mika: heavy instagram user - posts a lot, just random pictures of her life, selfies, friends, whatever. heavy tumblr user - memes, random rambly rants about whatever, songs she likes, a bunch of pictures of her tits, way too horny on main. probably got suspended a bunch of times because too much tiddy lmao. gets into random fights with people with bad opinions. loves getting anon hate to make fun of.

gabriel: occasional reddit user. not hugely into social media in general, but likes being smarter than anyone else, especially on r/legaladvice. r/amitheasshole is his version of trash tv as a random distraction.

kat: does not care for social media but somehow got accidentally tiktok famous with some random medical misinformation rant because she just couldn't take all the bullshit anymore, and now occasionally throws out a new video. still undecided on how she feels about being called mommy by a bunch of 20yo lesbians. occasional instagram user to stay in touch with old friends and family and such, but doesn't really post much.

aaron: tumblr - lots of music, cute animals, funny shit. pops up every other week to rb a hundred posts in a row and then vanishes again. had a few funny popular text posts. follows tons of people. youtube & tiktok - posts music stuff, like the random weird instruments he acquired, and tutorials. bandcamp & last.fm - not exactly social media, but highly active commenting on random shit all the time

quinn: moderate instagram user - carefully curated edgy aesthetics with lots of black white photography, dead animals, cemetery shit. she's such a cliche goth lmao has a secret hard kinks tumblr, and so many people blocked.

eleonor: tumblr - posts the most incomprehensible surrealistic meta memes that nobody else gets. bugs, tech stuff. long text posts with a bunch of cited sources about their current rabbit hole. follows a lot of tags, but only a handful of people. rarely tags their own posts tho. is in some weird niche discords and subreddits where anyone else would be like "what is this FOR"

ruby: heavy instagram & facebook user, tons of family pictures, selfies, and inspirational quotes. puts way too much energy into educating her older relatives about the random bullshit they keep posting.

fia: usually randomly deletes her twitter account, comes back after a while, ramps up her activity, until it annoys her and gets too much and she deletes again, cycle repeats. gets into arguments with random idiots and afterwards is like "why didn't i just block them". maybe one day she'll learn. doomscrolls.

helena: found her niche on history/philosophy twitter and writes loooong long threads and then vanishes again for weeks. does not care for social media otherwise. used to be an active wikipedia editor but fell out of that eventually.

hi moyo! do you know of any good tutorials or have any advice for using gimp? (all tutorials i find are for photoshop) i’ve been wanting to try my hands at recoloring hairs and i saw that you’ve been using gimp to recolor your afterglow hairs. i know about that one written tutorial by peppermintginger but i found it quite hard to follow for many different reasons. i’m also looking into more shiny hair systems now and that tutorial used a matte hair texture which seems to work a lil different since it doesn’t have any shine placement that needs to be taken into consideration, it’s all just the same texture throughout. i did try the steps in the tutorial but needless to say, that hair retexture went straight to the bin🥲

any insight would be super helpful (ㅅ´ ˘ `) ₊˚⊹

I feel like I'm not going to be much help either. I first learned about retexturing from DeeDee's tutorial, but that's for photoshop too and obviously simgaroop textures aren't shiny. But if you'd like my honest opinion I would still get photoshop. There's ways to obtain it, nudge nudge. I got it from here. Not as many hair systems have gimp curves as they do actions. Iakoa has some curves here, but both curves and actions are easy to use imo. Then I'd give following Fia's tutorial on the sims 2 shenanigans youtube channel a go. I've also not had much luck with gimp and shiny textures - maybe someone else that uses it can comment and share knowledge with both you and me. But that tutorial and photoshop seem easy enough to follow. I've watched it three times because it's super interesting, but I've not actually tried it yet. I primarily just default to gimp because it's what I've always had for non-sims related projects, and it works well enough to just slap less shiny textures on. I do recommend even if using gimp though to copy the alpha to another layer and setting that layer to multiply. Even with textures without shine I find that tip extremely helpful to see where the different pieces are.

