First Post!
Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake Spoilers
I was half asleep writing this, my words will be weirdly phrased.
Sooooo: Winter King. My brain has decided to dedicate 150% of its processing power to him when it could've been sleeping, and there's no going back now. I mean—this THING??? This Simon Petrikov who overcame the crown's madness, only to become this silly blue man? I can’t stop thinking about him.
There's just something so painfully AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA about him—he was once an Ice King(insane), and now? He's this figure who seems to have lost everything at first(thanks, Winter Wonder World song, I listen to it on repeat), but then claims to easily control it.(Common knowledge!!) I mean, it is as easy as manifesting your own reality. 🤷
Anywayssss! His kindness seems real at first, but as you dig deeper, you realize this is a man who is also hiding a dark, selfish side.(We love that in our sillies.) I mean, the dude literally yoinked the madness of the crown onto Princess Bubblegum to save himself...
I unfortunately would've done that too. Oops.
AAAAAGH- The way he interacts with Simon—another version of himself, and when Fionna gets involved? You're being silly, but suddenly, you've got everything crashing down when the crown’s stops, turning you back into a human and then into a pile of ash. (Awhh, my poor pile of ashes.)
I could talk about him for... four minutes at max, but for now, all I’ll say is: Winter King needs some therapy, just like the times we who gets too deep into useless stuff. (like, seriously, someone hug us, we need help).
Also, a two-minute doodle. The green space person, Solace, might eventually become an actual character one day.

This rant was only based off the song, background information of the character + lore. I'm still on season one of Adventure Time but watch a lot of clips.. eek.

Ferelden: Redcliffe - Present
Main quest: In Hushed Whispers
The Ferelden monarchy offered the rebel mages sanctuary in Redcliffe. The mages accepted the offer but the Templar pursued them across the border. As the brutality of the Mage-Templar War escalated, many hunted rebel mages and apostates congregated to Fiona's refuge in Redcliffe village. Some of these mage refugees were in fact Venatori infiltrators who encouraged an alliance with the Tevinter Imperium as the situation with the mage rebellion grew dire.
This post has compiled the most relevant information during the main quest for completion’s sake. Most of the time these quests have little “archaeological” value, but since I’m visually covering the majority of the game, I can’t put them aside since some of them are key in the lore, and in terms of objects, statues and ruins, such as the Temple of Mythal.
[This is part of the series “Playing DA like an archaeologist”]
When we enter Redcliffe, Solas speaks about the altered veil in this zone. I think this is the hint that the game gives us to tells us the time alteration cast by Alexius.
Redcliffe has been rebuilt as the codex Redcliffe says. It is not the same one we found in DAO, the whole configuration of the village is pretty different, but it seems to hint us that it’s the same with details such as this.
Houses in the village are decorated with several Fereldan art drawings that we talked about in Nation Art: Ferelden.
In the middle of the village we find a griffon statue which unlocks a codex called Hero of Ferelden, where part of our DAO game is reflected. This unique griffon, that I did not find in any other place of the game, rests on a table that we found already in the avvar hold of Stone-Bear, depicting skeletons under the weight of the table.
We also discover the process of crafting oculara: they are done with the skull of a tranquil possessed by a demon, and killed in that instant. The shards already exist in this world but we can’t see them because the Veil blocks them from mortal eyes. Only spirits, like Hakkon, can make a mage’s eyes able to see them [see Leather-Bound Hakkonite Journal]. Similar situation can be read in Hissing Wastes: scattered objects and ruins, in the codex A Worn Diary which implies this person is possessed already or in permanent touch with the spirits. So, the shards and the ability to see them seem to imply a particular kind of connection to the Fade, the typical connection that a mage has is not enough. In the codex Oculara, it is explained the importance of killing the tranquil in the exact moment of the possession. I cannot help but link this knowledge to the curious Grim Anatomy, a study of eyes, observation of reality, and possession.
As we walk up to the Redcliffe church, we see the place filled with alamarri archs and andrastian sculptures. Nothing out of the ordinary comes out
From the distance we can see the Redcliffe Castle
The church in this place tries to give the impression of the old church we visited in DAO, the entrance is similar but the configuration at the bottom is different. Its decoration is, of course, upgraded with mabari statues, andrastian figures in mostly Ferelden style, and stained glasses.
There is a statue of Havard carrying the ashes, Maferath crying over the sword, alamarri and Ferelden styled Andrastes, and the mysterious Faceless figure holding a crown, which reinforces again the idea that this statue is related to Andraste [and I recently considered it as a representation of The Maker].
The stained glass tells the story of the life of Andraste. When I saw at this, I realised the similarities of the second stained glass with the Faceless figure holding a crown, concluding that it may be the Maker himself, since in the stained glass he is represented with a mantle, no face, and a crown of similar shape to the statue.
