"And as for the solution to this? I think it’s to have less armor, and have the metal be a more obvious part of him. " YES YES MAKE HIM NAKEY LMAOO
Ok but for Real, Machine Herald really suffers from "2011 league champ design" syndrome. Is important to note that at that point they didn't even had a proper narrative team or cohesive lore direction, and they were just starting to build the world of Runaterra and the aesthetics associated with each region
That being said, they do (very slowly) update old champions under new standards, this is called a VGU or VU, and the results have always been fantastic (look up vgus for Volibear, Yorick, Fiddlesticks, Warwick and even Cait), and I can't wait to know what they will do with Viktor... eventually. There are some Champs that are in far more need that him
Yessssss, Viktor being *technically* naked would be so hype. Like… the armor IS HIM and he is the armor. He could probably move shit around, slim things down when he requires stealth. But it would be awesome if he just… doesn’t feel the need to put clothes on. His build is perfect, the mechanized form that it is. Why bother hiding it under something purely for cosmetic reasons? (Which is actually a decent argument for why should anyone wear clothes, and I think that’s kinda hilarious. Viktor=accidental nudism spokesman).
Also ooooooo yes those VGU are pretty great! And I have a sneaking suspicion that the reason they’re not/haven’t given Viktor an update in the last 5 years… is because they’re saving it to make it match Arcane; either by giving him an Arcane skin, or straight up changing his main look (kinda don’t want that?? Like I want him to be updated, but… I have a fondness for his outdated look, and I think it should still be an option. Like call it a legacy skin or something, rather than wiping it out entirely).
But either way… I want him to be spooky. I want him to be terrifying. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: if Arcane MH doesn’t trigger my inner monster fucker, I don’t want it 🤣

My idea for a nocturne vgu, a dream demon that is tied to a censer( incense burner) his lower body juts forward like how a real shadow does so. I wanted him to feel different from fiddlesticks, look intimidating and keep some of his og shape language

“The Fiddlesticks Dev Team has locked themselves in the darkest, most terrifying corner of Riot Offices, with constant horror movies on repeat. They can’t wait for their nightmare to end and yours to begin when they are finally free from Fiddle’s demonic embrace.”
Every glimpse into the new fiddlesticks is increasingly more terrifying, i’m all for it but like

State of the Meta: Master of Metal
By Helmight

Now that I’m finally back from my brief vacation - and have had time to check the PBE - I have a few thoughts about the Mordekaiser rework. The Iron Revenant is finally getting the VGU he has waited so long for, and it looks absolutely amazing.
But Morde’s rework isn’t hitting the mark simply because the staff at Riot Games happened to get it right. No - the story of the Morde VGU stems back to Season 5′s rework, and a Summoner named Malicious Metal.
Y’see, back when Morde first got reworked in Season 5, there was a LOT of feedback generated around the changes. It’s impossible to list all of the voices that contributed to the discussion, but one particular Summoner was the most outspoken and the most informative - and that, my friends, was Malicious Metal. If the screenname wasn’t enough, suffice it to say that they were a Mordekaiser main, and they weren’t happy with how the rework went.
But rather than simply excoriate Riot and leave it at that, Malicious Metal went in-depth with their threads. They analyzed exactly why the Mordekaiser rework was a failure, and what would need to change to help fix Mordekaiser’s problems while simultaneously addressing his rework. Even after Morde got balanced into a decent spot, Malicious Metal kept making threads talking about the Iron Revenant, discussing everything from his current state of balance to what they wanted to see from him in his inevitable VGU.
And finally, years later, all of that work paid off. Malicious Metal’s threads were clearly invaluable to Riot’s VGU effort, given how good the Morde rework looks - he’s exactly what we all wanted, down to how he strides into battle, unperturbed by the mere mortals who stand between him and his goal. The fact that Malicious Metal was invited to Riot HQ to playtest the new Mordekaiser stands testament to how useful their threads were at informing Riot of what Mordekaiser is supposed to be.
