I got the book back in February but only just got around to finishing it (thanks a lot college 🙄), but I've been wanting to make a post hyping it up since day one lmao. It's a really fun read!! I got the paperback copy because physical books go brrr but it's also available as an ebook iirc. Gonna put my more specific thoughts under the cut to avoid spoilers

As an archaeologist in training who likes local archaeology (which in this case involves a lot of old mansions) having the final boss fight take place in one such old mansion was great. My heart goes out to the Teton Falls Historical Society here's hoping they have the money to fix the damages LMAO

I wasn't expecting Shay's ghost punch ability to actually be detrimental to her and to reality itself but that's a really fun twist on the concept of punching the shit out of your enemies. One punch man could never tbh

Seeing Duncan and Finnias switch having control over the former's body, and seeing everyone adjust to Finnias's presence, was really interesting. I'm so curious about his backstory 👁️👁️ and Archibald's and Not Taylor's for that matter...

Before reading this I saw a snippet of dialogue about Duncan and Shay (iirc) making fun of Max's name and calling them Maxi Pad and it's been stuck in my head ever since. Getting to read that kind of banter fr was 10/10 lmaooo

Mirror ghost has grown on me a lot. My brain lit up when Shay started talking back to them and it sunk in that they've got some personality and are like, an actual character yk? It feels like they're a very quiet person, just watching and waiting until they need to ~~pull someone through a mirror~~ speak up. Probably one of my favorite ghosts besides Finneas

Yay! Okay this one, I'm afraid, is a lot of emotional damage.

It's a bit of the backstory of my non-Tav OC Josephine (Josie), a Sorlock who exists about 100 yrs or so after the events of the game, and actually ends up as Raphael's chamberlain. It mostly focuses on her childhood, and up to her mid-20s.

Here's an excerpt:

There’s a strange expression on father’s face as he turns to her and says “Take your sister and go pick some flowers from the garden for your mother, eh? Maybe arrange them nicely when you’re done.” She hesitates, for she knows instinctively what this means. What he is trying to do. “Go on now, Josie.” His smile doesn’t reach his eyes. She softly nods, a wordless agreement passing between them. “Come on Tess, let’s go.” She grasps the younger girl’s hand and directs her towards the door, then down the stairs and eventually out into the garden. They spend some time gathering the prettiest blooms they can find—purple delphiniums, violets and daisies, her favourites—and then choose a vase from the shed. It takes a little time to find one that isn't cracked, and a little longer still to arrange their floral haul into a way that pleases Tess' exacting standards. By the time they return to the house, Mother is gone. The small funeral is held a few days later. After the ceremony, the girls are left alone by the graveside, and Tess laments the apparent plainness of their mother’s final resting place compared to that of a richer family. “Bones are bones, Tess, for the rich and the poor alike.” Josie chides. “We’re all the same underneath when it comes down to it.” Her sister wrinkles her nose in a half-hearted protest, and idly etches a mark into the loose earth with the toe of her boot. “Let’s go find father” she says suddenly, turning and heading for the house without waiting for a reply. Josephine lingers by the modest grave a moment longer, the dry dead leaves swirling with the wind around her feet, in a mirror to her thoughts. Autumn’s gifts have come early this year. “We all turn to dust, in the end” she mutters, the breeze stealing the words and spiriting them away. They are 38, 14 and 10, and they are alone.

i think it was late march 2024, i was busy chatting in the chai app (👀), til this ikepri ad appeared and it was...THAT fifth prince (yes i know he is yves kloss) who had the spotlight 🤭, LIKE DANG...WHY DOES HE HAVE TO BE SO PRETTY AND ATTRACTIVE TOO- like im stunned and in awe because of his beauty and he's a cutie too. a pretty haughty tsundere kitty meow meow- and then THAT ad appears a few more times when im in the middle of using that chai app roleplaying some bots 😭, then i was like 'ykw, im playing this game once just for fun' and here's where i downloaded that app (early april 2024) since i gave up ignoring it and decided to play it instead.

i was like 'dang...look at those attractive princes LIKE THEY ARE SO DANG FINE-', but before i downloaded the app, i ended up going to their wiki just to explore those 8 princes and here is where jin caught my attention...i thought he was a foreign prince but turns out he was the first prince in rhodolite like what 👁️👄👁️, he caught my eye because his name is J I N and im like 'yeah he's cool and hot asf, he's okay', it shocked me because there's a jin in here- now moving on, so i thought chevalier is the oldest...but he's actually the second prince which lead me to confusion...like huh...moving on- when i downloaded the app and before i play the prologue, i ended up going to tiktok to search about them...and it was mostly about gilbert...which i don't even get it...like what makes people so attracted about him? i don't know much about him and let's see if i liked him or not once i got to him at first. and here is where chevalier got me 🤭, THAT edit between chevalier and gilbert got me so feral eidnwkdkekdk, of course i mostly fangirl about chevalier because he's THAT attractive to me, HIS BEAUTY IS OUT OF BOUNDS EIDNEJSK. especially his smirk that got me WILDING- so i kind of kept contuing to see chevalier related tiktoks idk, HES SO DANG FINE EIDNSMSM-.