Apologies if this doesn't make the most sense, it was thoughts pieced together over the span of about 6 hours because I had to go out half way through typing.

my eldy ring journey so far

having met the requisite tutorial people (melina, kale, ranni), crept around the gatefront ruins camp several times until i finally managed to clear it out without dying

also managed to parry the mean knight with the big shield so maybe picking the confessor class (comes equipped with 100% physical damage negation medium parry shield) was no a mistake

followed the road from the gatefront until i somehow ended up by an evergaol

thought, oh why not, no real penalty to dying in an evergaol

spend the next four hours dying repeatedly to bloodhound knight darriwil while failing every single parry & dying to blood loss having chipped off 2% of his health

then in one insane run parry him four times in a row and kill him without taking any damage whatsoever

i am now in possession of a video clip that makes me look like a god tier elden ring player who does hitless speedruns. this is a complete and absolute lie

i am also now in the possession of the bloodhound's fang. i do not have the stats to wield it

while looking up the bloodhound's fang online to see if its a good weapon (it is) i find out that this is part of blaidd's questline?? you could have summoned him?

get murked repeatedly by the pack of wolves in the cave. they literally ate me alive so many times. the beastman? beat him in one try. wasn't even close. the wolves were the real boss of that cave

at some point i also snuck into liurnia by the secret side passage, met thops, ran away from everything in abject terror, and registered two graces so that melina will take me to the roundtable hold.

Tutorial: How to use UV Mapper as a recoloring guide

Whenever I recolor objects, I use UV Mapper to help me figure out what part of the texture corresponds to what part of the mesh, and to preview what the recolor will end up looking like. Here’s how I do it!

First, download UV Mapper Pro here - I just use the free demo version, the functionality is limited but I’m not a mesher so it does what I need it to for recoloring.

Open the mesh you’re recoloring in SimPE. Select the GMDC and look in Plugin View. Uncheck everything but the subset you’re recoloring (”candle” in this case), then hit Export and save the .obj file.

Next, select the corresponding TXTR for that subset (in this case it’s the one with “red” at the end since I’m not recoloring the flame or the light glow). Right-click on the image and export it as a .png.

Now, load your .obj file in UV Mapper by going to File > Open Model in the menu. It will display the UV map on the left, and the mesh (with no texture) on the right.

Next, you want to export the UV map. Go to File > Save Template in the menu. A popup box will appear. Enter your TXTR size (256 x 256 in this case) and select RGB Color (doesn’t really matter if it’s anti-aliased or not).

Let’s load the original texture to see what it looks like on the mesh. Go to Texture > Load and open the .png you exported from SimPE.

Now, open the texture .png and the UV map .bmp in Photoshop. Go to the Layers panel in the UV map. Right-click on the layer and duplicate it to the other document.

Now, set the blend mode of the UV map layer to Multiply.

So now you have an idea of where each part of the texture is mapped on the mesh. As you work on your recolor, save it as a .png (without the UV map layer visible) and load the texture to preview it.

I’m not sure if this would be helpful to anyone else, but it works well for me personally so I thought I’d share!

I keep seeing people talking about how it's just rumors and not confirmed and the FIA Haven said that Redbull actually have gone over the cap so unless they say they did later then surely it isn't true and they didn't do to. As if... The FIA hasn't just omitted whether a team has cheated before, or haven't failed to follow their own rules even when they know someone has cheated. Like hm maybe the FIA aren't trustworthy in their investigations.

wouldn’t expect much tbh, the standard fia workday is limited to jewellery witch-hunts, trying to work out how many reprimands they can give before it becomes a ten second penalty, doing the occasional rain dance, burning extreme wets down an alleyway in the paddock, seminars on “what does ‘he pushed me off’ really mean?” and tutorials on how to give rbr the most pleasurable experience!

