Squiggles is the cousin of Flutters and Flyte (the character was made before the announcement of flyte, however, squiggles was still intended to be flutter’s cousin). This isn’t canon unfortunately because I’m not the creator of dandy’s world. They’re still a worm on the string, just with weird little wings. /aff

Their way of communicating is by images and emoticons (Except in the introductory post, it’s been recon’d).

Their toon handler hates them but they’re blissfully unaware, because we love trauma here.

Mother Dearest (Moonflower X Reader)

AN: SO I have to be real lowkey, I'm not the biggest fan of moon flower, but like the request hit a lil too close to home. I know, I know I can't believe the person writing fanfic of toons have polycules has mommy issues/lh Im jk dw

I have daddy issues too. ANYWAY-

This was a request!

☁ You're relationship with your mother was...complicated. It was a mixture of both coddling and smothering while also being overbearing enough it suffocated you.

☁ She always had a say in what you wore, how you talked, who you befriended, even who who you dated.

☁ No one was ever good enough in her eyes. She always belittled them either to their face or to you when they left, crushing any semblance you ever had of impressing her into a miniscule crumb.

☁ It was a tiring and heavy feeling admittedly and it made you feel mere inches tall.

☁ Impressing your mother was such a heavy burden at times, you wished more than anything for some form of support, but alas how can you find support when the closest connection you have is the very problem.

☁ There's a heavy variable of control she has over your life that drastically minimizes the help you can get with expressing yourself. Oppressive in a way.

☁ You thought that would've been your life forever. Even after the outbreak and you were cured (Your mother had managed to get away with her handler leaving you behind), you feared what she thought.

☁ And then you met Dandy. He was an odd toon, and the way he looked at you made shivers crawl up your spine. It wasn't uncomfortable, but it made you aware.

☁ The way his eyes scanned you up and down made you feel like you were under a microscope, yet he only ever greeted you with a smile. He always had a compliment for you whenever he popped up, making your cheeks flush as you shied away.

☁ He never once strayed from his path however, eventually evolving to pressing soft kisses against your knuckles with cheeky winks as he left once more.

☁ It was an odd feeling, moreso when you met Astro.

☁ Astro was a quiet individual. Often startling you when he spoke and you hadn't heard him come up behind you. He always offered you an apologetic smile at the action and made an effort to make more noise if he was moving near you. It was thoughtful and made your chest flutter in the same way it did when Dandy kissed your knuckles.

☁ Both were incredibly sweet on you, taking the time and patience necessary to woo you with soft words and gentle gestures. Anything more made your skittish self immediately revert back three steps, starting the whole game all over again.

☁ It was a struggle at first for them, for multiple reasons. One being they never understood where this came from. What kind of experiences have you had to make you feel this way?

☁ It was also a struggle as one day, a hand on your back would be welcomed and even enjoyed, but the next would make you jump so high they were surprised you didn't make records.

☁ It was always a judge of your character that day truly, but they never understood why.

☁ They persevered though, continuing to pursue a relationship with you.

☁ It was a slow, and somewhat tedious one, but one cherished nonetheless. Slowly you opened up, showing the personality that you kept so carefully hidden. It made them beam with pride every time it shined through, watching you thrive like you were meant to do.

☁ Honestly. Dandy and Astro are a good match for this kind of individual to be honest. Astro's patience means he's easy to open up too and can remain calm even when the things you tell him make him very... not. He waits for you and allows you to come to him, showing him what you wish to show him.

☁ Dandy is...not very patient. He's much more assertive and, ironically, brings you a sense of comfort with how he acts and his domineering personality. The difference between Dandy and your mother however, is Dandy only pushes on things he knows you'd like or things he knows you've done before. Never what he thinks or what he wants you to do, it's always for your best interest.

☁ Between the two of them, they help build your confidence steadily enough you ask if they would like to meet your mother.

☁ And though they agree, there's a stone of uncertainty in all of you.

☁ She comes to Gardenview on her own terms, all upturned noses and wrinkled brows. She looks at you like you're an extension of herself, but the part of she walks on.

☁ It's a look of contempt as she tries to figure out what you wanted her for, making you avoid her glance as you fiddle with your fingers.

