those of you who have been following me for a while may have noticed that I lose important things A LOT so as a quick update I left my favorite backpack full of very Personally Important items somewhere at the Aberdeen, MD train station last Thursday and have not heard word of its return o7
#it had the shirt i had just gotten at the gym class heroes show as well as my journal full of my thoughts + paper mementos like tickets#a custom made calculator t shirt bc im a fucking nerd a belt my partner JUST bought me my favorite (non tour) fall out boy shirt#my favorite shorts the copy of jacobin i was in the middle of reading + the stamps I stored inside#and most importantly of all: a stuffed dolphin that my sister secretly helped me buy when i was 8 that i have slept with every night since#so for anyone keepin track: i lost my cane at fob 1 my dead grandmother's ring at fob 2 and my favorite backpack full of stuff at gch#and thats just the concerts. ive lost a lot of stuff in between as well rest assured#the thing is i genuinely have no idea where tf it couldve gotten left. i dont know what happened at all#i have brain damage lol my short term memory is so fucked. its killing me not know what happened

OH I did want to mention that it isn't in chronological order which sucks but like. this is a cover. there are different pressures here, this is not their very own song that they're gonna put all their money n time into. That being said I still think they did a good job and respected the song more than a lot of others have
(As someone obsessed w/ BJ's version, I would say that I am satisfied with the FOB cover up to 91%, which is more than I could hope for among artistic choices and other things)

I don't listen to a lot of fob but if pheonix is my favorite of theirs what would you recommend of theirs that has a similar vibe?
OMG this is an amazing question, i’m so honored that i get to answer this.
this answer is also going to be SO long, i’m sorry, i’m actually insane about this band lmao
so Phoenix is one of my favorites too, it’s actually the one that made me buy my first fob album. one of the big things i love about that song is their use of strings in the track (i’m a violinist), so if that’s something you like about that song, i would suggest some of their more orchestral songs like So Much (For) Stardust, I Am My Own Muse, and What A Time To Be Alive.
(honestly, everything off their newest album is soooo orchestral, i’m deeply in love with it)
the other thing that speaks to me about Phoenix is its heavier rhythmic appeal. i love a good melody mixed with a strong, steady beat and heavy guitar. if that’s what appeals to you in this song, then i highly recommend Headfirst Slide Into Cooperstown On A Bad Bet (i would recommend this for everyone tho). some other really good heavy songs of theirs are Novocaine, Alpha Dog, Fame < Infamy, and West Coast Smoker.
i actually have an absurd amount of things i’d love to preach about this band, please feel free to ask more questions.

gotta have a weird day every now and then ig
#security offered to reprint my school id card because it was very faded#so i was like oh yeah sure thanks#it’s like 11 pm i just finished a show#they give me new card and tell me to get it reprogrammed at front desk i’m like ok cool#i go to front desk#it’s a security guy there instead of an ra or student worker or whatever#so they don’t have access to the same systems#so he can’t reprogram my card#and the old one’s already shredded#luckily i was able to check out a fob to get back into my room and i’ll be able to fix it tomorrow#but it was inconvenient yaknow?#in other news i got my copy of p5t!!!#i’ll probably wait til i’m on break to play it but i’m so stoked#ready to get dragged right back down into persona hell#ramblings
