I spent this Sunday prancing around at Elfia as Esther the faun, aka Faunley.

It was hot and very humid so I didn't get to take many pictures, but I had a wonderful time with friends regardless.

I'm hoping to be able to dress up soon and have a proper shoot in the woods🌿🦌🌱

I didn't have a big enough sheet of EVA foam or money to buy more, so I first glued together pieces that I had left. That was a mistake that left big seams across my armor.

I tried filling those up with moss, but it was in the wrong direction to make it look natural.

So instead I used my hot glue gun and wood gluesticks to make it look like sap was dripping from the seams and turned them into battle scars

I spent most of yesterday sculpting this hoof, so I could make a silicone mould out of it. I then made the box to hold the silicone and panicked because I did not have enough silicone..

I ordered probably twice as much as I need, but it's coming tomorrow so I will be able to continue this project!

I've been working on some "wooden armor" for my faun cosplay. It's my first time making wood grain and I'm pretty pleased so far.

First, I drew a rough pattern of wood grain on EVA foam that I then carved in with a craft knife. I heat sealed the foam with my heat gun to make the cells shrink and the grain stand out more. Then I grabbed my rotary tool with sandpaper barrels and added more details to make it look like wood.

Then it was time to paint. I found a brown, water based, acrylic spray paint that I used to give all the pieces a base coating. I then mixed a lighter paint and dry brushed that on, so that the brown would remain visible in the deepest details and create depth. The result was too light for my taste, so I did a wash over it with some brown watered down paint.

I didn't like that the seams were showing, despite me having covered them up in the pre paint stage. I decided to add some green paint to give it a mossy look, which first turned out to be way too bright. A second layer of green paint was much more effective and gave it a more natural look.

I have obtained some fake moss and I will attempt to make it look natural and hopefully have it all come together in the next month 💚🌱

I made these horns on stream, too impatient to use something to seal the seams. Slapped on some make up and a wig. Boom. Cosplay.

Time to reveal my true form as Faunley

I made the antlers myself with EVA foam and I'm really proud of the result.

Also I wore this cute dress because I haven't designed her outfit yet