The lesson here is simple - good feedback, and early feedback, is better than nothing. If you know your champion is up for a rework - as with the recently-announced Fiddlesticks and Volibear updates - make plenty of threads detailing what you want from the changes. Thematics, kit design, feel - any feedback is good feedback for Riot, provided you talk about it in advance, and are constructive. Waiting until the rework is on the PBE is far too late to have an effect.
And while MM might have been a die-hard Mordekaiser fan, anyone can do this for any champion they happen to like. Just remember to be polite, be thorough, and more importantly, be passionate. Riot wants their characters to be as close to what the fans want as possible, and Mordekaiser’s VGU is ample evidence of this.
~~~
Let me know your thoughts on the Mordekaiser VGU in the comments, and be sure to like and reblog this post if you enjoyed it!
When Was The Last Time Such-and-Such A Champion Got A Skin
Taking suggestions for a shorter title for these posts.
This list doesn’t take into account anyone we know is on the rework list (Swain, Irelia, Aatrox) or who has been reworked in the past year (Evelynn, Galio, Urgot, Warwick).
When I use the term ‘regularly-released skin’, I mean a skin that is available year-round in the shop. So, legacy holiday/e-sports skins, limited Victory skins, etc. do not count for that. Hextech-crafting exclusive skins also do not count towards regular releases, despite being available all the time, because they’re a pain to get. Nothing wrong with that, but I do think it’s important to differentiate between “skin available for a select amount of time or with a great deal of effort” and “skin that’s always available for cash-dollars”.
I am only listing people who haven’t had a skin in at least two years, so anyone who had one after September 2015 but still in 2015 won’t actually be listed. I am including the current skins on the PBE and am assuming they’ll be legacy.
Champions who haven’t gotten a new regularly-released skin since September 2015: Darius, Garen, Graves, Lucian, Quinn, Sivir, Sona, Teemo, Vayne, Zed, Zac.
Champions who haven’t gotten a new skin at all since September 2015: Amumu, Blitzcrank, Cho’Gath, Fiddlesticks, Mordekaiser, Rammus, Rek’Sai, Rengar, Shaco, Skarner, Udyr, Vladimir, Xerath, Zilean.
Champions who haven’t gotten a new regularly-released skin since 2014: Kalista.
Champions who haven’t gotten a new skin at all since 2014: Heimerdinger, Jarvan IV, Rumble.
Champions who haven’t gotten a new regularly-released skin since 2013: Morgana, Viktor.
Champions who haven’t gotten a new skin at all since 2013: Shen.
Champions who haven’t gotten a new regularly-released skin since 2011: Nunu.
What’s changed since the last time I made one of these posts: Annie, Caitlyn, Elise, Nidalee, Twitch, Malzahar, Veigar, and Cassiopeia all got new regular-release skins! Viktor and Zed have upcoming Harrowing skins!
Sivir had her Neo PAX skin released. Since it’s both only available via hextech-crafting and for a limited time, if you didn’t have the original PAX skin, she still hasn’t had a regularly-released skin since 2015.
Yorick has moved off my recently-reworked list, but Arclight Yorick was released so he has NOT gone over a year since his rework without getting a new skin. Unlike poor Shen.
Evelynn and Urgot’s reworks have been released. Swain and Irelia are on the full VGU list. Aatrox is getting a massive gameplay update.
VGU (and maybe Lore) Rework Choices (Vote)
///Oooooh. I like this.
Gameplay wise: Either Fiddlestick or Dr. Mundo. Dr. Mundo is boring as heck and every time he’s the META pick in pro play, it’s the most boring thing in the world. Fiddlesticks is either useless and gimmicky or ridiculously strong (Screw Fiddle Support when it was once META)
Lore Wise: Volibear because he’s now an eldritched abomination in the new lore which is.. not seen at all in his current design. He has to go. (His gameplay sucks as well) Also give him bitter Ornn interactions. Give him them.