☁ The way she looks at you alone makes Dandy's smile tighten as his eye twitches, the familiar crawl of ichor up his spine making him shiver. He can't lose control. Not yet.

☁ Astro himself steps closer to you, biting his tongue so hard he's sure it starts to bleed as he keeps a hand on your shoulder, reminding you that he's here, will always be there and nothing will change that.

☁ Your mother scoffs at this, narrowing her eyes with a glower that just makes you shrink. "What is this?" She sneers and you wince.

☁ Dandy's pretty sure his knuckles crack with how hard he clutches his hands. Still, he manages to uncurl one, holding it out as he slaps on his showtime grin once more. "Dandicus Dancifer, but you can just call me Dandy! Pleased as punch to meet you!" He says cheerfully, even if the bubbling rage in his gut is anything but.

☁ She snorts at him, eyes darting to where she knows Astro is. Astro meets her glare, refusing to back down as he steps closer to you. "Astro Novalite."

☁ "Mom," Your voice shakes as you once again pull her attention to you. "These...are my partners."

☁ Dandy almost winces at the waver in your voice as you refuse to look up from your hands, locking eyes with Astro from where he stands. Astro's frowning as his hand rubs up and down your back, his jaw clenched so hard Dandy's sure his teeth are paying the price.

☁ Seems it was up to him. Which was fine. Dandy was used to tough crowds.

☁ Just as your mother opens her mouth, Dandy cuts in. "Yes, Ma'am. They swept us right up off our feet! You raised quite the angel." He layers the honey on so thick she doesn't pick up on the venom underlaying his tone, evident in the way she blinks, seemingly in surprise.

☁ For a second, her eyes dart over to the side, where a cut out of him stands welcoming guests. Immediately he can see her pupils expand, darting from that to the posters of both him and Astro hung up.

☁ "You're the Dandy and Astro?" She prods and he realizes she's finally clicked onto who they are in the grand scheme of things. It boils his gut at the thought of her only liking them for their status, but it means they get to keep you, he's fine exploiting it, even just a little.

☁ He does a bow, sneering to himself as his head is angled toward the floor. "That's right!"

☁ "And dating...them?" She asks and he can hear Astro's star shards thrum to life before he's urging them away.

☁ He understands the feeling all too well as he raises. You look near tears and the very thought makes the ichor wish to roar to life. He doesn't let it, gently wiping his thumbs under your eyes. "Aw, petal-"

☁ "Yes." Astro cuts in, calling the attention to his mean glower. "We are. If you don't like it, sucks to be you." He speaks with such a finality, Dandy finds himself a little awestruck by the celestial as he holds you close.

☁ You're mother gapes for a second before realizing there's no real driving them off or even making them bend beneath her, so she tries a different tactic, a smile crawling across her face. Her hands clap together, suddenly all sunshine and rainbows.

☁ "Quite the contrary, I think you're both a great match for them." Her eyes sharpen, but she says nothing more on the matter. "Now, I was only supposed to be here a short while, I must get going. Do take care of them for me will you? They were such a difficult child at times, I can only imagine it's the same now." She snaps with a finality in her tone that makes you wilt all over again before she's walking out the front doors.

☁ There's a moment of silence before both boys are turning to you, apologies already on the tip of their tongue before you're jumping onto them, arms wrapped around them as you alternate between kissing each of their cheeks. Astro fumbles over whatever he was going to say, immediately flushing pink as Dandy goofily holds a hand to his cheek when you pull away.

☁ You're cheeks are a gorgeous shade of magenta , making him grin before you're speaking. "Thank you. No one's ever done that for me before." You say, suddenly shy as you avoid looking them.

☁ "Oh petal, any time." He moves to press his own kisses to your cheek, making you laugh as Astro copies him before both let you breath.

☁"Youre mom sucks though." Astro cuts in, suddenly serious as he looks at the door.

☁"Hardcore." Dandy agrees.

☁ You don't say anything, but for once, you don't wilt at the very mention of her.

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!

I bring more flowerberry, with an fake episode poster I made. I hope I got at least a bit closer to the canon artstyle hehe!

In my head Flutter is sort of like a wingwoman she be helping the toons with relationship advice. She's heartshaped after all, she totally related to some cupid themes!

