what's fun about shipping Tim with Dick, Jason, or Damian is he has, at some point, hallucinated all of them to comfort himself. even when he doesn't like them or particularly get along with them, he has to imagine/hallucinate them just so he has the power to go on. Tim's concepts of the Robin mantle and what it should be is so fun, because he respects the others through the Robin mantle. Tim worships Dick because he was the first Robin. he wouldn't be Robin if Jason hadn't died in the mantle. and a lot of his frustration with Damian is he feels Damian isn't honoring the mantle correctly. when you ship Tim with the other Robins you can't divorce their identities as Robin from it because Tim will always see them as a Robin first and that's so fun and fucked up. like.
batman (1940) #456
Tim perceiving Dick as *Robin* cheering him on, not Nightwing, which is the version of Dick that Tim actually knows? that's just. wild of him. he will always view Dick as Robin first, his personal hero but also the original of the legacy. his love for Dick is shaped by that.
and then of course, even when he's hallucinating/imagining Jason cheering him on, it's *still* through the lense of being reminded how Jason failed? subconsciously believing that Jason got himself killed because of his actions, and that being a lesson for Tim to learn from? Jason isn't a person to Tim, he's a moral lesson about how to be Robin. any potential idolization he could have of Jason isn't because he loves Jason, it's because of the lessons Jason's death taught him.
and then, even though him hallucinating TIm is from the New-52, which makes characterization all kinds of questionable, i do think it makes sense for TIm to hallucinate/imagine Damian after Damian's death in an attempt to cope with it.
teen titans (2011) #18
to an extend, he sees Damian's death as in part his own fault. and even hating Damian, Tim needs the comfort from this to cope with Damian being gone. he's angry that Damian even was Robin, and has to learn something from Damian's death and how it impacts the Robin mantle, and teenage heroes as a whole. like, Tim can pretend he hates Damian all he wants, even getting taunted by the image of Damian, but there's still an underlying love to their relationship.
i think that's just the fun of shipping Tim with any of them. you will never divorce Tim's views of them from the Robin mantle and how fucking Unwell he is about anyone else who's been Robin before or after him, to the point he has to hallucinate them comforting him when he's at his lowest. it's always going to be a little unhealthy, a little toxic, and driven by Tim's relationship with being Robin as well. i need more Tim being weird about Robin in these ships.

Adrien is so tired of the new wave of fangirls every time he makes it to the Vogue's most eligible bachelors list. so Marinette jokingly suggests this year he should date someone while the results are being complied, thus avoiding making the list.
but Adrien thinks, dragging an unwitting girl into this and dropping her the next week would just be cruel. and Marinette thinks, as Adrien's very good friend and achingly platonic superhero partner, she should have really shut up instead of offering to help.

FIRST REAL POST ON THE PONY BLOG: A MODIFIED MAGIC SYSTEM >:D
in equestria, all magic can be traced back to 5 core elements, and 2 "super elements": light & dark magic, sky magic, earth magic, and crystal magic, alongside harmony & chaos magic.
LIGHT MAGIC, alongside DARK MAGIC, are 2 elements that hold dominion over all that falls outside of the sky. these 2 split off into fire magic, shadow magic, and (when both are harnessed via chaos magic) transformation magic. their respective pony races are kirin and batponies.
SKY MAGIC is what forms the atmosphere surrounding the planet equestria is found on, and is responsible for all weather on the planet. sky magic does not have any known submagics, but it does have one pony race; the pegasi. hippogriffs used to be a sky pony race, but their transformation into seaponies changed their sky magic into earth magic.
EARTH MAGIC is what flows through everything attached to the surface of equestria, & the earth as a whole. its most commonly-known submagics are plant magic & water magic. its main pony race is earth ponies, but you can find its magic in multiple other races(though to lesser degrees) as well.
CRYSTAL MAGIC is found in places with high concentrations of magic, typically forming crystals in the area. its used mainly to harness & contain magic in items as well as ponies; as crystal ponies show off in their magic retention abilities. it is also the only kind of magic capable of whithstanding magic-draining spells.
HARMONY MAGIC is the glue that keeps all other magics in working alongside one another. it splits off into the elements of harmony and(alongside light magic) rainbow magic. harmony magic is also necessary in the creation of alicorns, requiring one pony to accumulate a variety of different magics into themselves and also hold themselves together long enough for harmony magic to form & the transformation to take place.
if harmony magic is the glue that holds all magic in place, then CHAOS MAGIC is the solvent that breaks those bonds. when there is a lack of magic in a single place, all other magics in the area rush in to fill the void which often results in different magics clashing against eachother, forming chaos magic. when a pony gains chaos magic, they often end up lacking the abilities their race is supposed to have & sometimes gaining new ones. the "pony" race associated with chaos magic is the draconequus, a pony who contained & maintained a large amount of chaos magic on top of a variety of other magics to transform themselves into something unrecognizable. as of now, there has only ever been one succesful transformation, as its very easy for a pony to explode from the sheer pressure of that much magic in 1 body.

