowns who became gems in the eyes of legions of fans. David Ramsey (Diggle), Katie Cassidy (Laurel), Emily Bett Rickards (Felicity) coalesced around Amell and sparked the birth of the Arrowverse. Something that had never been done on TV before, a fully realized superhero universe rivaled only by it’s Marvel cinematic counterpart.
Stephen endeared himself to the fans at Comic-cons across the nation. He even parlayed his badass role as a arrow-slinging vigilante into a couple appearances on Monday Night Raw. It was this type of whole-hearted acceptance of geek culture that fueled the Arrowverse. His fellow Arrowverse co-stars never followed suit to the same degree, and that only helped set Amell apart.
Tumblr media
The original team that started it all.
He turned himself into the champion of superhero TV shows, even when Marvel started to try and compete. It was Amell’s early performances that kept the Arrowverse going strong. The chemistry he shared with everyone made things flow easy. It continued when The Flash showed up in Season two and Oliver morphed into the go-to guy for everything despite not having powers.
Sure, it stinks that Arrow was essentially a Batman allegory, given WB’s silly policies concerning their heroes. Yet were it not for Stephen Amell, the Arrowverse never works.
Tumblr media
He was truly, the hero we didn’t know we needed. We were lucky to have had him. Thank you so much Stephen Amell.
You NEVER failed your fans. Salute.

Book Recommendations - Badass Women by Badass Women
This month in honour of Internation Women’s Day on the 8th of March I’m recommending books about badass women by badass women.
Solitaire by Alice Oseman - Tori Spring is a down to earth and relatable character who is also incredible. Solitaire is a wonderful novel that I couldn’t put down. Seriously, I was on holiday I read the whole thing in the spa in less than a day. Not only that Solitaire is the debut novel of absloute badass Alice Oseman.
Six Of Crows by Leigh Bardugo - Six Of Crows is an ensemble novel that is gripping and engaging from page one. And it features two of the biggest badasses of YA fantasy Inej and Nina. Both women have had to overcome trauma in there past and have come out the other side stronger, not only that they have a beautiful friendship.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austin - OK so you can’t talk about the badass women of literature without talking about Jane Austen and Lizzie Bennet. I mean turning down Mr Collins ICONIC.
The Lady’s Guide To Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee - The Lady’s Guide To Petticoats and Piracy is about the fearless and badass Felicity Montague and her quest to become a doctor in a time when women were not allowed into Universities. Along the way, Felicity meets friends new and old and makes a place for herself in a male-dominated world. Another amazing feature of the story is that Felicity is asexual and aromantic so the story doesn’t have a romantic plot as the female characters driving motivation.
The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater - Despite its name The Raven Boys has the incredible Blue Sargent as the female lead in this story. Blue is and an interesting character with razor-sharp wit. Backing Blue and the awesome and diverse women of 300 Fox Way, with so many interesting female characters how could you go wrong.
I hope you enjoyed these recommendations and find yourself some badass women to spend your International Women’s Day with. Please add to this list I would love to see what female lead and written books you all enjoyed.