Have an extra too with them being very cute.

Fun fact: If yall wonder why my normal Sprout design (the very humanized/realistic one) doesn't have a tail like his toon design... It's because his tail fell after neglect. His handler sucks!

GIGIS WORLD AU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AUGH

AAAAAAUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHH its not even fully done yet i still have like 4 other characters to make but honestly i might scrap or put this project on hiatus i have no motivation to work on it anymore sobs

i will give you guys the ideas i had for the characters i didnt end up making though, and the idea i had for the toon handlers.

Flutter - Gardener, works in the garden and grows/collects seasonings for the kitchen and decoration for the casino customers/staff

R&D - Casino Hosts, working directly with customers to make sure they want to return to the casino and ensuring they have a good experience.

Looey - A comedian/magician on the stage in the disco, a solo preformer. Magician by day and comedian during after hours

Pebble - A security dog working within every part of the casino, with his loud bark he can alert other security of unwanted guests, and using his sharp teeth he can hold them down long enough to deal with them.

Cosmo - A chef in the kitchen, working along with shrimpo. He specializes in pastries, but can also cook other, more healthy foods if needed.

ok thats about it for the toons i didnt end up getting to design. ill ramble more about the actual lore here if anyone cares about that LOL. keep in mind i got like almost nowhere with this so its very VERY vauge and unfinished also im not a good writer whoops

' the basic idea is that the casino had been running fine up untill they had faced a lawsuit, causing them to shut down everything and abandon the casino. Since the toons had been made specifically for the casino they had just been left in there to handle themselves. Eventually, one of the toons had grown curious and decided to tear down one of the machines. After ripping open the back of the machine, black ooze leaked out and covered the bottom of their feet. Not thinking much of it and assuming it was just oil of some kind, they continued, getting the liquid all over their hands and face, along with their legs. After tearing open the machine, they had found little to nothing of interest and left to get themselves cleaned up. However, when they tried to wipe the goo off, it wouldnt budge and instead had covered more of their body. After a short while, they began to feel hollow on the inside and an ache in their bones, what happened afterwards had become contagious and slowly began to infect the whole casino. '

TOON HANDLERS!! they have a whole new purpose here. They work mostly as managers for the toons, each handler has their own line of work and toons to keep track of and train, only 4 have designs tho lol. IGNORE the reindeer names i couldnt think of anything else ok

Harvey - the bartender, he works with Rodger, Dandy and Sprout. often exhausted, but not rude by any means. mostly quiet and closed off

Prancer - the director, works with Glisten, Poppy, Boxten, Shelly and Looey. a jumpy cheery fella, mostly looking to have fun and trying to be as positive as she can be. bigender monarch

Doner - the (old) director/beauty worker, used to work with Glisten, Poppy, Boxten, Shelly and Teagan, but had been fired after a long time working there due to extreme mistreatment of his toons. although he was closed off, he never seemed to be too angry or aggressive towards other handlers, but when a toon would mess up or act out he would become ruthless without the other handlers knowledge.

Rudolf - the chef, works with Shrimpo, Cosmo and Flutter. a happy and cocky chef who tries his best to make his job entertaining and teaches his toons in more extreme fun ways.

there SHOULDVE been way more but as i said before i dont have motivation to work on this anymore lmao. also glisten canonically has BPD in this my #bpdwarrior

AU Lore Explanation Time

Part I: Main Summary

Dandy’s Dreamway Express is a Dandy’s World AU that tends to have two sides to it. The first side is the wholesome and sweet dreamcore aesthetic in a way. Mostly think of pastel colors and lovely things you see in your dreams. Both in the past and now. This side of the AU is kinda like the main ordeal with the normal toons being themselves. Both kinda in character and….just as themselves. Everyone enjoying their jobs and each other’s company while on an endless dream-way express. (Yes even Shrimpo enjoys his time on the train. He just cannot show it the proper way.) Anyone and everyone is allowed to interact with the entire cast, including seasonal toons. (I REFUSE to leave those beans out.) The other side to this AU revolves around the Twisted Counterparts and the Ichor itself. You could say that the ichor is more as a mix of a hive-mind substance that does make up the toons, but also can kinda leak itself into the real world. Now the funny part is this. The reason the Dreamway Express exists as a whole is due to the AU versions of the Toon Handlers. In this case, they were the first dreamers of the Dreamway express, somehow giving it life. However, due to the decline of their health, the toons were left to themselves, kinda like canon, but rather than deteriorate in public, they hide their twisted halves of their nature. They never show their true nature. Well…..not unless if they have to. But yeah. That’s the summary

Part II: Toon Roles

Okay! Time for everyone’s job/role on the Dreamway Express! 🥳 (I may not finish first try, there are a lot of toons to write for.)