As we explore the village we are informed how curiously timely Tevinters were when the mages needed them most, hinting us again that Alexius may have used his time magic for this.
There is a curious exchange of words that have no much impact in the moment, but, in retrospection, I think they carry implied meaning and almost a foreshadowing of Solas’ actions.
Dorian introduces to us the existence of time travel magic, to what the Inquisitor claims that Dalish could have used it for themselves if it truly existed. Solas says something that may imply impossibility, but as a character that by the end of the game wants to restore a past time, I wonder to what extent returning to "his” past is possible by using time-magic.
Anyways, we learn here that Dorian developed this magic as well. So far, we had seen rift magic to delay passage of time, such as Ameridan’s magic, the magic of the rifts preserving objects and ruins in Jaws of Hakkon, or Tevinter’s Still Ruin. So far, we had never seen before a time travel magic.
We are also introduced to Venatori as Tevinter supremacists.
Redcliffe castle
We get an invitation of Alexius to go to the Castle. Inside, we see some cinematic to appreciate the design of one of the Tevinter warriors. The angular and pointy design with the presence of claws, so iconic in Tevinter buildings, is obvious in the outfit as well.
At the side of the thone we see two statues of aggressive mabaris we didn’t see in the game before: they have swirls and a red kaddis that looks like a vein. I’m not saying it’s a red lyrium representation, but it’s curious that its design is like a branch or vein, and sometimes there are some points along those lines, similar to Fenris’ tattoo.
Alexius speaks of the Elder One and undoes the “mistake of the Temple of Ashes”, meaning to get rid of the inquisitor. For that, he sends them to the future.
The time magic has similar coloration to the Fade-related elements.

if you don't mind i would love to hear about Mayari!! what's her story? and she's an inquisitor right? who are her friends in the inquisition??
I don't mind at all ^_^ ty!
She's technically an NPC in the story for my Trev, Gabe! But I am planning on making her in DAI and doing a run because I just love playing the game djdjdj
I have two ideas for a backstory but this is the one I'm going with for the moment:
Her inquisitor run and her Canon backstory is p much the same. Her family comes from Seheron and she is the eldest of three. They had a fishing business at a Port city (hence her surname Tabingdagat which means "by the sea" in Tagalog). A Tevinter attack destroyed that section of the port and they lost everything. So her family immigrated to Ostwick to start over. Mayari was about 8.
However, there was too much competition with already established businesses so her family struggled and food was scarce. Mayari is a mage so she got caught doing magic in the market district and someone called the Templars. Her parents urged her to go with them because they were under the belief that at least she would have shelter and be fed. This hurt Mayari - but she went. Her family promised to keep in contact, but most commoners lose contact with their family in the Circle, so unfortunately she did too.
Mayari accepted her fate. She didn't like being in the Circle, but since the age of 9 it's all she ever knew. Her magic was mediocre and she barely passed her Harrowing. So she focused on alchemy and herbology instead. However she did make very good friends: Magda Otranto, Gabe Trevelyan and Langdon. You can read about them here!
In her Canon worldstate, after the Circles fell, she and her friends get separated from Gabe when they escaped. They ended up in Redcliffe with Fiona and got caught up with Alexius. They end up joining the Inquisition when Gabe sides with the mages.
In her inquisitor run, she and her friends make it to Ferelden with Gabe. Langdon is hurt by one of the Blighted wolves so they take shelter in an abandoned cabin near Temple of Sacred Ashes. Mayari and Magda go look for help, but they get separated. Mayari ends up at the Temple and we all know what happens there. Her friends remain safe because they were far from the blast, including Magda. And ofc they immediately join the Inquisition when she becomes the Herald. I just ended up loving their friendship so I couldn't have them die 😭 haha.
As for her friends outside her circle buds, in canon she and Langdon are buddies with Adan because they ended up all working together. She also befriends Dagna and the Singquisition. Idk yet about the inner circle, I'm gonna see how it goes down when I do her playthrough ^_^
This was long but I hope you liked this piece of ~lore lol
#mayari tabingdagat#yes she kisses cullen i cannot help myself lol jdjdjdjd#shes a revamp of an oc maria that i was already doing the cullen route with#and i enjoy this revamp a lot more!!#and like her name now more#which i may have taken from a scrapped oc but shhh#magdalena otranto#gabriel trevelyan#langdon

Witch’s Heart Final Thoughts
Hellooo! It’s been a bit! I figured I’d go ahead and post that big ol’ thoughts and rambles post before I went ahead and started the Bonus Stage. I’ll probably be doing some similarly styled things in the future... anyways, I hope you’ve all been doing well, and don’t mind the long post!
