hello, idk if this quite fits the question but im looking for any slime-looking enemies in the mario series? preferably ones with existing 3d models. i havent been able to find any and you seem like you all know a lot about random mario enemies
There are a few slimes in the main Mario series! Most notably...
Gooble from Super Mario Sunshine
Fizzlit from Super Mario Galaxy 2
Motley Bossblob's blobs from Super Mario 3D World
Poison Bubble from Super Mario Run (does this count? I think it counts. It's a blob of liquid poison)
And, I'm happy to be the bearer of wonderful news...
Wubba from Super Mario Bros. Wonder! The most classic-style, straightforward slime to thus far grace the Mario series, and a Wonder Effect will turn the player into one!
Outside the main Mario series, there are a bunch in the Yoshi series, like Slime Drop and Sluggy. All enemies mentioned in this post have 3D models!

Since the Fizzlit enemies encountered in Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Super Mario 3D World (latter model shown) change between purple when not attacking and yellow when attacking, their model is colored dynamically by the game’s engine instead of using colored textures; as such, the actual model is white.
Top: an idling Fizzlit, dynamically colored purple.
Middle: an attacking Fizzlit, dynamically colored yellow.
Bottom: the actual model as extracted from the files, showing the true white color of the source textures.

Celebrating a brilliant acting performance with Fizzlit Oilchange, Beep Boop, Christopher Icantrememberhislastname and Aria.
The restaurant is one i put in a penthouse in San Myshuno, but I’m not sure. I love the theme (Urban Jungle) but maybe I want someone to live there? Such a dilemma.

Name: Fizzlit
Debut: Super Mario Galaxy 2
Ah, Fizzlit. What an underappreciated little squishy thing!
Fizzlits appear in Mario Galaxy 2, and they appear wonderfully blobby and tooth-shaped. Why tooth-shaped? I dunno, but it’s a good shape to be. Their special attack? Squishing! This creates an electric forcefield, somehow.
Fizzlits really seem like the kind of enemy that would be ditched after one game, but no-siree! They make their grand return in 3D World (as seen on the right), where they’re considerably less tooth-shaped, but still the blob we know and love. They even compress into a big square! How goofy.

Actually, I just decided to go through and upload a bunch of traditional art I never posted here from the past few months. I LOVE traditional art, and I think my art always comes out nicer when I do it and feels more fun to make. However, I just don’t do it as often because it’s not as convenient as digital art, especially for toying around with improvised character designs and stuff.
But still, I absolutely adore doing traditional art and it’s still my favorite way to draw. So I’ve been trying to do it more often lately. Hopefully you enjoy the fruits of my labor from the past few months.
Starting off with some Sona designs:
-4 Sketches of my fursona
-A KoF/Street Fighter/Fatal Fury Sona
-A Bloody Roar Sona, who transforms into an Alligator of course :)
-Some sketches of my Mario Enemysona, who is a Fizzlit
-A cool Koboldsona idea that I’ve been really enjoying thinking about lately. He’s a cool dude.
Also, here’s an earlier attempt of the Bloody Roarsona, which doesn’t look as good but has nicer linework. I still wanted to share it:

Name: Uhh these purple things I guess!
Debut: Super Mario Odyssey (concept art)
We’ve gone over some weird, obscure stuff on this blog, haven’t we? But perhaps none as weird and obscure as these! If the weird thing is in a game, we at least get to interact with it and see it do stuff. If the weird thing is, say, a crab from a piece of promotional art, we know it’s a crab! But these?
These are only seen in a piece of concept art for Odyssey! Literally all we know about them is what they look like! Most people’s responses to this art seem to be alarm at either the prominence of Bowser’s feet or the Toad skull beneath one of them, but me? My eyes are drawn to these strange, splendid entities. And I want to know more.
The first thing they make me think of is a pawn. They’ve got the basic shape down, and they’re probably low-ranking minions of Bowser. Maybe they’re his literal pawns!
The second is Fizzlit! They have the exact same eyes and color scheme, though a different shape, and no mouth. But these are enemies known for being amorphous and changing shape... could they be one and the same?
Finally, it brings to mind teru teru bōzu, the ghost-like dolls made in Japan to hopefully bring about good weather! Which I just adore. Look at them. Cute little ghosties. One of the best kinds of things. But given the very Japanese vibe of Bowser’s Kingdom in Odyssey, I think this may be the most likely inspiration!
Whatever you may be based on... whatever purpose you may serve... I love you, purple things!
