Tag 18, 07.09.2024 in Lissabon

Unseren ersten Tag in Lissabon konnten wir mit einem Frühstück auf unserem eigenen Balkon genießen. Wir haben hier ein sehr tolles Hostel erwischt! Janke ist leider etwas krank.. Trotzdem sind wir schnell Los, um die Stadt zu erkunden. Auf dem Weg zum Wasser sind wir noch an einem kleinen Markt vorbeigekommen und haben gestöbert. Wir haben uns dann schnell für einen Flohmarkt entschieden. Der war Riesen groß aber hatte echt coole Stände: ich habe eine Sommerjacke bekommen und Janke Ohrringe und eine kleine Handtasche. Danach sind wir wieder runter zum Wasser und zu dem Flugtag Event von Red Bull, welches wir vorher schon entdeckt haben. Da haben Leute ihr eigenes Gefährt gebaut und sind dann mit Anlauf von einem Vorsprung ins Wasser gesprungen. Es ging darum, wer am weitesten Fliegt, einige sind aber auch nur abgestürzt. Das war ziemlich Amüsant! Nachdem wir ein wenig zugeschaut haben sind wir wieder hoch ins Hostel, da Janke etwas schlafen wollte. Ich habe dann Telefoniert und mich noch ein bisschen über die Stadt informiert. Danach sind wir einkaufen gegangen und nochmal los. Ich wollte in einen Fliesenladen. Auf dem Weg dorthin haben wir noch an zwei Vintageshops angehalten und jeder hat sich ein Tuch gekauft. Im Fliesenladen angekommen, waren wir sehr beeindruckt. Dort haben wir eine zeit gestöbert und ich habe mich für ein Paar Fliesen entschieden. In Portugal ist es normal, dass es nicht nur im Haus überall viele Fliesen gibt, sondern auch an der Fassade. Zurück im Hostel wollten wir Essen kochen, haben aber festgestellt das der Teig für unsere Pizza rund ist. Ich bin dann nochmal los, um einen zweiten Teig nachzukaufen und Janke hat in der Zeit schon die erste Pizza belegt. Gegessen haben wir dann mit einer Australierin, die momentan ein Gapyear macht und Europa bereist. Da haben wir uns für eine Free Walking Tour durch Lissabon für morgen entschieden, da sie uns von ihren Plänen erzählt hat. In unserem Zimmer haben wir dann mit dem neu dazugekommenen Kanadier und Neuseeländer zwei Stunden gequatscht und das portugiesische Bier Super Bock getrunken. Das Bier war nicht so gut, aber mit den beiden Jungs war es sehr lustig. Jetzt geht’s schnell schlafen.

Flugtag competition at ESMA

It is a tradition in my school to hold a glider competition inspired by the redbull flugtag competition, based on the knowledge acquired about aircraft design and aerodynamics, for which each group made a model airplane with a free theme.

My group designed a shark theme, so our plane would be just like a shark, we designed the plans for a glider and gave it details so that it resembles a shark, in terms of technical level we saw the weight, balance, dimensions, materials that are light as balsa wood and to decorate monocoque paper.

The day of the competition we had to present a dance according to the theme, so we did a synchronized swimming dance and then we launched our plane from the top of a bleacher. In the end, our group managed to win the competition since it flew more than 50 meters, surpassing the rest of the planes.

It was very interesting for me to see how an aircraft works and how it is capable of sustaining itself in the air, it was also fun to build it and give it a little more emotion with the dance.

Red Bull is usually known for their “ Red Bull Gives You Wings” catch-phrase, but they also do a multitude of other campaigns and events to ensure their audience is engaged. 

Red Bull Flugtag Events consisted of human crafted air vessels, have the chance to fly. The idea was for consumers to create a large flying machine out of household items. They are set to fly off a 30 foot deck and into the Ohio River (I’m from Ohio!). 

Participating in this even aims to maintain the sight of Red Bull Gives You Wings, attempting to fly something not necessarily designed to fly based off creativity and how bad you want it. 

As the target audience is adventurists and daredevils all alike, anyone can come compete in this event sponsored by Red Bull. It ignited a competitive spirit and entertaining all audiences. Red Bull also pulls on the assistance of brand association in this campaign, mimicking Red Bull’s energy, adventure, and extreme activities they are known for.