CHARACTERS
Claire: Oh my god. I would give my life for Claire in a heartbeat. I was honestly expecting to not care for her much, not that RPG maker games don’t have plenty of female protagonists I like but they’re almost exclusively children. On the adult side of things, not so much. I was expecting a mostly silent audience insert at best and an annoying, shallowly written protagonist at worst. Thankfully I was 100% wrong and ended up absolutely loving her and rooting for her all the way. I probably said at some point but she reminds me of Hiyoko Tohsaka, the protagonist from Hatoful Boyfriend... yes, the bird dating simulator, don’t even get me started. Maybe a little bit like Emma from The Promised Neverland, too. Pure of heart, dumb of ass female characters that could beat the shit out of anyone AND are incredibly compassionate and enjoyable to watch are just too damn rare. The ways in which she interacted with the other mains felt completely organic and I was never skeptical as to why she was spending time with them, which is something I tend to take issue with in games with a scenario/route structure. On the flip side, the reactions the mains had to her were completely understandable- as far as they were meant to be, anyway- and I found myself at least somewhat identifying with their thoughts on her. Like Leon, I too am in love with Claire.
Ashe: Oh Ashe. Fuck Ashe. In terms of livening up any situation he’s in, for better or for worse, he’s an absolutely perfect abomination of nature. Every time he enters a scene I either laugh or am filled with pure, unfiltered rage, which I guess is a good sign. He’s definitely an excellent wild card that makes the experience better no matter what way you look at it. However.... in hindsight I think he might actually be the character we understand the least at this point, despite being the first person you meet and the first to get a scenario (if you play it in the order I did, anyway). Even Wiwardo, who’s silent 90% of the damn time, does have a pretty clear motivation. It seems likely that Ashe’s wish is to bring back his family, but not only do we not know anything about them or how they died, we also don’t have any context as to how Ashe became the sort of person he did. So it’s hard to really have a full grasp on him... I appreciate his character for what it is, but I’m not quite as enthusiastic about him as I am some of the others... yet.
Reynaldo: Reynaldo makes me want to start throwing things, in a good thing. I didn’t liveblog the beginning of the game, but I distinctly remember telling my friends he was my favorite initially- the bizarre name, the gun sprite that inexplicably makes me laugh, seems like just a sexi guy. I adore the reveal of what the curse/his wish was, and I think despite not knowing much about the particulars yet it says enough about why he is the way he is that it works perfectly even without the missing information. He’s a fascinating character and has a TON of the best moments in the game, for me personally anyway. My one major complaint would just be like... c’mon, I know he’s the stoic type but I would’ve liked just a liiiiittle bit more reaction from him in some of the bigger scenes, such as when Claire confronted Invective. Also I hate him and I’m gonna beat him up
Sirius: Baby boy. Baby. I want to hold his hand. He’s the character that I think is the easiest to understand at this point in the game, as his cards are almost all on the table. We’ve seen snippets of his childhood, gotten him to reveal pretty much all his thoughts and relevant knowledge to Claire, we’ve literally seen him go to hell, all the good stuff. Male tsunderes, at least ones that are still generally nice people like Sirius, are sooort of my weakness. There’s not a lot to say about him that I haven’t already said but he deserves the world.
Leon: BABY BOY. BABY. Okay, granted, I don’t... really care about Leon that much. Don’t get me wrong, I love him and nothing bad should ever happen to him ever again. But since he didn’t really get to be present in the other’s scenarios, I don’t feel as connected to him as I do the others. BUT with that said, now that the ball has finally dropped and his whole deal isn’t a secret anymore, at least not entirely, I’m hopeful that him not being around enough’ll be rectified by the bonus stage and final endings. He’s never done anything wrong in his entire life.
Charlotte: Charlotte’s in a weird place for me where I’m intrigued but not quite into her yet. I feel like we’ve only really scratched the surface, so I’m interested to see where she goes from here. She got so many interesting scenes like the one with Noel, Fiona, and Lime in her backstory that REALLY hit the mark for me.
Zizel: Not a lot to say about Zizel, just that her interactions with Claire were absolutely adorable no matter how morbid the context. Love her.
Lime: Lime.... oh boy. I have some. Emotions. About Lime. She definitely seemed like the most one-note out of the demons when she first appeared, just sort of a cutesy masochist anime girl, but wow. I love her relationship with Charlotte and her fascination with Leon is really interesting. I kind of hope going forward that she develops more of a relationship with Claire? I dunno, feels like there’s just some untapped potential there, with Claire being as empathetic as she is and Lime being... as confused about emotions as she is.
Rouge: Again, not a ton to say about her, but her relationship with Leon ended up being way more interesting and heart-wrenching than I expected despite how little we saw of it. I appreciate that she really does care.
