That it is all a metaphor for the actual violence of forced conversion, the mental, emotional, social and even physical helplessness and disorientation that is felt in the victim made tangible through Caton’s performance. All of it inflicted with an intention to control and subjugate.

I love this scene. I mean, of course I do. It’s a 14 second long no holds barred beatdown (0:37-0:54 in the vid). Or at least, IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN!

Why is Barry not bleeding AT ALL?? Sure, his torso probably has a lot of bruises under the suit, I can accept that. HOWEVER. It is here I point out that Zoom hit him in the face NINE TIMES. And not a DROP of blood?!?!

I’m sure Zoom was holding back at least a bit, he wasn’t trying to kill Barry after all— but he was still punching AT SUPERSPEEDS.

This scene would have been a lot more impactful if the damage was actually shown. Even when you slow it down to 0.5 speed, it’s damn brutal, yet after the fact the effect is lost because it doesn’t look like it was.

And imagine the extra layer of angst when the rescue party arrives. Even if the injury’s healed (unlikely imo), there’s still visible blood from it. Cisco and Harry have already seen how badly Zoom can hurt Barry, but having a visual reminder of it would be so much worse. And when Barry tells them to leave him behind?? While sporting an undeniable reminder of exactly what they’d be leaving him to???

I would have ascended to a higher plane of existence and now I’ll never stop thinking about this.

Anyways yeah, Barry should have had blood on him from this beatdown and during the rescue scene.