anyways, so i finally played the prologue and its interesting and going good and i was happy screaming when RIO appeared LIKE OMG HES A CUTE PATOOTIE EIDNSKSJ, but tbh im still waiting to the part ill meet those EIGHT PRINCES also it turns out sariel kidnapped me (emma) into some palace to be belle and yk the rest- i think it was the time emma became belle (i forgor 💀) , so i was still playing the route and here it comes of emma trying save the little boy from that drunk bastard man then her books fall out and omg here's the part i've been waiting for...ITS THE MAN OF MY DREAMS- LEON! OELOEKSISKSKSKEK- now this made slowly fall for him...the way he saved emma and the little boy then also picked up emma books (after chevalier threatened emma for a book), isn't he just so...dreamy? and...charming..? and i was like...'yeah he's the one, HES THE STANDARD-' and HES A LITERAL GREEN FLAG EJDJEKEKE- (HES JUST A BRO TO ME ISTG-), keep in mind that i was also simping for chevalier when he appeared in the prologue 🫣, moving on to the introduction of the princes...they are really handsome in their own ways but leon caught my attention the most...🤭, anyways- when i read each previews of all their routes (ALL 13 OF THEM), i planned to do jin first since he's the oldest but then i decided to do the routes by their released order in eng, so this got me into picking his route 😉✌🏼.

while doing leon's route, it made my liking to him increase more and more and it made me spend it with gems just for me to continue reading his route...but now...IM STILL STUCK IN HIS ROUTE LIKE IT TAKE ME DAYS TO FINISH IT EXCEPT FOR HIS EPILOGUE AND IM STILL STUCK ON HIS EPILOGUE AND I NEED MORE GEMS TO BUY 10 MORE DRAMATIC POINTS GOSH 😭, so ill keep log in to the app everyday to receive more gems little by little...i almost lost my patience there 😔, like ill be playing chevalier's route after his...also im too lazy to grind (i know you mention to get grinding in your early blogs 👀).

oh i see so you had some exposure before you actually started playing the game? i downloaded it and started playing right away so i jumped in blind and ever since the prologue- actually even during the prologue i only had my eyes on leon.

am i the only one that doesn’t buy the premium stories? i am working my way towards buying them all but i just buy the normal story and keep the avatars so i can just breeze through the avatar checks when i need to do collection events.

the reason why i was reminding everyone to grind out those diamonds is because elections are coming up. last year i ranked 3rd and i mean i was happy i ranked but i wish i did better. so this year i want to get 1st. i’m f2p so it’s probably impossible but i have to try.

also look up the right answer dialogue choices so that you can max out, get all the letters, and read the epilogue. also fyi the romantic ends are the canon endings, if that matters to you. other people have pointed out that events reference the romantic endings and stuff like that. but play whatever ending you like. i usually play everyone’s route twice to give everyone a fair chance so i don’t have a preference or recommendation on which ending you should play first for who.

and yes romarin is the meme queen. she also seems to have all the leon cg’s and stuff so yeah.

15) Oz (before Melissa) never really experienced true love. Not like he ever sought after it; he swears he’s unlovable 🙃 The closest he got to a loving relationship was with Gloria, Jenny’s mom, but nothing came out of it. Oz was convinced he couldn’t feel real, true, lasting love until he met Melissa.

Annika… doesn’t do that. She tells herself it’s disgusting, since her feelings are “abnormal” and she couldn’t see herself with a man. But you know, Park was the first woman she accepted that she had a crush on. Annika fell head over heels for her, so I guess Park was her first love. However, Annika’s herself, and there ain’t no way her feelings would be reciprocated. So no, Annika’s gonna be alone forever 💀

Abbey’s first love was Lorelai, but doing anything with her was out of the question when Abbey found her again. Lorelai was beyond fucked up by the experiments to the point where she was practically a vegetable, so that relationship was out of the question. Originally, I was thinking about her and Oz being together, but the way I developed the two was completely out of wack with each other. They interact, but it’s only transactional; they’re barely friends.

21) I’ve got two for Oz 💀

After bro went through his selection and was finally about to leave for Rangers school, he had to shave off all of his hair. The hair he’s been growing out for 4 years; it was a an inch below his shoulders. Yeah, dude wasn’t happy about it.

His mom was shaving him while dudebro was in TEARS. He was crying as he watched 4 years of progress go down the drain, the symbol of his teenage rebellion, spread out all over the floor under him. I’m not kidding when I say Oz was bawling his eyes out.

When his mom handed him the mirror, he only started crying LOUDER. The most attractive thing about him, gone. Then, his very young brother was like, “Mama, why is Ozzie bald?” which just added salt to the wound.

The other one was a month before The Incident happened. Him and his subordinates got cans of baked beans for chow, and Oz was the only person excited, as they were one of his favorite foods. Keyword: Were.

So he takes out his knife, and starts getting the top off. He pops the chain, opens it, and there was about 15 roaches crawling around in it. Oz SCREAMED, threw the can into an open field, then threw a grenade at it.

