Fancy Job Macros!

Because I like to share the random stuff I learn, here's a quick macro tutorial that sets your job stone or gear set icon as the macro icon, changes jobs via gear set, applies a title, AND swaps HUD layout (remember to remove the brackets; notes are indented and italicized):

/macroicon "Soul of the [name of job]" item

OR

/macroicon [x] gearset

If you prefer using the job stone over the gear set icon, you can't use an item you don't have, so this first option won't work for jobs that are still classes (for example, archer instead of bard); you can substitute the second option instead.

/[emote] motion <wait.[x]>

Optional line for an emote. The number that replaces [x] depends on how long the emote is/how much of it you want to play from the beginning before the macro moves on to the next action and, at minimum, equals 1. If you want the emote to show in chat, delete the "motion" part.

/gearset change [# of job gear set] <wait.1>

/title set "[title]" <wait.1>

/hudlayout [# of HUD layout] <wait.1>

The short pauses here are to avoid overlapping actions and accidentally skipping them, and to give a time cushion for changing from a job that does NOT use MP to one that does, so that additional lines for summoning pets have enough MP replenished from passive regen to cast. These pauses can be longer to try to account for server lag (meaning you might have to pad this number if you routinely have high ping). Also, I personally use a different HUD layout for each role plus crafting/gathering, so this makes it easy to swap without using keybinds I might mess up.

Here's an additional line for summoning a pet (add <wait.3> at the end if adding more lines afterwards):

/ac "Summon [default pet name]"

The game will tell you that Summon Selene/Ifrit-egi/etc. is not a valid action name, even if you've changed your pet appearance to look like one of the alternate skins, so you have to use the default Carbuncle or Eos in the command line. :(

And here's an additional line for applying enmity (add <wait.1> at the end if adding more lines afterwards):

/ac "[enmity skill name]"

You can also throw in lines for summoning a specific minion and/or mount (add <wait.2> at the end of each line if adding more lines afterwards):

/minion "[minion name]"

/mount "[mount name]"

So a finished macro for, say, SCH can look like:

/macroicon "Soul of the Scholar" item

/snap motion <wait.1>

/gearset change 6

/title set "The Fae-touched" <wait.1>

/hudlayout 2 <wait.1>

/ac "Summon Eos" <wait.3>

/minion "Wind-up Pixie" <wait.2>

/mount "Portly Porxie"

A pastebin of macros.

This is a pastebin I am working on adding to. It will have everything from silly macro, to battle/raise macros to crafting and whatever else I can find. I will update a lot after 7.0 (and any other future xpacs) are released as some will break at the start of every xpac. As with all macros, use the /echo command to make it only show up for you. Put /p for party chat, /yell for yell (the yellow one) chat, /a for alliance and /shout for shout chat. Please note for /say chat, that some macros will be to long. Also please note that if you do not put any of those commands on the chat macro, it will show up in what ever chat you have it set to. If you have any macros you would like me to add, please send them to me and I will put them on the list.

i think there is truly something to be said about the amount of games out there that are, essentially, about grief and moving on at their core. and i do mean *video games,* specifically, because video games are immersive and interactive on a level other forms of entertainment art and media simply are not.

and i think part of it is...it really feels like working through your own grief when you're playing these games. they're games about letting go. about how you cannot stay in the past, in the memories that comforted you. about how you...cannot stay a ghost, or love a ghost forever. you have to let the ghost go. you have to lay it to rest.

whether you agree with this within the world of the fiction, or you find comfort in fanfiction where Everyone Lives!, i...think that's part of the point?

games are about immersing yourself in fantasy. and isn't it the ultimate fantasy of all, as someone who intimately knows grief, to think of the you that doesn't exist, who can find it within themselves to part with pain and grief? wouldn't it be nice, to take that step and move on?

THE WoL WENT THROUGH A REJOINING ON A PERSONAL SCALE

The Exarch explains the mechanics behind the Rejoinings. That the balance of Aether in the Source versus the Shards is tipped until the Source is strained to the breaking point, and at last fractures in the fabric of reality allow the properly aspected Shard to join with the Source to rebalance the scales. That the overwhelming aetheric shift from the Shard being absorbed - Rejoined - is what causes the Calamities, and why each has a given aetheric aspect.

The WoL has been absorbing all the Primordial Light of the Lightwardens, and after Innocence, Ryne says that not only the WoL's body is breaking down. Their soul is fracturing. She uses the Blessing of Light to quell it and hold them together as much as she can, but the damage hasn't been undone.

That takes Ardbert. The WoL's shard, at the last, sees the WoL breaking, and rushes to fill in the cracks. To restore balance. And yes, the Primordial Light is spent - needs to spent - in defeating Hades, but it's Ardbert rushing in to fill in the gaps left in the WoL that mends them.

Y'shtola and Ryne note, after the fight, that WoL is mended. They doesn't understand how it happened, though they're relieved.

The WoL is the microcosmos in the macrocosmos. Mended just as the Source is with every Rejoining. And the devastation wrought on Hades their personal calamity.

The WoL went through a rejoining so the Source didn't have to.

I know the community is very against outright mentioning that they mod the game and prefers to dance around the subject using any other word than “mods” or “plugin” but seriously, if you use them, do yourself a favor and install the Umbra plugin/toolbar.

don’t make yourself navigate menus midfight to turn the game volume off/down or tooltips on and off, or vfx on/off. Love yourself
