high school tech crew!monsta x: assistant stage manager!kihyun

y’all cannot tell me you can’t see that fiery savage beast running around with a clipboard and his headset trying to gather everyone for curtain

tries to make stage hand!hoseok and mic crew/stage hand!jooheon stop fooling around so much even though he’s trying not to laugh himself

gets really meticulous about spiking sets

will scream if the spike tapes aren’t properly labelled and clear taped down

spends each scene following his highlighted and color-coordinated script closely

and goes around to each tech member backstage to remind them of what they’re putting on or taking off

everyone always replies with “yes mom” and he’s not sure whether he likes it or not

this man doesn’t take a breather honestly

the only reason he calms down for even a second is bc you’re the assistant stage manager for stage left

and you can literally feel kihyun running around on stage right so when he finally sits down you tell him he’s doing a great job bc why reprimand him when he’s just making sure this show is running smoothly??

and you can hear his smile when he mumbles a lil “thank you, so are you”

cue stage manager!minhyuk cutting in on the headset telling you two to stop flirting bc this is NOT why we have these and he DOES NOT want to hear it (he totally lowkey does tho he’s a gossip queen and wants all the tea)

i wish i could say he’s shy bc of you but like

y’all know how greasy he can be (peep this video if you don’t bc holy FUCK this boy is smoother than freshly shaved legs)

in fact he’s so smooth that you genuinely don’t believe he has any sort of feelings for you and is just playing around

even though he doesn’t even try these sort of lines on anyone else

why would he when you’re the only one he has his eyes on

you always brush him off whenever he tries to pull one bc you have this mindset that it’s just a joke and he’s telling all these lines to everyone

and you don’t see it but kihyun kinda looks like a hurt puppy when you nervously laugh it off and walk away to check up on everyone on stage left

sits in the booth and vents to minhyuk and projections technician!changkyun about his struggles and asks what he’s doing wrong

just groans into his hands about how he just wants to date you and give you the entire world bc you deserve it

and minhyuk doesn’t realize but he accidentally pushed the button that connects to the other headsets

and you heard all of this and you’re sitting at your post like !!!!!!!!!

you’re literally shook to the core like HE WAS BEING SERIOUS THIS WHOLE TIME and you don’t even know how to feel like you really haven’t thought much about your feelings for kihyun because you didn’t think he had feelings for you and you didn’t wanna get your hopes up if this really all was just a joke

but like

do you say something? do you pretend you didn’t hear anything and mess with him?

your time to pick one of these options becomes limited when spotlight technician!hyunwoo awkwardly clears his throat into his headset and says “guys... you’re on headset”

*cue the entire booth panicking*

minhyuk immediately pushes the button to turn off the headset and changkyun’s screaming OFUCKF OFCYK OF UCK and kihyun’s just frozen because like

there’s a 50% chance you weren’t on headset BUT THERE’S ALSO THE 50% CHANCE YOU WERE AND YOU JUST HEARD KIHYUN SPILL HIS HEART FOR YOU

and kihyun just starts sweating because the show’s about to start in 15 minutes and minhyuk’s telling everyone to go backstage to do the pre-show ritual which means he has to face you ohG OD

he goes backstage and you refuse to make eye contact because you’re still trying to process everything and your feelings

but kihyun takes this as you heard everything and don’t feel the same way and he just wants to throw himself into the pit and die but he needs to pull his act together for this damn show so he puts on a smile and hypes up the cast and crew

and you can totally see how fake that smile is and it kills you knowing that he’s faking one right now because of you

and you kinda spend the first act pondering about every interaction you guys have had and how each one kinda made you want to melt into a puddle and FUCK YOU DO LIKE KIHYUN BUT HE THINKS YOU DON’T OH NO

and that’s when you make it your personal mission to put on a fucking amazing show (priorities hello you’re DOING A FUCKING SHOW RN) and show him how you feel afterwards

and yknow what! the show goes great! barely any slip ups and everyone is so proud of everyone!

you find kihyun after the show and he’s thinking the fucking worst like oh here it comes the REJECTION

but you throw your arms around his neck and kiss him and he’s like

and his hands find the small of your back as his lips press back against yours and he literally feels like he’s flying

you pull away and go into this frenzy about how sorry you are that you didn’t realize he was being serious and that you made him think you weren’t into him but he just grabs your hands and has the biggest smile on his face and you shut up immediately

changkyun puts on a projection that says “love is real :’)” and hyunwoo shines a spotlight on you two and sound technician!hyungwon starts playing some cheesy ass love song and minhyuk, hoseok, and jooheon start crying and holding each other and everyone’s fucking cheering bc you idiots did this on stage

but like you don’t even care bc you have the whole world holding your hands

from then on out, you guys really do flirt over headset

and this time minhyuk REALLY doesn’t wanna hear it

but also he’s happy that his best friend is with his crush after that whole fiasco

kihyun’s still mad about the fucking button tho he glares at it every time he’s in the booth