pspsps ms liz, hi, I've been here multiple times (mostly about games) and I saw you have Deathloop, or at least have it installed (sorry if its weird to look at the games you have installed on your desktop, i was curious) and its currently on sale on steam and i love a good timeloop. I played Prey a bit ago (holy shit the ending threw me for a loop WOW) and enjoyed it, I have a friend who raves about Dishonored and they haven't steered me wrong with games so far, so I have good feelings about Arkane games.

so yeah AS you guessed the short answer is YES IT IS WORTH IT!!! doubly so if you can get it on steam. the long answer is:

i have played basically All of the games from arkane and deathloop feels more like dishonored than prey, but that isn't a bad thing!! (if you haven't played the dishonored series and you wind up liking deathloop i'd highly recommend it.) gameplaywise everything feels really polished and fun...when i played i was letting my buddy watch me do the story, so i wound up replaying missions i'd already done in my spare time bc i just couldn't keep my hands off of it. i found ways to do levels i didn't think were possible. there's a lot of freedom in it

the abilities in deathloop imho are what make it resemble DH more than prey, but i think the abilities system is more fun than in prey because in prey when you get the alien abilities it makes the enemies more hostile and i didn't care for that. these are simplified but really fun, i always had a hard time choosing which ones to equip because they're all really good (though admittedly i never played with the one that lets you fling stuff everywhere bc i didn't care). the weapons and trinket system you use for your upgrades comes with a bit of a learning curve (the tutorial section was horrifically annoyingly long) but once you learn the ropes it's a very smooth, fun, satisfying way to work. i havent tried the new update they just released for the 1yr anniversary but it looks amazing too!

the aesthetic and music and the characters are wildly funky and extremely, outrageously fun - the banter you get as you proceed through the levels is very entertaining. it feels like much more of an adventure than prey because it doesnt have that sense of isolation and the characters CUSS. the bosses are the perfect combination of challenging and scary and weird without being TOO hard (with the exception of fia, who has the dubious honor of being one of the most stressful controller-against-the-wall challenges i've ever played, taking me almost twenty tries to complete - come back after you do that one and tell me how many years you aged). i played deathloop before the update that added difficulty levels and i'm not a pro gamer by any means, so anyone should be able to complete it. it's really satisfying to go back to a level you once struggled on with better weapons and abilities and breeze right through it!

that said, there are a couple of cons - the biggest one for me was that my PC had a liiiiittle bit of trouble running it without framerate skips and it took me a long time to get those eliminated. the second biggest one is i think it needed another 6 months or so of dev time, especially in regards to the story. VERY minor story spoilers in the form of: my opinion, but!!! like i said, i haven't played the free update - apparently there's a new, secret ending - but the one we got felt a little bewildering and and anticlimactic. i kept waiting for it all to mean something and it kind of...only meant a little, really?? there's one major twist but instead of making me go "oh COOL" it made me go "oh bad :/" and it was definitely kind of a blueballed feeling bc the rest of the game had my expectations SO astronomically high. to finally finishing the thing was a bit of a letdown

THAT SAID, in spite of its flaws it's one of the most fun times i've ever had playing a first person shooter-ish game. i just wish there was more to do. even replaying some of the levels in my downtime i still only racked up slightly less than 50 hours. but i'm sure on replays/if i were to 100% things/if i tried multiplayer (i havent so far bc crossplatform play costs $$$ and i heard it was a bit lacking anyways) i could get more, which i might go back and try someday, because it's SO FUN. trust me if they gave me 200 hours of content in that game i would play all 200 of them

anyway, can't rec it highly enough, the steam price has apparently dropped to like $24 bucks so you will NEVER find it any cheaper. if you truly do hate it you can return it if you've played less than 4 hours so WHY NOT give it a try. i really hope you enjoy it cuz i sure did!!!

The most competitive sport, which has some of the most dedicated athletes who train hard on a daily basis to master the craft – this is the definition of MMA nowadays. Although, according to some, the sport is dangerous, let’s be honest – watching fights excites people, it is in our DNA. Don’t believe us? Think of gladiator fights – you can’t deny that they were the most exciting shows in the Roman Republic, visited by the Roman emperors themselves. MMA channels the purest form of eagerness to defeat another person, and this is the reason why fighters devote their lives to the discipline.