Any time one of his men would bring it up, he’d put them on lavatory duty.

For Annika, it was during her time as Bell/Diana. That one part with Krauss (think that was his name?) and her and Adler were on top of the building looking for the mf who was working with Volkov.

She made herself look like a jackass in front of Adler. Girl could NOT find him for about 10 minutes despite him being right in front of the building. (I was genuinely tweaking during this part it was so annoying 💀)

“Motherfucker. You said he was at the checkpoint, but these guys all look the same.”

“Briefcase? Like 40 of these guys have brief cases, asshole.”

Yeah that was so embarrassing for Annika 💀. Krauss was deadass right in front of her 💀 Not my proudest moment.

For Abbey, it was right after Agent Guinevere Foster (currently Director Foster of the Organized Crime Unit) officially and legally adopted her. Abbey was still trying to get the gist of social interactions and didn’t quite understand when it was inappropriate to interrupt somebody.

Agent Foster was in a very important meeting, and she had to leave a 16 year-old, fresh out of what seemed to be a cult, socially inept Abbey at her desk as the meeting was confidential. Abbey was extremely attached to the woman, and didn’t exactly understand personal boundaries with the people she loved yet.

So, Abbey barged into the room with confidential documents scattered across a desk with a pained expression on her face. She called out for Guinevere, almost in tears, in a room full of high-ranking FBI agents because she thought she broke something. The agents in the room were looking at Abbey like 🤨 cause who freaks out over that. I tell you, Abbey was clinging onto Guinevere whilst BEGGING for forgiveness infront of maybe 40 people 💀

Guinevere was almost fired for that shit, and made sure Abbey knew that.

24) Funny, Oz doesn’t sleep. He’s scared of the dark, and when he does manage to fall asleep, he has nightmares of both Vietnam and the damned Russians. He typically sleeps on whatever side has more room on the floor (if that makes sense? Like not pressed against a wall or smtg?) because the nightmares he has sometimes cause him to wake up feeling like he needs to vomit. Oz slept with a sheet on the bed and a jacket on top of him and called it a day. No pillow, and he usually curls up into fetal position. He also snores 💀

That was, until him and Melissa started sharing a bed 👀 (one of them are gonna be leaving that room pregnant and it ain’t gonna be Melissa)

Annika can fall asleep anywhere. I mean, as a kid she’d sleep in a trunk to the sounds of gunshots at least once a week and she was fine. Fine as in able to sleep, not as in being mentally sound.

Her preference though? A cold, dark, cramped space with a shit ton of blankets on top of her. Girlie either sleeps like a rock or tosses and turns all night. No in-between. Wondering where all the blankets are? On the blanket vortex, and she’s curled up under a table. Go ahead, try to take one. She won’t bite you.

Abbey needs to have her bed set up a certain way to be able to sleep soundly. She has a busted up stuffed platypus that Guinevere picked up at a flea market to help Abbey calm herself. Abbey still sleeps with it almost every night. She can’t sleep without it.

As for her bed, she lays on a soft blanket, 3 pillows, and a thin blanket covering her while she sleeps on her stomach. Her bed is not far from her desk, as she tends to do some (a lot of) paperwork before going to bed. She keeps a coffee maker with a mug she hasn’t washed in god knows how long on it.

The Picture of Dorian Gray (The Original 1980 Uncensored Edition) by Oscar Wilde

well i read a book. there were some really interesting threads in this, i thought Dorian being a narcissistic weirdo was cool to read about, but other than the end of the book taking a much darker turn, i did't find much about this impressive. i don't like reading books expecting them to work harder for me to enjoy them, but i struggled to want to read this.

Must I Go by Yiyun Li

wasn't what i expected it to be, not really a fan of what it was. you give me an 88 year old woman who's survived her eldest daughter's suicide and raised her granddaughter and is looking after her greatgrandaughter and what do we do? we spend almost 200 pages of her dissecting the journal of some random man who ended up marrying his cousin and lived his whole life not knowing he had said daughter? why. i don't care! i don't care!!!!!!! and then when Lila (the character in question) did talk about herself, her mother having her dreams crushed in her marriage, her three marriages and further 4 children, it's just brushed over and kind of shrugged at. none of the "important" men in her life are alive and yet they took up so much of the book. whatever you keep dead people alive in your memory but other than being reminded how selfish and uncaring Lila was there wasn't much about this i felt positive about. wouldn't recommend, went straight in my donation pile.

Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante

i finally did it. what a rollercoaster! i absolutely hate reading first person books when i find the character annoying. not to say a bad person, or morally defunct or anything. just plain old annoying. Elena Greco is annoying. fine in the first 2 as she's 10-22 years old and it's expected, but the third book sees her in her mid 20s early 30s and i genuinely wanted to throw this book at a wall. i struggle to see this as a tale of friendship at this point just because like. they aren't friends??? they're two women who at this point are bound by history and maybe that's the point but i want better for Lila and she remains the star of the show

The Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante

i finished the quartet and feel emotionally wrung out. this was going fine but i think it's around 350 pages in there's a full blown "relationship" between Lila's 24 year old son and Elena's 15 year old daughter???? reading from the perspective of an awful mother was so jarring, too. really enjoyed the series, i just feel like i felt very untethered towards the end and i just wanted it to end

i'm annoyed that i've ended up in such a white reading space so will be fixing that for sure. also need a romance, i haven't read one i've liked this year! something fun is overdue. i have some horror books picked out but that's not for a little while yet. i don't see myself picking up anything new (maybe?) so i'll just be picking from what i already bought, trying some contemporary reads that have been rotting on my shelf for the past year

10. what is the longest amount of time you’ve let a draft rest before you finished it?

i’ve had to check my files for this. Sweeter Days (latest fic i posted, touchstarved vn) was in the drafts from april 13th 2023 to the very end of march 2024. nearly a year.

(and i thought it was the longest, but if we count drafts i do plan on finishing, it clearly isn’t. i started writing Running From Our Ends (kuro) on february 3rd 2022. it’s not done yet. there’s also the Breaking Point (d:bh) sequel but let’s not…)

(also, i wrote Staring Contest in like a day. so yeah not all fics are created equal…)

12. a trope you’re really into right now

right now, i think i have brainrot about two tropes: temporary amnesia and one-sided feelings. but that’s mostly for reading, i don’t write that at all (well… arguably Dichotomies (bnha) was one-sided). i don’t write a lot of tropes, but recently a lot of my writing has been about the mind and the body in conflict but also being one and the same?

14. where do you get your inspiration?

depends on what we’re talking about. for original works, my brain is just a little weird and comes up with weird stuff very often. for fanfic, mostly just from aspects of the characters i want to know more about? like how i wrote Staring Contest before we got a more detailed idea of how bard worked. and for poetry, my shower thoughts are very weird!

(as for art, which is not the focus here but who cares, i enjoy mashing concepts together a lot. so when i do more complex pieces, it’s mostly just that i thought of a thing and went “make it kuro!!”)

well, The Ota Method is a mess. but it’s pretty systemised.

whenever there’s enough time for that, do a little writing session (with background music ofc) and write as much information and details as possible. most of what i write then isn’t the actual words you’ll see in the final draft. it’s things like “something about fear but no fight-or-flight, sentiment left aimless as the fight has left him already.” (this is an actual quote from the first draft of dadbastian week day 7) that indicate what ideas i have, what metaphors i want to put in, but are simplified enough so i won’t be stuck on finding the right words immediately. usually when that’s done i have a more global idea of how it’s all going to look. (sometimes, a whole passage is often reduced to a sentence, something like: “after it’s done”, which is again a real quote from the same draft)

then, i do a second writing session. sometimes it’s later on the same day, or the next day, or it can be ages later. first draft notes are put in bold so they stand out as unfinished. and then i just write. one draft note can lead to something like “— it is hard to see any fear in him in the complete absence of fight-or-flight, hard to put an adequate name on this aimless and dulled terror, and the calm facade reigning over it all. Sebastian would once have found it fascinating. He is now appalled at the lack of fight left in his young master.” (again, from dadbastian week day 7) the process is repeated as many times as needed to finish the damn thing. i usually write paragraphs about feelings first, along with everything that involves metaphors. dialogues and more descriptive parts are often done last.

when it’s all done, it’s time to proofread (ugh) which first consists in checking that i didn’t forget to write anything, removing some repetitions (and sometimes adding some), making sure transitions make sense, and asking myself “does this actually convey the right thing?” which never leads me anywhere. and then i read it again and check for typos and other mistakes.

then i sigh as i remember i have to write a summary and figure out tags for ao3, i have a heated debate against myself about the rating, i give up and just pick one, do the things, struggle with formatting for a little while, and boom. posted.

19. the most interesting topic you’ve researched for a fic

well. i don’t do historical research because i hate history (and i’m very dumb), so that’s 99% of the interesting things out of the way. most of my research is one of three things: i’m trying to understand every single way a word or phrase can be used and understood in english (or just making sure i’m remembering it right, or checking that my vocabulary choices match the typical british standard), i want to have a specific image in mind about a thing i’m writing even if i don’t describe it (this is mostly about fashion. and food, oddly enough), or i’m neck deep into psychology and psychiatry for some obscure reason (so far, for all of my writing, i’ve researched anxiety, bpd, npd, aspd, bipolar but just the diagnosis criteria, ptsd, and cptsd. don’t ask me why, it just comes up!!)

I’d say the most interesting one was… well. it’s a tie between looking up the recipes of a bunch of lemon cakes and aspd.

