I noticed that post you made about Final Fantasy Tactics. You played both versions or just the original?
Hey, thanks for the question. Larsa here answering this since between Ash and I, I'm the Final Fantasy Tactics expert on the blog. Personally FFT is one of my favorite games of all time and I believe Matsuno is a genius given his body of work with games like FFT, Vagrant Story, Ogre Battle, and FFXII.
As far as FFT goes I have played through fully the original Playstation release and the later "The War of The Lions" PSP version over the years. Suffice to say they both have their own pros and cons in comparison to each other between the original having less slowdown than the PSP version and spells/abilities quotes still being in the game. Of course War of The Lions has a cleaner (mostly better) English translation and extra content.
At this point though when I replay FFT I tend to play fan made hacks such as "The Lion War of the Lions" (yes, the redundant name is accurate) which patches in the PSP content into the original Playstation version for the sort of best of both worlds. It's definitely worth going out of your way to get set up.
I recognize your account name as a reference to Tactics Ogre, very cool. Still need to get around to playing more of that series in the future!

New Bodyguard, Who Dis?
Tumblr media
Delita would've wished that Ovelia would end him in that attack if he was stuck with that pyromaniac of a bodyguard.
Please note, FF Tactics fans, Inferno isn't being malicious with his misgendering. He just has some screws loose.

Finished a day early for once (lol), here is fanart for July, Ramza Beoulve from Final Fantasy Tactics. Great memories of my favorite game, I just wanted to draw something for my specialest boy. This is also my last fanart posted on Twitter (or X if you must), although I can't do much about AI scraping my previous artwork, on Twitter or elsewhere, I can at least make it harder by not feeding the ego machine directly. Or I guess I can draw six fingered hands but why do that extra work? Enjoy. And remember, I'll be posting to my domain from now on!

I’ve completed two single class challenges for final fantasy tactics war of the lions.
I’ve done WotL class Dark Knight, and I just finished Orator (Mediator)
Tumblr media
I’ll update once I do more. I have several in progress, but I may have to restart one or two of them.
WotL Onion Knight I have two ideas for. Onion Knight gets more powerful the more classes are mastered. Thr higher level the OK, the better stat growth.
So, my two ideas. Low level OK with terrible growth, and high level OK with perfect growth. LLOK is pretty easy to get and it’ll be pretty hard to get through most battles, even with all equipment available (Onion Equipment can be obtained from the poachers den but only after beating the game once so i put all poachers den items, except poaching class, as off limits)
HLOK will be an easier run but mastering every job class is gonna get you to lvl 99. So, I had a plan. For my HLOK run, I’m going to actively level down in the class I gained a level in. For example, if level 3, 4, and 5 gained levels as a white mage, once I level down to 5, 5, 4, and 3 would be levels down as the white mage. This would ensure that no level down level up shenanigans happen.
The degenerator trap isn’t available until after the SCC is intended to start, so LLOK and HLOK would both be the same up to that point.
I have different ideas for how to make it work. Since I’ll be leveling up all classes, I could take the time to get talk skills to Chicken a monster on the map, and generate levels and JP in the desert. Then, once a level up happens, I can take that character to the trap. This means I should only have to track levels up to that point.
The original SCC was meant for the PlayStation version of the game, not WotL so I kinda have to make the challenge my own to conform with WotL. If anyone is curious I can let people know my additional runs.

Spencer. A War of the Visions fan made character. If I could ever have a unit added, it would be this lil weapon.
SO, a few years ago,@enstasia was playing FFTactics, and one of the starter units was this lad named Spencer. He was constantly getting punched in the head and downing potions like a champion, and he became our best unit. He will live forever.

steam library challenge: Final Fantasy Tactics tWotL
Tumblr media
time played: 32 hours rating: 9/10 quick review: a REALLY good introduction to strategy rpgs! finished 12/29/23
I started playing FFT in about September and finished the game almost at the very end of December.
I've played Fire Emblem before so I have some idea of strategy rpgs, but this was the first time playing one that I actively had trouble in battles and would have to rearrange units, try different characters, and different strategies. Really loved this game! Ramza is a wonderful protagonist.
I do have a few gripes about the game that would come up from time to time:
The scope of the game is big, and there are a lot of characters. A lot are not remarkable, but were important to the story, and often you would be introduced to someone and then not see them again for 3 chapters, and were expected to remember their role and name
In that vein, [and this is less FFT and more the medieval wartime genre of storytelling], the story was difficult to follow pre-auricite introduction. You'd meet a character like Lord Vrinkle Duke of House Galbronza, and Ramza would give a bit of exposition on how this guy helped his father back in the day in the days of the War of Yonderling Plains, and then Lord Vrinkle betrays you a chapter later because he's actually been working for His Excellency Duke Lorelei who is your enemy, but you don't remember who that is because he was only mentioned once last chapter. Things were a bit easier to understand chapters 3 and onward.
My #1 criticism with the game itself is that the limited camera movement during a battle sometimes made it actually impossible to see where units were. The terrain often covered up possible spots and some maps, no matter which way you rotate the camera, make it impossible to see all squares on the map.
My #2 criticism is similar, sometimes I would move a unit thinking I could reach an enemy but would be just a square or two off. Being able to take back movement would have been a lifesaver.
Anyway, despite my points of contention, I highly enjoyed the game and would consider it a title I would replay. I also am very interested in checking out other Tactics games, and trying out the other FFT games in the series.

Another video game presentation, another day where there is no Final Fantasy Tactics remaster being formally announced.
Regardless, I have drawn Ramza today, lacking nose and all.
I hope that, however FFT gets remastered, it has a visual style like the cutscenes from the War of the Lions version if the game isn't that weird HD-2D style.
Anyhow, got this on twitter alsoooooooo
