“Yeah, me too,” she sighs, imagining herself lying in her bed, surrounded by all the lovely cats she had met today. “But, this was the best date ever, Fez. Thank you so much.”

He bows his head to the site, eyeing her carefully. “Yeah? Was nervous, you know…”

“Nervous?” The smell of the joint he had just finished a minute ago is still hanging in the air, making Lexi a little dizzy. But maybe it’s also the way he watches her now, the slight tremble in his voice.

"Ashtray O'Neill, if I have to drag you back here myself don't believe I won't for a second." He's stopped in the doorway, deciding whether to turn around and face her wrath or run, and risk her disappointment later. The late summer sun is bleeding through the window and spilling across the kitchen table that she's stood by. It catches her hair too, setting it ablaze in streams of red and gold and as much as it looks like a halo, she sure as hell ain't acting like no angel.

"You better listen to her bruh, she's mad scary for real." Fez sits on the worktop blinking slowly between them, trying not to laugh. "Ain't that right ma?" In his warmth she softens, it's the first and only time Lexi's resolve dwindles that day.

"I ain't coming back nowhere if you gonna get all fucking disgusting like that." He felt suddenly like they were trying to parent him— a foreign concept. Even at seventeen she was a force to be reckoned with, a beacon of overbearing, obsessively outgoing optimism, and someone he regretfully found himself turning soft for, try as he might to wall her out, which was the first and only time he needed to learn that there were more ways than one to love Lexi Howard.

"It's not disgusting. What's disgusting is your spelling. Now sit." She doesn't ever raise her voice, it just sharpens into something surprisingly threatening. Fez watches with an open mouth.

For the first time in his life, Ashtray listens.

After she's explained how to do one, been through two with him and offered up a pencil he's more than well versed in the fundamental principles and purpose of the crossword, just struggling to put it into practice. Lexi sits patiently beside him, embodying encouragement, pointing out mistakes he's made and quietly showing him how to fix them, grinning like an idiot when he does it himself even when she's anything but.

He doesn't say anything this time when Fez comes up behind her and tucks his head into the crook of her shoulder, hiding a smile. They deserve this much, to share afternoons together while they can. It's so rare they indulge themselves in this little domestic dream she's constructed— it feels a lot like playing house when she stays for the odd weekend, blissful and naive and ultimately... all pretend. But such a comfort they act like it won't eventually be quashed by the fetters of reality come Monday morning when she leaves for school. So who's to tell them they can't have that? Their little corner of the universe to share, however briefly? Not Ashtray.

Even so, she pretends not to notice for his sake, beaming with pride that's contagious as he fills in the final letter.

Correctly.

It's nothing really, but she makes him feel like it matters.

Which is why he does it again the next day, a little faster this time. And again after that the next morning. He finds himself spelling when she's at school, he finds himself spelling when she's gone. It's the only semblance of routine he maintains and a reminder. Of what he isn't quite sure, only that it feels like warmth and that summer sunlight falling on his face again— everything about it is simply, undoubtedly Lexi and serves as a comfort in her absence, a certain kind of motivation to be better.

He thinks that might be what a lesson is.

Everyone was in a hurry and rustling around the house (Fez’s house). They were all preparing for Noah's 1st birthday. They were all excited but no one could beat the love and excitement of Noah’s mother, Y/n.

Y/n wanted to make sure everything was perfect. She had all of her friends helping. While everyone else was decorating she was baking the cake. She wanted Noah to have the best time of his, even though he’s probably not going to remember shit.

Y/n finally placed the cake in the oven. The guests were slowly trailing in the house. 

She was still waiting for her special someones, Fez and Lexi. The two have been with Y/n through everything. Even before they were dating. They were both there when she got her heart broke a stupid little bitch. They were there for through her long ass pregnancy.

She was really excited for them to see what she had done for Noah. She wanted to see them in general. She doesn’t see them as often as she’d like to. With Lexi in school, Fez doing his usual business. and her taking care of Noah.

They both love Noah like he was their own. 

Lexi was at home studying for her finals and Fez was doing a drug. The party slipped their mind. Y/n texted and called, neither of them answering. 

She started think that,

“They’re probably running late.”

or

“Something must of came up.”

She started making up multiple excuses for them, hoping they would show up. A few hours later they still hadn’t shown up.

To say she was upset was an understatement. She wasn’t even that upset until Noah started crying and asking where they were. 

Noah had grown an attachment to the two. He loved them soo much. Them not being there hurt his tiny heart.

After the party ended Y/n made a tiny fort on Fez’s couch so that Noah could take a nap. She started to clean up with the help of Maddy. 

Maddy consoled her. She tried to lighten the mode but nothing helped. After they were finished Y/n grabbed Noah and put him in his car seat and drove to her house. 