Icarus, The Worldbreaker, and Trickster Powers™
So, unbeknownst to you all until now, I have a small handful of rules on how Icarus’s Trickster abilities work. Unlike many Collective members and Iconics, Icarus doesn’t have any “back up” – no army of followers, no fellow Tricksters that they can turn to in times of trouble, or any spirits or creatures they can summon. They only have Felicity and she’s more an extension of their own power than anything, she is a familiar after all. Outside of his spells that he has as an Arcane Trickster Rogue, Icarus has a small handful of abilities he has access to through his Trickster Powers™: 1. Universe Rifts: Icarus has the power to “rip” holes in the fabric of space/time to connect different universes. The difference in what Icarus can do versus what spells like Planar Shift or Dimension Door do is that Icarus can literally tap into Alternate Universes. Similar to the joke I posted a while ago about Icarus popping into Collective Universe #35 where the Paladin is an asshole, they can find alternate versions of characters or universes/realities where events unfolded differently (imagine them popping into a universe where Wave 1 of the Collective War never happened, or into a universe where Torgrim survived the end of Wave 3, etc.). The trade-off is that there is only ONE Trickster – Icarus… more on that in a sec. 2. Font of Tricksters Past: On their own, Icarus isn’t actually THAT powerful. If they didn’t have Trickster Powers™ they’d be just another wise-cracking, goofy Genasi. Trickster Powers™ are granted by the fact Icarus is the “chosen” Trickster for the Collective. Usually, there is only one Trickster per group of powerful individuals. Icarus is every single Trickster of the past rolled into one convenient package, kinda like the Avatar… but for Chaos and Change, rather than Balance. Icarus can access the power and knowledge of every single Trickster that came before by going into their version of the Avatar State, channeling the power of their predecessors from every reality. Unlike the Avatar, Icarus isn’t any more vulnerable in this state. In fact, they become extremely more dangerous and unstoppable. If Icarus were to die in this state, the Trickster line wouldn’t be broken, the powers would go to a new Trickster who would become unique in all the Collective universes. 3. Shapeshifting: Icarus’s shape-changing abilities stem from their Trickster Powers™. They can remain in a shape as long as they like because of this, as long as they’re willing to maintain the shape. The shape has to be something that Icarus truly identifies with, which is the only limitation. Icarus has only a handful of shapes they’ll transform into: magpie, fennec fox, and dolphin. Icarus also has a female form that they can shift into if they like, which includes the “proper” genitalia and organs to go along. Yes, this does mean our favorite little non-binary Icarus could become a mother. It’s a Trickster thing. 4. Grand Chaos: Being the Avatar of Chaos and Change, Icarus has the potential to cause massive chaos through their Powers™. The main drawback of this power is it can activate at any time, without Icarus fully realizing it. Stuff can have a tendency to just happen around Icarus and then they have to deal with the fall-out. Icarus’s Connection to the Worldbreaker The Worldbreaker is an ancient Trickster from a half-dead pantheon. They were one of the Tricksters before Icarus but their actions and subsequent sealing caused them to be cut off from the Font of Tricksters Past. However, they have not been permanently removed as Icarus can tap into The Worldbreaker to siphon off of their destructive power. The connection technically goes both ways, so when the Worldbreaker manages to get free from the Jar they could use Icarus like a battery or a jumping-off point to regain access to the Font. The two are always vaguely aware of the other, but until the Worldbreaker is freed they don’t have a strong enough connection to fully identify where the other is located. As soon as the Worldbreaker is free, Icarus will know and they also know that if the Worldbreaker is free it’ll be bad news for themself as well as the Collective.

2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards nominations
EW – Though its yearly crop of nominees tends to skew more commercial than the Oscars’ or Golden Globes’, MTV’s annual Hollywood awards show has proven, once again, its finger is pressed firmly on the pulse of pop culture, recognizing a wealth of diversity across both film and television categories among its 2017 class.
For the first time in its 25-year history, the MTV Movie & TV Awards — previously known simply as the MTV Movie Awards — has expanded the scope of its categories to include titles like Netflix’s Stranger Things, NBC’s This Is Us, FX’s Atlanta, and VH1’s RuPaul’s Drag Race — each of which scored major notices among the ceremony’s inaugural set of TV honorees.
While television performers have been integrated into pre-existing categories like Best Villain (where the likes of — spoiler alert — Get Out star Allison Williams goes head-to-head with Demogorgon from Stranger Things), Best Comedic Performance, and Best Kiss, among others, several new brackets make their debut this year, including Show of the Year (Atlanta and Insecure square off against This Is Us, Game of Thrones, Pretty Little Liars, and Stranger Things), Best Host (LGBT icons RuPaul and Ellen DeGeneres vs. Samantha Bee, Trevor Noah, and John Oliver), and an individual television acting set that includes Donald Glover (Atlanta), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), Mandy Moore (This Is Us), and Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things).
Also new for 2017 is the Next Generation award, which will be given to a breakout media star. Nominees include actress Chrissy Metz (This Is Us), actor Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Insecure writer-actress-creator Issa Rae, The Night Of star Riz Ahmed, and Blackish performer Yara Shahidi.
On the film side, Jordan Peele’s feature directorial debut, Get Out, racked up six nominations, including Movie of the Year, Best Actor in a Movie (Kaluuya), Best Villain (Williams), Best Comedic Performance (Lil Rel Howery), Best Duo (Kaluuya and Howery), and Best Fight Against the System. Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast scored several nominations as well, particularly for Movie of the Year, Best Actor in a Movie (Emma Watson), and Best Kiss.
