Dudeee I was terrified to come out to my extended family as trans but they're all so nice about it? Particularly the grandparents I'm seeing for the first time since I told them in April,, I was worried but they are SO nice 😭♥️ I can talk about my experiences with it, my choice of name, the epic highs and lows of high school football transness. And they're trying with my name and I just ♥️♥️♥️

also my grandpa figured I named myself after Oscar Wilde and included two quotes from him in a letter he wrote me about this whole thing <3 I didn't actually name myself after anyone in particular but hell yeah Oscar Wilde I'm glad my name carries his legacy

Summary: It was suppose to be peaceful and soothing- what the fuck happened!?

It was their favourite place, it was a place of peace and a place to unwind from the daily stresses of life, it was a place to go when things were too loud and overwhelming. They always loved walking through this forest trail. They did it at least once every day weather permitting. The sounds of wildlife around them, the shuffling of leaves, twigs, and dirt from under their feet as they walked along the path was soothing in a way.

Kaden inhaled deeply, breathing in the earthy air as they walked. They always heard the shuffling of squirrels, toads, perhaps even a rabbit or two or if they were really lucky they'd see some deer making their way through. So noise wasn't something to be alarmed of, or so Kaden had thought.

There was a noise that had alerted them, it didn't sound like the little scurrying's of a squirrel, rabbit or deer, these sounds were quick but they also sounded heavy and there was more than one. Kaden halted their movements, they always heard of people getting into all sorts of trouble while in the middle of the forest but Kaden hadn't actually thought it would possibly happen in their area.

Kaden's heart rate increased as they listened, they could hear someone yelling, Kaden wanted to move but they felt momentarily frozen, their tune quickly changed when they heard gunfire and their blood ran cold and it looked like all the colour had drained from their face, green eyes wide in shock, without thinking their feet started moving on their own.

Kaden ran heavily, their shoes hitting the ground in fast stomps, their chest burning as they tried to make it out of the trail that thankfully they knew so well. The sounds of running weren't just Kaden's own and they were too scared to look behind them, although it was in front of them that they should have looked out for.

Before Kaden could blink a man ran out from off the path and had a trigger finger. He grasped the trigger and pulled it back quickly sending a shot out towards Kaden, the shot flew through Kaden's sweater and thankfully missed their flesh and Kaden screamed loudly, grabbing their head as they sank to the ground on their knees and within an instant the man had grabbed them and Kaden squirmed and kicked and screamed.

"Whoa whoa whoa!!!! SHIT calm down..CALM DOWN!" The man yelled. "Are you okay!? I'm not going to hurt you I'm an officer!" He put his gun away quickly realizing he had almost put a hole into a civilian.

"YOU SHOT AT ME!!" Kaden screeched at the top of their lungs.

"You were running! I thought--tch I thought I was chasing the guy I was after but I guess it was you…I got turned around somewhere. Look.." The guy squatted down to Kaden's level on the ground and Kaden uncovered their head and glanced up at him.

This man was pretty tall, at least he looked to be tall maybe 6'0" 6'2" his hair was dark and thick, styled but a little deshevled no doubt from the running. He had a strong jawline, a pronounced nose and deep-set brown eyes. He was currently wearing a red flannel with blue jeans. If Kaden wasn't so rattled and they were in a better predicament they would have thought this man was incredibly handsome but they didn't have time to think about that.

"I'm sorry I shot at you" He stated.

"I'd say it's okay but the fuck it ain't okay!" Kaden looked down at their hoodie and their eyes were drawn to a hole near the shoulder, Kaden stuck their finger through the hole and their face drained once more. "You almost got me!!!"

"You were running and I thought you were someone else! I didn't know anyone would be out here! Who walks through the forest at sundown!?" The guy threw his hands in the air to which Kaden was quick to interject and snap back.

"UHM PEOPLE WHO WALK ON FOREST TRAILS!?" Kaden gestured with their hands, spreading them out to showcase they were in fact on a trail.

The guy looked around, his eyes widening a little, he looked so innocent at that moment and simply went "Oh…shit…yeah- Hey you should leave, we got a crazy guy on the lose"

"Is it YOU!?" Kaden snapped, scrambling to get to their feet and the guy half smirked as he helped Kaden up.

"Funny. No, an actual criminal on the loose. You should go home."

Kaden sighed heavily and nodded as they turned on their heel and started to walk away but the guy stopped them by calling out. "Wait do you live around here? Are you close by? Do you need a ride or something?"

"Maybe. Who wants to know?"

"I do."

"….Yes I'm close by, no I don't need a ride."

"Might want to avoid going out for a little bit till this guy is caught"

"What did he do if I may ask.." Kaden turned to face the guy again, their arms crossing over their chest.

"I don't want to cause panic.." He sighed

"YOU. SHOT. AT. ME." Kaden growled and the guy cracked a full-on smile.

"Touche. He's wanted for murder."

"So how do I know when it's safe? Will he like…be on the news or something?" Kaden cocked an eyebrow.

The guy walked over to Kaden and yeah…oh yeah he was tall in comparison to Kaden. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small piece of paper and his pen, he scribbled something down as he spoke.

"Give us a call in a couple weeks." He handed them the paper and started to walk off in the other direction. "Sorry about your sweater!" he called and gave a small wave of his hand.

Kaden was left standing at the entrance of the trail, clutching a piece of paper, and a hole in their sweater, looking in disbelief at what just happened. They opened their hand to look at the piece of paper and it simply said "Flip" plus his number, it was definitely a personal number and not from the station.

"What the FUUUCCKKK" Kaden hollered out into what looked like the empty forest.

"HAH RIGHT!?" Flip yelled back and Kaden tilted their head head at the sudden reply.

All Kaden wanted was a peaceful walk through their favourite place. Now they're worried for their life and left confused about the weird interaction with some guy named Flip who tried to shoot at them. Kaden sniffed and smelt the hole through their sweater and pulled back.

"Gunpowder- Goodbye weird forest, I may never meet you again," Kaden spoke softly into the air before turning back to walk home. After the excitement here they weren't sure if they wanted to return. Ever. "My poor sweater…"