Along with MMA’s rising popularity around the world, punters’ appetite for MMA sports betting also grows at a rapid pace. Following that, ensuring high MMA and Boxing Odds and a wide variety of markets are among the bookmakers’ primary goals. With MMA being an individual sport, the odds are based on fighters’ current form. Although the matches last less than half an hour, athletes dedicate months for preparation in order to grab the win and the huge prize fund that comes with it.

Emelianenko began his mixed martial arts career as a member of the Russian Top Team (RTT), where he trained under the mentorship of Volk Han and Andrei Kopylov. His debut in MMA was in May 2000 with four straight victories. According to analysts and fans, Emelianenko, nicknamed The Last Emperor, is a major piece of MMA’s history as he is one of those men who paved the discipline’s way and helped to take the ragtag cage fighting to become an actual sport, admired by millions.

But what makes him so unique? Firstly, Emelianenko is the longest-reigning heavyweight lineal champion as after a debated loss in December 2000, he was unbeaten until June 2010, championing a total of 28 fights. Throughout his career, he has won consecutive MMA’s Pride Fighting Championships from 2003 to 2007, and defeated notable opponents including one Pride FC champion, two Olympic medalists, one former and two future K-1 champions, and four former UFC champions, namely Andrei Arlovski, Mark Coleman, Kevin Randleman and Tim Sylvia. In addition, Emelianenko won numerous MMA accolades, including the 2008 Submission/Beatdown of the Year, the 2009 Knockout of the Year, The Heavyweight of the Year for 2003, 2004, and 2005, the 2005 Fighter of the Year, and the 2000s Fight of the Decade. Besides MMA, Emelianenko became a heavyweight champion of the FIAS World Combat Sambo Championship and a bronze medalist at the Russian Judo Federation National Championship. Fedor is considered one of the most well-rounded MMA fighters as he has developed an unrivalled combination of skill set which include powerful striking, master counter punches, and quickness. Besides, his fighting style has outstanding features such as devastating ground and pound from open guard and smart footwork. His experience in other martial arts gives him further advantage in MMA as he uses throwing techniques from judo and sambo to bring his opponent to the ground. Largely crushing adversaries since 2000, Fedor is so confident in his skills that he even allows his rivals to choose their fighting style.

Undisputedly, Emelianenko has the ability to beat strong competitors in their strongest domain as he has some impressive victories over memorable combatants of the 2000s like Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and Minotauro Nogueira. According to many industry observers, the fight between Emelianenko and the former kickboxer Cro Cop for the Pride Heavyweight Title, held in August of 2005 in Japan was „a clash of the titans”, and is still one of the greatest mixed martial arts bout, which can be used as a tutorial for young MMA fighters. From the second round onwards, Fedor dominated the match both on the feet and on the ground and proved that he has world-class striking, which secured him the win via unanimous decision.

Even though he has never fought in the globe’s premier MMA company UFC, the fact that some people point out when arguing that his “greatest MMA fighter of all-time” title is controversial, he did not lose a single fight for an entire decade, and this achievement can’t be ignored in any league. The truth is that although Emelianenko’s legacy is a much-discussed topic, he is a one-of-a-kind legend who was the first to excel in all areas of mixed martial arts.

In June 2012, Fedor Emelianenko announced his retirement, however, in July 2015, after a three-year break from MMA, he confirmed that he would be returning to active competition. Up to date, The Last Emperor is fighting for Bellator MMA, and his last fight, which he won via first-round knockout, was held in December 2019 against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Introduce yourself:

Hey, I’m Caitlin. I’m 21 years of age and doing a BCom majoring in Marketing and Commercial Law. I was born and raised in Auckland and came to Wellington for Uni. Both my parents were born in Samoa where my father hails from the villages of Matavai Safune and Saleaula whilst my mother from Sataua and Saleaula. Because I am doing Commerce, I thought I’d choose an elective outside my degree. PASI101 appealed to me as I was curious to gain a better understanding of my culture and heritage through the academic schooling realm in contrast to how I had learnt about my heritage at home.