I’m gonna be picking Volibear. He just needs it so desperately. But Mundo means more Zaun info
(I have no idea why Nocturne’s in there when he’s pretty popular in both pro play and common play)
“Could you talk about the 6 "Unique Playstyle" champions, that you haven't given a subclass? Cho'Gath, Blitzcrank, Singed, Fiddlesticks, Kennen, Urgot. For what reason specifically can't each of them fit anywhere, while other unique champs can be classified? It's also noticeable how they'll likely all be candidates for VGUs within a few years. While a VGU will preserve what makes them unique, would finding their home among the subclasses be likely too, or at least be something desirable as well? “
“For every champion in the game, name one of its abilities that make the kit. I'll do the first one. For Annie, it's her passive. Your turn :) “
I’ll try to be clever and answer both questions with the same answer. Blitz’s Q defines him so completely that it overwhelms any tank or other aspects that he might have. He feels like he’s in his own subclass - Grabber.
In terms of updates, all the champs mentioned could stand to have some 2017 art. Urgot needs both a gameplay update and a visual update. I don’t personally feel like Singed or Blitz, or probably Fiddle, need much in the way of gameplay. Kennen and Cho are probably somewhere in between.
Pretty sure rioters did say atleast two times that shaco ain't a demon (despite his title) which could also mean that the lore team has already established the rest of the demons. Perhaps shaco is a lost spirit who is a wannabe demon
Yeah I really wouldn’t take some Rioters’ word at face value with that because I very-much doubt that even they know what Shaco’s supposed to be at this point. I mean, Shaco hasn’t even been in any of their VGU polls yet, and we’re STILL waiting for Skarner’s update. After him, allegedly, Nocturne and Shyvana are supposed to be next (though given that the LoR has already added them I doubt either of those two will be getting any major design changes. Maybe Shyvana’s can be a like canon VGU similar to Vayne where she leave Demacia and ditches the Dragonguard armor, but I don’t think her actual appearance/body type/dragon form will change much.)
Also Riot has been known to change their minds on things before, lest we forget that Varus’s retcon made the Darkin into aliens, and Aatrox’s retcon then changed them again into fallen Ascended. Suffice it to say: Riot doesn’t really have much of a track record for planning character arcs super far ahead, and as much as I love some of their newer stories, they really haven’t given me cause to believe that’s changed.
The point is: Shaco’s current lore is blatantly just a placeholder until they finally get around to updating him, like how Fiddlesticks was retconned into being a farmer’s soul haunting a scarecrow until they made it a demon. Either way, while I do appreciate you sending your thoughts in on the matter, debating what Shaco is in the current lore seems kind of pointless because we already know the answer: he’s nothing. What little backstory Shaco does currently have is, as I said, a placeholder for something more fleshed-out to be added later down the road. Whether that’s a demon or something else, well... Hopefully we’ll see by the end of the decade.))
#Outofpower#Didn't expect that old post to get brought up again but I don't mind#I always enjoy a healthy discussion
League of Legends’ Volibear and Fiddlesticks will both be reworked next year
Two long-serving League of Legends champions are set to receive complete overhauls next year after winning (or maybe losing) a community vote. Earlier today, developer Riot Games announced that Volibear and Fiddlesticks will both receive visual gameplay updates (VGUs) in 2020.
Earlier this month, Riot announced a public vote to determine which of five classic champions the community would most like to see reworked next year. Shyvana, Nocturne, and Dr Mundo were all on the ballot list, but Volibear came away on top with a 24.69% share. Extremely close behind, however, on 24.42%, was Fiddlesticks, and as a result lead champion designer Ryan ‘Reav3’ Mireles says that both champions will receive updates in the not too-distant future.
In China, it’s worth noting that Shyvana secured a 24.67% share. While that wasn’t enough to let her win outright, it was a commanding result in a major region. As a result, Mireles says that Riot will “keep her in mind when we choose a champion to update after Volibear and Fiddlesticks.”