I've been sporadically watching episodes of bridezillas after spending 6 hrs alone with my stylist in her salon watching it together during my appt and. God. Everyone from my state/hometown area that gets on this show is.......not unusually aggro (start a fight in yeehaw town and it'll be the most annoying screaming match of your life before one or two punches decides the whole thing) but my GOD i had no idea how many people down here want a 100k wedding and expect their parents or bridal party to pay for it 👁️👁️

My mom got remarried in 2016 and I think they spent ~$300, most of that being church reservation/donation and booking a large group area at a local buffet everyone likes. She bought her dress for like $10 eight years prior and found matching shoes a couple month before the wedding for like $8 (she looked great too!). Deadass I think it took them 3 weeks to plan the wedding and finalize details. I just saw a groom-to-be get bullied into renting his fiance 3 stretch limos he couldn't afford and she's practically cartwheeling in triumph.......grooms on bridezillas..................you don't have to marry mean women

Magnolia Headcanons

Used to be a courser for the Institute, and was one of the first synths (not androids) to defect from them, taking a list of names that the Institute had replaced with synths with her

She refused to have her memory wiped, whether it was by the railroad or institute, so she changed her face and hair to look different

The one obvious thing she refused to change was her voice - she always enjoyed singing along to the radio when she was above ground

Wanting to pursue her passion was the final push she needed in leaving

She arrived in Goodneighbor since it seemed like a place where someone would ask the least questions about her past

She tells Hancock the truth about herself, and offers the document of names in exchange for him not immediately killing her. He reads the documents, recognizes a few names and tells her she can stay as long as doctor Amari can take some scans to make sure she isn’t carrying anything that could be relaying info to the Institute

And with that, she is able to live her own life

She takes the odd job for Whitechapel Charlie - waitressing for the most part, but if Hancock needs someone removed as quietly as possible, she’s the one to do it

Eventually, Whitechapel Charlie hears her sing as she’s cleaning up the bar and insists that she finish the song as best she can

He immediately hires her as a full time singer and sure enough, the bar’s profits sail through the roof

The Third Rail becomes the only jazz bar for miles around, and after her songs in Diamond City Radio’s playlist, people from all over come to hear her sing

She writes her songs and learns to compose them from an old woman who came from out of town

Magnolia’s songs truly become all hers then

She is very partial to flowers - she respects anything able to grow so beautiful in such an inhospitable place

Like all synths, she likes snack cakes

She hates any other thing sugary though, not used to such sweetness after living in the institute for so long

Her preferred method of fighting is hand to hand since it can be utilized well in a small bar like hers and hiding weapons in a dress is too much effort

that being said, she does convince Charlie to let her hide several guns throughout the bar in case there’s ever a time they’d be caught unawares

Part of the reason Hancock greets people who are new to Goodneighbor is so he can relay the information to Magnolia so she can sing “I’m The One You’re Looking For” when they get to the bar

They always get a little extra money that way

She also loathes heels, preferring comfortable boots, but Charlie’s complaining grates on her nerves enough that she complies

She gets her dresses specially made in Diamond City, even having some seasonal ones

She’s much happier singing than she ever was hunting down innocent synths for the Institute

Companions react to Sole having a Just Dance holotape, and making them dance with them.

Here it is! The promised years old ask! I wonder if this anon will actually see this... Well hope you all enjoy!!!

"Oh my gosh, look at this!" Sole's excited yell startled their companion, and when they looked over to where they were excitedly tinkering with what looked like a projector, they became more confused than anything.

Having guessed their question, Sole was happy to tell them exactly what they were so hyped about. "This was a sort of dance-along holo that was really popular before the war. I never thought I'd see this again - some of my favourite songs are in this edition."

While their companion was glad that they looked so happy, the glint in their eye as they looked back at them made them hesitant to go near. Their intuition was correct because not two seconds later and Sole was dragging them in front of a projector, rambling about how they just had to dance together.

Ada: She was aware that she was still lacking in the "human emotions" department, but she couldn't fathom why anyone would try and dance with her as she is not built for such activities, but Sole assured her it was fine. Sole followed the actual moves less to try and incorporate Ada more while she moved around as best she could. She didn't enjoy dancing per see, but spending any time with a friend was valuable time indeed. 

Cait: If Sole wasn't her friend, she would have dropped kicked them the moment they tried to drag her in front of that god-awful game, and was not shy about expressing as such to them. Sole just laughed, the bastard. "Just try it! You'll like it!" Cait glared at them. "Doubt it." Sole started picking out a song and with an obvious fake nonchalance, said, "Well if you think you're gonna lose that bad, that's all you had to say." Cait took the bait, like always, and shoved Sole's hand away from their pipboy to pick the song herself. "As if you could ever beat me in anything! There! We'll do that one." Sole tried their hardest to not laugh at her choice - it was an expert-level song. It was definitely too much for a novice like Cait, and she was soon cursing at all the fast-paced motions and the idiotic figures on the screen that seemed to be mocking her. After a few rounds, she got fed up and threw the nearest piece of debris at the screen the projector was on, effectively ending their bet. Sole was now fully laughing and Cait was a tad embarrassed. Didn't regret it though.

Codsworth: "Oh, I remember this one mum/sir!" Sole laughed as they tried to dance with their clunky companion, spinning him around when all else failed. He was more than accustomed to their antics by now, and fondly recalled the other times they had seen them dance. Many times with their departed spouse, both slow and silly dances, but all of them saturated in the love they had for each other. He noticed how often they longed for their old life and how detrimental it was to them to experience such a drastic change along with the death of their loved one, so if dancing with him for a few minutes could bring back their bright smile for even a moment, he would be happy to oblige.