What do you think about the PASI 101 course overall?

The course has been very enlightening. Doing Commerce, everything is straightforward and answers are pretty one-sided. There may be different formulas of working out answers but eventually, everyone comes to the same conclusion. With PASI101 being my first Arts paper, I have seen how there are so many interpretations of how a question is answered. It is very opinionated. I have found it interesting how people perceive things and how multifaceted our Pacific people’s way of thinking is.

The concepts and ideas of the course have hit very close to home. It’s crazy to think there is a subject formulated around the Pacific way of life despite our lack of representation in the media or academia, or should I say the negative perpetuation. Taking history back in High School, the curriculum was very ‘white-fixated’. The main topic was based around the Cold War and the English. I recall back in year 10 when we learnt an abysmal amount of history on the Pacific Island migration. It was sad to say the least but expected. That was what was most unfortunate, was that I expected it. The fact that I find it so astounding that there’s a course based on us is also quite disheartening. Why is it that our history in NZ is hardly ever considered NZ history? In saying that, I can’t say I’ve learnt anything that new just because I have grown up learning about my culture by my parents, grandparents and other relatives. Growing up in South Auckland also, I was surrounded by Pacific Islanders. My parents are separated so my mother’s side of the family taught me the fa’asamoa whilst my father’s side taught me the assimilation into NZ for the first generation Samoan. By having these two different perspectives, I was able to gain a clearer understanding and comprehension of my culture.

Did you have an ‘aha’ moment in PASI 101?

An ‘aha’ moment I had was during tutorials. I attended predominantly caucasian and asian schools and even in my current courses now I am surrounded by ethnicities but my own. In saying this, I have had my fair share of being the odd one out in class. I’ve been the person people look at when a stereotype about Polynesians is said aloud to the class and I’ve felt the shame of being of my skin colour. The feeling is something I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy so when it came to tutorials and I did my presentation on Albert Wendt and included a part of white-fixation where we deem the white way of life the ‘right’ way of life, I couldn’t help but feel bad for my caucasian and afakasi peers. Some were ashamed of what their ancestors had done and it looked as though they felt a inkling of guilt. We can’t blame the mistakes made by those in the past on us, we can only learn from them. The way they all sat at one table together reflected the way most Pacific Islander kids would flock to familiarity. They looked for someone that looked like them so that they felt more comfortable and although they didn’t know each other, they felt safer as a united front and they felt that they weren’t alone. It was crazy to see that from the outside looking in because I’m so used to being in their position

Was there a certain lecture or piece of material that stood out to you in PASI 101?

I really resonated to Albert Wendt’s piece in ‘Towards a New Oceania’ where he spoke on the discrimination within our own culture. Being a first generation Samoan, I get flack from my parents and cousins who still live in Samoa about not being a true teine Samoa because I cannot speak my language. I can understand it well but when it comes to speaking it, that’s another story. We see how NZ Islanders and non-Islanders mock those with ‘broken english’, that same behaviour is reflected in fluent Samoan speakers mocking ‘broken samoan’ accents. We’ve created this unwritten spectrum where were are either ‘fia palagi’ or ‘fob’. Why is this even a thing? If you identify as a Samoan, you are a Samoan. If we are being held back by white supremacy, why are we adding onto this feeling of not belonging?

What advice would you have for future students who decide to take PASI 101?

For future students, really take in the lessons you’re being taught and create an open dialogue with your peers. It’s so interesting to see people with different walks of life experience things that you’ve dealt with and to see how they’ve reacted. Try to include your palagi peers. You know what it’s like to be a minority so include them in your discussions and help them see things from your perspectives. Also, not just to the students taking PASI101, but to those doing Arts degrees in general, be proud of your degree! I see so many people ashamed of their Bachelor of Arts because they are looked down on by people taking different courses. If it’s what you enjoy and what you love, who gives a crap what other people say. This life is only temporary, so do what you love

Anything extra you would like to add?

