Drew the TAS newbies in the movie uniforms!

I find it pretty disappointing these two never showed up, or were even mentioned in the movies. I suppose it would probably be difficult, given the SFX of the time, but I feel like they coulda at least mentioned them. I'm especially mad they didn't come back for the Kelvin movies or SNW.

Ofc, there is that series of novels that shows us what happens to them post-TAS, but those are dubiously canon, and even then, they take place after the movies, so this is my version of them in the movie era! M'Ress doesn't really have much to go off for personality, but given the fact she became a lieutenant after only 2 years and that "Not so loud, you fool!" exchange with Scotty, I imagine her to be really confident and a bit competitive. I imagine post-TAS she worked her way all the way up to second officer just through sheer brute force. Na Eth meanwhile has been a bit slower to advance, but I imagine he's remained a competent navigator and continued to delight his new crew with his music. He always seemed like a chill guy, so I imagine he's the polite, quiet listener on his new bridge crew.

I really liked drawing these two, maybe I may draw an AU or something where they were around in some of the iconic scenes from the movies.

Just for fun, I was thinking about what the cast for a remake of Cube (1997) would look like. Yes, the Japanese remake exists, but what I mean is one made by either a Canadian or American studio. Something like what Blumhouse would do (or even A24 if they’re interested).

So in coming up with a potential cast, my thought process was:

1) Alderson has to be played by the most famous actor in the group in order to heighten the shock of him dying after a few minutes onscreen.

2) Rennes has to be played by the oldest actor. They also have to be able to pull off the role of grumpy, old, crotchety man.

3) Holloway has to be played by an actress older than Leaven’s actress. Also, they have to be able to pull off acting paranoid.

4) Leaven has to be younger than Holloway. I was also thinking that a hypothetical studio would want to cast a popular actress for Leaven in order to attract younger audiences.

5) Quentin has to be played by an actor known for heroic parts in order to sell the double turn with Worth.

6) Worth has to be played by an actor known for villainous parts in order to sell the double turn with Quentin.

7) Kazan has to be played by a “character actor”. Aka someone good at giving more distinct performances, separate from the leading parts.

Based on the above rules, the cast I came up with was:

1) Matt Damon as Alderson

2) Matthew Modine as Rennes

3) Elizabeth Reaser or Alfre Woodard as Holloway

4) Hailee Steinfeld or Zendaya as Leaven

5) Anthony Mackie as Quentin (because people will mainly recognize him as Sam Wilson)

6) Iwan Rheon as Worth (because people will mainly recognize him as Ramsay Bolton)

7) Iain de Caestecker as Kazan