Other films that appear in the Movie of the Year category include Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film, Logan, franchise blockbuster Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and the Hailee Steinfeld-driven teen comedy, The Edge of Seventeen.
The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, hosted by Workaholics nominee Adam DeVine (Best Comedic Performance), airs live from the Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium Sunday, May 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET. Fans can begin voting for winners now at MTV.com.

Warner Bros. has officially announced that a spinoff of Matt Reeve’s upcoming The Batman film is coming to HBO Max. Read on for the full press release.
HBO Max announced today that it has given a series commitment to an original DC drama set in the Gotham City police department from The Batman filmmaker Matt Reeves, Boardwalk Empire creator Terence Winter, The Batman producer Dylan Clark, and Warner Bros. Television.
The groundbreaking television series to be written by Winter is set in the world Reeves is creating for The Batman feature film and will build upon the motion picture’s examination of the anatomy of corruption in Gotham City, ultimately launching a new Batman universe across multiple platforms.
The series provides an unprecedented opportunity to extend the world established in the movie and further explore the myriad of compelling and complex characters of Gotham. This marks the first television project for Reeves under his recently announced overall deal with the Warner Bros. Television Group.
Matt Reeves said, “This is an amazing opportunity, not only to expand the vision of the world I am creating in the film, but to explore it in the kind of depth and detail that only a longform format can afford — and getting to work with the incredibly talented Terence Winter, who has written so insightfully and powerfully about worlds of crime and corruption, is an absolute dream.”
“We are so fortunate to have such great partners in Matt, Dylan, and Terry and unprecedented access to a wealth of IP from our partners at Warner Bros. and DC,” said Sarah Aubrey, head of original content, HBO Max.
“Our collaboration with Warner Bros. and DC allows us to elaborate and grow fan connections across these powerful brands for years to come.  This is Batman as most audiences have never seen before and we know fans will want to spend more time in this new world inspired by the film,” added Kevin Reilly, chief content officer, HBO Max, president TNT, TBS, and TruTV.
Reeves’ 6th & Idaho production company will produce the series in association with Warner Bros. Television. Reeves and Emmy® winner/Oscar® nominee Winter (The Sopranos, The Wolf of Wall Street) will executive produce with Clark (Bird Box, Rise, Dawn, and War for Planet of the Apes). The drama, which is based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane with Bill Finger, will also be executive produced by 6th & Idaho’s Daniel Pipski (From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series) and Adam Kassan (Tales from the Loop); Rafi Crohn (Tales from the Loop) will co-executive produce. Warner Bros. International Television Distribution will distribute the series globally.
Reeves is currently at the helm of Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Batman, which will be released in October 2021. He previously co-wrote and directed War for the Planet of the Apes, directed Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, wrote and directed Let Me In, and directed Cloverfield, among other films. Recent 6th & Idaho television series include Amazon Prime Video’s Tales from the Loop, starring Rebecca Hall and Jonathan Pryce; the upcoming Netflix drama Away, starring Hilary Swank; and FOX’s The Passage. Reeves previously co-created (with J.J. Abrams) and executive produced the hit series Felicity, directing the pilot and several additional episodes.
Winter was nominated for 12 Emmy® Awards and won four during his tenure on the landmark HBO drama series The Sopranos, twice for Outstanding Drama Series and twice for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. He created the HBO drama Boardwalk Empire, which ran for five seasons and earned Winter two additional Outstanding Drama Series Emmy® nominations. He was nominated for an adapted screenplay Academy Award® for writing the Best Picture–nominated film The Wolf of Wall Street, directed by Martin Scorsese, who had previously helmed the Boardwalk Empire pilot. He and Scorsese subsequently co-created (with Mick Jagger and Rich Cohen) the HBO drama Vinyl.
Plot details The Batman are unknown as of this writing, but last September, Kevin Smith said The Batman would adapt The Long Halloween, which has surprisingly not picked up much traction but is too good of a reason, even if it’s only possible at this point, for us to keep a close watch as this project comes into light.
The classic 13-issue comic book story The Long Halloween follows a killer named Holiday who murders people on every holiday for a year, from Halloween to the next Halloween, and it also features many of Batman’s iconic villain characters that are now confirmed to be appearing in the upcoming film. Of course, even if it adapts the story it will likely be a “loose” adaptation at best, and may even ignore the whole holiday aspect of it.