Dandy: Head Conductor

Astro: Dreamway’s Observer, Dandy’s Right Hand Man

Sprout: Head chef of the Express

Shelly: Dinosaur Exhibit Cart Curator and Director, Inventory,

Vee: Gameshow Hostess, Surveillance, Head of the Entertainment Department of the Express, Head of the Security,

Bassie: She runs everything Easter related. Has her own shop and Easter Cart where the other Easter toons reside.

Bobette: Everyone knows she runs the Christmas cart as well as events and activities. She is the one who keeps up everyone’s morale during the cold.

Cocoa: The Lady of Bunbuns. Will be the baker and decorator of Easter. She also looks out for others as extra support.

Flyte: One speedy waiter that never wastes an order, despite how fast he is. Works with the other Easter toons as well as helps his sister (yes Flutter) as back up in case something happens. He also helps with security.

Eggson: The peepaw who happily watches over the younger dreamers of the AU.

Rudie: The nightlight and entertainer of the Christmas Toons. Whenever it would be nightime upon the Dreamway Express, you would see him and Brightney help Tisha whenever she goes to clean up before bed (in cases the ichor hive mind DOESN'T take over on that certain night, more on that later),

Ginger:

Goob: He is definitely one of the workers that works in the daycare cart. A Caretaker who loves Arts and Crafts, security, sometimes small errands, staff morale #2, literally just the staff members' biggest bean <:3

Scraps: Fellow Caretaker and Security staff, Goob's #1 Guardian/Bodyguard (eldest sibling do what she gotta do), greatly observant of everyone's actions and character.

and those are all the headcannons I have for now. If you notice, you probably see that they have a yellow bow and flower on them somewhere, well, those are there identification marks! Any celebrational toon will have these marks to be recognized as a holiday toons in my au, The Light that Bonds Us (for example, the Christmas toons all have mistletoe on them)! Usually this mark is from the main of the group, but they also have a yellow bow to symbolize their connection to Eggson.

-coal is naturally very warm. shes a hot coal in my design and has little heat patterns :-]

-the stringy tail i gave sprout in my design can bloom into a long bush overtime, stretching up to 15 feet long. from the bush can grow ichor strawberries, which he can pick and seemingly magically transform into cupcakes for his ability [i didnt know how to implement tapes into his ability usage so i just equated tapes to time passing]

-i said this before in the dandys world hcs blog before i became a mod there but rocks [as in pebble and coal] are their own species, rather than being the dandys world equivalent of dogs. regular animala do exist, sapient or not [as proved by rudie and toodles' dog plush trinket], pet rocks are just a separate species that mimicks traits and behaviours from other animals, almost exclusively domesticated animals. dogs and cats are the most common pet rocks, but there have been instances where a pet rock has had rabbit, tortoise, and bird traits, though these are extremely rare. pet rocks that minick animals with fur/feathers also have the chance to grow moss, snow or other materials on their body as a replacement or mimick. for example, my pebble design has moss as fur, based off the loyal bud skin, and my coal design has snow with specks of ash, since shes a lump of coal. these can overgrow and be trimemd safely, but completely shaving off material fur is highly discouraged as it can be painful for the pet rock, and they usually develop such traits to handle their environment better [for example, coal's snow fur helps her be used to cold temperatures and not overheat]

-bit of a joke hc based off the last one and also that one trend: Rock Lobsters Exist. the lore for them is that people wanted more exotic animals as pet rocks so they started selectively breeding and altering the genetics of some pet rocks and ended up getting lobsters. they are Very aggressive however and do not make good pets, now theyre an invasive species

-flutter is actually a moth but since butterflies are more universally liked the creators of the show just decided "nah shes a butterfly trust"

-tisha has the most impeccable gaydar out of everyone in gardenview. shes also the most confident in her trans identity [trans woman tisha ily]

-i know a lot of people hc rodgers eye to turn into a mouth when he eats but to me he just.has an invisible mouth. he brings food up to his face and !suddenly theres a bite !! what the fuck !!

