I rewarded myself for hard thesis work today by a trip to the bulk store. I got candy corn (yeah I'm pro-candy corn), gummy bears, licorice all sorts, pistachios, and wasabi peas.

I could, right now, make the weirdest trailmix in existence.

Actually thinking about the immigrant narrative in Jaime's Blue Beetle because... This is a 2nd gen immigrant with alien tech fused to his spine......... In an America where his parents (and probably himself) get slurs thrown at them for being "illegal aliens"…......... There's some kind of metaphor there

#and i wish canon (comics) did more with that #because while the movie (in Uncle Rudy's speech about paper trails deportation) and the 2006 comic (in the border patrol arc)#acknowledged the Reyes' immigrant roots #the alien tech didn't really play a part in those stories thematically?#probably because the writers figured it's a minefield #since the Reach *are* actually warmongering aliens #so it's not a flattering parallel #but I'm thinking of Khaji Da specifically #which is separate of the Reach as a sentient entity. Khaji isn't evil....... it's just an 'alien' being trying to do good in America #just some food for thought #Jaime Reyes #dc txt

Okay I just had some trail mix yesterday and now I'm curious; for non-allergy reasons, which type of nut do you like the LEAST?? Feel free to say why in the tags, I wanna hear nut slander. (Nothing against folks with allergies, but I'm just curious to see results based purely on general enjoyment/taste rather than "this thing can kill me".)