Principal photography of The Batman started on Jan. 28, and is currently halted due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
The film is directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, starring Robert Pattinson as Gotham City’s vigilante detective and billionaire Bruce Wayne, along with Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle; Paul Dano as Edward Nashton; Jeffrey Wright as the GCPD’s James Gordon; John Turturro as Carmine Falcone; Peter Sarsgaard as Gotham D.A. Gil Colson; Jayme Lawson as mayoral candidate Bella Reál; Andy Serkis as Alfred; and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot.
The Batman is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 1, 2021.

New from Kevin Wozniak on Kevflix: What’s Streaming This Month? – May
As we continue to be stuck in quarantine due to COVID-19, our streaming services have become essential to keep us entertained during this time.  Luckily for us, our streaming services have had pretty great content during this time and May only adds to it.  Along with Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Disney+, I include the Criterion Channel on this list as well, as the content Criterion produces is spectacular.  Here are my picks for the best movies coming to Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, Disney+, and Criterion Channel in May.
        NETFLIX
Full list of everything coming to Netflix in April can be found here.
BACK TO THE FUTURE and BACK TO THE FUTURE PART II (Robert Zemeckis, 1985/1989)
The third film was already on Netflix, so it’s only right to put the first two on as well.  Back to the Future is a perfect movie and the best time travel movie ever made.  The sequel is inventive and fun.  Watch all three, it’s an excellent trilogy.
THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON (David Fincher, 2008)
A visually stunning piece of filmmaking from the great David Fincher.
DEN OF THIEVES (Christian Gudegast, 2018)
An interesting, methodical, Heat-like crime thriller that has grown on me after multiple viewings.
  DISTRICT 9 (Neil Blomkamp, 2009)
A wildly original sci-fi movie and the only good movie of Neil Blomkamp’s career.
THE LINCOLN LAWYER (Brad Furman, 2011)
A cool little courtroom drama that kicked off the McConaissance of the early 2010’s.
  THE LOVEBIRDS (Michael Showalter, 2020)
I usually don’t put new Netflix movies on here, but a romantic comedy with Issa Rae and Kumail Nanjiani directed by the director of The Big Sick gives me hope that this could be a great one.
  PUBLIC ENEMIES (Michael Mann, 2009)
Johnny Depp gives one of the best performances of his career in Michael Mann’s engrossing, stunningly made biopic about gangster John Dillinger.
UNCUT GEMS (Josh and Benny Safdie, 2019)
One of the best movies of 2019, Uncut Gems features a career-best performance by Adam Sandler in the Safdie Brother’s anxiety-enducing crime thriller.
  UNITED 93 (Paul Greengrass, 2006)
A tough watch, but Paul Greengrass rightly earned a Best Director Oscar nomination of this harrowing true story of passengers who foiled a terrorist plot on 9/11.
WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY/CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY (Mel Stuart, 1971/Tim Burton, 2005)
Two films from the same source material that couldn’t be more different.  Could be a cool little double feature.
    AMAZON PRIME
Full list of everything coming to Amazon Prime in April can be found here.
COME TO DADDY (Ant Timpson, 2020)
A horror flick starring Elijah Wood.  That’s all I got and that’s all I need.
  THE GOLDFINCH (John Crowley, 2019)
2019’s biggest Oscar-bait failure is a film I didn’t see in theaters, but one I want to check out and see why this movie failed as hard as it did.
  LIKE CRAZY (Drake Dormeus, 2011)
The 2011 Sundance U.S. Dramatic winner is one of the most authentic love stories I’ve ever seen on film and features stellar performances from Anton Yelchin and Felicity Jones.
  ROCKETMAN (Dexter Fletcher, 2019)
Taron Egerton is masterful in this unique biopic of music icon Elton John.
  SEBERG (Benedict Andrews, 2020)
Kristen Stewart, one of my favorite actresses working today, stars as French New Wave icon Jean Seberg, who was being watched by Herbert Hoover and the F.B.I. for her political and romantic involvement with civil rights activist Hakim Jamal.
THE VAST OF NIGHT (Andrew Patterson, 2020)
I’ve heard nothing but great things about this movie for over a year and I am excited to finally watch this mystery thriller.