She started crying at the fact they didn’t do that one big little thing she asked of them.

Fez walked into his house, tired from the long day he had. Lexi trailing in behind him. They were both dying to see their girlfriend and their little nugget. 

They were both confused to see the house empty. Lexi checked her phone to see thousands of texts from Y/n. 

Are you on your way?

Where the fuck are you?

Noah wanted you to be here. WHERE ARE YOU?

They both looked at each other with an oh shit face. They rushed out of the house to Fez’s car and quickly drove to Y/n’s house.

When they got there they knocked on the door like fucking maniacs.

The door finally opened after waking up Noah from his nap due to the pounding on the door. Fexi saw their girlfriend the baby boy they both love oh so much in her arms. They smiled at the sight which quickly turned into a frown.

They saw the state of their girlfriend. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying. The two felt guilt in their hearts. They both looked at each other and knew what they both had to do.

They had to make it up to not only Y/n but Noah too.

Lexi was the first one to step up to her being that Fez didn't know what the fuck to say.

"I'm so sorry baby, I didn't mean to get so caught up with the play and then me and Fez met up to come to the house to come see you. I know that's not an excuse but we will make up to you and Noah I promise."

Y/n wasn't mad at them she was merely disappointed. They had both promised to be there. They promised Noah they would be there. When they didn't show up it broke her heart to see her pride and joy so incredibly sad.

Noah turned to look at Lexi and smiled.

He babbled, "I fogive you."

The three cooed at the boy. Lexi took the boy out of his mother's arms.

"Thank you, nugget. Do you forgive us mommy?" now pointing the question towards Y/n.

She smiled and nodded.

Fezco stepped up and hugged Y/n.

He didn't really know how to express how sorry he was for his actions. He did the best he could by whispering sweet-nothings into Y/n's ear like...

I'm so sorry, ma.

I love you so much.

You guys mean the world to me

Even though everything was forgiven, Y/n, decided to fuck with them.

"That's not an excuse though you should have been there."

Fexi stared at the girl with wide eyes. The girl couldn't hold her composure and bursted out laughing.

They both let out a breath of relief. "Relax! I'm just fuckin with you. But you still have to do a lot of making up to do."

And that's what they did.

They placed kisses on their lovers forehead and then covered Noah in multiple kisses on his face.

The little nugget couldn't be happier than ever.

Lexi and Fez spent the whole day making it up to the two. It really brought them together for them better.

At least there no one will know she’s a complete loser who got ditched at the town carnival by her best friend, unlike Instagram or Twitter. A single AirPod rests in her ears as she scrolls aimlessly through fandom posts, liking some fic links from mutual's and reblogging others with enthusiastic tags about reading as soon as she gets a chance. She catches the wild flame out of the corner of her eye, but thinks nothing of it as she taps away at her phone until a large cloud of smoke engulfs her, dragging her back to reality just in time to hear the question suddenly aimed at her.

Keep in mind I didn’t even like list every fic I could think of cause I realized halfway through thinking of them that I’d be naming the whole fexi county 😭 but THESE are great reads and by really phenomenal never the same was transformed and rebirthed writers. I’d also really urge to go through their accounts too. They’re excruciatingly talented with a WIDE WIDE range of type of fics (And If you need a longer list, I am more than happy to write you one with more users. I wish I could include them all).

If you prefer one shots (I did list multi chaps but they’re great!), I found a video to help you do that on your own :) utilizing the tags for angst, fluff, etc will also help narrow down the search.

2023 FFRC - August ⚔️🛡️

Hello friends! Autumn is my favourite time of year because the weather is lovely and there is no snow yet - unfortunately it doesn't last long here but I'm going to enjoy it while I can. I hope you're able to find things that make you happy!

I've had quite a few new followers, so I'll explain what this is. I participate in the @fanfic-reading-challenge every year and once a month, I share my reading progress and give a few fic recs that I particularly enjoyed this month. The challenge has various completion levels - and if you're looking for something to help motivate you to read new things or expand your range - or even if you just want to challenge yourself, you should come take a look. You don't have to wait until the new year to start - and there are a bunch of us on the Discord server (none of whom read any of the pairings/fandoms that I read btw😂) and it's a really nice and encouraging place to be.

I read lots of really great stories this month - lots of Fexi at the beginning of the month and then I slid into reading a bunch of GoT fic because we're rewatching the whole series with our daughter (she's a big Tyrion fan). I finally cracked 15 million words read and with a few months to go I'm hoping my year-long goal of 20 million won't be out of the realm of possibility - so go me!

I mean, he is pretty damn sexy when he's not glaring at her. Whatever. She's only in it for the taser batons. Notes: Who doesn't love a Road Trip fic? It felt summery. And it's funny - Steve and Natasha also feature and they are adorable.