Overall & Final Score The characters were fucking fantastic. My only complaint is that I haven’t seen enough of them yet. 9/10
STORY
Ashe’s Route: My least favorite route, I think, though that’s not to say I didn’t enjoy it. It does have the advantage of being completely new (if you played it first like I did) and Claire and Ashe’s relationship was so fucking cute and entertaining to watch. It does really feel like an introductory route though- it was mostly setup, which isn’t bad. Just not as gripping as the other routes. And the ending is... a little anticlimactic, considering you can see Ashe’s murderous tendencies coming a mile away. But there’s nothing in particular I think I would change, solid but not incredible.
Wiwardo’s Route: My second favorite route, which... I have a feeling will be an unpopular opinion. I dunno, I just really enjoyed it from start to finish. The partner swapping was hilarious and did a lot to flesh out the dynamics between the characters, Invective was really fun and fleshed out Claire’s personality as well as a lot of demon lore, and I think Reynaldo’s conclusion might be my favorite in the whole game. I was really questioning where any of it was going towards the end, it definitely had me on the edge of my seat. The main complaint I have about it though is that we... don’t actually see that much of Reynaldo. Like, at all. I mean, he’s THERE, but as I mentioned prior he doesn’t... react to much. Of course he doesn’t need to be overly emotional, that’s just not in his nature, but a few more moments where he actually had any sort of stake in what was going on might’ve been nice. The majority of the scenes he’s in prior to the boss battle hardly get any dialogue out of him at all. But like I said, the ending really made it worth it. Fighting Ashe was probably THE most cathartic boss battle in the game and the realization about what Reynaldo was going to do moments before it happened gave me chills.
Sirius’s Route: My favorite! Love my boy!! God Sirius’s route was incredible. Definitely the one that was the most consistently gripping. Exploring hell was such a cool way to make the route continue after Claire’s death and Sirius’s character development was top notch. It really felt like we were finally getting some answers, too, which was satisfying. I will say, despite being my favorite, it probably has the weakest actual conclusion. Like, the confrontation with the monster made me Feel Things, but since we don’t actually know who or what it is there’s not really as much weight as the other routes that end with Claire’s death. Still, the juicy plot revelations and character development more than made up for it.
Leon’s Route: It may not be one of my favorites but this shit fucked me up. Definitely elicited the most tears, the whole goddamn thing’s miserable. Leon’s route feels slightly lacking in the charm department for me, which probably sounds weird but... I guess it’s cause the whole thing is so laser focused on Claire. Like, obviously Leon is primarily concerned with her, so it feels like there’s less emotional or interesting moments with everyone else and the ones that ARE there aren’t as impactful as they could be since, y’know, he’s really only here for her. But that’s mostly just a personal preference and since that was the whole point I can’t really complain. Leon’s relationship with Claire was wonderfully executed and I really appreciate this poor boy.
Torch Backstories: Like. They didn’t HAVE to add all this stuff in but they sure did and wow does it pack a punch. I was always super excited to see the next one after finishing a scenario. I do wish we had a little more variety instead of half of them being Lime though, as much as I adore her character.
Overall & Final Score My only real issue with the story is, again, I haven’t seen enough of it yet, and that it sliiightly dragged in some places. Plus there were some small elements I took issue with, like the use of the ??? character, but nothing major. 9/10
GAMEPLAY
Fighting: No major complaints with the fighting mechanics, it was actually a really nice change of pace since most RPG maker games I’ve played don’t have battles. I do wish Leon had something a little different to set him apart from Claire, since he essentially has the exact same fighting style, albeit with a knife this time.
Demon Requests: This was a mixed bag. I liked the concept, especially how it wraps in a little bit of lore and everything. But some of the requests, like the ones that involved fishing, were just tedious. I probably would’ve preferred if demon requests were either just a liiiiittle less frequent or had more lore sprinkled in to keep me interested.
Scenario Mechanics & New Items: The whole idea of the scenarios is... good, but not flawless. I think giving the option of doing Reynaldo’s scenario first probably wouldn’t work very well and giving the illusion of choice only for it to just be which of the two you play first is a little redundant. But that aside, I really love the way they’re strung together with the hell room and all the things you can do there. Setting up a routine in this kind of game was a really good idea. I also looooved the new items you get each scenario, the lighter doesn’t do much but the wand and broom really feel like they broaden your horizons.
Gift Giving & Minigames: Not super into the affection system to be honest. Like, the plushies are super cute, but the gifts and minigames feel pointless and tedious. I would’ve liked if there was some sort of scene, or even multiple, per character that you get when you max their affection, you know? Obviously this is a small complaint considering the absurd amount of content in the game but I was a little disappointed by how underwhelming the gift giving was.
Other Puzzles I didn’t take issue with any particular puzzle, they were all reasonably easy and fun to do. I really enjoyed the majority of them and if I didn’t they were either over quickly or optional, such as Ashe’s damn slider puzzle.