    HULU
Full list of everything coming to Hulu in April can be found here.
BATMAN BEGINS and THE DARK KNIGHT (Christopher Nolan, 2005/2008)
Kind of annoying that they didn’t make the entire trilogy available, but whatever.  Batman Begins reinvented Batman on the silver screen and The Dark Knight is my favorite comic book movie ever and one of my all-time favorite movies.
  THE CONJURING (James Wan, 2013)
One of the best horror movies of the last ten years.
  GOODFELLAS (Martin Scorsese, 1990)
Goodfellas is my favorite movie ever made.  I love this movie so much.  It’s perfect.
  THE GRADUATE (Mike Nichols, 1967)
Another perfect movie, The Graduate is an undeniable classic with themes that still resonate today.
THE LODGE (Severin Fiala, Veronika Franz, 2020)
Even though I’ve heard mixed things about this one, I’ve wanted to see The Lodge since the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and I’m excited to get the chance to check it out.
PAINTER AND THE THIEF (Benjamin Ree, 2020)
This documentary, about a painter who befriends a thief who stole her paintings, was one that I missed at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, but one I really want to check out.
  PREMATURE (Rashaad Ernesto Green, 2020)
Rashaad Ernesto Green is a director I’ve been excited for since seeing his debut film Gun Hill Road in 2011, so getting to check out his latest film should be a treat.
  SPACESHIP EARTH (Matt Wolf, 2020)
I saw Spaceship Earth at this years Sundance Film Festival and it was a very interesting documentary about the group of people who built the Biosphere 2, a giant replica of the earth’s ecosystem, in 1991.
  DISNEY+
Full list of everything coming to Disney+ in May can be found here.
FANTASTIC MR. FOX (Wes Anderson, 2009)
A stunning, hilarious, masterful stop-motion film from the great Wes Anderson.
  JOHN CARTER (Andrew Stanton, 2012)
A film that isn’t nearly as bad as its legacy precedes it, I’m excited to watch this one again for its sheer scale and insanity.
MALEFICENT: MISTRESS OF EVIL (Joachim Rønning, 2019)
A decent movie that might be better than the first one.  Angelina Jolie is pitch-perfect casting as Maleficent.
THE PRINCESS BRIDE (Rob Reiner, 1987)
Could be argued as the most watchable movie ever made.  A film full of action, adventure, comedy, romance, and drama and every piece is great.
STAR WARS: EPISODE IX – THE RISE OF SKYWALKER (JJ Abrams, 2019)
I was not a fan of this movie (full review here), but it’s a Star Wars movie and it’s available to stream (along with the rest of the saga).
  CRITERION CHANNEL
Full list of everything coming to Criterion Channel in May can be found here.
*The Criterion Channel does things a little differently than every other streaming service.  The Criterion Channel, a wonderful streaming service that focuses on independent, foreign, and under-appreciates movies, doesn’t just throw a bunch of random movies to stream.  They get more creative, by having categories like “DOUBLE FEATURES” or “FILMS FROM…”, giving us curated lists of films that somehow blend together or feature a specific artist.*
  DOUBLE FEATURES
CALIFORNIA DREAMIN’:
The Limey (Steven Soderbergh, 1999)
Mulholland Drive (David Lynch, 2001)
A Soderbergh-Lynch double feature is always going to be great, but this one is going to be especially great because these two movies are some of the best work from these directing legends.
  KNOCK OUT!:
The Harder They Fall (Mark Robson, 1956)
Raging Bull (Martin Scorsese, 1980)
Two movies that feature drama in and outside of the boxing ring.  The Harder They Fall features Humphrey Bogart as an ex-sportswriter who is hired by a shady fight promoter to promote an unknown but easily exploitable boxer from Argentina.  Raging Bull is a cinematic masterpiece and features Robert De Niro in, what this critic considers to be, the greatest acting performance ever on film.
JOSH AND BENNY SAFDIE’S ADVENTURES IN MOVIEGOING
Josh and Benny Safdie are the most exciting directing duo since the Coen Brothers, so having a curated list from them is something that needs to be taken seriously.
