Watching The Pitt (Max) for the third time and I've noticed something.
Everyone points out Robby's misogynistic bias when stressed. But can we talk about Langdon's oblivious misogynistic issues??
Like he literally shrugs when Dana points out his wife could use a vacation and his reaction is "Don't I deserve one, I'm the doctor." Mind you he has two kids under four and from what I can tell, Abby his wife is a stay at home mom or a work from home mom, either way she is very obviously around the kids more than Langdon. Add on he got a dog without discussing it in general with HIS FUCKING WIFE.
And in Langdon's case, he's iffy when it comes to teaching female residents. Like Santos gets under his skin but as Robby points out, belittling and shaming are not good teaching tools and as Robby also points out, PTMC is a teaching hospital (Robby himself was even able to put his anger with McKay aside to have a teaching moment).
I think we miss it cause we all love the way he and Mel work together but he's very oblivious. And we won't know if it's just the drugs until season 2.
Honestly, all the characters of The Pitt have a blind spot.
Collin's literally points out McKay's when a plus size patient comes back in after crashing her car.
As a Writer: All the blind spots and imperfections are wonderful to see in characters. Whether we like it or not, the world is shades of grey and having character flaws is realistic.

Ok fiiiine I don’t even really go here but my brain conjured up the idea of Steve Harrington, pre season 4, like after school picking up the kiddos after Hellfire, defending Lucas’s sports playing to his friends and Eddie. Like “wait I thought you liked nonconformity, or does it only count if it’s about the stuff you like? Let the kid do the things he likes, man”. Which is something they all need to hear I think but then it turns into Steve COMPLETELY obliviously and accidentally turning it into “it’s ok to be Bi” subtext.
Like “you can be more than one thing, you know? It’s ok to like both. They don’t have to cancel each other out.”
And the kids maybe aren’t picking up on anything but maybe one or two of them are subconsciously like “you can??? This is good to know and keep in my mind for future crises” meanwhile Eddie is like “Holy fucking shit is STEVE HARRINGTON bisexual?” and being launched head first into a crisis of his own.
It is so, so important to me that Steve has no idea that he’s doing this, and may not even be aware that he himself is, in fact, bi.

You could make a really cool cottagecore fantasy novel using the structure of Little House in the Big Woods. Where the main characters live in a stable environment and go about their daily lives dealing with the domestic details of the world, but they meet characters who have gone on adventures. So a huge chunk of the book is made up of the stories that these characters tell. The main characters would face very little peril, but you'd still have a book full of thrilling stories.
I'd try for a middle-grade fantasy. Center it on a group of siblings whose parents went on save-the-world adventures, but have settled down to raise a family. Maybe they run an inn that caters to people from a ton of the nations and races of this fantasy world. Or maybe they're just frequently visited by old adventuring companions who always have cool stories to share about the adventures they've been on or the events or history of their homeland.

The erasure of uchiha contribution to konoha’s founding makes me so sad because that village was as much madara’s dream as it was hashirama’s and his part in it deserves to be remembered. How does izuna get erased from everything when he was one of the strongest people of that time, an equal to Tobirama, and his death was the literal catalyst to the peace treaty and the village’s creation?

Would you mind elaborating on what you mean by having to edit Stephs relationship with the bats in the fic?
before i read more about her character i assumed she had a more sibling relationship to the Bats and her mentorship with Bruce was different/more parental. i even had one of them refer to her as a sister or vice versa? but i know better now and went back and changed it. though she does comment that dick is like a brother to her i see it more as being good friends with your friend's/ex's/new partner's sibling, if that makes sense. i made a post a while back to clear up the miscommunication with the change but it has been a while

