What's RHG if you don't mind me asking? I looked it up on tumblr and saw a lot of animator vs animation stuff but idk if that's the same thing you're talking about & idk what it stands for 💔

Rhg is short for rock hard gladiators, a (now dead, replaced by hyun’s dojo duels) online tournament thing run by fluidanims-> stickpage. The whole jist is battles between stickman characters, primarily thru animation (though it can be thru comic and other media but that’s incredibly overlooked). A lot of fans overlap between rhg and ava because of this similarity but theyre def not the same

Like for example, when I search up rhg on here, ava comes up too but that’s just bc the post combined two communities. the first overlapping post i saw featured chuck, an rhg. He’s one of the very popular ones including gildedguy (who’s carrying the community), oxob, Yoyo, Mr pix, fllffl (supposed to represent “alfa” in cool font), jade, so on and so forth…there isn’t a set storyline between all of these characters, again they were simply online tournaments and majority of the content of them nowadays are just random shit fans pieced together (for example, a lot of people rely on Cier as a location for lore between the “cast”, but that didn’t actually exist until post-rhg), and therefore the more directly story-based characters (primarily oxob, gg, one&yoyo&chronos, watever) are the most popular

ive been thinking so so much about the ancient internet relic that is stick figure fight animations. stickpage, fluidanims, RHG. how they're such a pure distillation of the art form of action choreography. how the duel match-up system makes it a community inherently built on collaboration and gifts. how everyone has the most comically edgy OCs ever. how good all the music synchronisation is. how, on rare occasions, genuine moments of gorgeous storytelling can glint through all the flashy violence (see: umbrella vs alfa).

that community is still around in theory- Hyun's dojo is still an active site. the dojo duels happen all the time. it's not what it used to be but it totally still exists.

maybe I should...

learning animation is alot of work. overcome with inspiration but there's massive barriers to entry.