Overall, Final Score The gameplay isn’t anything crazy, but it does what it’s meant to do. 6/10
ART & SOUND
Character Design: I don’t have a ton to say about the designs, I think they’re all really effective and well thought out, especially for the demons. No two characters look too similar despite the simplistic art style making it very easy for that to happen, and I thoroughly enjoy everyone’s outfits.
Sprites and BGs: There are a few wonky sprites here and there but for an RPG maker game I was pleasantly surprised by their overall quality. And ability to make me feel things. And quantity! Like damn, there’s so many sprites for each character, I never feel like I’m seeing too much of the same one.
OST and Sound Effects: I know none of the songs were composed for the game itself, which is common in these sorts of games, but the selection was excellent regardless. I still listen to the soundtrack a lot just for fun. The sound effects are really cute too, no complaints there either.
Overall, Final Score It’s crude at times, but the art and music is perfect for what it wants to be and elicits a hell of a lot of emotion. 7/10
I adore this game and I can’t WAIT to start Bonus Stage!

Hello! This is a question for the muse! Do you have any tips on creating an identity v oc?
This is a huge honor as I am considered to be the craziest person for creating ocs (according to Ems), so please allow me to introduce to the workshop-
Creating a IDV OC is quite difficult as you don't want them to come off as a Mary/Gary Sue without weaknesses, but you also want to make sure they sparkle in their most unique way! Brainstorming is one way to not overstress over the creation of an OC because you can always go back to it and make changes when needed. Here's an example~
These two ladies are from my other blog, @idv-ask-fragmentsofhappiness , and as you can see, there are little notes next to their first designs. These notes were made after I decided on their item, and little notations helped me with their buffs and debuffs! For example, Hala is going to carry presents of importance 24/7 and she needs to be careful with them so she vaults slower. Shiroi, on the other hand, vaults slower because she isn't used to being active on the whim.

Don't forget to brainstorm occupations that can affect the oc's personalities! Round 2 of examples~
@askidv-thelovers @stitchedstatic @idv-missionary @suns-wack-idv-ocs @ask-themaid-idv @idvthepatient
Belle is a wonderful example of personality as before she was playing her lovely viola/violin, she was our fabulous Barmaiden. She was an alcoholic with withdrawal probelms, but when it was announced that Demi was going to be the Barmaid, Belle transformed into an amazing violinist and though she is still somewhat an alcoholic, she is now recovering. Beautiful transition and storytelling - please, I need more lore Dal XD ♡
Another great example is Static's infamous chaotic duo, the Broadcaster and the Surgeon. Both tread the same story, but on opposite islands you can say. Alec is a well known broadcaster by his name "Alex" instead of his real name and fell in love with a hardworking woman striving to become a surgeon. Marriage seemed to be the icing on the cake, but then it was cut and shown to be poisonous. Nikola started to "fix" her patients in a series of numbering operations, and nearly succeeded when her husband told the world about her "kindness." Feeling betrayed, she carved the number 9 on Alec and hopes to fix him with Patient 08 someday. Okay, this is probably a terrible summary but the story is really intriguing and displays a lot of thought put into it. While sometimes information is shared behind the curtains, it is still seen that each side has their reasons and personal baggage for what they did. I would like to smite the bad people in their lives, pls *holds butterknife*
Okay, this one is a personal favorite and I won't spoil his story just yet because I want to respect his creator, the loveable Fluff. His story circles around the topic of religion and as seen by a few asks, it appears that Oliver does not get along with Fiona (and Eli - I might have to read it again dhdhd). With the addition of Ash (I will personally make him suffer), I just feel like the story is getting even more lullling in my opinion. The overall design and personality fit together like a PB and J sandwich! ♡
There are many ocs here, but each one has my personal love for them. Not only do they have wonderful stories (again, not spoiling them) and amazing personalities, but the fact that interactions with them could be fun or interesting (not saying that other ask blogs can't do this, interacting with Sun just has me giggling and wheezing 24/7)
I have so many words, but I don't know how to say them so I'll just say this. Extraordinary. The design wise of the Maid is just *blows a kiss into the air* a rose, and her personality is just something I resonate with a little bit. Her story is a wondrous journey (im uh,,, still trying to catch up dhdhdhs) and I really suggest checking this person out. The mun has an amazing story right now and it would be better if you checked her out because I can't put this love into words.
This is another piece of advice that I carried with me along the way, and I hope it helps you as you design an OC. Get Feedback. I know that there are times where you share your oc in their early drafts and ask for feedback, only to receive comments such as "they're so bad, why are you even trying" or "this is garbage, delete this". I can't tell you it won't happen as it did commence for me, but this is a little trick I have for getting past that. Knowing which opinions actually helps and being surrounded by people who want to help you. This is an important part of designing a IDV OC because you want them to fit in the universe and feel great about them! Surrounding yourself with people who lift you up to that goal is one sometimes many souls forget. And the feedback of others should be helpful critiques, not plain out hate comments! Here's an example
Good Critique vs Hateful "Critiques"
Good Critque Example : luckyninibirb - "I like how she's fleshed out to be a supporter, but I feel like one of her traits is overpowered due to the fact that she can pretty dodge the hunter at any time."