Joining the Samoan Association this year was amazing because I got to have fellowship with people like me. This year for So’otaga we were given a verse in the bible and I think that it really goes with what we are all dealing with at uni. The verse says: James 1:2-4 Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. But endurance must do it’s complete work, so that you may be mature and complete lacking nothing. Hang in there everyone and all the best with your studies!

Kicsit kusza a dolog. A prológusba még Gabriellel voltunk, aztán az 1. felvonásban nem a fiával, Trevorral, hanem Simon Belmonttal kalandozunk, aki talán az unokája lehet. Mindenesetre érdekesnek tűnik.

A tutorial részek egész jók. Kicsit szájbarágósak, de ez most kell is.

Kezd lassacskán előjönni a játék mélysége is. Nem mindenhol egyértelmű, mit kell csinálni. egy nem látható továbbjutási lehetőséget pl. fél óráig kerestem.

Nem biztos, hogy minden kerülőutat érdemes megtenni. Az egyik szinte teljesen lemerítette a mágiámat, és semmi hasznot nem hozott.

Túl vagyok az első bossfighton, ami eléggé megizzasztott. Egy pestisálarcos figura ellen kellett küzdeni, aki a végén átváltozott valami szörnnyé.

Plafonból kinyúló és megragadó zombikéz. Azért vannak furcsa dolgok.

A helyszínek eddig kifejezetten változatosak.

Van egy leláncolt szellem a könyvtárban.

Ebben a kastélyban még a könyvek is az ellenségeink.

Nem kifejezetten nehéz, de cseles feladványok is vannak benne.

Találkoztam egy succubus jellegű démonnal. Gyanús, hogy bossfight várható.

Ezt én kezdem nem érteni. Alucard volt az, aki végig segített. De akkor ő most kinek a kije? Gabriel fia nem lehet, mert ő Trevor. Akkor talán Simoné, és valahogy visszautazik az időben? A második felvonásban ő a főszereplő. Remélhetőleg minden kiderül.

Valami furcsa történik. Hirtelen minden kifakult. Valószínűleg valami hiba.

Alucard egy izgalmas karakter. Jobban tetszik, mint Simon.

Alucardnak kell megküzdeni azzal a szörnnyel, amivé átváltozott a hosszúcsőrű alak.

Már farkassá is tudok változni. Lehet, hogy lesz időlassító képességem is.

Ez a nagy moly a legidegesítőbb boss, főleg, ha nem tudom, hogy mit kell vele csinálni.

Óh, te jó ég! Magamtól nem jöttem volna rá. Meg kellett néznem egy videót.

A harmadik felvonás az előzményeket meséli el. Trevor a főhős.

Érdekes koncepció az is, hogy mindenkinek ugyanazt a helyszínt kell bejárni, csak más-más részeit. Én mondjuk egy kicsit már unom. Ami ismétlődik, hogy mindig a pincéből kell feljutni valamilyen úton a toronyig.

A tekercsek arra engednek következtetni, hogy majd egy nagy rovarral kell bossfight során küzdeni.

És valóban egy százlábú jött elő. Ez elég király volt.

Tök egyértelmű puzzle volt, mégse jöttem rá magamtól, hogy a medálok sorrendjét is figyelembe kell venni.

Valószínűleg a játékkészítő lesz az egyik főboss a végén. Vagy mégsem, mert a leírásban az áll, hogy Trevor nem fog vele harcolni.

Alucard és Trevor valójában egy és ugyanaz a személy. Valamiért nem számítottam erre a fordulatra, pedig egészen logikus volt.

Szórakoztató egy játék volt, a végére a szálak is összeértek. Bár a hack ‘n’ slash stílussal úgy vagyok, hogy kb. 2 órahossza után elfáradok benne, ebben a történetszálak egymásba fonódása fenn tudta tartani az érdeklődést. Spin-offként megfelelő volt, bár láttam már jobb platformert is. Viszont, mivel nem túl hosszú, nem vált unalmassá vagy frusztrálóvá.
