(also the author's newest J/J fic , the end of the world, which has them as exes but pretending to be together for laila and Alvarez's wedding, is also a big fav of mine).

My initial response to this message was to LAUGH OUT LOUD + refer to you as a sweet summer child because, OHMYGOODNESS, Y E S, I read playing on WHILE IT WAS BEING UPDATED. Let me tell you: it was an E x P e R i E n C e. A *%!ING excruciating EXPERIENCE!

Before Red Rabbits was a fandom wide event, during the first seven+ months of 2018 many of us were riding the up, down + all around roller coaster 🎢 that was the WORK IN PROGRESS CALLED PLAYING ON. I can't remember which chapter prompted several readers to threaten mutiny because those two humans just.weren't.getting it. Thank goodness wisherejack l o v e d our crankiness, which made the whole experience even more fun.

So, yes, I read AND ABSOLUTELY LOVED playing on.

playing on (M, 142k, 2018) - There’s a reason this is one of the most recommended JereJean works: it’s so damned good. @wilsherejack writes Exy games exquisitely well, her writing is economical + she knows how to write a slow burn, that’s for sure! Plus, there are playlists for the work and...another favourite aspects of her writing...most of the characters are people of colour.

who are your go-to fic authors?

I tend to read a fic and if I like it I go through and read all of the authors other works in AFTG and bookmark my favorites, some are more or less in character than others, or depending on your interpretation of that character and how you feel they may act different in a different scenario, such as different interpretations of Neils sexuality.

My bookmarks have a decent amount of repeating authors such as: moonix, puddlejumper99, mostly_maudlin, profenity, agentcoop, sinistercacophony, flybbfly, badacts, and sunrise_and_death. I haven't re-read through them in a minute but am trying to go back and reread. I stopped reading AFTG fics for around 3 years now but started up again, sometimes I sort things from oldest to newest on AO3 too.

Id say my favorites where I feel the author really feels similarly about the characters as me and are my 100% go-to's are:

profenity, sinistercacophony, and sunrise_and_death.

They all still have their own unique way of writing and showing the characters, but the characters are definitely recognizable as the ones we see in the books, just in different scenarios. the characters are still just as complex and distinctly "fox".

if you want to read through my bookmarks, feel free, but at your own digression -- still read tags and warnings and if you don't like something I bookmarked to be honest I don't care, so don't bother telling me.

OH BOY, yes I do!!

First of all, my god send, the fic that always read immediately after finishing a reread of the series:

Lessons in Cartography by profenity — there are genuinely times I can’t remember if something happened in canon or if it was just this fic 😭 I rarely reread fics, but this one was worth it. It was the first fic I read after finishing the series and now every time I read it it’s my tradition go go read this fic (and it’s sequel).

I’m sure every single one of u who follows me is here bc u like the marauders, so this next one is perfect for anyone who also likes aftg:

fear in a handful of dust by flybbfly — quidditch/wizarding AU!! I’m due for a reread of this one because I just loved it so much, I still think about it.

Red Rabbits (there’s a bunch of authors just click on the link). Andrew creates a true crime podcast trying to find Neil and his mother, Neil absolutely doesn’t want to be found… I stayed up until the sun was fucking rising during finals week just to finish this fic. It was amazing. There was a plot twist I was not expecting and normally I’m really good at catching these things so I was very impressed and especially with the way all the hints are peppered throughout the story. When u realize and go back you can see all the things you missed. Also the commitment the authors have is incredible and inspiring, they like fully make use of social media and other avenues to bring this story to life outside of ao3 and it’s amazing.

I've been searching all week for aftg fics to read, and I can't find any new ones I'm interested in :(Do you maybe have any recommendations?

so these asks are a little old (sorry) but they caught me right as i was actually cataloging all of my favorites in my fic collection, it took me over 2 months because i've read a lot and there were way to many to include here.

Hey! So I saw someone ask you for kevaaron recs and I saw the ones you recommended. I have read like more than half of those and I really like your taste (especially the one on Instagram, that one's great). So, I wanted to ask if you would give some of your favorite jerejean recs, since you also ship them. I don't have a problem with explicit scenes btw, but I don't prefer kerejean (I am sorry if that doesn't suit with you, but it's just not my thing)

This will be an honor and a pleasure!

All of these can be found on ao3, as they are from my personal bookmarks of Jerejean fics (12 in total, you can also find them regrouped on my dashboard @ codename_adler on ao3, just put the Jeremy Knox / Jean Moreau tag to filter down your research!)

I should also mention that these are all pretty long, triggering, explicit, mature and more or less canon compliant, considering how little we know in the books. To me, Jerejean is about healing and mending and finding solace in each other. If you're looking for something more... bright and AU-ish and short & sweet, I'm... yeah, not the right gal to ask. But please give these a shot, they are all so brilliant and beautiful!! ALSO, any Jerejean fic without Laila and Alvarez is lacking that quality content. I said what I said.