The Naked City (Jules Dassin, 1948)
In a Lonely Place (Nicholas Ray, 1950)
Camera Buff (Krzysztof Kieślowski, 1979)
Gloria (John Cassavetes, 1980)
Bless Their Little Hearts (Billy Woodberry, 1984)
Meantime (Mike Leigh, 1984)
Close-up (Abbas Kiarostami, 1990)
Hero (Stephen Frears, 1992)
The Mirror (Jafar Panahi, 1997)
SAUL BASS TURNS 100!
Saul Bass is responsible for some of the most iconic opening credits in cinematic history (ex: Psycho, Vertigo).  This impressive list of great films features some of Bass’ finest work.
The Big Knife (Robert Aldrich, 1955)
The Man with the Golden Arm (Otto Preminger, 1955)
Around the World in 80 Days (Michael Anderson, 1956)
Storm Center (Daniel Taradash, 1956)
Bonjour Tristesse (Otto Preminger, 1958)
The Big Country (William Wyler, 1958)
Cowboy (Delmer Daves, 1958)
Anatomy of a Murder (Otto Preminger, 1959)
The Facts of Life (Melvin Frank, 1960)
Ocean’s 11 (Lewis Milestone, 1960)
Something Wild (Jack Garfein, 1961)
West Side Story (Robert Wise and Jerome Robbins, 1961)
Walk on the Wild Side (Edward Dmytryk, 1962)
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (Stanley Kramer, 1963)
Bunny Lake Is Missing (Otto Preminger, 1965)
Grand Prix (John Frankenheimer, 1966)
Seconds (John Frankenheimer, 1966)
Phase IV (Saul Bass, 1974)
The Human Factor (Otto Preminger, 1979)
The Age of Innocence (Martin Scorsese, 1993)
STARRING JACKIE CHAN
Jackie Chan is a martial arts legend and one of the greatest action stars to ever grace the silver screen.  These films show Chan’s early work as an actor, as well as show off his chops as a director.  This should be an absolute blast.
Half a Loaf of Kung Fu (Chen Chi-hwa, 1978)
Spiritual Kung Fu (Lo Wei, 1978)
The Fearless Hyena (Jackie Chan, 1979)
The Young Master (Jackie Chan, 1980)
Fearless Hyena 2, (Chan Chuen, 1983)

Ruth Bader Ginsburg says she’s ‘almost repaired’ after last month’s fall
https://embed-prod.vemba.io/vemba-embed.js
More than a month after falling and fracturing three ribs, Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg declared Saturday night in New York that she is “almost repaired.”
The 85-year-old justice told an audience that “immediately” after the fall she returned to her physical trainer, but they did “legs only.”
“Yesterday,” she said however, “we did the whole routine.”
News of the fall caused her legion of fans, and liberals across the country, to hold their collective breaths, fearful for the health of the so called “Notorious RBG” who has reached celebrity status, as well as the future of the court. They feared a worsening of her health could give President Donald Trump the opportunity to replace a liberal justice with a conservative.
Instead, Ginsburg never missed a day of arguments and nine days later she was at the White House for a ceremony to honor her late friend Justice Antonin Scalia. She was even hugged by her longtime friend Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch.
The President acknowledged her presence that day by saying, “Glad to see you are feeling great.” Later she attended the funeral of President George H.W. Bush.
Ginsburg survived bouts with colon cancer in 1999 and pancreatic cancer in 2009 as well as a coronary catheterization procedure in 2014. On the bench, she shows no signs of slowing down, often opening argument sessions with the first question. She also released the first opinion this term.
She does look frail at times and moves slowly, the last to leave the bench, but the frailty dissipates when she asks questions or crafts her dissents.
Saturday, Ginsburg was appearing at an event hosted by the Museum of the City of New York and was interviewed by NPR’s Nina Totenberg.
Totenberg asked whether — after living in Washington for so many years — she still considered herself a New Yorker.
“Not only a New Yorker, but a Brooklynite,” she said.
In recent years she’s emerged as a pop icon, traveling often and carrying a bag emblazoned with the words “I dissent,” reflecting her status as the leader of the court’s four-member liberal minority.
She’s been the subject of a documentary produced by CNN, and is now featured in a Hollywood movie called “On the Basis of Sex,” based on her early career as a lawyer fighting gender discrimination. Actress Felicity Jones plays Ginsburg. Her late husband, Marty Ginsburg, is played by Armie Hammer.
When Totenberg asked her about an apparently steamy sex scene in the movie, she responded, “Marty would have loved it.”