Curie: Being the most inquisitive, she readily followed Sole in front of the screen. She was amazed at all of the colours and designs that the holotape held, and was even more impressed by how fluid the motions were conveyed so one could follow them easily. The pair quickly got into the rhythm of the game and had tons of fun. It was exhilarating. Usually something this physically taxing would just end up with her cursing her sweat glands, but this felt different - she was having fun. Sole eventually broke away from the choreography to grab her hands and spin them around and only when they were both winded and dizzy did they let go, causing both of them to fall to the floor, laughing. Sweating sucked, but Curie was glad that she had a synth body so she could experience all of these new, fun feelings.

Danse: "I've seen this before." That stopped Sole in their tracks and they turned to look at him incredulously. He continued, "The Brotherhood prides itself in collecting all kinds of technology, even something as insignificant as this." A cheshire grin spread across Sole's face, and he was once again plagued by a feeling to get out of there, but it was too late and he had already allowed himself to get dragged along already. They said, "Insignificant, hm? So you've never actually tried it out before?" He sputtered as they went about choosing a song they thought they'd both like. "Of- Of course I haven't! Only the scribes and squires ever have access to them." He crossed his arms indignantly. Sole just kept smiling. "Well, prepared to have that changed today!" They put on an easy song and even though he complained so much, he gave in eventually and stiffly tried to follow the movements being shown on the screen. If he was a lesser man, he would punch them for the number of times they laughed at him for being so terrible at it, but he wasn't. And he was actually starting to have fun himself. He was still horrendous at it, but Sole's joy was infectious, and he found himself not caring so much about acting professional and just focused on enjoying the dumb animations and his great company. 

Deacon: He claimed that he had never seen anything like it before, so Sole was very much looking forward to beating him in every song and watching him fumble around. Of course, pride goes before the fall, and if there's any truth to life, it's that Deacon lies with every breath. Despite having years of experience on him, they were quite literally being humiliated with how much better he was than them. He aced even the expert-level songs, much to Sole's detriment. After an hour of trying out every song in hopes that he would be sub-par at the very least to no avail, they were collapsed on the floor, both breathing heavily and smiling wide. Not even Deacon could fake a smile that wide and genuine, so Sole felt like they accomplished something after all.

Dogmeat: Dogmeat didn't really understand everything that was being said to him, but he always loved it when people were excited! While Sole did their best to follow along with the holotape, Dogmeat did his best to weave between their legs, accidentally tripping them. He checked on the fallen Sole, licking their face as an apology, and was happy to see them laughing and not hurt at all. He hoped that they would take the weird light and sound thing since it made them laugh so much.

Gage: "No." His boss almost whined trying to get him to dance with them, but he was adamant and refused over and over again, but his conscious was eating away at him. He thought he'd be relieved to see them give up, but he just couldn't take their overly depressed look as they went to eject the holotape from the projector and shoved them back in front of the screen, gruffly saying to get on with it already. Their mood immediately did a 180 - it was so fast, he wondered if they were just pretending so they could guilt-trip him... Regardless, the song had already started and he'd be damned if he didn't do his best in front of his boss. He followed along as best he could, but between his own awkwardness and his armor, he wasn't accomplishing much other than making his boss laugh. 

Hancock: He was on board right away, curious about a piece of Sole's past as well as how it worked in the first place. When it finally booted up, he blinked in surprise. He didn't expect the dance models to look like something straight out of a trip. He liked it. He didn't really follow along to the dance moves though, he just did his own thing like always. As long as they were having a good time, what did it matter anyway? 

Longfellow: Lord in heaven help him - he hasn't danced in years. He couldn't even remember a time where he just casually danced just for the hell of it, but cap'n was just too insistent and he was just too old (and soft) to refuse. He did his little old man shuffle while Sole hit nearly every beat that showed up on the screen. Honestly, it was too flashy and fast for his tastes, but if cap'n was having fun, then he'd tolerate it.

MacCready: His first thought at seeing the game was that the kids back home would love it. His second thought was that he knows for a fact that he can't dance to save his life and would really prefer to not be made fun of. He tried to backtrack and leave, but Sole had a surprisingly strong grip when they were determined, so he had no choice but to be apart of what must be a sadistic social experiment on his psyche. His flailing arms and wildly kicking legs were more dangerous than funny though, and Sole found themselves dodging him more than they were actually dancing, which is funny on its own if you thought about it. After getting kicked for the third time on the shin, they finally put an end to it, much to MacCready's relief. Unfortunately for him, they informed him that they'd be doing this more often, using the excuse that he had to get good enough to not injure his son when he played it with him. Dam-. Dang it. Using his son like that was low - he had no choice but to agree.

