Normally we'd make a joke about Good Omens here but we're still too emotionally fragile about it to do so.
The long-awaited second season of Good Omens is finally out on @primevideo, and, well, it's gonna be a long wait for season three. Thanks to all the fan artists and fic writers who will hold us over until then. The Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug & Cat Noir movie premiered on @netflix, and fans are delighting in drawing comparisons with the show. Five Nights at Freddy's Ruin DLC dropped, so we hope all y'all are enjoying all the new frightening gameplay. One of the most anticipated manga chapters of Jujutsu Kaisen was animated in the latest episode, while the manga itself has been a continual spiral of mind-blowing fights. The trailer for the film adaptation of Red, White, & Royal Blue is whipping fans into a tizzy. Finally, Twitter is X now. Sure. This is Tumblr's Week in Review.

just watched cabin fever for the first time and either ive been over-analyzing too many horror movies or its about the fear of stds (specifically aids) that people blame on the queer community
#listen. LISTEN#the sores on both karen bert and paul first appeared around their crotches#while for marcy it was scratches on her back she got during sex before moving to her legs#so that's where you get the fear of stds#but also the vitriolic hate and horror against anyone who is sick and the ensuing violence against those people#(for no reason like? they're asking for help and are met with violence instead of empathy IMMEDIATELY#the way they blame each other and refuse to be so much as near eachother#while the real problem is the fact that the resevoir used for tap water is contaminated because there are no safeguards keeping it clean#the first cop paul meets encorages him to stay and party and have sex with his (female) friend because the guy who was sick is gone now#when bert tries to get help and is bit by that kid and the kid's father says 'if you're sick that's YOUR problem'#'but if my kid's sick that's MY problem and YOUR fault and that's testamount to murder and oh yeah im gonna murder you now'#then he and his redneck friends hunt him down like an animal when all he wanted was to find a hospital#when paul is finally taken to the hospital and asked how he got the disease and he's out of it and says he got it from a random guy#he's trying to explain what happened but the cops and the doctor slowly leave the room and turn off all the lights#and the doctor says he cant treat him there. and the cop says he'll take him to another hospital. and then he's in the car with the deputy#trying to explain it's in the water whike he refuses to listen to listen to him. knowing by now that he's going to be killed#and finally when we see jeff again. hes crawling out of his hidey hole to check on his friends and he's both horrified and ecstatic#to realize he's the only one who made it out. reoeating this to himself over and over as exits the cabin only to be shot down by the police#in clear comparison to ben in night of the living dead which is of course another film about both disease and social commentary#also i immediately clocked paul as bi lmao#that scene in the beginning where both karen and bert were leaning their heads on his shoulders as they slept and he just smiled? that's bi#not to mention he was called gay like twice in the movie. admittedly is was in the usual casually-homophobic way 2000's movies tended to#but i still stand by it lol#no one is reading these tags and yet i murmer sweet-nothings into the void regardless#horror movies#cabin fever

Glass Onion Spoilers - Foreshadowing and Among Us
I’ve seen a few posts dunking on glass onion for being “cringe” because of the Among Us scene and a few praising it for accurately reflecting the fact that this is all everyone was playing in 2020, but I haven’t seen anyone really talk about how brilliantly Among Us works as a foreshadowing/storytelling device.
On the surface - as the film itself points out! - the game is a neat little parallel of the island: one murderer hidden among us, with the objective being to find them out. But this comparison goes far deeper than the basic premise of the film.
Firstly, Benoit appears as the game’s imposter, and then, it is later revealed, is literally an imposter, arriving on the island uninvited under false pretences - one of the first major twists of the film spelled out to the audience in the opening act. And he isn’t alone - just as two imposters generally work together to deceive the other players, so Benoit and Helen work together to infiltrate the group. BUT, and this is the bit that really drives me wild, the endgame format of Among Us perfectly reflects the endgame of the film. The way to win Among Us isn’t necessarily a case of killing everyone or surviving every round - the way to win is by convincing your fellow players to believe you, and to vote accordingly.
During the trial Andi loses because the imposter - the billionaire impersonating a genius - convinces the other players that she should be voted out; she is as effectively thrown out of the airlock as she is the business, and then literally killed to protect the [fortune of] the “crew.”
But, Andi was not the imposter, and so the game continues.
The imposter kills again, and when Miles confesses to causing the lights to go out, this is another excellent hint - only the imposter can sabotage the lights!
Then, with all the characters assembled much like an “Emergency Meeting,” we reach the climax of the film: Miles burns the napkin evidence, and immediately the ensemble is back to the voting booth as Helen, like her sister, fights for the players’ support in voting out the imposter. Any Among Us player will recognise the infuriating feeling when you literally just saw them vent for the love of god you were all there vote them OFF- and that frustration - of speaking the truth and not being believed - is evident in this scene.
But these players don’t care about the truth; they care about surviving (ie staying rich), and so they will vote off an innocent person to placate the shark. Which is absolutely not how you win the game.
Then, then, the game’s final round: the imposter has lost his tools, is revealed for the useless fraud he is, and it’s when he has nothing left to offer the other players that one more vote is held - the characters literally raise their hands as they pledge their support to Helen, in part to give the appearance of swearing in upon the witness stand, but also in part to give the visual of a literal vote... such as that of an Among Us emergency meeting vote.
Tumblr media
And it’s when Miles is finally, rightfully ejected that at last, the game is won.
Among Us is a game of social engineering, of lying and convincing others of your lies to prolong your survival, deception, and the malleability of truth. Presenting this game in the opening of the film is more than a gimmick or scene-setter: it illustrates the social structures at the heart of the story.
TLDR: Among Us foreshadows the film’s premise, but also plot twists, character choices, and significantly the film’s resolution by way of group vote.

