But hardly anyone discussing how we went from "clothing sizes are wacky but semi-comprehensible in women's clothing but men's clothing is extremely straightforward"

to "LOL good fucking luck! Clothing doesn't have 'true to size' and 'slightly bigger and smaller' anymore, we are making clothing in 4 different factories and they're all cutting stuff different and then we're using a custom sizing chart that's smaller than ANY clothing you have ever seen before and we get smaller every single day. Order our ultra-tapered athletic slim-cut bodycon shirt THREE SIZES up for a fit with any room!"

Because why making clothing at reasonable sizes when you can churn out twice as many dramatically smaller pieces with the same shitty fabric AND get credit for being "size inclusive" even though your 4X is a women's 14?

When I moved, I threw out a t-shirt from the 90s, that was a 3x shirt, that was FOR SURE larger than a lot of the 5x/6X clothing on the market right now.

I refuse to believe people wearing straight size clothing are not also experiencing this, and unfortunately I suspect THEM pitching a fit is likely to be the only way anything changes.

Like I know it's their manufacturer, not necessarily their fault, but. They could also have found a manufacturer that went to larger sizes. I don't even have much difficulty finding indie designers that go up to 5x these days; clearly those manufacturers exist. There's enough that it can be quite literally all I buy.

It's just surreal and weirdly irritating to hear "please help me," go to help, and then get hit with the "no, not you."
