does anyone have any advice for finding a lost cat that isn’t just setting out a blanket/pillow/shirt that smells like them [we already did that and she’s not back yet]
my mum’s put up missing posters around the neighbourhood and i think posted in the towns fb group + asked the neighbours if they’ve seen her + let the vet and whoever else know to look out for her but i kinda just wanna know if there’s anything more we can do
#.txt#i will say our cats are half indoor half outdoor#don’t get on my case about that i fucking hate it and i wish they were fully indoor#but i live in a house with 5 other people and one of the cats knows how to open windows#and scratch holes into the flyscreens#it’s a bit of a losing battle#but like. she doesn’t ever go outside of view of the front yard#the furthest she goes is across the road and never when there’s cars around#my mums boyfriend saw her eating the cat food on the verandah a few mornings ago#and then she’s just not been seen since#she’s been gone about 3 days i think#i think i am gonna take some of the posters tomorrow and put them around a nearby park or something#just get the reach a bit further#and my little brother is gonna check out the other side of the block across from us#in case she went all the way through there#none of the other cats seem particularly concerned which i think is a good sign?#my personal cat especially is really close to her [she’s my older brothers cat] and he’s maybe been a bit odd tonight#but he’s not acting like. out of character he’s just odd sometimes

Big ass fucking bug on the flyscreen
#'theres a nice breeze lets open up all the doors'#'ok maybe not that door'#there is a gap in the flyscreen cause the cat loves to run through it and i do not trust that this bug would stay outside#i dont mind putting lizards outside but i cannot touch grasshoppers they absolutely terrify me

i know its like. mildly dangerous to sleep with a window open but i still love sleeping with mine open and playing sad music and pretending like im sharing my sadness with the world at 1:30 in the morning. id like to think someone who's also some form of upset may one dah walk by and think wow, i'm not the only sad person in the world right now. and then they'll start quietly singing to the cardigans maybe. or heart attack man but i doubt that one
#it feels somewhat less dangerous to sleep with windows open in aus#we have this commonplace thing called flyscreen which no american ive ever talked to has#and most of them have never heard of it either#but bugs cant get into my room at night#nor can intruders without breaking the screen#and id like to think id know if someone was trying to rip through that tight pulled plastic god damn

The little foam thing in the AC box is basically for extra insulation/sealing. You use it to plug up any gaps or holes between your window and the AC unit, so that bugs don't get in and so that you're not letting all your cold air right back out the window
Wow!! Thank you!!
#i love being informed about stuff (genuine) (very happy)#thankfully we have flyscreens between the main glass door and the outside world#but if we move thisll be very helpful :D#bloody-shadow666

Moiré Pattern

In the episode "Trampoline", you can see in the cylindrical ring of flyscreen / protective mesh that surrounds the trampoline, these little optical-illusion-y patterns of dots. I believe those are replicating the shimmery Moiré pattern you can see if these screens are distorted, flexing, etc. A neat effect, don't think I've ever seen that in an animated show.
#I remember seeing similar dots on the mesh flyscreen on my family's pop-up tent trailer.#Bluey neat little details#Bluey#Is that a Steven Universe-brand trampoline?

opened the door to show pixie that it’s COLD to prove she doesn’t want to go out there but turns out she didn’t care so now she’s outside anyway and I can’t shut the door until she chooses to come in or I go out and get her and undo all the zip for the door and fish her out and like pixie. baby. please it’s 5 degrees outside
#p sure there’s like plastic inserts I can get for the pet door thing so it’s not an open flyscreen and I NEED to#this creature enjoys being outside too much for me to have to have a fully open door with full airflow all winter#at least she’s decided the cage is a nice place to be now tho and not a Prison she must Escape From like she first thought

Grew up with screens everywhere in South Australia. The flies are terrible there. Also mozzies. My grandparents had screens in their house in France but that was unusual. When we moved to Sydney years later I was astonished that there were no screens! But, we lived with our balcony doors mostly wide open and I only got bitten a couple of times in the 8 years we were there. On the other hand, we did get fruit flies sometimes. Mostly when my OH left bananas out on the kitchen bench. And we did have a mynah bird fly in, trying to steal our keys…
I continue to run into people that are confused as to why Americans have screens on our windows and it’s really quite simple.
Bugs
Diseases carried by bugs
Other assorted wildlife such as dogs and teenagers

The cat was just jumping off the walls and running around and cat such. In doing so she jumps onto and simultaneously leaps off my toe, puncturing it and it starts to profusely bleed... Yey cats