-if ginger was allowed to be more than just a christmas toon with a one-dimensional personality she would love skating, this is actually why she has ice skates in my design !! [this is taken from the fact that her running animation kinda looks like shes skating, shoutout to my friend @trophtissuesftw for pointing it out]

-astros favorite treat are enigma candies.he will hoard those thangs and eat like 12 of them in a row.its a bit of a guilty pleasure

-shelly gets very uspet whenever shes on a floor with her twisted version. not because its.yknow. Herself. but because shes "inaccurate to how dinos actually look like"[lack of feathers n stuff] and she will ramble about it the entire floor

-if you try to take an unwanted photo of astro and somehow dont get interrupted by any of the other toons or the handlers the picture will come out Horrifying. like something straight out of analog horror

-shrimpo and finn can both breathe underwater, and astro straight up doesnt need to breathe

-thumbtacks and other sharp objects dont kill or severely harm looey or poppy. theyre just Extremely Uncomfortable. like yk when your foot is asleep. yeah imagine that Around Your Entire Body. it makes them faster yeah but thats the only upside. while poppy's unpleasant feeling is a lot quicker to pass than looey's, hes realized that wearing patches and stuff helps diminish the feeling so that its bearable at least [hence why hes willing to lose a heart or two for the sake of distracting, its not as painful/uncomfortable to him as long as hes wearing those patches]

-goob is actually an amazing chef. like he Locks In if you ask him for some food. his expertise rivals fucking Sprout its insane

-gigi will straight up just.give back something she stole if you just ask for it. shes not malicious about it. unless she has a good reason to Not give it back [like if she stole a camera from a parent that wanted to take a photo of astro]

-teagan is fat and muscular she has 4 star stamina she has some visible muscle trust [im gay about her]

Similarly to the toon handlers, these toons were made to help the mains, as well as rare type toons. Their main job was helping the handlers and Mains, however.

They helped by assisting with shows, in the case of Vee, greetings and openings, and a variety of other things until the place closed down.

"Originally meant to be a little helper to Astro - the toon found it difficult to keep up with one of the main stars of the show. He liked to keep mostly to himself and was observed to stray away from the public when garden view was open. Even so, he wasn't always so distant. It was more a result of the slow downfall of GardenView that made him that way.

Nowadays, Prince finds himself feeling much more at home with toons like Connie, Gigi, and Flutter, adapting a few of their traits from spending so much time with them. He's a lot more laid back than he used to be, and toons would say he's a bit spoiled, ironic to his name, like a prince."

Bunzi the Buzzer: Vee's Helper

"Bunzi! Another helper and friend of Prince. This anxious toon used to work for Vee and her handler.

She was glad she never had to make any grand appearances during Vee's shows, only serving the purpose of well— being a buzzer during them, offscreen. Bunzi hates crowds due to their loud noise, and it's caused her to dislike the buzzer that makes up her head aswell. Despite it all, Bunzi did enjoy working for Vee at times and tidying up backstage messes."

"Case's purpose was to help both Shelly and her handler. His design was a reference to cassowaries being a close relative to dinosaurs. The quickest of the helper toons, Case is often lending a helping hand to those in need. From all his friends, he was the most into his role and took it quite seriously, often overworking himself to the bone.

Despite his helpful nature, this toon can have a bad temper and is be very hot-headed at times. Steer clear from him when he's in a bad mood or you may end up in a pretty bad situation. (Case has major beef with Shrimpo because of both their tempers.)"

"Mabel is the last of the helper toons made. Pebble and Dandy were to have their own, but this toon was promptly scrapped.

Mabel used to work in the kitchen for Sprout and his handler way back when GardenView was still open. She used to own a pair of roller skates to make her job easier. Now you'll find her chatting the ear off any toon willing to listen and talk with her. She's very social and curious, and curiosity often gets her in trouble since she mixes with the "wrong" toons quite often. (coughrodgercough)"