Hateful "Critique" Example: luckyninibirb - "She's such a mary sue! Are you even trying to make a good oc? Or is this just a joke?"
Oh! It's okay if your character has personal flaws and their backstory is simple or complex. It'll just make them sparkle out more actually! This is pretty much all I have to give right now. You're welcome to come in my DMs if you need anything, and don't feel scared to ask the other ask blogs for help! Thanks for asking! ♡

⟢ Chapter 1
If to look upon the fae is to feel the presence of angels, then gazing upon descendants of Cadwgan Hywel of Aurelia is to be engulfed by the beauty and rage of gods. For as legend tells, in the ancient city of Aurelia, dragons flew the skies, hydra lurked the deep waters, and gods lived among the fae—breeding with those few deemed worthy of such honor. And with it, bestowing unique gifts. Thus came Cadwgan the Shifter; a miracle, an abomination; a figment of lore, a harbinger of destruction. An usurper who laid claim as emperor after battle and bloodshed. The stories bent and curled depending on whose mouth the words spilt from. Some 8,000 years after his birth and generations later, an heir awoke in the palace to skin dripping with sweat and a mind numb with visions of doom. Fynola the Seer; prophet, voyager, matriarch. For months, the nightmares plagued her. Aurelia in flames; the fae screaming to the skies for aid, only for the gods to laugh at them. Punishment for their centuries of greed. She implored the fae to listen, to flee, to journey into the great unknown before all the splendor around them succumbed to chaos. Her pleas were met only with disbelief. The stronghold of Aurelia stood for millennia and far more to come; the fae sneered. Fynola the Lunatic, they taunted. Haunted and terrified, she soon sailed into the horizon, never to see her beloved Aurelia again. Some thousand years passed before she claimed a rocky island among deep waters as home. A place that other fae, hailing from lands far and wide, came to inhabit as well. They heard the lore of Aurelia; how gods punished their greed and gluttony and took back their gifts. How the fae perished as the city turned to ash. It was merely stories, these fae purred; a terrible and frightening lesson told among mead and bonfires beneath dusty, night skies. Fynola understood; some secrets were too precious and must be carefully locked away. Fynola folded into a new chapter of life, a new identity altogether. Fiona Powell; a founding fae of Obsidian, with a vault filled with enough ethereum to last millennia to come.
⟢ Chapter 2
Fiona’s roots spread like ivy. First came Evann, the eldest of Fiona’s seven children; blessed with a silver tongue and mind for business. He cleverly formed a union with another founding fae family, which made their pockets deeper and power stronger. Then came Leith and his brother Lionel. The eldest, Leith, born silent and curious—and aged in a similar fashion. He occupied his time with art, poetry, and countless lovers. The only of Fiona’s descendants to receive a gift despite their diluted blood: ivory wings dipped in gold that sprung from his back. Instruments that afforded him the privilege to fly far beyond Old Elysia, and yet he spent much of his life with them hidden away, tucked into expertly tailored suits. Far too occupied with discussing philosophy, collecting art, and cursing his own immortality. Leith was no warlord nor leader. The old gods chose wrong. It was no matter. Lionel, a bold and fiery fae, fit the bill. A near carbon copy of his father, in all great and terrible ways. He was to inherit the ancestral seat, to see that the Powell name lasted for millennia to come, and Leith happily stepped aside. For nearly four hundred years, the brothers flourished on their own paths. Leith’s quiet, cerebral interests, which painted him as an enigmatic odd duck, foiled his brother’s aggressive confidence and decisive, oftentimes bullish decisions. Lionel threw his weight around, striking dangerous and risky deals with all manner of beats that inhabited Obsidian, banking on his own immortality—until one day that was stripped from him. In the year 1963 A.E., the Redcaps finally had enough. The redcaps captured Lionel and, by unlucky accident, Fiona as well—ancient as she was. The Redcaps tortured the pair heinously, setting an egregiously high ransom that Evann paid in full, only to burn them at a stake of white elm anyway. They spat on the ashes with glee, declaring an even trade with the Powells. Leith mourned. For his brother, despite his faults. For his grandmother, whose heritage he long ignored and now solely carried within the wings affixed to his back. For the expectations now thrust upon him. It hardly took much time for Leith to vanish into the shadows.
