“The problem with your best friend dying is that there’s no one to sit with you at funerals.” 🖤 🔥 🖤 The only thing that makes living in Mila’s small town tolerable, is her best friend Riley. But when Riley dies in an alleged suicide, shortly after two of the classmates commit a joint suicide, Mila can’t shake the feeling that something else is going on. Armed with an ancient grimoire, Mila sets out to get answers. Magic is tricky though, and she ends up bringing all three girls back from the dead. Even worse, none of them remember what happened. Now she has seven days to figure out who murdered them and why. 🖤 📚 🖤 This book is so so fun! It has all the dark, sarcastic humor my black heart could dream of. Even better, for as fun as it is, this book tackles all the themes important in YA. Friendship, fitting in, popularity, mixed in with the heavier subjects of death, grief, and loss. The diversity and representation is divine! #undeadgirlgang shows that books don’t need to be serious to be important. Full review on my blog, link in my bio. Thank you @razorbillbooks #firsttoread @penguinteen for my review copy!!! 🖤 🔥 🖤 What’s the last book you read that was laugh out loud funny???

Going back to my old habbit. A year ago, someone told me to follow @trulyrichclub2015 ... She told me na sobrang nakakagaan ng loob yung words nya. Kanina, while eating alone at SM, my eyes were wandering hanggang maabot nito yung National Bookstore. Pero I turned myself stepping up the escalator and yes, I went to National Bookstore. That's one of my addictions talaga. Hanggang sa naisip ko na kung bibili man ako, it should be interesting, inspirational at yung matutulungan ako. Turned my heads up and saw the "Inspirational Book" Section. Yun talaga ang pinakahilig kong basahin noon pa man. But I still read other books like wattpad stories. Medyo mahal. Pero baka kailangan ko talaga. Unknown illness have unknown cures. Baka andito yun. #bosanchez #howtobereallyreallyreallyhappy #firsttoread #bookworm #goingbacktooldhabbits

Read 183/261 City of Lies by Victoria Thompson ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I really enjoyed this suffragist novel. I sadly don’t know much about them and having a fiction book not only show that, but also show a women pulling off a con and making people do what she wanted during this time was so fun to read. Thank you to firsttoread for an e-copy of this book I exchange for my honest review! . . . . . #suffragist #cityoflies #victoriathompson #firsttoread #kindle #leaves #blanket #minireview #erinreads2017 #2017reads

A Million Junes by Emily Henry Review
****I received a copy of this ARC from Penguin’s FirstToRead Program in exchange for an honest review!****
Plot: Two families with a grudge that goes back so far, June, the current generation of O'Donnells, doesn't even know what caused the feud with the Angerts. All she knows is bad things happen when O'Donnells and Angerts get together.
After Saul Angert comes back to their town of Five Fingers, Michigan, June starts seeing more of the little balls of light that are known to frequent her home. When she touches them, she is treated to visions of her family's past. As she starts bringing Saul along with her to the visions, they slowly come to find where the feud started.
Review:  I wanna start by saying I hadn't really heard too much about it, but I really liked the cover and I hadn't read too many Romeo and Juliet retellings recently, so I thought hey let's give it a try. Boy, this book took me by storm, grabbed my heart and squeezed and squeezed up til the end. The main reason for this being that June's story wasn't a whole lot different from my own. My dad died when I was sixteen, my mom remarried to my dad's friend, and I felt really lost without him for a long time. I still do. The moments where June points out how randomly grief can hit you. It's been 10 years for June and it'll be 8 years for me this summer. Grief still finds me now, during big events in my life and even in the most mundane things that remind me of him and the fact that he's gone. It was a very realistic portrayal of the way this happens. The writing was beautiful and I'm glad we got to see a good amount of at least June's family and friends, not just focusing on Saul and June, because this wasn't just a book about romance as some Romeo and Juliet retellings can be. Because the original was a tragedy and this one held on to that aspect well. The only thing I didn't quite like was the heavy-handedness at the beginning with making sure we knew this was Romeo and Juliet and the characters shown were named, but never mentioned again. Kinda odd, but doesn't do much to detract from the rest of the journey that follows. I would recommend this book to everyone, because it's story about generations and family and finding out who you are. Absolutely beautiful.

Ghost Notebooks -- a review
Check out my review haunting psychological #thriller by @bendolnickbooks @firsttoread #GhostNotebooks #psychologicalthriller #newrelease #amreading #bookreview #bookblogger #bookreviews #author #books #kindle #mentalillness #fiction
The Ghost Notebooks by Ben Dolnick was a combination of the most detailed descent into grief and madness ever written and a heartwarming story of love and salvation.  I started reading this book with high hopes.  The blurb makes it sound like something that keeps you on the edge of your seat, however I found that wasn’t quite the case. Initially, the book reads as a simple memoir.  A recounting…

Change Agent by Daniel Suarez Review ****I received this book as a part of Penguin's FirstToRead program in exchange for an honest review!**** Plot: In 2045, CRISPR, a DNA editing technology, is being used by those who can afford it to tailor their child's embryos on a cellular level in order to make them "better" by eliminating predisposition to diseases and disabilities, strengthening muscle growth, brain power, or extending life expectancy. Kenneth Durand is part of INTERPOL's division specifically created to police these genetic crimes. When trying to go after a crime syndicate called the Huli Jing, run by the world's most infamous genetic criminal, Marcus Wyckes, Kenneth gets dosed by a powerful experimental change agent. This agent turns Kenneth into the exact person he was trying to catch: Wyckes. The story follows Kenneth as he dodges capture by both sides of the conflict as he tries to get his body back. Review: I absolutely loved this book. It had just the right amount of science to go with the fiction. It takes place just near enough into the future that it gives me the creeps. The technology at the center of this story DOES exist on some level. CRISPR is real and exciting for what good it can do, but terrifying as well because of the potential consequences, i.e. the events of Change Agent. I especially admire that this technology wasn't the only thing new touched on in this very probable future such as self-driving cars, AR (Augmented Reality, think Pokemon Go x infinity) and god the ads. I think that is the most likely thing to drive me crazy if this comes true. But, I think that the fact that the book recognized that should technology get to the point of editing people's DNA after birth, the rest of the world's technology should reflect similar or equal advances. Just makes it more realistic. As a side note, holy crap this reminded me so much of Detective Conan! I mean really, high school detective gets dosed with an experimental drug that turns him into a kid, forcing him to try and find the men in charge and get his body back? Couldn't be more perfect. Detective Conan is my all-time favorite anime soooo, not bothered in the least. This is my first experience with Daniel Suarez, but I will be on the lookout for more of his books! I’ve been loving this digital galley of Chuck Klosterman’s But What If We’re Wrong? Fascinating ideas concerning what time has to do with how we perceive things, I think what I love most about this book is that Klosterman is preaching to the choir here, especially his thoughts on literature and cannon.

Isadore Mazal doesn't fit in. He isn't as smart as his prodigious siblings and isn't normal enough for his friends. When tragedy strikes his family though, this ability to see people for who they are may be exactly what his family needs. A melancholy story about a boy growing up.