I know people talk about how bad tumblr's search function is but like. I can literally type a tag I know for certain I have into the search bar of my blog and it's like 'sorry lol you're crazy that's not something you've ever written <3' and then I look through a separate tag, dig through posts chronologically, and there it is. with the tag I put on it. specifically so that I could find it again easily. why

not to keep rambling about the mechanics of disco elysium’s thought cabinet, but i was thinking today about how this post came about via me trying to figure out why it seemed i was gaining xp at a much slower rate in my current run of the game (as a moralist) vs earlier runs (both times as a communist), and i had a bit of a realization
while i think having internalized kingdom of conscience instead of mazovian socio-economics (and thus not gaining that sweet sweet communist xp) is at least part of the equation, i’d forgotten about a key difference between my earlier runs and my current one-- i’d always played as an art cop before, the second time around with conceptualization as my highest or second-highest stat (i can’t remember exactly) which, after internalizing actual art degree, translates into a not-insignificant amount of bonus xp:
which leads me to an interesting fact that i hadn’t really noticed before: while most thoughts do have some mechanical effect on harry, thoughts that grant extra xp to the player are pretty rare. in fact, there’s only four of them: jamais vu (derealization), mazovian socio-economics, actual art degree, and wompty-dompty dom centre
which. okay. i’ve already talked about mazovian socio-economics in a different essay, i won’t get into that again here. jamais vu? the extra xp makes sense-- if we’re reading the acquisition of xp as a way of illustrating harry’s character growth through game mechanics, it tracks for jamais vu, a thought about harry trying to better understand the world around him and his relationship to it, to give a small amount of xp for making an effort to explore your surroundings (and also mechanically give you the opportunity to learn more information!)
but like. actual art cop and wompty-dompty dom centre? why? why those in particular?
well, imo, the reason that both of these thoughts are able to offer so much xp is the same thing that ties them to each other thematically: they’re thoughts about art.
and even though both of the thoughts are textually quite critical of the art world and the culture surrounding it (the wompty-dompty dom centre describes the art crowd as the “unholy symbiosis of esthetics and tax optimization,” and the solution to actual art degree is literally just a bunch of ways to call something mediocre lmao) the mechanical benefits to both of these thoughts indicate another underlying argument: that not only is it still worth it to engage with art, but that engaging with art and trying to (as the description for conceptualization puts it) “see Art in the world” gives harry more tools and opportunities to improve as a person
because that’s what a skill point fundamentally is, right? it’s a new opportunity for harry to grow, either by leveling up a skill or by learning something new about the world or himself (via unlocking more space in the thought cabinet). internalizing these thoughts does what good art can do-- they make the world a little bigger, and make that world a little easier to survive

[Start ID. A digital drawing of Minos Prime from Ultrakill, who's wearing a strapless slit dress and sandals of the same deep purple. He faces towards and slightly to the right of the camera, his head is tilted further right. With one hand he gestures in a vague pointing motion, his arm folded and held close to his body. There is nothing in the background, but bracing himself on one arm, Minos is implied to be leaning against something about the height of a countertop. The background is a blank purplish black, save for three diagonal stripes in the colors of the bisexual flag. End ID]
Shading study that quite literally came to me in a dream two weeks ago, after this post apparently beamed itself into my mind
(also a few edits below the cut! they're very slight but whatever :])
[Start ID. Three different versions of the previous drawing. The first changes the tone of the lighting from blue to pink, and similarly the shading from pink to blue. The second replaces the faint black border with pink, purple and blue, syncing with the stripes in the background. The third combines both these changes. End ID]
