#my art#jjk#jujutsu kaisen#fushiguro megumi#jjk fanart#megumi fushiguro#i LOVE trying to 1:1 art styles it's such a fun challenge#and it appeals to me bc i love deception and lying for sport and trying 2 mold all aspects of myself in2 something else#trying to draw like gege felt like trying 2 forge someone's signature and trying 2 draw like the anime felt like going against all instinct#theres NO midtones in the anime shading i was like. is this it. surely this cant b All the shadows i am allowed#cell shading without blended areas feels so wrong 2 me#and the shape of his hair.....he looks so silly......why does he look like that.....#i was fighting the urge to 'fix' it w every bone in my body#rly opened my eyes to just how many favours i do him in my art style#i will happily bear the burden of being megumi's hairbrush good god he needs it#it's not so egregious in gege's style bc it's all so blocky and angular everywhere + the b/w balances out w negative space#w trying 2 replicate gege's style i think my main challenge was finding a good brush dupe to mimic his crosshatching#my current render style is all over the place tbh im not even sure i'm super happy with my own which is kinda embarrassing#i think im in an in between phase that's neither smooth nor rough so i try to lean in2 the messiness to make it look intentional#instead of confused#but overall i think i did rly well in that i like these all ok and i had fun smile :)#maybe ill do th other first years

#agh I’m so so nervous but I’m big and strong and you all agree with me <3#plus it’s nearly 6 in the morning and I pulled an all nighter to finish this. which I’m sure is not helping my stress levels At All!#ALSO!#I’m gonna do another one!#you will NEVER know which picture so get fuckin ready HELLLLLLLLL yeah!!!#<- as for those of you who were Present when I said which picture I was gonna do. ummmmm. shut up! say nothing!!#ALSO…..2!!#wanted to share how I did the scuff marks cuz I felt like it. and also I said I was gonna do it. anyway!#what you wanna do is get a real textured brush. ideally something pencil adjacent#and a mid grey color#and with LIGHT pressure you follow the edges of whatever metal bit you’re rendering#you can go a little heavier on the corners if you desire#from the corners you take a smudge tool and gently blend in the opposite direction of the corner if that makes sense#and then take an eraser (IDEALLY one that’s the same as your rendering brush)#and gently erase back towards the corner. but with a much smaller brush size#add little scratches and pick marks as you please#and that’s it#you know maybe this would make more sense with an actual diagram I’m so so bad at explaining stuff agh#I’m gonna shut the hell up now 🙏#trigun#nicholas d. wolfwood#trigun stampede#trigun fanart

Wild how we know that Elizabeth Woodville was officially appointed to royal councils in her own right during her husband’s reign and fortified the Tower of London in preparation of a siege while 8-months pregnant and had forces gathering at Westminster “in the queen’s name” in 1483 – only for NONE of these things to be even included, let alone explored, in the vast majority of scholarship and historical novels involving her.

But it's 100% true so I had to post it.#elizabeth woodville#my post#Imo this is mainly because Elizabeth's negative historiography has always involved both vilification and diminishment in equal measure.#and because her brand of vilification (femme fatale; intriguer) suggests more indirect/“feminine” than legitimate/forceful types of power#It's still bizarre though-you'd think these would be some of the most famous & defining aspects of Elizabeth's life. But apparently not#I guess she only matters when it comes to marrying Edward and Promoting Her Family and scheming against Richard#There is very lacking interest in her beyond those things even in her traditionally negative depictions#And most of her “reassessments” tend to do diminish her so badly she's rendered utterly irrelevant and almost pathetic by the end of it#Even when some of these things *are* mentioned they're never truly emphasized as they should be.#See: her formal appointment in royal councils. It was highly unconventional + entirely unprecedented for queens in the 14th & 15th century#You'd think this would be incredibly important and highlighted when analyzing late medieval queenship in England but apparently not#Historians are more willing to straight-up INVENT positions & roles for so many other late medieval queens/king's mothers that didn't exist#(not getting into this right now it's too long...)#But somehow acknowledging and discussing Elizabeth's ACTUAL formally appointed role is too much for them I guess#She's either subsumed into the general vilification of her family (never mind that they were known as 'the queen's kin' to actual#contemporaries; they were defined by HER not the other way around) or she's rendered utterly insignificant by historians. Often both.#But at the end of the day her individual role and identity often overlooked or downplayed in both scenarios#and ofc I've said this before but - there has literally never been a proper reassessment of Elizabeth's role in 1483-85 TILL DATE#despite the fact that it's such a sensational and well-known time period in medieval England#This isn't even a Wars of the Roses thing. Both Margaret of Anjou and Margaret Beaufort have had multiple different reassessments#of their roles and positions during their respective crises/upheavals by now;#There is simply a distinct lack of interest in reassessing Elizabeth in a similar way and I think this needs to be acknowledged.#Speaking of which - there's also a persistent habit of analyzing her through the context of Margaret of Anjou or Elizabeth of York#(either as a parallel or a foil) rather than as a historical figure in HER OWN RIGHT#that's also too long to get into I just wanted to point it out because I hate it and I think it's utterly senseless#I've so much to say about how all of this affects her portrayal in historical fiction as well but that's going into a whole other tangent#ofc there are other things but these in particular *really* frustrate me#just felt like ranting a bit in the tags because these are all things that I want to individually discuss someday with proper posts...

every so often my brain feels the need to offer up a random vocabulary term it remembers. sometimes I wake up and just have a word in my head for some reason, sometimes it's in the middle of the day unprompted. like in chem class today my thoughts just went "lambertian diffuse." and I was like "fucking. okay. thanks, acerola-focused portion of my brain"
#that is the most ive ever truly felt how my thoughts arent totally under my control#like yeah yeah impulsive and intrusive thoughts i dont choose to have are there. but like. no part of me was at all focused on shaders#i dont think ive watched acerola at all recently#like there is no way i would consciously decide to have that thought. but some segment of my brain did#i dont even know what a lambertian diffuse is!! it's definitely involved in rendering. id prolly guess it's related to ray tracing#or something of that nature? proximity to light sources? based mostly off of “diffuse”#my brain just has a word bank it likes to read from when it's bored#existenceunrelateds