⟢ Chapter 3
Some say the Powell heir locked himself in his study at the family home in Old Elysia for decades. Others swore they saw him disguised as a mortal, living among the seedy underbelly of Obsidian City. Only one fact is certain: that sometime around the year 2012 A.E., Leith emerged into the world once more. This time, fingers intertwined with a human. A mortal. Xander. How foolish it was to love something death would inevitably steal, said the fae between laughter. Leith didn’t care. He adored. For the first time in his long existence, he found purpose. True meaning. He would rip the wings from his back if it meant sparing Xander from harm. As the short years collapsed into one another, Xander’s precious immortality became unavoidable. A risk, especially given Leith’s ancestral birthright. A problem to solve. Some say Leith struck a deal with a vampire to turn Xander immortal; that despite the species being at odds, the two could then have eternity together. Others believe the Recaps returned, wanting to serve Leith the same fate as his brother, but found the lover instead. A few speculated that Xander refused immortality, deeming it unnatural, and Leith—in a fit of rage—murdered him. Or, perhaps, the simplest answer rang true: that the pair fell out of love, and Xander left Obsidian for a life somewhere far, far away.
⟢ Chapter 4
The rumors haunted Leith in the years following Xander’s disappearance. Whispers, laughs, pitiful glances. Everyone seemed to have an opinion, a theory of the events that transpired. But the truth, like Leith’s ancestry, was too precious for the world to know. Leith remained quiet and detached, as usual. Veins always pumped with ethereum to avoid spilling any truths. In the early months of 2022 A.E., however, his detached nature sprung from necessity rather than the comfortable, enigmatic armour he knew all too well for nearly five hundred years. A moonlit journey to the Library of Elysia revealed a curious story etched in ink, some thousands of years old, hailing from a land far beyond Obsidian and even the ruins of Aurelia. Pages missing but the tale read clear: a lover who returned, the bond too strong for even death to part them. Magic or fiction? Leith desperately sought to believe the former. It’s merely lore, the fae would likely sneer if they knew; a fool’s mission, but desperation clouded logic. Leith tucked the book into the folds of his coat and fled, heart racing as wings carried him into the chilly midnight sky. Perhaps the book would lead to nothing but more heartbreak, centuries of torturous misery. It hardly mattered. Leith persisted; clues leading him far and wide, hunting for the missing pages no matter the cost. Even if it meant diving into the deep waters surrounding the city, or cutting deep through the brush and bramble of Carynthia. There was no obstacle Leith Powell would not meet.

sweating in this taking a full day . anyway !!
I think that Sirius repressed his memories of his birth parents because of how awful their deaths were. From a doyalist perspective they're never spoken about because they aren't important to the story being told and there's not really a moment Sirius would talk about them. From a watsonian perspective, there's the repression as mentioned above and the fact that he got surprise adopted by Dorothy at the scene of his parents gruesome execution. He was pulled from one of the worst moments of his life into safety (he likely had nowhere to go; if he did, he would have said so to Dorothy, or his caretaker would have (reasonably) forbidden him from seeing the execution) as without her he would have been left with the ghosts of his family at his home, or even killed himself by Nicholas.
Perhaps he would have stopped repressing his memories if Claire didn't arrive, putting him on guard and putting his walls up, or maybe if Dorothy wasn't also dealing with her own trauma of her daughters death, she would have been able to help him more. But Dorothy dying in front of him as well to protect him, watching an eye monster come from nowhere to eat her body, and likely sitting shell shocked in a room filled with the blood and guts and smell of a dozen dead people would have forced him to repress the 'less relevant' trauma to avoid risk of mental breakage.
I am NO doctor and I haven't researched this stuff so this isn't scientific analysis, it's character analysis and guesswork.
I AGREE WITH WANTING FIONA CONTENT.... Honestly I want to know why her husband wasn't able to take Claire. For a second I thought he was the soldier who tried to shoot Nicholas (Bonus Stage, Sirius backstory) but I discarded that as a much better use of his time would be to. Take care of his daughter.
Considering Dorothy and her husband were divorced (I think it's canon, could be wrong) that means that divorce is a concept in this world (you laugh but a lot of media ignores the concept of divorce) and they could potentially have divorced. Hopefully he moved out of town or else he's still a dick for not taking Claire. Or he could have died earlier.
Honestly, I need more information on every member of the Elford line. I need Dorothy conclusion: we learn everyone's favorite foods. I need to know why Susie made the contract. If we never learn that I'll be so upset. I need to know if Fiona is single and if I can hit on her because. Ma'am. Not a pressing need but I do wonder what would happen if someone had two children; would they both get the Witch's Heart, or only the eldest?
WE DEFINITELY NEED PATRICIA CONTENT. Kind and empathetic to a fault dead mom is serviceable but I want to know more... I want to know if Noel is wearing rose tinted glasses or if she's genuinely an angel who married Nicholas for some reason. Nicholas pre-suicide is also desired but honestly he's been framed so far as the only completely unsympathetic person in the story, so I'm fine if we don't get much. By unsympathetic I mean 'no tragic backstory'; Lime is an unsympathetic villain because of how much damage she causes, but her backstory explains everything about her and she's a tragic villain. okay anyway. I will say that it's understandable how Ashe wouldn't recognize his mother's favorite singers child because that's a lot of layers of separation. I agree with everything else though, pre-suicide Noel backstory would be wonderful.