I hate it when people villainize Craig for the way he deals with Tweek’s emotional outbursts sometimes
Like. Craig loves Tweek. He’s just also a very independent person who doesn’t always know how to handle his emotions in a healthy manner, let alone the emotions of a hyperactive paranoid 4th grader who has been drugged with meth (presumably) their whole life. Obviously this is in no way TWEEK’S fault, but he CAN at times be a bit clingy, latching onto the one person who will listen (in this case Craig) as he doesn’t get that same attention at home, and while this may be understandable, it’s still not an entirely healthy thing to be doing. Craig is absolutely someone that needs to work on himself as well, such as learning better ways to communicate and deal with his feelings, but people also seem to forget that he’s just a KID, and to be somewhat responsible for a whole other human being, especially one like Tweek, is probably a lot sometimes. As much as I love Tweek, he CAN be a bit intense. If a relationship is going to work out between them, there are things HE needs to work on just as much as Craig does.

flaws are what make characters interesting im all for addressing them but also 99% of the time warrior cats fans go on about squirrelflight being flawed specifically in relation to bramblestar or other characters, then usually they're either just making shit up or being wrong

one thing i’ve never really seen explored in fics explicitly is the fact that despite both echo and tech being autistic, they were brought up in very different environments with different responses to their autistic traits.
tech’s special (war-related) interests and obsessive data gathering was likely encouraged by the kaminoans. he had a group of supportive brothers who were equally shunned by the other clones, but the kaminoans saw them as elite, and they internalized that. what the regular clones say can hurt, sure, but they aren’t the ones in power, the kaminoans are. the bad batch know they’re different from the other clones, but they think they’re inherently better. and yeah, the batch still tease tech and are outright mean about traits of his sometimes, but they stand by each other when it counts. tech’s differences make him special in a good way, and despite the hardships, he knows that.
but echo? echo’s batch were also shunned, they were an actual “bad batch”, but the kaminoans were upset by it. these weren’t special defective clones, these were just defective clones. echo in particular had his habits of repeating orders and obsessively reading reg manuals, and because his batch were all trying so hard to fit in with the others, they learned to look down on traits like that, echo included. i think echo has a good amount of internalized ableism not just as a formerly physically able-bodied person who suddenly lost three limbs and his autonomy, but just as an autistic guy growing up in a system that praises conformity to the extreme. he’s literally a CLONE. and not a special elite one, he’s supposed to be just like everyone else, but he isn’t. (fives might’ve even been so adamant about clones’ individuality because of this, because echo had internalized harmful ideas of conformity and fives wanted him to see past that. idk i might add on to that later lol)
my point being, i think it’d be really interesting to see echo clashing a bit with tech when he first joins the group. not in an outright mean way, not with the intention to harm, but just. on accident. he’s ignorant, and he’s learned over the years to suppress those traits in himself, so seeing someone so openly and freely embracing his passions and interests and differences would probably make echo uncomfortable in ways he wouldn’t even recognize.
he might make casual comments or jokes that are meant to be harmless or at the most self-deprecating, but that end up hurting tech. he might be stricter with tech in certain situations, like formal events that he’s learned the hard way to pay attention during, but that tech brushes off to mess with his datapad. i think echo would scold tech for little unimportant things, things that echo trained himself out of, because he thinks he’s doing him a favor when really he’s just perpetuating harmful ideas. they might even be things tech already is aware of but knows are ableist ideas, so he ignores them.
idk. i just think it’d be fun if, in addition to helping him accept all the changes that have happened to him, tech also helped echo learn to accept who he’s always been :D
and of course there would be the side plot of crosshair gradually getting more and more defensive and protective of tech when echo is being a bit of an unintentional dick and them inevitably butting heads in a big way because of it. because ofc they would :D
tagging @the-bi-space-ace and @phantom-of-the-501st cause why not lol

one of the appeals of cdrw to me is that rewind is incredibly selfish for wanting/forgiving cd for his terrible actions. he tells chromedome not to do mnemosurgery and still forgives him when he does. chromedome's actions cause rewind to fucking die and he still made him a video that said "i dont care about what you did, you are a better person now, flawed and all, and i love you". when chromedome does it again he cuts off his arm!! he cuts his fucking arm off for trying to kill himself!! his main criticism of fucking lobotomy is its killing his lover. rewind shoots megatrons spark at conception because he wants to save everyone else from their species's devastating wrath yet hugs his war criminal husband!! rewind does not hold chromedome to the standard of others because he loves chromedome and wants to believe he can be better. and that gives him so much character to me. number one chromedome apologist