Piper: She was a bit apprehensive, but her inquisitiveness wouldn't let her leave without experiencing a piece of the pre-war world first-hand. Plus, Blue was very obviously looking forward to playing it, and she knows how boring games could be when done by themselves. She was pleasantly surprised to 

Preston: His stumbling around was rather cute, but Sole had to be heartless to not take pity on him eventually and help him out. To be fair, he spends most of his time fighting the good fight, but to have no sense of  rhythm at all was almost sad. He was very determined to be half-decent, but let's just say that Sole was glad to be able to take the holotape with them so he could keep trying at home. There was no way he would be able to get this in one sitting.

Strong: He didn't like the sound of it, but after Sole told him it was a sort of training to help them move smoother, he was readily on board. He was very confident that he was doing every move perfectly, and Sole didn't have the heart to tell him otherwise since he looked like he was having so much fun. He was perfect for any overhead twirls though, and while being picked up like a couple of grapes by a giant mutant would terrify them, it was fun when it was Strong who they knew respected them too much to suddenly ragdoll them into a wall. On purpose anyway.

Valentine: He humored Sole for a little while, half-heartedly keeping up with the dancing figures on the screen, just letting them have their fun. His joints were a bit too rusted to do anything complex anyway - they knew that - and it seemed like they appreciated his effort anyway, so he wasn't worried. After they got their excited bout of nostalgia out of their system, he offered to teach them some dances he remembered the original Nick doing. Those songs were much slower, akin to dances like the waltz, but Sole didn't mind the tone change, and gratefully appreciated his lead. They didn't do much of this kind of structured slow dancing with their spouse back in the day since they were both too busy to take classes on it. They weren't particularly good at it, but Valentine lead well, and they found themselves enjoying this just as much as Just Dance. Good company leads to a great time regardless of what happens it seems.

X6-88: He didn't care how much he respected Sole, he would rather die than dance along to a silly little game like that. The bright menu screen seemed to be mocking him with its headache-inducing colours splashed across like a child's failed art project. Sole was a bit dejected, but understood, so they just took it with them. The actual problem arose when they introduced the game to a few settlers and they all had a blast playing it. His eye twitched. He should be the one standing next to Sole no matter what, not some random waster who could hardly do anything worthwhile. His resolve broke rather quickly, and he marched right up to the small group and pushed everyone aside and approached Sole. They looked at him quizzically, but before they could say anything, he remarked, "For someone as good as you ma'am/sir, only the best can stand beside you." They beamed up at him and expressed how happy they were that he was joining them. He would neither confirm nor deny that their response didn't make him feel a tad warm inside, but whether it was true or not, he ignored it in the face of a new mission: Prove That He Wasn't All Talk. He watched them do enough rounds that he had a good grasp on how to move, but if he was anything less than perfect, then he had no choice but to accept that he wasn't good enough to stand beside him. His pride was on the line here, even if no one else realized it. He only cared about Sole's opinion anyway, and as they danced, he noticed that they didn't really care about any mistakes, their own or otherwise. They were having fun with just this. After a while and he had started to work up a sweat, X had to admit that they might have a point with this game being fun - the way he used all of his body to carry out complex moves while the whole ordeal was perfectly harmless was rather enjoyable. Maybe next time, he would join purely because he wanted to.

i always assumed that over the course of 1000 years, there'd be way more high summoners, but there's only a grand total of 5 including yunalesca.... there wasn't another calm after the first one for 600 years. a reward consisting of a period of time that, to the player's knowledge, doesn't last more than 10 years. 👁️👄👁️ no offense to everyone in spira, but they should have got out of that sunk cost fallacy with the final summoning much sooner

1. how do they fall asleep? wake up? any daily rituals?

omg daily rituals and routines... they have so many. they both wake up really early, like before the sun comes up. she's definitely more of a deeper sleeper than he is so actually waking up takes her a bit, and it's almost always to him kissing her shoulder or wrapping his arms around her waist to hold her – when they actually sleep they don't really cuddle cause either one of them gets hot or really uncomfortable lmao but as soon as they wake up there are smooches of course. then like they both have their showers, make the bed, have breakfast, whatever, but diana will put on very minimal makeup and do her hair all neat, also her like putting on her jewellery and perfume is a bit of a ritual in and of itself. he of course is over there styling his hair... for some reason my brain keeps going that he uses pomade, but honestly just whatever product he uses, he makes sure that's perfect. night-time is where i think there's more routines there because in the morning it's just like his days are always something different while she just heads into the lab, but at night they are both coming home to relax

i think that he actually has like another shower at night also because just likes to be clean before bed, and he doesn't wash his hair (cause he would kill it lmao) but he rinses it out, just cause i feel like he uses a water-based pomade because he would get very oughgh about oil-based one's residue getting on his pillowcase or building up in his hair. but diana has a little skincare routine going on, not like a wild 10 step one or anything, but has to take her makeup off and cleanse and moisturise and stuff, and you know... being from australia, a lot of emphasis on protecting her skin always. but yeah they sometimes read before bed too, either their own book each or sometimes she'll just lean against his side as he reads, but then it's sleep time. these are the things that kind of stay constant all the time, but obviously the time they go to bed and the amount of sleep they need changes when they're infected, because they don't need as much then