HEAVY SPOILERS FOR MONKEY MAN!!!! GO WATCH THE MOVIE IF YOU HAVENT ITS REALLY GOOD DAMMIT!!!!!!!
Anyway
I think an overlooked bit in Monkey Man is how bleach is used as imagery and association. Bleach is often use is to remove stains from clothes/surfaces, disinfect things, and just generally clean stuff. I think this plays a lot into the revenge narrative central to the film, as well as offering a comparison/contrast to the villians’ methods of “removing India’s scars”
When the Kid first shows his hands he says they look that way from bleach and chemicals and calls them his CV. Now, without the mention of bleach this scene is still impactful within context, bc the Kid is indirectly saying that his life is defined by his trauma and the death of his mother (and maybe even his inability to save her). Hands are also a reoccurring symbol throughout the film in an of themselves. But back to bleach. I think mentioning bleach is important bc it depicts bleach as corrosive and something higher ups don’t want to engage in. “Give me the job no one wants to do, and ill do it.” No one at Kings wants what the Kid wants, and no one there is willing to cleanse the city and the establishment of its own corruption.
There’s also the fact that Kid’s pseudonym comes from the brand of bleach he uses at his job. By naming himself after the bleach he uses, Kid associates himself with an aggressive way of cleansing, which is kinda the whole message of Monkey Man as a narrative. It’s telling that the closest thing to a conventional name we have for the Kid just reinforces his purpose within the story.
Finally, the Kid bleaches his monkey mask before he goes to Kings for the final act. I think this is symbolic of him stripping away his persona of “Kong” that he used as a fighter from the mask, replacing it with the identity of Hanuman he has come to inhabit. The lighter fur looks more like the fur Hanuman is shown to have throughout the movie, both in the children’s book and the puppet in the stage play. It could also symbolize the Kid “cleansing his mind” of what remains from before he was saved by the hijras, and fully embracing his purpose.
Am i thinking about this way to much? Obviously but i don’t care bc its fun lol. Love this movie.

Blurb request from h pov!!
Lovesick H who used to have a terribly big crush on y/n but was too silly to realise she felt the same way and he’s reminiscing because now he’s got the girl of his dreams asleep on top of him and she’s his best friend now!! and he finds it hilarious he still acts lovesick and clumsy around her 😫 😫😫😫😫😫
Wait that’s so cute here’s a shorty little thing
Patreon
——-
It all came full circle eventually. If life had taught him anything, that would be the lesson.
Soft breaths puffed against the side of his neck as he laid still on the sofa. A mess of hair narrowly avoided his mouth, but he wouldn’t mind fishing a few strands from his lips if it meant getting to have her on top of him. Her weight a grounding comfort to him, something he used to dream about.
He’d had lectures with her and missed notes because he was too busy looking at her. When they’d studied together he had to redo it at home because he spent the majority of his time trying to memorize the marks on her face and the little traits that no one else paid attention to. She was an all encompassing beauty, her appearance, personality, treatment towards people- everything about her was beautiful.
Her fingers curled into his shirt as she adjusted slightly in her sleep, his heart growing when she nuzzled closer into his neck and he felt her eyelashes brush the skin there. His fingers ran up and down her spine as she slept, unable to get up. It wasn’t a concern, despite his phone dying and nothing interesting to find on the streaming service. She was comfortable and these were the moments he had been dying for. Dreaming about.
He was completely and utterly gone for her. He’d thought that his first girlfriend would have ruined him, but when he met her in their final year of uni there was no comparison. Y/N had made him see that that relationship and his emotions in it were child’s play compared to this feeling. This need. He loved simply being with her. Especially with her asleep, peaceful and warm on top of his body. There was nowhere else he’d rather be in the world.
He felt a little flustered just thinking about how insane she made his stomach feel. The butterflies that people described felt more like a buzzing nest of bees, the soft bumblebees, the flutter of little wings and buzzing making him heat from his neck to his face. He remembered the first time she had fallen asleep on him when they were at a friends house to watch horror films. She’d claimed to be terrified and sat curled up next to him insisting they share a blanket, but halfway through The Exorcist she was puffing away sleepily against his bicep. He’d never felt so giddy over being stuck somewhere before.
There had been nights he sat in bed wondering what her lips tasted like. What she liked in her coffee. If she liked to be tickled or not. Was she someone who hated her hair being touched? Would she let him stroke it out of her face more often so he could see the full expanse of beauty it curtained? The thoughts had been endless.
It never fully went away, the awe and yearning and fondness. If anything it was growing stronger, day by day. Y/N was the love of his life in every way possible and he wouldn’t do a thing to change it.
