Why is no one talking about how right after using the book as a fly swat Gabriel goes “oh but I know what you’re thinking! Don’t worry it never actually works”

He thinks everyone is worried about the flies!!! He thinks everyone is worried about the flies because he is worried about the flies!!!! He is worried about the flies because they remind him of Beelzebub!!! He doesn’t even remember who Beelzebub is but he remembers that he would never want to hurt one of their flies!!!! He thinks everyone else feels the same way about flies that he does!!!

Every time I rewatch this season I notice something that makes me want to throw myself into traffic.

my friend works at one of those companies that sells punching machines n shit. i asked her abt the punching machines and she said, for most machines, avg score is 300-600. AND she said "for getting a high score, you should apply enough force and have the right technique"

And i cant stop thinking abt how dream didnt use much power and he had the wrong technique but still got higher than avg

So my friend just got into MDZS after finished TGCF, and you know what she said? She thinks that Xue Yang kinda remind her of Hua Cheng (like the reincarnated version), and Xue Yang/ Xiao Xing Chen relationship is, kinda like how Hua Cheng/ Xia Lian will be if things end up badly...And I never thought of that ever (eventhough I started TGCF since 2 years ago). What do you think? Do you agree? Can you the parallels of HC and XY characters? Sorry for this random ask....

Frankly, the only real similarities the Xue Yang has to Hua Cheng is like... potentially a similar color scheme. And that's it. Actually, probably not even that. Perhaps just people thinking "bad boy vibes" and "having an obsession" which is so general as to be completely useless, in my opinion! So many other characters have those things, in ways that are more similar to Hua Cheng and Xie Lian.

The comparison only really works if you completely remove everything about why Hua Cheng is the way he is, and decontextualize his relationship with Xie Lian. And I think the parallels between Xiao Xingchen and Xie Lian -- which are actually more substantial -- are doing the heavy lifting here. Them being similar in some ways allows for the extra slot of "guy who is obsessed with them."

It's hard to even really think of Xue Yang and Hua Cheng as polar opposites, actually. Because they really aren't -- they don't share a substantial axis to deviate from other than very superficial ones. Like, Hua Cheng is a reject of society because he wants to be, because he doesn't care about that society. He's not a bitter sociopath about it like Xue Yang. And meanwhile, Xue Yang makes pretty much all his own problems for himself. Hua Cheng would laugh at him.

I get why people make that comparison, though, and I don't blame them. There's something there, at least. But again, I think it just comes down to aesthetic (light + dark) and maybe related archetypes (kind naive person + unhinged guy) mostly, and then hammering away at the characters until they fit the molds.

I'm sorry if this is not the answer you wanted, anon! But I wanted to give my honest perspective haha.