SO they weren't originally going to have any sort of big ceremony, because the idea of marriage was already kind of a weird one for them both – he had never really wanted it before waking up one day and thinking yeah i want to call her my wife, and she was very uneasy about getting married again after her last marriage – and they also just thought they wouldn't have the time with their work to plan such a thing, but they still kinda did... they actually got married in secret with just like signing it off legally with a celebrant then they exchanged their personalised vows in private, but alex actually found out and was like omg and you didn't tell me?? partly joking. but they end up actually having like technically a vow renewal ceremony(?) a few months later because alex was honestly just teasing him a bit about not going above and beyond for her, and that she deserves a proper ceremony and a dress and all that, mainly just taking playful jabs at him, but still, like she obviously didn't know why diana just didn't really care for weddings and such, even though it really was a special moment for her with him, just at the time she still had so much negative connotation with anything relating to marriage...

you know that meme from the office that's like jim holding up a ring and he says "got it a week after we started dating" cause like. yeah. not far off to be honest. like i mean we all know they were actually kind of together for over a year (and a half? and he was obsessed from her like very early on), but i mean once he finally tells her he loves her after denying it for that long he starts thinking about just asking her... they already live together, they've technically been together for so long, they have this strange connection he hasn't really felt before. and it's weird. cause he was always so sure he'd never ask someone to marry him, that it wasn't his thing... it's the "i never wanted to get married and considered it pointless, but i want it with you" for me

but okay, proposal, i mean i already screamed about this to you, but after a few months and designing a ring down to the finest details (which by the way, not a typical diamond ring), he asks her while they're out on a little date. they had gone to a restaurant near the park, then just stopped by for a night-time stroll because diana loves the woodland path. when they're heading back over the bridge at the pond, diana notices him fiddling with something in his pocket with the hand that's not holding her own but she doesn't really put much thought into it. then when she thinks they're going to leave, he pulls her over to one of the benches before she like notices him get a little nervous. like not nervous as in what you'd expect from anyone else, but he's a bit off which she can just pick up on. then he doesn't ask her to marry him. he asks if she would spend the rest of her life with him. because it's not even about getting married or a wedding, like it's a promise of just complete and utter devotion that he's felt for so long but hasn't really known how to show her in words. and they had never put a label on their relationship, even after they said they loved each other. so it's like a very big deal in a lot of ways i guess. idk i could ramble about this forever cause there's a lot of lore so i'll stop for now. that's the bare-bones of it

i still have absolutely no idea what they do for their honeymoon. they don't have one right after or even close to after they get married because neither of them really thought about it, and they were both just so busy with their work. then of course everything happens with her uh being almost killed because of suspicions of her position within umbrella... and then shortly after she's recovered from that, everything with the mansion goes down. with the idea of them getting away from umbrella and the city, like they figure they can have one then but i'm not sure when exactly... i think probably the year after, because of course work never stops with them going back to her company and him settling in there and becoming an agent then what happens with the outbreak, before him later being in h.c.f. like there's a lot going on. but i think it would be really chill, maybe her taking him back to australia just for a little visit...

33. what kind of presents do they get each other? do they only do it on special occasions?

34. do they have any pets?

so they never had any pets until after the volcano because they just never had time to look after one, and they still didn't really with my canon but it was easier given the circumstance. they get a little cerberus guy because apparently umbrella corps were able to get some of them from an outbreak with the tricell headquarters, probably for tests or the experiment. but i had the idea that one of the dogs just maybe had retained some of its intelligence more than the others, and didn't just attack on instinct. well, it did, but not with these two. when diana actually went and looked at the dogs, this one was very calm with her and actually took orders from her, then with him also, and it was to do with the viruses in them both. and just recently found out (thanks to @ossanonsen) that in the umbrella chronicles novelisations he actually has a physical link with some b.o.w.s. and can control them... so um. it works. also they don't have to worry about forgetting to feed this guy, diana can just give him some scraps of her experiments <3

It has been 8 months since I made decision that would change my life forever. On April 22nd at 11 am I had the S.M.I.L.E surgery that Dr.Melendez surgical did himself in this white machine that I laid down on. The procedure is kind a like lasik but the laser circles around the cornua of your eye and then very bubbles start reshaping the cornua and then the make a small incision on the side to gently get the scar tissue that the tiny bubbles bring out and he gets it out very gentle and then sterilize that eye and then moves on to the next eye and does the same thing. It usually takes up to 10 or 15 minutes surgery; for me it took a lot longer on my left eye because the scar tissue was sticky which has never happened before in this procedure but Dr.Melendez stayed calm and like a boss he was able to get it out it took awhile like an hour and a half but was a successfully operation and yes I was in a lot of pain afterwards because I was under the knife too long but all that pain I went through it was worth it I now have 20/20 vision no more glasses. Oh, I meant writing as in writing words. But I actually do write music as well lmao. Transposing music, to be exact. I can listen to music and then translate it for viola or violin or whatever. So it's not an original piece but I can translate things to different instruments bc I have perfect pitch and I've been in orchestra for almost 10 years