What I need most from Noel conclusion is
Unapologetically happy ending (Noel gets out of the mansion and gets to exist in the surface world and will die at a natural time, there's a romantic ending (I'm fine if it's a multiple endings thing) where Noelclaire confesses and they kiss, Claire finds out that noel was Patricia, Sirius is able to start moving past his trauma, etc etc)
Elford family lore, specifically Susie. If we never find out why Susie made the contract she's becoming a Blorbo and I WILL be insane about it.
General world-building. I have an OC and while by the time Noel conclusion is out I'll (hopefully) be done writing her stuff, just knowing more about the world they live in would be lovely.
I don't NEED it need it but Lime finally realizing that everyone's trauma is different and comparison is useless would be nice.
I probably have more to add but my stomach is eating itself alive so I'm gonna go have a snack. In summary, Sirius conclusion didn't give me as much Elford backstory as I thought it would so Noel conclusion is going to need to pull a lot of weight. Also I'm a Claire Conclusion truther. My phone was on 11-10-9-8% while I typed this up on my computer which was bad because I used it to reference your post LOL
im so curious about claire noel and sirius b ackstory ebcause i feel like theres still so many unanswered questions i ahve in my mind..

Orlais: Val Royeaux
Main Quest: The Threat Remains
Val Royeaux is not only the secular capital of Orlais, but also the capital of the Chantry, the seat of the Divine is located at the Grand Cathedral of Val Royeaux. It lies on the northern coast of the far inland tip of the Waking Sea. It is one of the largest cities in Thedas.
This post has compiled the most relevant information during the main quest for completion’s sake. Most of the time these quests have little “archaeological” value, but since I’m visually covering most of the game, I can’t put them aside since some of them are key in the lore and in terms of objects, statues and ruins, such as the Temple of Mythal.
[This is part of the series “Playing DA like an archaeologist”]
The Inquisitor heads to Val Royeaux to look for help to the Templars who put in doubt the “divine” nature of the Herald. With the exception of one of them, Templars dismiss the inquisition. I’m not going to explain in details the main quest, just highlight the important lore-wise bits and explore the objects, statues and architecture worth checking in them.
In this case, the extremely intricate design of Val Royeaux makes impossible for me to cover every detail, but in general we can say that in the entrance, we have a series of Andrastian statues that we can consider orlesian sculptures. They are the same ones that we found in the rebuilt Imperial Highway of Emprise du Lion: Pools of the Sun. We find all the characters of Andraste’s tale: Havard carrying the ashes, Andraste, and maferath.
The merchants inside their stores have a lot of orlesians assets and strange objects such as Tevinter golems, or grey warden banners. Probably mere reuse of these elements to increase this Orlesian sense of excess in everything.
Some objects are a bit weird to be in stores, such as elven artefacts to strengthen the Veil. But it makes sense, it’s mere reuse of objects.
The central plaza has typical orlesian elements that nobody question and have little mystery: golden lions which represent the Valmont family.
An interesting thing for me to highlight is the architecture of Orlais: although it’s excessive and flamboyant, it always has a bit of elven inspiration. Their door frames are very similar in design to the ones we find in elven ruins, decorated even with patterns around it [not the same ones]. Of course, the excess of Orlais proper can be seen in those golden arabesques that protrude from the sides. It’s interesting to see how Orlesian art is inspired on Elvhen art, but it makes sense, before the Exalted March, humans and elves living in Orlais had a deeper relationship to the point that many codices imply that there were many elf-blooded humans around [offspring between humans and elves].
If something characterises Orlesian art is their constant repetition of Andraste or Andraste’s face in a more elaborated fashion than the Fereldan depiction of her.
Another iconic object in the Orlesian Culture are the fountains. In here, we find a simple one with a lion head spilling water.
In the corridor that goes to the docks, we find a section where a lot of papers and signs are placed. We have seen these in many other places as regular assets, such as Crestwood.
In the dock, we see small boats with orlesian designs: always depicting the Orlesian version of Andraste [after all Orlais is the capital of the Chantry, where it concentrates its power and The Divine]. The objects are all accompanied with arabesques and intricate design.
From the distance, we can see the figures of Andraste welcoming the boats.
The capital is filled with banners and signs. We find the De Montfort Symbol banner and some fereldan banners as well beside the Orlesian one.
By the end, Fiona invites us to go to Redcliffe and Leliana informs us in Skyhold that the Grey Warden have gone silent.

Sometimes it's better not to ask, to keep the secrets locked away. But some stories are better told, shared with all the world. Or: backstories and lore for YDYD 3.
